I think I'm one of the only people that seem to think that this place is just OK. I didn't dislike it and I didn't dislike my food or the service. I just expected a lot more based on all the rave reviews I heard. I think the biggest thing for me is that this seems to be a place that focuses on Instagramable opportunities, so a lot of thought has been put into having perfect photo opp spots and camera ready dishes. I wish some of that effort was put into making higher quality dishes. The service was great. Friendly and knowledgeable server (although the time I came on my own it seemed like it was something that never happens at this place based on the questions I got about being on my own). That in itself was off-putting. Plenty of people do things on their own. But for the price of the food (and the rave reviews) I was expecting to be blown away. And while the food was enjoyable, it wasn't anything that I was so excited about I would want to try again. Maybe I'll go back with a group and have a different experience. But I definitely don't recommend going if you are on your own. read more

Okay, this place is so over-hyped. It's all style and no substance, as Paul Hollywood would say. The cocktails were good, I'll give them that. But the food and experience seemed like they prioritized the Instagrammability over actual quality. The bruleed oranges were... basically just cooked oranges. Burrata nothing to write home about. My miso black cod, it was almost like they ran out of whatever sauce they normally put on it and instead just drizzled teriyaki sauce from their salmon entree. I'm not exaggerating. Two others at our table ordered the same and were underwhelmed. Honestly, look at my photo in this review and tell me what on that plate is "black miso"??! The cookie table had some decent cookies (I can make better at home). The tiramisu was DRY (you're supposed to soak the ladyfingers!) and among the worst I've had. One plus I'll give them was that the strawberry salad was very interesting visually and quite tasty, though it needed about 4x more of the pretzel mixture to balance. This must be a birthday attraction too, because they were bringing out a dessert with cotton candy and a literal firework about every five minutes and it was so distracting and embarrassing. Cannot recommend coming here unless it's maybe for dessert and cocktails. It's just not worth the money. read more

I had to travel there for work. Lunch wasnt provided for us that day so we took matters into our own hands, Lol. Ritual House staff was extremely friendly and we joined the 5-10 minute wait list because we didnt have a reservation. We were seated within minutes. Our waiter was a young man who didnt miss a beat. We were greeted by him and he immediately took our deink orders. I opt for a ginger ale. For my lunch, I ordered the GREEK PANZANELLA with grilled chicken- garlic croutons, feta, cucumbers, olives, red onion, roasted heirloom tomatoes, red wine vinaigrette. $18. Came here for a rehearsal brunch yesterday before my brother's wedding. It was incredible. Loved the interior of the restaurant -- def a good spot for a date in downtown Pitt. The menu was simple but elaborate o got the breakfast sandwich with a side of fruit and the sandwich was incredible -- eggs with smoked Gouda and ham (though I wish I knew turkey was an option as I prefer turkey over ham!) but still a good sandwich. The deviled eggs were also great! If I'm in the area again I'd come here for sure. read more

We had a lovely time at Ritual House for brunch. The vibe was very trendy and it has a fun, colorful ambiance. The food we had was very good. We got the lemon and blueberry pancakes and also the featured tater tot waffle with eggs. Our waitress Emily was very attentive and made us feel special by bringing us a celebration surprise for our anniversary. There were two things that surprised me that make me hesitate to give it a 5-star rating. When we first got there, the two hostesses didn't really welcome us. One was texting and the other one seemed annoyed that we walked in. The other thing was I asked if I could make a modification in one of the cocktails, but was told it was a batch mix. Obsessed. Came here for my birthday dinner without even knowing they do a great job for celebrations that includes a massive ball of cotton candy and a SPARKLER. Very chic inside. Cocktail menu is deceiving as they didn't have all of the ones listed but they added a few extra that our server was kind enough to bring to our attention. I ordered a daiquiri that was not listed and it was so good. More like thick juice than a cocktail. Didn't even taste like it had alcohol in it. GF ordered a jalapeño marg that was also more sweet than spicy but had the cutest little garnishes. There were many appetizers that were tempting but you really can't ever go wrong with a burrata, especially fried burrata. Theirs was served on a bed of tomato sauce and something green, likely basil related. So fucking delicious. Only thing that would have been better was if there was some bread to put that shit on. Love that they had a specific vegetarian entree: roasted spaghetti squash with creamy spinach, chickpeas, and arugula. This was very good but it was basically cream soup in the bowl with spaghetti squash. I ordered the Asiago stuffed gnocchi with corn in what was billed as a elotes type vibe. Very good and creative. They also have champ bongs which is incredible. How is this not more popular?? We ordered the pair of 2 for $14 (what a fucking steal amirite?) and all of the Gen Z broads at the next table were ooohing and ahhing so that felt like a fucking win for the old millennials. read more

The entire place is so darn cute and picture worthy, the decor is on point! We were able to easily get a reservation and were seated right away. Our server had a trainee with them and both of them were fantastic, so nice and helpful. We both started with the lavender lemon drop mocktails, which were both delish. My only complaint is the weird lavender gem-like hard candy that they use as decor on a stick. Makes you think it's edible which it didn't taste like anything at all and didn't dissolve so I'm not quite sure about that one. It was super cute too. We started with the French onion soup which I would definitely order again. The depth of flavor was insane and you don't get that with many onion soups. It came out right away. We decided to split the Asian fried chicken and luckily we did bc it was enough to feed us both. They were awesome and split it in the kitchen without us even asking. It was delicious! Crunchy, the Asian sauce on the bottom of the plate was flavorful, the slaw on the side was awesome to eat with each bite. My silly complaint here is the knives they give you are terrible. Get new knives!!! We also ordered truffle fries which were good but I've had better. They would have been nicer a little crispier and maybe a little seasonings. It had Parmesan and truffle obviously but idk it just needed something. We also ordered tiramisu and the mocha latte cup. Tiramisu was lacking, no coffee flavor. That mocha latte cup though OMG! It had this mousse inside that was incredible and it was so cute looking like a little latte cup! They were tremendous and boxed everything up for us as well. Ritual house was a wonderful experience today! Some friends and I went for brunch and everything was a vibe: loved the design and decor, the food was delicious, and our server, Sky, was great! I ordered the chicken and waffle which was no frills (just the way I like it). The chicken was juicy and the waffle was excellent. My only suggestion is to not include as much syrup on the waffle (it was drowning) and maybe add some on the side instead. The cold brew was excellent and I loved the vanilla syrup. I've been waiting to eat at Ritual House for quite some time now. Brunch was a must and I truly enjoyed all of the dishes that we ordered. The restaurant itself is beautiful, however I will say that they sat us immediately near the door and the photo space where the swings are. This meant that everyone who wanted a picture were inches from our table which made it uncomfortable. If I return, I will definitely request to sit in the back which looked gorgeous, but far from where we were. Our server was wonderful and the valet was a perk. This is a go to brunch spot especially when seeing a Sunday Matinee! Not many places in the city do bottomless anymore and what can I say I love that option HAHA. No pictures of the mimosas but what I love about theirs is you get to mix the ratio yourself. Perfect for the people who love a whisper of juice with their champagne. (It's me, I'm people) Now for the food, we ordered a table pancake (Coffee Crumb Cake), Sausage Gravy and Biscuits, and Avocado Toast. The pancake was good I wish it had more of the coffee cake flavor throughout though, it was only on the top of the pancake. The sausage gravy and biscuits was for sure my favorite thing. You can pick your eggs to be any way, I chose cheesey scrambled and they were perfect! The potato's were so flavorful I didn't need any sort of sauce for them. Normally I stay away from avocado toast on a menu just because it's usually not worth the price to me. This one was on focaccia and came with 2 poached eggs on top so this is an exception to my rule! Heard great things about this place but sadly our experience fell short. Came here for Mother's Day. Service started off strong, waitress was a sweetheart, but felt as though she became less attentive as our meal went on. We came here because the GF community speaks highly of it. While the menu does have GF things clearly marked, we were disappointed to learn that most of these GF options just omitted the ingredients with gluten rather than providing substitutions (Caesar salad without croutons; strawberry pretzel salad without pretzels). Salmon entree was probably the best thing we had. Short rib entree was very fatty. Drinks, apps, and desserts were all just good at best. In no rush to return since it's pretty overpriced. I have, however, heard great things about their brunch. If you're looking for a place downtown with very "instagram-able" ambiance, this is the place for you. Ava made our experience special. Even with all of the brilliant colors and lighting to enhance the surroundings of our birthday dinner it will be her thoughtfulness and proficiency that completed the experience. Even though the restaurant was full our appetizers and well plated main courses were served with perfect timing. We were given ample time to enjoy our meal through dessert and then some. I do wonder however how such a finely run establishment thinks seating six at a round table with a deep and very low L-shaped bench on two sides could possibly work out. At 6'-2" I had to sit on two cushions to be high enough above the table to comfortably eat. Even then I had at least eighteen inches between me and the back of the bench. If I was seated elsewhere this would be a five but I just can't overlook the inappropriateness of this use of space. Replace the benches. The brisket lacked a bit of flavor and so did the veggie dumplings but the kimchi on it was delish. The best salad was also nice. The cocktails were good that I can say with confidence. Online this place looks regal and higher end. At first the ambiance gives that but the food and drinks absolutely lacked. I sat at the bar and wanted to take part in the happy hour menu. There were tons of people working and multiple people tending the bar. I ordered drinks and a few appetizers with one person and another person delivered them. Our drinks were extremely extremely syrupy and sweet. I asked for club soda to cut through the sweetness. The bartender I spoke to wanted wanted to know who made the drinks and if we wanted them remade. Our food came out and the wrong dumplings were delivered. Again, the person who dropped them off was different from the person who too out order and again wanted to know who took the initial order. Seemed like there was a lot of disorder behind the bar. Ritual House is such a cool spot. The moment you walk in, the space is beautiful. It feels big, stylish, and really inviting. The bar area stood out to me the most. It was gorgeous and the drinks were great, which made the experience enjoyable from the start. As for the food, everything looked almost too good to eat. The presentation was beautiful. I ordered the eggs Benedict, and while the flavor was nice, mine came out a little cold. It may have just been my dish because all of my friends enjoyed their meals and had a great experience with their food. I really want to love this place, so I plan on going back to try something different. Friday night denner while in PGH for the weekend. This is one of a several places on my punchlist and was happy to book a reservation. We checked in at 8:30 for our reservation and were sat in the front room. Dark accents, Edison clear shade lighting, and a trendy club type atmosphere. We placed a cocktail order to start, with me choosing a campfire old fashioned that had s'mores notes and a marshmallow for a garnish. I liked it a lot - had a nice flavor and sweetness to it. For appetizers we shared an order of the deviled eggs, as well as the crab bisque. The deviled eggs were good - nothing that stood out flavor wise, but the bacon chunks were good and added some saltiness. The crab bisque was very good and was served separately with the soup poured at the table and mixed. I don't really necessarily need that kind of exhibition, but the soup was really good: just wish there was more. Large bowl, small amount of soup. Added a bread board as well to have for our entrees which was good and came with butters and jam. For my entree, I went outside my comfort zone and got the short rib. Large chunk of meat that fell apart when touched with a fork, and a nice sauce and cheesy grits underneath. I really liked this dish, which had great flavors, was presented well, and all the components complemented each other. For dessert, I ordered the pumpkin cheesecake which was a circle rather than a slice. It was good - but more spice than pumpkin flavor to me. Last minute decision to have lunch here since I was in the neighborhood, and my friends had told me about their desire to meet here. Since my friends never have time, I figured I'd have some fun alone! I walked in at about 12:45 pm on a Thursday and was able to be seated at a table on the ground level, not too noisy. I ordered the cheesesteak with french fries and it was great. The meat was tender and fresh. Where do I start? The deviled eggs were surprisingly good, the butter board was fun, and the sandwiches were delicious. Our server handled our party with ease even with a picky eater. We had decided last minute to take a coworker here for her birthday. They accommodated our large party and allowed for multiple separate checks. Since moving out of Pittsburgh, I'm not as in touch with the restaurant scene. Ritual House wasn't really on my radar, but more and more, I was seeing Instagram posts of their photo-worthy decor and food. When my sister proposed making reservations during a recent visit back home, I was certainly interested to try it out. We snagged Sunday AM reservations, which was clutch. The restaurant is located right downtown near the Omni, so ideal location for those staying right in the city. I was a little confused on parking and wound up just valeting my car (I thought it was just a general lot), which I wouldn't have otherwise done. No big deal though! Upon entering, it's clear to see why Ritual House is so popular on social media. The decor is quite trendy and picturesque, especially the hanging basket chairs positioned right in the window. Lots of greenery, plush velvet seats, gold tones, and crystal chandeliers surround the entire restaurant. We were seated in the front at a spacious table with hefty but comfortable seats. Our server was attentive and helpful, offering suggestions when needed. The menu is comprehensive, offering a number of sweet and savory dishes as well as more seasonal items. They also have an impressive brunch cocktail menu! For this visit, we just stuck to coffee, which was standard but solid. For my meal, it was tough to decide which direction to go. I ultimately landed on the Brie French Toast, a seasonal item. I enjoyed the mix of the sweet fruit and bread with the more savory cheese, all encompassed by sweet bread (that could have been thicker, in my opinion). I wound up taking part of it home since it was a decent portion! I've had my share of excellent French toasts, and this one was good but not in my most memorable list. My dining partners all enjoyed their meals (opting for more savory dishes), perhaps raving more about theirs than I did mine. The price point was a little pricey for Pittsburgh, but you are certainly paying for the experience. Overall, my brunch at Ritual House was good, but it's more of a trendy spot for the social media fanatics and influencers than a spot I would pick for the best meal in the city. I would revist to try other meals or other options from their brunch menu, and I can see this being more of a spot for a group of friends vs a date night with my husband! read more

Ritual House has been all over Pittsburgh related instagrams, and while I could appreciate its vibes, the food was pretty lackluster. I give props that they tried to make the menu inventive with unique flavor combinations, but many of their dishes fell flat (e.g. the natural butteriness of chilean seabass was completely drowned out by their additional coastal butter seasoning, the citrus brussel sprouts and truffle fries were not crispy, and the she-crab bisque tasted like pure heavy cream with the vaguest hints of crab and no notes of black garlic at all). The one exception of their bruleed oranges which were a delightful contrast of textures and flavor profiles between the funkiness of the goat cheese and natural orange sweetness. We stopped in for dinner before the candlelight concert at the Omni. Once the hostess got off her pink cell phone we were able to be seated without a reservation. Raya was our server and she was great. Patient , helpful and a great energy. The lavender lemon drop was a bit tart for both ladies but the Black Forest cake martini and the Beani-Timmy were great. The Fried Burrata was delicious. My wife enjoyed her Asian Fried Chicken. The Tiger Shrimp was good and the sauce was delicious. Only improvement would have been a little less of the shell left on the tail. The New Brunswick Scallops were worth every penny.
