    Epic Detroit style pepperoni pizza
    Chris C.

This place is a short half mile walk from the office and I was destined to try the Detroit style pizza. It's fairly small and a narrow show with some two person tables down the hallway. Not much decoration. They had some pizza available by the slice. We ordered a Detroit pepperoni pie which has six pieces. The pie came out about 15+ minutes after we ordered. I was so ready to dive in for a couple reasons. I was definitely hungry but it had also been three months since I had a slice of pizza. Wow. The cheesy crust and the extra sauce on top was delightful. The sauce had a nice fresh flavor and thick consistency. My only judgement would be that the sauce was a bit sweeter than I like. With a spicier sauce, this pie would be untouchable. It was great.

Unsold pizza left outside for the homeless at Tetra.

I've already reviewed Tetra before as a dependably good pizza joint, but on a recent late-night walk, I caught something that was worthy of a mention here. It was around 10:15 pm when I passed Tetra on a late night walk in the neighborhood and caught sight of one of their tables pushed out on the sidewalk with two pizza boxes full of the evening's unsold pizza. The slices, of all sorts, were presumably left out for the local homeless to eat. Kudos to Tetra and yet another reason to patronize them!

Absolutely amazing pizza at a great price. Had the Logan Detroit style pizza (no pepperoni or toppings) and was surprised how good it was. The crust was cooked wonderfully with a nice crispy crunch, able to hold up with the size of each slice. Sauce had a very strong and rich flavor. Lots of cheese though the flavor was more subtle despite how much there is. Overall a great slice and excellent value for how good this is. Been meaning to try this spot for a while and wish I did sooner. Definitely want to try their standard pizza and a few more items from their menu. Thanks

Needed an easy dinner for our last night on vacation in Philly. Saw fantastic reviews for this place and it was just a couple blocks from where we were staying. We went there to order, got the food, and it was absolutely delicious. The perfect pizza for a lazy night dinner.

I like all types of pizza, and Detroit pizza seems to be climbing in popularity. I was excited to try Tetra's Detroit pizza for lunch. I ordered a couple of slices of pepperoni Detroit pizza with a slice of carrot cake. They do offer traditional slices of pizza as well. Detroit pizza is thick, so I really should have ordered just one slice. I was almost full after the first one. It was good but not quite the level of other Detroit pizza I've had. I think it was the crust that was lacking. The icing of my carrot cake got stuck to the top of the container. It was a delectable slice of cake, but scraping icing off the container to try to put it back on top was no fun. With so much competition when it comes to pizza, I don't know for sure that I would come back to Tetra.

My sons and I favorite pizza spot. He always gets 2 slices of cheese. He said it's his favorite because there's a little sweetness in it. My favorites are beef pepperoni and buffalo chicken. The beef pepperoni is always crispy. I don't eat pork and not too many places have good beef pepperoni. I live in Pennsauken , NJ and it's worth the ride.

    Extremely undercooked dough

Bought 2 pizzas Super Bowl Sunday, both pizzas were RAW, ordered 4 extra sauces, only received 2. I ordered thru uber eats and they are zero help. I left a $18 tip when ordered, gave the driver an extra $20 cuz I was grateful. Turns out my food sucked and no refund for the unbeatable food or missing items.

tl;dr the approachable Detroit pan pies are relatively enjoyable and affordable compared to peer pizzerias in the neighborhood From the team behind Evan's Pizza in West Philadelphia, Tetra Pizza quietly debuted in Rittenhouse over the summer. Their extensive menu includes Italian American takeout classics, as well as Greek-inspired sandwiches and pizza toppings. Further, Tetra embraces the Detroit-style pizza rage that's been hitting the city. A stainless steel-adorned counter runs down the middle of the long, narrow space, separating the kitchen from the customers. Apart from a few houseplants and pizza-themed knick-knacks, the room is industrial and drab. A melancholy display of lifeless, thick-crust pies looks unappealing even for the most slice-inclined customer. The turquoise walls turn grey beneath the oppressive, hospital-esque fluorescent lighting, and clanging from the pizza ovens echoes throughout the otherwise quiet space. An orderly line of polished, wooden two-seater tables is arranged in the back. The bathrooms, while clean, strangely lack any locking mechanism. My partner and I placed our order through Grubhub right at opening on a weekday, opting for a Philly More Detroit Pizza (Tetra's version of a meat lover's pie) and Garlic Bread. Immediately, we received a call directly from the restaurant, confirming that our order would be ready in 20 minutes. We arrived according to their estimate, yet we still ended up waiting another 10 minutes before being handed our box. At first glance, the pizza appeared to be minuscule, making its personal-pie-sized takeout box seem relatively roomy. However, in this case, looks proved to be deceiving -- just 2 of the 6 uber-dense slices satisfied my partner's moderate appetite, while 4 sated even extra-ravenous one. The pizza drew inspiration from Chicago and Detroit pies, heavily laden with flavorful grease and a deep layer of cheese sprinkled liberally all the way to the tastefully charred, rectangular edges. None of the ingredients screamed premium, nor did they have to. The plentiful pepperoni and savory sausage stood out among carnivore-centric toppings, balanced out nicely by an even layer of slightly tangy red sauce. Meanwhile, the garlic bread consisted of a long Italian roll dressed with garlic and butter, standard and wholly forgettable. At a hair over $20, Tetra's prices are mildly cheaper than other Detroit-style pizzerias throughout the city, and their hearty pies lean away from the "premium" end of the quality spectrum (although, under no circumstances would they be confused for Pizza Hut or the like). Tetra is nonetheless a welcome addition to a neighborhood in need of a solid, no-frills pizza joint.

Tetra continues to be an excellent neighborhood restaurant. The pizza and stromboli are some of the best in Center City Phila.

I never had Detroit pizza before, but it is so good. I haven't eaten anything else here, so I can only say they do that really well.

The foodie in me couldn't say no. So I went. The ambiance is very casual, with indoor seating. But I took it to go. The service was pretty good. The cheesesteak was DIVINE! The portion was filling. I couldn't eat all in one sitting as I had already eaten half of a cheesesteak elsewhere. But it was absolutely worth the trip. If I remember correctly, it was cash only. I definitely want to go back and have another cheesesteak from Max's.

But the others did and they were treated disrespectfully by the bar made this evening which was Saturday JANUARY 10TH 2026 . I BELIEVE the bar person at that time name was KeKe not certain but she was rude and because one of our family members was sitting at the end of the bar she asked why as if it was an inconvenience for her to walk that far to set e him he said he waited approximately 10-15 minutes before she even reconized him or asked him want he wanted to drink as if it was a issue that she had to walk so far from the rest of the bar area where she seemed to have her particular people sitting and gave them more attention. Once 2 more of us arrived to the same end of the bar it was still a mess the service was not what we where used too especially at Max's even though it was only our 2nd time being there on a Saturday which we were informed was her usual day. Needless to say the rudeness and irritation by her continued she argued with another patron about his drink order, cursed that she did not have to F.....deal with another paying customer who was as also in the same area, and took order from 2 person shot was with his wife and took even longer after they paid for their drink to bring the change back uni she again attended to her patrons at the other end of the bar. She acted as if we were not even worth her time or our money was not the same color as her other patrons who she catered to for most of the evening we where there. Since I work for the City of Philadelphia I would say that this was a blatened sign of what people who visit our city say that Philadelphia is NOT a friendly place!!! My family is from the City of hospitality and this was by far the worst experience for them since they have arrived. The Barmaid seemed to just NOT GIVE A DAMN period.
