They DID however have a girl standing by to help u order. AND they had acoustic fabric ceiling tiles suspended in the ceiling so it wasn't so fricken loud in here and echo'd. Awesome. I ordered the Spinach and portabella Mushroom omelet, comes with salsa, hash browns and a fruit cup. Woweee it was hot and very tasty!!! Impressed!!! Bf had steel cut oatmeal. The fixings bar is very extensive too! Yumm we love steel cut. Nice n chewy and nutty. But he was afraid that that wouldn't be enuf so he ordered aDenver omelet that came with Avo, chives and sour cream, hash browns n toast. It was also very tasty. It's sat and the manager was out bussing tables and cleaning which was nice to see. I think I'm not a sceptic anymore. If we come back to Columbus I think I will be back here. A great breakfast joint!! Yes, this is really good food for a great price. Their portions are very generous. The freshness and flavor of the food is spectacular. I absolutely love this food, the ordering process, the friendliness of the staff. I love the kiosk where you order. It makes it nice to see what you are ordering and be able to substitute if necessary or add extras. Once you order the food go have a seat and wait for your name to be called. There is a screen that you can see how many other orders are ahead of you, I really like that. The coffee is very delicious and fresh. It's very tasty and quality coffee. The food is really good, fresh tasting and quality. The portions are really great for the price. I can't say enough about how good this place is and how you should eat here. Was hungry after a Dr appointment. Several places that we thought about were closed on the Tuesday after Labor day weekend. So we decided to give this place a try. First impression, low traffic at 1030 am or so. Next, says a part of the scramblers brand. Since we are fans of scrambler Marie's we had a good feeling. Once inside we discovered that there is no register or ordering from the table. Instead you order via a kiosk, which as a first time customer we found intimidating. My wife ordered an orange juice and the all American breakfast. 2 eggs over medium, bacon as her choice of meat, and her 2 sides were hash browns and a fresh fruit bowl. The kiosk popped open a window when she selected hash browns. We were not able to see how to say none of the above, and the cheese that was selected were not served nor listed on the receipt. She disliked her orange juice quite a lot. She wouldn't drink it and ok is her favorite juice. I ordered a custom omlette. I chose no cheese, avocado, chorizo, and sausage. I chose hash browns with chives and toast, no butter. The omlette was not bad. The hash browns were ok but a bit small. The toast was as expected. I ordered a mixed berry smoothie which was very good. Overall we were a bit underwhelmed and probably won't stop in tomthe chain again. read more

If my server said, "get it yourself", I would be quite put off. On first visit I was excited and glowing at another new breakfast spot. On my 2nd visit, It was a little more visual of an overview. Walk up to a kiosk and place your order and render payment. Grab all your own silverware, condiments and beverage. When name appears on a screen, you get back up to get any special order, drink,coffee, or juice. Don't get comfortable, because when your name appears again, you need to fetch your food. Certain items require you to visit a community toppings bar for self serve again. The food is adequate not outstanding. There is nothing elevating about the food that makes you scream out "This is the best". I have noticed since the first early opening weeks that months later, the plating has changed. Plastic dish sitting on ceramic dish is an obvious lowering of standards. The dining room is immaculate. The attendant is strolling around bussing and sanitizing tables and chairs. He was quick with a broom. I did not find all this "do it yourself" comfortable to my breakfast dining experience. Perhaps this is a perfect fit for the "order and go" customer. read more

I stopped by here today with my mom to have breakfast. I had no idea this was here. I actually passed by it this morning and the only reason we stopped was b/c First Watch had a 45-60 minute wait. At first look I was not a fan of having to place my own order via kiosk. It's extremely impersonal and weird, to be honest. The menu is simple so it works. Once I was able to see what they had the ordering process for us was not long at all. Once your food and drink order is placed, you are then put up on a screen and you wait for your name to be called. Separately for drinks and food! While you wait you can see your place in line, which I thought was cool. I was not a fan of my eggs. It was a complete fail. I didn't enjoy the hash browns. They were not crunchy and you could add topping to them. I do believe they need to redo their menu b/c they have chives listed, but they are in fact scallions. The French Toast was good too. Finally, I had the Pineapple Mango drink. It was good, but too sweet for my liking. They would do well to have a small size as well. That would be perfect for me. As a take away, I think could use a bit of tweaking with their overall flow of things. If I'm in the area again, I would stop by again. Grade: B- read more

Visited this week for breakfast with another couple. The ordering kiosks are interesting and different, but easily figured out. The high mounted flat screens kept us updated on our order status, which was quickly filled. I had the Breakfast Tacos and my wife had an egg and bacon sandwich. All were quite tasty and were notable for big serving size. I forget exactly what our friends had, but I do remember everyone enjoying the hashbrowns. I'm not a huge breakfast guy, but I'm sure I'll be back again. On a side note, I hope City Egg will be around for awhile. Since I've lived on this side of town, this building has been a Cosi and a Moe's and possibly something else. Hopefully City Egg will have staying power! read more

Awesome ginormous egg painted on the brick wall, in the dinning area. Simple colors, plenty of seating and space to move about. Comfy metal chairs. Trendy. Staff were pleasant and happy to help in any way. Cooks in the kitchen were also friendly. The condiments counter was fully stocked, anticipating their usual Sunday morning busy hours. Places that offer a water jug with lemon always makes me smile; City Egg can check that box. The kiosk ordering was super easy. And, City Egg (CE) has thought of everything - you can substitute items, add items, take away items. Customers can even customize an entree. I picked the Awesome Avocado omelette with egg whites (no extra charge for this - fantastic surprise, as most places charge extra for this). I also subbed in sausage for the bacon. Comes with two sides, of which I picked the fruit cup and hash browns. Their hash browns were very very good. Crisp around the edges. Not too soft. Absolutely loved the flavor! I normally don't eat hash browns, simply cause they're usually blah. Not the case with these!! I 100% recommend you go with these as a side. I did want an extra serving of sausage, but didn't see that option on the screen. Possibly could have missed seeing the button, or it's on another screen. If not, I'd love to suggest they add that function. Everything is clearly priced. I'd totally pay for extras, as you're able to see a running total of your costs. I'd wanted to try this place after they opened, and got the chance today. Gwen W.'s impression of the hash browns intrigued me. They were simply the best! They were perfectly cooked. It is a cute place, in the former Cosi. Very bright and I love the self-serve kiosks. If you are a newbie, there is staff waiting to help you. We ordered, and customized; I added my name and swiped my card. We sat, first at a table by the window, then moved when we realized there are booths. They call your name when your order is up, first for the drinks (they make all the coffee drinks as well), then the food is set out on trays for you to transport to your table. My only suggestion is to have the order screen in the dining room so that it is easier to see from your table. It shows when they are working on it, then when it is ready. It would help in case you don't hear your name called. I had a quinoa bowl, with a fried egg on top. I had the hash browns on the side. My daughter got the french toast, and my granddaughter got the smiley face pancakes from the kid's menu. The total for our food and drinks was $30, which wasn't too bad. Stumbled upon City Egg while I was headed to Al's Delicious Popcorn Factory. From the photos I viewed on Yelp I decided I'd give them a shot. And I can safely say I am glad I did. They have a self order Ipad System which was pretty easy and fun. The reasonable prices make this place even better! I opted for a meaty omelette with hash browns and toast. It came out looking nice, but familiar. After doing a little digging I realized that they are apart of the Scrambler brand which own Scrambler Marie's which I despise (lol). But City Egg must do things a little different because the food tastes better than Scrambler Marie's. Omelette (1-5=4) hash browns (1-5=2.5) toast (1-5=4). My husband felt the same way. He ordered the breakfast combo and said his meal was "fine." Our bill was really cheap. I think we spent around $15 for two people, so it is definitely an affordable option. The portions were not large/oversized like you would get at a diner, so keep that in mind if you come with a big appetite. Great food for a great price! We stopped in for lunch on a Sunday, and some of our party got breakfast, some got lunch. The prices are lower than other comparable places. You order at a kiosk. When we went, there was someone there to help you place your order. I guess as a new concept, they wanted to make sure people were not confused. I'm not sure if they will continue to have helpers. With several kiosks, the line seemed to move plenty quickly. We thought the food was excellent! The portions were large. The coffee was good. Really my only complaint would be the chairs. Haven't been here in a couple months but had a hankering for eggs and remembered that it is just around the corner from me. The ordering system is pretty cool and there is always someone standing by to answer questions. My favorite thing about this ordering process is you can totally customize your meal. Add or remove ingredients, add extras, even choosing to have hash browns or bacon cooked 'crispy'. It isn't necessary to wait at the front for your food, they will call your name and you can hear it from the tables. The restaurant is very clean and bright and I absolutely love the heavy-ish egg-shaped plates, I want some for my home! The food is terrific, I got the avocado toast which came with sriracha sauce. I substituted the feta cheese for cheddar blend and had my eggs over easy. I also got hashbrown, extra crispy and upgraded my bacon to premium thick-cut, also crispy. There is a big jug of lemon water at the drinks station but they also have teas and coffee as well as soft drinks. The food came out quickly and was so so so good...the ONLY thing I can say is that next time I would ask them to heat the avocado a bit as it was fridge cold which soon made the eggs cold and I didn't love that. The three strips of bacon were perfect and the hash browns were PERFECTION. Normally fries or any potatoes are the thing I might not finish but these were the shredded kind, and those crisp little potato whispers were the best I've ever had, hands down. I also ate my dining partners hash browns, I'm not ashamed to say. I will definitely go back here but I wish they were open past 3 p.m. because it would be awesome to have this as a breakfast-for-dinner option. read more

I can see why some people might dig this place. However I did not. For starters if you're hungover it's a lot to go up to the kiosk (there's no people to ring you out) and type in name, email, telephone and blah blah blah else. I just want to sit down grab a coffee and try to pick out the greasiest thing on your menu. Well folks there's zero grease. Sandwiches, bowls and sides. Nothing grand to soak up anything. My French toast was ok, kinda taste like it was pre-made or frozen. Egg sandwich didn't have much flavor to it. I liked the whipped butter and the juices though! I don't like how there is limited interaction with staff. When I think $30 I think someone is filling up my coffee and bringing me food. I just want it easy I suppose. I love this place. Don't listen to all these people whining about the kiosk thing. That's the point of this place. Also, don't listen to all these people expecting a rustic gastropub brunch served on re-purposed cutting boards. You can scoot in and have a quick and easy breakfast with minimal social interaction (big bonus for me), but the staff is always on hand to help should you need it. No waiting on service, refills, the check, etc. It's great. I've been around the menu, and I keep going back to the Uncle Moose. Really like the coffee too. Came here on a morning quite famished after an early appointment had ruined all hopes of breakfast at home. The system is similar to restaurants in large airports where you order food on a screen and then you pick it up at the counter. The process was fairly intuitive and there is someone to help you out if you need help. I ordered a fairly basic meal two eggs with potatoes. Everything appeared to be quite fresh. The potatoes were a much larger portion than I should have eaten :), but everything tasted fine. Nothing special nothing bad. Much better than most fast food chains, and the cost was in between those and a sit down restaurant for breakfast. Probably deserves 3.5 stars. read more

I know most people were blown away by City Egg, but I'm not sorry to give my rating. Yes, I do like that someone greets you at the door and that there are iPads to put your order in. (Tip: when you order on the iPad, make sure you click guest.) It's quick on a Friday morning, which was when I came. But I'm not sure how efficient this system is on busy weekend mornings. The kiosk space is not huge and neither is the area where you wait for your food. When I came it was quiet enough that when I sat at my table I could hear them call my name to get my order. I'm not so sure you'd get this lucky on a weekend. I'd like to see the screens that shows the order preparation out by the tables, that way customers at their tables can see the progress of their food. I do like the space. It's very modern. Lots of white tile with pops of yellow from the high chairs, as well as a brick wall with a cracked egg plastered on it. It's fast casual, so it's definitely a dining experience where you get in and get out. It doesn't feel like a place where you would linger. Now, on to the food. I ordered the all American city, which is a pretty standard meal with two eggs, two of a type of meat, and two sides. You can choose on the iPad all of this info which is super nifty. I got my eggs scrambled, turkey sausage patties, with sides of fruit and pancakes. It was really filling for a super cheap price at $6.50, I think? The eggs seemed dry like they had been sitting out...same with the sausage. I also got a standard coffee which tasted like watered down crap! My sister ordered the moose which was hash with ham, sausage , bacon, and cheese with eggs on top with a side of fruit. She didn't feel like it was anything out of this world. She also had the Vitamin CBUS which was a drink with grapefruit, orange juice, peach, and lime. Very refreshing! It is probably the best thing on the menu! In general, the food was very ordinary food. Decent, but probably not coming here again. There's a water jug by the drinks but I think they need to place that by the door where all the coffee was (I'm guessing you get free refills?) because the space was too tight and too many of us were waiting for this one jug. City Egg is a new concepts by local pancake flippers Scramblers that sits in Bethel Place, in the stand alone plot that once was a Cosi and later a Moe's. Trying their hand at fast-causal breakfast and brunch, the place features community tables as well as individual seating, fresh foods, gourmet coffee, and a juice bar. It also has an unique--for now--ordering process that uses technology and automation ( a trend that soon will violently disrupt our economy and throw our entire society into chaos and disorder. But nevermind that.) You order by use of touch screen kiosk, like the ones at the grocery stores, and then wait your food at the counter. The screens are pretty self explanatory, but the morning I went they had staff there to help. The menu is rather mainstream with just enough creativity to make it interesting. It's closer to Scamblers than Skillet but the food, if my choices are any indication, is a step or two better quality than the home store. Split into fork & knife, hand held, and bowls the entrees run the gambit of eggs, pancakes, and omlettes; breakfast sandwiches and wraps ( the Baja wrap looking interesting;) and quinoa, salads, soups, and oatmeal. With drink your meal will drain about ten to fourteen bucks from your account. I picked Our Way Wisconsin, a scamble egg dish with three types of cheese and diced tomatoes. They don't list what cheeses are in it, and I really can't tell other than the cream cheese which is standard in a Wisconsin scramble. Put a gun to my head and I'd say chedder, and maybe parm or prehaps a colby. The cream and cheddar stand out, the third took the edge off the other two so it's something more to the dry-flatter side of the cheese spectrum is my guess. Whatever the trio, this meal was awesome. The eggs were fluffy, cheesey, and melted in my mouth. The tomatoes were fresh and sprinkled on just enough to give the dish a cool counter flavor, a sensation of other taste buds that usually go dormant. I liked very much. Though the dish was not huge, the flavor of the scrambler was worth the price. As for a side I had hash browns; these chopped 'tators were the equal to the entree. Perfectly done. The toast did not subtract from the meal at all. I ordered the metro mango for a drink. Yes, yep, and yeah! It's fruity, tropical, and done well. I don't order mango very often, so I am not the one to judge, but I suspect this will do for any mango lover in town. I'll probably go mango coming here. Five stars for fast-causal breakfast. The wait for my food took a little more time than I expected, but new place rules are in effect here. If they can keep up the high quality production as they expand, we may be looking at a new force in Central Ohio breakfast market. read more

WINNER...!!! Folks, we have a winner here. City Egg is from the folks that brought us Scramblers, and is really excellent. The whole concept is healthy, fresh, clean eating, and that's exactly what it is. The Jumpstart Sandwich is a fried egg, delicious turkey sausage, fresh spinach, tomato and cheese on a whole wheat English muffin with a fantastic tomato aioli. For $4 it's a bargain (especially compared to the $3.50 I got charged the other day at McDonald's for an Egg McMuffin - this is infinitely tastier, fresher and healthier). We also had the fresh orange/pineapple/mango juice (awesome), and the hash browns (delicious, and deliberately cooked with far less oil than many places). Prices were VERY FAIR for the quality and quantity of food. We wish they'd post nutritional information prominently, because we're confident the numbers would be very good. My husband and I come at least 3-4 times a month. We love how we don't have to wait to order. The system to order and the walk-up to pick up your order when it's ready works perfect for us. The food is always hot, unlike in other restaurants where it may sit before the waitress brings it out. Prices are good for our retired budget. We've never had a bad breakfast. I went here today with my friend for brunch and wow this place was amazing. Such an upgrade from the Moe's that was there. I like the technology of the iPads for you to do your order yourself. But if you needed help then there was worker to help you. I also like the separate food and drink pick up stations where you can see when you stuff is ready. I got the southwestern omelette and it was pretty good. I wish there was a little more salsa on top but the Frank's Hot sauce made up for it. Nothing spectacular or particularly innovative with the food, but I love the ordering concept at this restaurant. Instead of waiting in a long line to put your name in, waiting some more for a table, placing your order and waiting for food--the way your typical brunch place operates--you wait in one line, place your order via tablet, and then wait for your order to be prepared while you watch its progress on overhead screens. The ordering process and self-seating takes some of the frustration out of the usual brunch equation, something I really appreciated! I ordered the quinoa bowl and a small cappuccino. The bowl was a mix of quinoa, spinach, bell pepper, tomato, cucumber, almonds, craisins and feta cheese topped with a fried egg. I wasn't a big fan of the nuts, which you can have left off by customizing your order. Next time I'd look closer at the various options. But the dish worked well together and it was a good size--filling but not enormous. The 16 oz cappuccino was good, but too much milk for me and not enough foam on top. More like a latte. I'd rather have a smaller cappuccino option with more foam. So, major kudos for tablet ordering, self seating, customization and quality food options. But points lost for the cappuccino, enormous aluminum trays (very unwieldy on their smallish tables), and not keeping the condiments stocked. To be honest, I am not a big breakfast person. But once in awhile, I feel lazy to prepare breakfast on the weekend. As I exploring the breakfast selection from Yelp, I come across this restaurant the surrounded by windows and full on with natural lighting. As I walk in the restaurant, you will see there a few kiosk that you can order food from. The UI of the kiosk is pretty clear and self explanatory, and they have staffs stand around the kiosk if you need any assistance. Once you order your food and drink, you can grab some utensils, find a seat and wait for your name to be call. There are two pick up section, one for the food and one for the drink. The food is quite fresh and the portion is pretty reasonable amount. And one more thing, if you order some pancake, they have a mini topping station by the fountain drink machine to top off your pancake. I'm terribly disappointed! I ordered the Westgate and the portion was very small. Another person in my party ordered the same thing and hers was much bigger. I asked for mine to be remade and instead of honoring my request a hostile cook came out of the kitchen asking me what's wrong with it. Gosh, we went here a few months ago and it was pretty good. Went here yesterday and it was awful. First, the inside of the restaurant was miserably hot. As in, "Is their air conditioning broken?" That hot. Second, the sandwich I had was just kind of gross. The 419 Sandwich has eggs, cheese, and sriracha on a brioche bun. It was oddly sweet and not hot in any way and just . . . not appealing. TL;DR - Pass. We came in around lunch time on a Saturday ready to eat some breakfast food. It was totally empty...should have known right then to head somewhere else. I honestly cannot believe this place has such high reviews. You order at an iPad. You pick up your order at the counter when it's ready. This makes me think this is a "to-go" sort of establishment. In what world does breakfast food travel well?! I Don't understand the whole concept of this restaurant, but that's not the point. The service was good. The food came out quickly. Note that the whole experience is basically self-service, like Panera. The tables were sticky though. The food was mediocre at best. You could get way better food, in bigger portions, for the same or less money at almost any diner in town. My southwest omelet was so greasy I couldn't even finish it. The avocado slices were hard and yellow. The toast was barley kissed by the toast oven. It was warm bread. And you get one piece. ONE. Breakfast foods (eggs, pancakes, bacon, etc) are not expensive. They are also not hard to make. So when you go out for breakfast food, I expect it to be better than what I could make at home. This wasn't it. Really enjoyed my first visit to city egg. The ordering process on the touch screens was​ easy and quick to order from, and the food and drinks were really good. I ordered an omelet​ that comes with two sides (i got fruit and wheat toast) and was able to try the freshly squeezed orange juice which was wonderful. I will definitely be going back and if you go you must try some juice! read more
