I used to frequent City View when I lived here almost a decade ago and always found their hoagies and wings to be some of the best around. The sandwich I ordered yesterday did not stray to far from those in the past except I felt the lunch meat was cut entirely too thick. Also, I always found it strange that you have to specify mayo. Their standard is lettuce, tomato and onions. That equals a dry hoagie. Who wants that? And even when you do get the mayo it doesn't cover the whole roll. Hard for me to understand what they have against this condiment.

Overall a good deal if you get their BOGO specials. They pre-cooked most of the foods likes the wings and chicken breast and their are piles of them sitting there while dozens of workers are walking around and breathing over it. Stick with the pizza and stay away from the cheesesteak wraps. Cheese wasn't melted!

I'm often at work, forgetting my lunch in the fridge trying to explore options nearby. While I've been met with disappointment on a few occasions, CityView has been a saving grace. I wish I took pictures of all of my meals from here over my time in this new location, but I haven't. I appreciate them, the excellent service I always receive, and quality food.

I was pleasantly surprised how good this cheesesteak was. I found a parking spot close by and plenty of seating, Temple is on summer break. I now have a N Philly go to place.

BEWARE. The dough of my pizza was undercooked. Please check your pizza before leaving the store.

This is the food in the trash when I said the food was garbage I was not kidding.

Today September 6, I ordered 2 jumbo shrimp platters from city view Pizza and grill. I have never received such garbage in my life. The fries were completely soggy. The shrimp was burned when I say burnt I'm talking about the shrimps were black. The cole slaw was warm. Coleslaw has mayonaise which should be kept cold at all times. We called the store and spoke to Brian. He claimed he was in charge. But would no let me speak with the store manager. He stated the reason for such poor service is because it's because they were busy and backed up. In my mind I was thinking pretty soon with that kind of service they won't be backed up and they won't be busy for much longer. Just letting you guys know out there that if you ordered from this restaurant you would be rolling the dice. As for me that will be the last time that I order from city view pizza&grill

Sooooo I decided to go back and order cheese fries... Worse mistake of my life

We ordered two Philly cheesesteak and one chicken cheesesteak. We were asked if we wanted "fried onions" and well it the same as grilled onions and not like an onion ring, just FYI. The chicken did not have much flavor but adding the peppers they give you it adds some and my mom enjoyed it. The cheesesteak was good too but also the steak was a bit flavorless. The sandwich is big and you need to ask to be cut in half, they just give it to you whole. It gets busy and they only accept cash. They do have an ATM machine on site if needed. Parking is on the street and not bathroom that I saw. This would be a place I come back but I'll bring some salt and pepper with me.

Rather than waiting around, I was able to place my order easily through the kiosk and settled in to wait. What really stood out was the customer service. The manager noticed the delay, kindly apologized, and even offered me a drink and chips while I waited. That level of hospitality goes a long way and left a great impression. I ordered the Philly Special along with the Hot Honey chips, and both were delicious. The sandwich hit the spot, and the chips were a perfect addition. Yum! Sometimes it's not just the food that makes a place memorable, it's how you're treated. The team handled a busy moment with professionalism and kindness, and because of that, I left happy and impressed. I'll gladly be back the next time I'm in Philadelphia. My friend ordered the classic, I got the Philly special. We had 1 handcut fries. $46.65, $3.74 tax, $7.00 tip. Total = $57.39. You order at a kiosk & wait for your # to be called, with some nuances. The service was terrible. We waited 40 minutes before inquiring. 1 worker said everybody was waiting as long. He could not expedite. But I did see people with a higher order number get served their complete meal before we did. At some point we got fries. We waited 15 minutes. My friend got his sandwich after we nearly finished the fries. Another 10 minutes & I got my classic cheesesteak, because it took more effort to make. For ~$28/person, we shouldn't wait an hour for staggered food. The staff were hard working & pleasant, just overwhelmed. The cheesesteaks were fantastic. But the fries were REALLY over salted. Shay's could be a 4, even a 5 if they fixed the service. I really loved the sandwiches. Lots of meat, perfect cheese melt, nice chunky onions, peppers, & great bread. I'm a fan. Fix the service & don't over salt the fries. You got something good here, take it the rest of the way.

I wanted to get there soon after they opened so we wouldn't have to wait a long time, but we slept in and didn't make it until around 11:40 am. We waited in line less than 10 minutes and we placed our electronic order. We requested two traditional cheesesteaks and a pepperoni pizza. Then we left and walked around the neighborhood a little. We found a place nearby to sit and waited for the text message indicating our food was ready. Not long after, we got the text message. I headed to back to the restaurant and stood in a short second line to pay. Once I paid, we grabbed our food and drinks and went back to our spot. Lots of people were sitting around eating and raving about the food. The sandwiches were large and heavy. The first bite was incredible. The flavors of the bread, cheese, and steak hit you. They were very rich and decadent. It was a delicious cheesesteak. The bread was of the highest quality. I don't think the sesame seeds were necessary, but they do convey quality from the housemade bread. The cheesesteak was incredible and very filling. I only ate half of one, since they were so big. The pepperoni pizza was also incredible. It's one of the best that I've had. The undercarriage of the slices were crispy and thin. The flavors were excellent. The quality was excellent. I was in…read moreChester for a football game, but made some time to stop by both of the city's famous Cheesesteak stands. The Original Pat's King of Steaks is located in South Philly, specifically in the Passyunk Square neighborhood. It sits at the intersection of East Passyunk, South 9th, and Wharton. The building has many different signs and lights that will let you know that you are in the correct place. Since this is in the city, parking can be somewhat tricky. There are times I have had to circle around, or get whomever I was with to drop me off and have them come back. However, sometimes I have secured street parking not too far away. This will just depend on the time of day, and really the luck of the draw, if you are able to easily locate parking. This is an outdoor stand, meaning there is no inside to enter. You will order at the counter, and food is packaged to-go. However, there are some tables surrounding the building that you can dine at. They are all under the roof overhang, so you will be somewhat protected from the elements. On this day, it was not terribly busy. I really did not have to wait in any kind of line before being able to place my order. This was around 4:00 on a Saturday in September. First, I took some time to look over the menu posted near the sidewalk. There is also a helpful guide on "how to order a steak," for those that are unfamiliar. When it was my first time here, I actually found the humorous display very helpful. I placed my order for two classic Cheesesteak Wit, made with Cheez Whiz. When ordering, you specify if you want Wit (with onion) or Wit-Out (no onion). Given that I was wanting to try the most authentic sandwich I could, I opted for the onions and the traditional Cheez Whiz. My sandwiches only took a minute or so to be ready. As stated, it was not busy, and they are able to whip up these sandwiches rather quickly. I ended up taking my sandwiches to-go, and having them for meals the next few days. They reheat well, and have good flavor. I like having the onions on it for an added texture. Pricing is not terrible. Pat's is more expensive than Geno's by $2 for the same sandwich. My total was $36 after tax for the two sandwiches, making them $18 each. You definitely are paying for the experience and the novelty that is coming to this famous corner of Philadelphia. But, this price is not out of the ballpark of other places in the area. The sandwich is a decent size, and you can definitely get two meals out of it if you are eating it by yourself. So, all that considering, it is a fair value for what you pay. It seemed like most menu items were $20 or under. FYI, they take both cash and card. The staff are quick and efficient. However, it will not be the most friendly or pleasant experience, especially if you do not know how to order. I am not saying that the experience was poor by any means, but be aware that this is not Disney World and they will not be overly kind to you at the order window. Being from Pittsburgh, I had never had a true Philadelphia Cheesesteak sandwich until a few years ago when I visited for the first time. Since that trip, I typically make it a point to stop and get a few sandwiches to take back home with me. I enjoy coming to Pat's for the atmosphere, and the true taste of Philadelphia. I recommend giving it a try at least once, just to say you have had it. Plus, the sandwiches are pretty tasty, too. I will definitely be back here on future trips to South Philly.
