Three years of multiple trips for hundreds of dollars on each visit and new "office manager" wouldn't let my gf leave the office without paying bc she didn't have her wallet on her. This is pretty much the last straw. We love the vet but for what it's worth he's got a bad stomach multiple times a year and we have him on the food regiment and ratio they recommended. We pay a premium over other vet locations because they are nearby but this type of rude and accusatory behavior from an office manager is not something people should have to deal with. If people have left you high and dry without paying, I'm truly sorry. But maybe don't take it out on someone who has spent in the thousands of dollars (yes. This place is brutal. My puppy has been a patient for about 4 years and to get an appointment here even when the dog is really sick is very hard. Julia the front desk person is the anti christ and has no compassion for animals and her clients. The care is ok and the docs are nice for preventive stuff. Great Medical care and compassion are shown in times of need not in times of want. I have to credit Yelp for this amazing find. My boyfriend and I just rescued a 2 year old terrier mix and needed a good vet in the neighborhood. I live on 78th and 1st, so Sutton vet was fairly convenient. The reviews for vets closer to us were not promising, so I decided to take a chance and go here based on the Yelp reviews I read. I made an appointment with Dr. Kent-Miller and scheduling was easy. It was nice that the person answering the phone was helpful and somewhat knowledgeable about costs and what to expect, etc. As a new pet owner, I was nervous for my first time at the vet and so was my dog. Josephine, the receptionist, immediately put us both at ease with her pleasant demeanor (and treats for my dog didnt hurt either!) When we were in the exam room, Elena was great with my dog and super nice and friendly. Dr. Kent Miller had a great bedside manner with my dog as well. I really appreciate how thorough and intelligent she is. Furthermore, another noteworthy thing I should mention is that Dr. Kent Miller personally followed up with exam results in an extremely timely fashion (2 business days later). This kind of service and professional care should be the gold standard for all doctors - but sadly, it is not the case with my own doctors and I'm a human (not a dog!) Over the past 6 months my pup has had back and neck pain issues, and Doctor Primason has been the most helpful and understanding in the matter. Dr. Kent-Miller definitely misread and misdiagnosed my dog that cost my dog to suffer and put me on the wrong path for treatment. Feel free to read thoroughly for those who take an extra interest in their pets health and well being. I'm a trainer, of approx 10 years now. I brought my dog to her last W or Th saying that I thought my dog had a physical issue that might've been impacting him. He was yelping while doing certain actions (I couldn't pinpoint them as they were sporadic and quick) inside the home for 3-4 days prior to our visit to Sutton. Originally, I thought that his behavior could've been an adjustment to our new apt, yelping can be a behavior that comes up in life changed like moving. It wasn't until I noticed all my dogs anxious behaviors and signs of facial distress shappening outside and that's when I called Sutton. He also was exhibiting heavy panting, drooling, slow walking, lack of drive etc but he was still eating and drinking normally. After the curb side drop off, Dr. Kent miller called me saying she completed the physical examination, moved his whole body around etc and found nothing wrong. In our 22 minute call she spent 5-6 minutes telling me confidently that he was not experiencing a physical injury and never even gave me any tips or things to look for if it were..She even encouraged me to go see a neurologist if he got worse, AGAIN, completely discounting that it still could've been a physical issue. She then spent the rest of the time encouraging me to put him on anti anxiety medications. Lukey has always had anxiety but responds well with structure. He gets 2+ hours a day with my balanced pack of both physical and mental enrichment. I know anxiety and my dog's anxiety did NOT need to be managed by supplements (she gave me 3 to trial out). The rest of the 17 something odd minutes of our phone appointment was her informing me on why raw food could be detrimental to his health (this was unsolicited advice and unrelated) and then spent the rest of her time encouraging me to up his HW as there are many HW cases in NYC....again-completely irrelevant to my intention of coming in...Nevertheless she says it's not physical so we took that with a grain of salt and thank god we did! By Fri/Saturday, my dog was completely shut down and immobilized. He got so bad he couldn't walk, pee, get up, or stand on his and it was absolutely horrific to watch this as a pet parent. Given that we were told this was not physical, we were looking at our finances wondering if we could afford a neurologist, started even looking and discussing that it was potentially his time if he had poor quality of life ALL BECAUSE SHE DISCOUNTED THAT IT COULDVE BEEN A PHYSICAL ISSUE! I then started looking for a second prof option b/c we did not feel Dr. Kent-Miller has our best interest at heart. I made a social media video via IG in re to this issue, and thankfully one of my friends who's a vet tech of 6 years made an unofficial diagnosis through videos I sent in saying that my dog could potentially be a candidate for a dog suffering from IDVV, INVERTEBRAL DISK DISEASE and that his motions and behavior did NOT look cognitive. I went with a new vet, obviously, and we landed at bond vet per my friends recommendation and I brought them my two thoughts of either CDC or IDVV, and the vet then confirmed it was IDVV which saved us from even going down a neurological approach to this issue!! I called Dr. Kent-Miller today to discuss her misdiagnoses and she basically claimed that she did everything physical with him and did not see a response. But it sounds like she did a physical with him and did not see a response that matched her expectation and saw all of Lukey's behaviors to be strictly behavioral and anxiety based. She accepted no responsibility in leading me to believe this could be a cognitive issue. She did not look at the big picture of our life and did not offer us support that served our best interest but I have no doubt that if I put my dog on anxiety supplements that she would earn some commission from that. I no longer trust her & feel disgusted that she could even be on the phone standing by her decision in the way that she did, completely oblivious that we went down a rabbit hole which even put me in a position to consider a neurologist based on her misdiagnosis! I was still charged for the $194.00 and she refused to refund us. Bond Vet diagnosed and supported us, and even did our vet visit outside so I could stay with my dog. They gave us the meds we needed and my dog is doing a thousand times better with their support and expertise. Also their price was MUCH BETTER!! I highly recommend that you do not use this vet. Her simple mistake caused my dog to suffer and caused me down a horrible rabbit hole that I didn't need to go down to begin with. read more

We had been taking our puppy to Dr. Lily Primason for 3 months and loved her! She seemed like a wonderful vet (from what we could tell over the phone as the practice was not letting people inside since we began with them). When we went last week to get some pre-spaying blood work done, as of July 6th, the practice was still operating on a drop off only protocol. Once Dr. Primason was on the phone with me and we had exchanged hellos and she shared some basic pre-spaying info, I said I wanted to inquire about the ongoing drop off protocol as I was feeling very nervous about my dog being fixed due to some prior health issues. I stated that it felt self serving that they were still not allowing parents in and it was making me feel uneasy and a bit untrusting as this surgery is a big deal and I had never even met the vet in person due to covid. Immediately Dr. Primason displayed no sympathy and became extremely unprofessional. She told me my words "triggered" her and immediately offered to get my dogs records together so we could take her somewhere else. Being that Dr. Primason is not one of the owners of the practice, I was shocked by how flippant she'd be about losing a client who simply was expressing their feelings about an ongoing policy that was not in line with the covid policies throughout the city at this point. I let Dr. Primason know I was feeling very caught off guard by her combative response and was sad as I did not bring this up for a fight, but rather to gain understanding as to why their policies are in place and I would have been receptive had she explained, rather than immediately victimizing herself and making the conversation extremely personal and unprofessional. Dr. Primason then came outside to speak with us and we were calm and hopeful as we really did not want to go to another vet at this point. She just continued to be combative. She was hyper focused on her personal feelings rather than acting as a professional would about meeting concerned dog-parents questions with empathy, respect and quite honestly, facts. The conversation with Dr. Primason was rooted in her own personal feels and "triggers" (as she mentioned feeling triggered by my question numerous times despite how many times I expressed I didn't ask it with malice). She even said to me I should've "chosen different words to use because self serving and untrusting were poor choices." I had asked her to please request one or both of the practice owners, Dr. Kent Miller or Dr. Kennedy to please give me a call as even after this conversation, we still wanted to stay on with them as we didn't want to start over again and she replied with "well I'm not sure that they'll call you. I can't promise that." To note, the office manager Lauren did call me the next day and was apologetic for the circumstances and invited me to send her an email that could be shared with the practice owners. Following my email, Dr. Kent-Miller called me a few days later and while she apologized for "how the situation played out," she did not acknowledge that Dr. Primasons actions were inappropriate or unprofessional. Dr. Kent-Miller even doubled down on saying "if we don't have trust it's hard to work with people," while my whole intention was to GAIN / BUILD trust by sharing with Dr. Primason how I was feeling. I don't believe pet parents should be expecting to blindly trust without ever asking questions. It was clear she was not willing to condemn Dr. Primasons concerning behavior. Something else that happened during this exchange that is very concerning- Dr. Primason had mentioned that our dog had two baby teeth left that would need to be pulled during her spaying procedure while she was already under anesthesia. She had said this almost immediately when we got on the phone, prior to me sharing my concerns. And now we come to find out following an exam with a different vet that our dog actually has NO BABY TEETH LEFT! And no sign of teeth that have recently fallen out and are growing in either. So there is evidence that Dr. Primason likely became extremely defensive after I told her my concerns because she had just LIED and told us that our dog needed an unnecessary procedure done so they could up-charge us. Very sketchy. If you want to go to a vet that is focused on your animal and professional conversations with their parents, I would avoid Dr. Primason. She is incapable of taking responsibility and I truly cannot fathom how she'd react if there was a medical error on her end. It's clear she is not able to manage her own emotions and countertransferance enough to be an effective clinician, should her clients raise any questions or concerns about the care she is giving to their pets. read more

Dr. Kennedy has been caring for my Bull Terriers for years! When other vets wrote off my old Bully, Dr Kennedy was not certain their diagnosis was accurate and was able to have an additional 2 healthy years with him! For that I am eternally grateful! This new office is amazing! My dog LOVES the amount of light that shines through and that he can people watch while waiting (which is a major stress reliever) :) I may travel far for visits, but it is well worth it! read more

A former employee of the practice highly recommended Dr. Kennedy, said she was one of the best vets she's ever worked with and had opened her own practice, Sutton Animal Hospital, on the UES. I've been with Dr. Kennedy ever since and I am so grateful for the referral! She is a superb doctor, incredibly knowledgeable, compassionate, takes as long as needed to guide her patients through various ailments and treatments. Her staff is also excellent - well trained, quick to help and kind. I cannot recommend Dr. Kennedy and her practice, Sutton Animal Hospital, highly enough, I give her five stars. I've gotten to know other dog owners in the neighborhood on my daily walks with my dog, and a number of them have also switched to Dr. Kennedy since it opened. Both Dr. Kennedy and Dr. Kent-Miller are incredibly talented and very attentive. They make sure to fully explain any and all procedures, outline costs ahead of time and will take time to answer any questions to make sure you're completely comfortable and satisfied with their services. The staff is always very helpful and goes above and beyond to answer emails and return phone calls and check-in on the health of your animal as needed. I love the staff here! My dog is scared of everything. When we first arrived, he was a bit nervous, but he was able to warm up to the staff half way through the visit. I went to Louisiana to get this dog, and have been waiting for months for this breeder to have a dog for me, so I wanted to be sure I went to a top notch vet. Expect to wait at least 30 minutes in their lobby, I have each of my 5 visits. They also "surprise" me with line items on the bill every time...including a cost to take a bandage off. They never warn me of things they have to do, like doing an annual exam (even though my dog had just had one.) I just adopted my first dog- a chihuahua mix a few weeks ago and took him to get a check up here yesterday. My dog is very friendly but everyone went out of their way to make sure he was comfortable and happy. It was clear that Valentine and Dr. Miller-Kent genuinely cared about making sure my pup was getting the right care and made sure that I was as informed as possible as a new dog owner. She answered all of my (many) questions, demonstrated how to best brush his teeth, informed me about what vaccines he needed/and could pass on, and removed a stitch from when he was neutered at the shelter. She also went through the bill line by line, and even printed me a sample bill for my next visit so that I knew exactly what I was paying for. I noticed too that she didn't charge me for taking out the stitch- great quality care. So glad I found this vet! read more

I switched to this new practice when I saw that it opened in the neighborhood and we had a great first visit for my puppy. They were very attentive (I even received a follow up phone call to see how my puppy was doing after her shots), and they have spotless new offices. The vets here seem to have positive reviews from their prior practices, and I hope they'll do well in this new practice. One of the challenges on the Upper East Side is that there are several other vets that are, in my opinion, ridiculously over priced. We all want high quality care for beloved pets. It would be nice to have options for really good pet care that isn't priced like a pair of designer shoes on madison avenue just because your pet lives on the UES. So far this practice seems to be solid and reasonably priced. Let's help support them in the neighborhood -- we need them! read more
