Offended by my incredibly rude experience with these folks! I locked myself out of my apartment and called asking for a quote. They were the highest rated in my area so I tried them first, thinking it'd be a sure thing. After getting my name, address, he asked me what price I was looking for. I've never worked with a locksmith before and was surprised because I had no idea what was ballpark. I threw out, "$50?" to which he laughed loudly and said, "I can't help you." Wow! First of all, it took this guy over 1.5 hours to show up. I get he had other jobs but instead of saying 45-60 min, he should've been honest. Secondly, he kept saying he didn't want to rip me off...I think he was overcompensating for something. Turns out he couldn't pick my lock and after using the airbags to try to get the door open, he used a screwdriver to completely ruin the door. He didn't charge me because he couldn't get it open but I think this is because he knew that he messed up my door. It's completely broken both inside and out and chances are I'll have to end up paying for it! He said he was at a different house opening a door before mine...who knows if that was really true. I was thrilled he was able to get here in under an hour when he was already busy. He pointed out the mistakes that were made when our deadbolt was installed and fixed everything. Price was great. The bad is that he requested I write a bad review for another place I called and a good one for him. That's fine, and I am happy to do that. The weird is that he hovered over me and dictated. So this is my rewrite. Still waiting on a receipt. Hate to be a bit negative, but I feel he overstepped things a bit. Update: A few nights ago, we were sound asleep at 11:30 PM when the phone rang. Wow, wow, wow. I can't believe how amazing RF Locks is. I frantically called at 7 am to get my locks changed because I had a friend staying here for a short bit and the relationship managed to go sour in that time. Needless to say, I was very shooken up, afraid, and nervous about my safety and the safety of others (including my dogs) in the apartment. During my engagement with Ray, he asked about my keys, the locks, etc. Because I'm not familiar with the components of keys and locks, Ray was patient enough to allow me to send him photos and touch base after. He was able to let me know that although he could help me, my building maintenance guy would more than likely have everything needed to swap it out. And you locksmiths generally feel...sketchy? Is that the right word? I again had occasion to use Ray at RF Locks again (see previous 5-star review) and again he did great work with excellent service. The old deadbolt on our front door had come loose in multiple places, probably from poorly-fitting keys and a toddler jiggling at it all the time. I had expected to replace the deadbolt and get new keys (which would have meant doing the back door too), but Ray said our existing lock and keys (MulTlock, which are next to impossible to duplicate) were high quality and secure and it would cost a lot to replace with something comparable. I needed to rekey all the locks in my condo. Ray from RF Locks was the first & only locksmith I called because of his stellar reviews on line. He gave me a quote & showed up on time. However, he refused to proceed because all my locks, installed by the builder, were "garbage of the garbage". He wanted me to purchase good locks so that he could do the job right. He did not charge me for the service call. He returned after I got the locks that he approved. The job was complicated by poor installations by the builder.
