Fantastic rooftop atmosphere. Drinks are ridiculous. Small selection and high prices. There is a small bites menu with a few items. A tiny cup of bar nuts is $9. Waiter and host are very nice and attentive. I don't get it. Why so pricy? I had a $13 draft cider. (Not a typo) The waiter asked me if I wanted change on a $20. This is Pittsburgh. What am I missing? Cool spot, poor offerings and prices. That is all.

These items arrived looking nothing like this pic - Ritz Crackers and Wheat Thins from Giant Eagle

This place is a dump! Upon arrival, the host told us it would be 30 minutes before any seating would open up and that there was no bar on the rooftop level for us to go down to The Commoner on level one. There were many empty tables, and before our drinks, even arrived at the bar downstairs in less than two minutes, he was calling our phone to come back up to sit at the same tables that were empty when we were just there five minutes ago. None of the pictures seen in the yelp reviews are reality. What arrived upon ordering was Wheat Thins and Ritz Crackers poured on to a plate with some hummus this place claimed to be worth $15. The pretzel seen in the attached pictures was $28. Any time a restaurant has to use stock photos like the one attached beware. You are being deceived. From overpriced drinks, to misleading food items, to empty tables sitting while a hostess claims booked reservations then, five minutes later, out of thin air, the tables are all free, the Biergarten had no problem taking my money and leaving our group hungry and frustrated. Service Staff underaged and nowhere close to justifying $28 pretzels - Good Lord. Don't waste your time or money. We left with $200 taken from us then stopped elsewhere to get something to eat and drink. If you see me walking into this place again, please don't hesitate to give me a flying burrito throat punch for being stupid.

One of my favorite rooftop bars in the city for the view and the drinks! We had almost each cocktail on the menu and they were all delicious and refreshing. The BG pretzel is incredible and the hummus was super garlicky and delicious.

A cute rooftop bar with views of downtown! This place is perfect for a summertime cocktail or hangout with friends. The cocktail menu is unique with options for everyone and there were quite a few local beers to choose from.

Good spot for a quick stop for drinks and food in downtown. Had a passion fruit margarita that was really chilled down, giving me the needed cool down after spending the afternoon walking and getting to know the town. Spot with views as it's on the rooftop.

Not sure if our experience here last summer remotely compared to what it's like usually but I must say, with the limited capacity due to Covid, it was really nice to get to enjoy this rooftop bar without the crowds. Cocktails were good and food was not bad either.

Like the Kimpton hotel it sits atop, Biergarten is nothing short of spectacular! High end small plates and cocktails are the go to here. Wine selection wasn't as impressive but the focus is beer and cocktails. The string lights, greenery, and overall ambiance was perfect for a rooftop. Definitely make reservations because the rooftop is small. You'll find jenga and other fun games on the roof as well. Parking is at any nearby garages. A perfect ladies night spot!

I went just last week (COVID procedures in place) and it was such a nice evening! Had to make a reservation, which was totally fine and understandable. When we arrived they had our table waiting and ready for us! The menu is smaller, but all the food was excellent and the drinks were beautiful and tasted amazing! It was rather refreshing to have a new-normal night out but feel safe at the same time!

Love the atmosphere, wish it was a little bit bigger. The beer selection is generally good and unique. Been a few times though when it was a bit off which is kind of annoying. The food here is odd. However, despite the weird choices, they have a killer Bavarian pretzel. They are fresh made, huge and the beer cheese accompaniment is delish!

Recommend this place. It's on the 9th floor of the hotel. It's opened to the public. They have decent drinks. You can order food as well. It's a nice atmosphere at that level.

This $20 cocktail was good, but it was also $20

The Biergarten is definitely a fun place to visit. The atmosphere and the views are great, but I wasn't that impressed by the food or drinks themselves. Everything was super expensive, and it really wasn't anything to write home about. We had lots of fun playing board games and sipping cocktails, but I feel like we could have done the same thing somewhere else for a third of the price. Not bad, but definitely not my top pick.

Sweet spot for rooftop drinks if you're lucky enough to get a reservation! The space was large and socially distanced. The cocktail menu had many interesting choices, especially the "Oh you put your pizza in the freezer too?" and the pierogies also made for a great bar snack. 5/5 service and great vibes if you're looking to check out a new view of downtown Pittsburgh!

LOVE the rooftop vibes at this fun bar downtown in the cultural district! Lively spot on the weekends, also hosts trivia some nights. Occasional private events rent out the venue, so make sure it's open before you go.

It's a decent spot if you just want to grab a quick drink from their massive list of draft beers, local ciders, or casual cocktails, and maybe snack on some fried mozzarella or a meatball hoagie while you hang out. The biggest drawback is that the service can be a bit of a gamble. There are times when it's noticeably slow and less than adequate, especially when it gets crowded on weekends. It's a fine place to grab a scenic drink if you're already in the Cultural District, but it's definitely more about the rooftop view than top-tier service or food.

I also really enjoyed the refreshing Prancer's Peppermint Tea. The bartender who made our drinks was pretty nice and was very fast and efficient.

My girl friends and I came after four years of me wanting to come here. I love Gravel Grinder and live close to an OTB so heard of Dancing Gnome from that. Finally made our way there and well, make sure you do not bring young kids. My friend had an 18 month old with us and as she was BUYING a beer from them, the guy who worked there asked if she "could keep the screaming to a minimum." An eighteen month old!!! And Mother's Day is tomorrow, nice. He said that they had to draw a line somewhere and he wasn't kidding. The 18 month old was not running around screaming crying all day. We were outside having the kids play and when my friend was buying a beer he got a bit fussy and was told to keep it to a minimum. Needless to say, we will NOT be coming back. If you have small children, I would not suggest this place. Super disappointing. I've always hyped their beer and place up and now I can't support it. We ended up going to Grist House and it was a WAY better vibe and WAY busier...I wonder why. I should have known when their sign said no dogs allowed.

Our server did a decent job during the visit. The decor of the place felt welcoming with a flare of modern day restaurants. Food wise is where it all went downhill. For our appetizer we had the board which included a variety of fruit and cheeses and meats that are a variation of a charcuterie board. My sister and mother originally were hoping to get Burrata as this place was notorious for it, but unfortunately they were out of it...allegedly. But when we got the board for our appetizer it had burrata on it. Then our orders arrived. I had a pizza with meatballs, cheese, and vodka sauce. My mother ordered the vodka sauce rigatoni which she thought was ok. My aunt got the spaghetti and meatballs with marinara sauce and my sister got the orchedie pasta that was supposed to come with peppers and sausage but instead came out with broccoli and some oily sauce instead which was the opposite of what she ordered. I felt that my pizza tasted bland to the point where after the second or third slice felt that the pie itself lacked in vodka sauce and it was a huge letdown. Unfortunately I will not be coming back and will gladly be taking my business elsewhere.
