When I first moved to Manhattan I used a vet from a practice I had heard good things about. That vet caused the death of two of my very beloved cats. Frantic for a new vet, Dr. Amy Attas and City Pets was highly recommended to me from someone I have tremendous respect for. Choosing Amy as my vet these last 11 years is one of the best decisions I have ever made. I currently have 6 cats. Over the last 11 years my cats have had health issues ranging from minor to as seriously ill as one could get. Through all of it, Amy has been there. Her breadth of knowledge and her ability to diagnosis quickly and accurately has literally been life saving for my cats. Her ability to deal with a hysterical client with compassion and patience has literally been life saving for me. Never an alarmist but always extremely thorough, Amy has caught health issues in my cats so early on that she has been able to treat and control these issues before they progressed into something more serious. I have never placed a call to her that has not been returned immediately. Everything is explained clearly so I can understand what is happening and what the next steps should be. I also feel that is it a huge benefit for my cats that Amy and her team come to my home to examine them. I don't shove them into carrying cases to then sit and wait in a waiting room with other upset animals. Citypets works around your schedule. They set up time that works for you and you never feel rushed. To be honest, not all of my 6 cats like to be examined. There are a few in that bunch that would just as soon bite and claw their way out of a visit. Miraculously, Amy and her crew have somehow managed to check eyes, listen to heartbeats, express anal glands, clip nails, clean ears, take blood and nobody has been the worse for wear. Forget about the Dog Whisperer - Amy could put him to shame! And last, but not least is the crew at CityPets. I feel as if each and every one of them cares, even loves my cats. They are beyond courteous and extremely helpful whenever I call. I depend on them and they have never let me down. read more

I have only positive things to say about Dr. Amy Attas and everyone else at City Pets, and I couldn't recommend them more highly. After my elderly Maltese, Darwin, was diagnosed with pretty advanced cancer, there wasn't much that I could do other than make him as comfortable as possible for the remaining weeks of his life. Being a first-time pet owner, I felt like I needed extra support in taking care of him, and I also wanted to find a vet who could come to my home. I found City Pets online, and they were extremely reassuring and responsive. Sandra was helpful and kind during my initial call, and Dr. Attas was persistent in calling me back when I missed several phone calls. During their visit, Dr. Attas and Carida were incredibly helpful in giving me suggestions to keep Darwin comfortable and eating. Later, Dr. Dalton was patient enough to have a lengthy conversation with me when I was trying to assess whether to put Darwin to sleep, and when the time came to say goodbye, Dr. Attas and Jeanine were kind, compassionate, and respectful. We have relied on Dr. Attas, Dr. Dalton and the entire City Pets team for more than twelve years. Under their care, both the quality and length of life of one chronically ill cat was maintained for years longer than would otherwise have been possible--in part because of Doctor Attas's sensible referrals to specialists and overall supervision of care. We relied on her judgment for when care would be beneficial or too aggressive. I appreciate that I can speak frankly to her about costs of care proposed by specialists, versus value for our animal companion. One of our cats is truly shaken by being taken out of the house, so at home visits spare him days of PTSD. He (George) has a brain tumor, now being managed by Dr. Attas so that he is happy and functional. When the end comes, we know that Dr. Attas will shepherd his final hours and make everything as easy as possible for us and him. Great care from a stable team of sensitive professionals. Everybody should read all the City Pets reviews that Yelp oddly relegates to the not-recommended trash bin. They are all wonderful. People describe City Pets with words like "the best"; "tops"; "New York's best vets," "the finest"; and "I wouldn't entrust my pets to anyone else," and on and on. But Y. considers these 3 dozen reviews to be 'not recommended' (!) and instead, it posts just a tiny few of the many 5 star reviews City Pets gets, some over 2 years old (I mean, August 2016??) and, weirdly, then says there are "so few" reviews of City Pets! Why Y. does this is unfathomable, but when researching Manhattan vets, everybody should read those dozens and dozens of "not recommended" reviews of City Pets. Whether or not Y. does, I recommend the reviews. And of course, I really recommend City Pets Vets, as my dogs wouldn't be as healthy and happy as they are were it not for them (now over 20 years). read more

I wrote a review of Dr. Amy too, but finding her and City Pets has been so important for our household that I wanted to review City Pets too. Dr. Amy, Carita, and the office staff offer caring, thoughtful, highly competent health care for our kitties, and they are clearly experienced and expert at what they do. Their consideration for our cats, their vet-anxiety, and for us is very much appreciated. Taking our kitties to the vet got harder and harder, to the point that I worried that going to the vet was worse for their health (and my mental health) than not going. Since one of them has multiple issues, though, not seeing the vet at all was not a good option. Our kitties don't enjoy it when the vet and her assistant come to them, but it is far, far better than taking them out for visits. We've been very grateful to find a home visit service that is so skilled and responsive. read more

I consider myself to be very lucky. I was looking to change the vet experience for my cat who becomes super anxious whenever he needs a check-up. I checked around and was lucky to be referred to and find City Pets. Both Dr. Danielle Dalton and Dr. Amy Attas have seen my cat. He had a problem which required a trip to the Animal Endocrine Clinic (a wonderful place, with a deeply caring staff and brilliant vet) - hopefully you'll never need their services. Both Drs. Dalton and Attas were patient, gentle and provided superlative care. I cannot say enough good things about either of them. Their assistants were truly special too. You can tell they are committed to having the patient and owner/family have a truly positive experience. We had an emergency with our black and white cat. She was in acute pain and impossible to handle. We could not get her in the bag. Her condition became painful. So, I searched for a vet who could visit. City Pets was the top search result. They are easy to work with and give a window of arrival updated an hour or less before arrival. The cost of blood panels and visit to the home was well within the normal fee from brick and mortar veterinary services. City Pets, also contacted the hospital our cat had to stay in to discuss blood results. City Pets provides an economical home service for sick pet and owner. We no longer have to traumatize our pets to travel to see a vet. City Pets offers a full service right at home. Simply, City Pets is the best veterinarian service in NYC. read more

I was referred to City Pets and Dr. Amy by a friend at work. Our dog had been limping for several days and it got worse one morning and sent me into a complete panic. I called the office and they could not have been any nicer. Polite, thorough, and beyond accommodating. Dr. Amy fit Maisy into her schedule THE SAME day. She came to our place, spent time with Maisy, figured out what was going on and Maisy is on the mend. I am on the mend as well as it brought my stress level down immediately knowing that Maisy was going to be examined the same day and be on the road to recovery shortly there after. My 18 year old cat Felix is doing so well,despite kidney and blood pressure issues,thanks to the skilled and dedicated Dr. Amy Atta and her staff at City Pets.Frankly,Felix had been mishandled by his prior vet,and he just kept getting worse and worse.I was certain he was at death's door.Now,I'm happy to say that he has had a complete turnaround and is enjoying his life,which,of course,makes me very happy. It also makes an enormous difference to have Felix's vet come to the house.At his age,it is simply too traumatic and frankly dangerous to be spending time in a vet's office.He hated it and behaved very badly.Now--he is actually happy to see his doctors! we scheduled an appointment with City Pets Vets because our cat turns feral when we go to a Vet office. we've given her medication to calm her, but nothing has helped. we hoped that having a vet come to us would help. The difference was amazing! instead of a killer cat, biting, scratching, screaming, and fighting, our cat was very calm with a little soft growling. I figured most of it was being in familiar surroundings. but then I realized that the vet and her assistant were also calm --much calmer than ones in an office. City Vet pets is more expensive than office vets, but the calmness of the people and my cat is worth double the cost. read more

These vets have become like family to me and my cats. Not only are they fantastic veterinarians, but they take the owner into consideration as well. They e-mail me daily when a pet is ill to see if there's anything more they can do to make the cat better or more comfortable. They also communicate with one another so there is never a break in knowledge of the pet's condition. They ask for feed back from me on a regular basis. The tech is also knowledgeable and knows what questions to ask as well. The best part is how loving and gentle they are with my kitties. Wish my own doctor paid the same attention even when off duty! read more

We first met Dr. Amy at a very sad time; our beloved 14 year old terrier had come to the end of his life and we wanted it done in the serenity of our home. Dr. Danielle, Dr. Amy and Jeanine offer warmth and love to my dogs and cats in the comfort of our home. They helped us through the process of letting our older dog go in October. We were able to have her at home when she passed with all of us around her. Whether we have a regular checkup or an emergency, they are wonderful. Their follow up and attention to the care of our animals is truly priceless. They have strong ties to Blue Pearl Animal Hospital which is super helpful when we've needed specialist referrals. Great service, great compassionate and knowledgeable vets ( Amy Attas and Danielle Dalton) and good techs make the house call vets here in Manhattan especially a must do! Especially when getting a large dog from a rescue with troubles that freaks out walking to a vet office! That happened to us! I have been the "Mom" for my cats over these many years. I was fortunate to have one vet until he retired. It took me some time to find the one that gave me the same confidence in expertise and caring. Dr Attlas and Dr Dalton were recommended to me and I could not be more satisfied (or happy) The fact that they make house visits is so helpful in lessening the anxiety of my 17 year old and the rambunctiousness of my younger one. The doctor and her assistant arrived right on time, armed with a load of equipment and a ton of questions. Their gentle empathy with my nervous cat was equaled only by their obvious medical expertise. They took the time to make sure I understood the issues my cat was dealing with, as well as some additional information about things I was unaware of.
