6:30 am on a Saturday morning and my dog was sprayed by a skunk. Uggg... Called everywhere for bathing and Citydog was able to fit me in at 8am. After confirming vaccination information and signing a release, I dropped him off. 1 hour later he was freshly groomed and no smell! Well worth the $80 plus $20 tip. Very disappointing experience this time around. We try very hard to keep our dog with long hair. We only shave if absolutely necessary therefore we brush daily. I brought him in for a clean up of his face only and requested a round teddy bear look. The rest of his body wasn't supposed to be touched. When I arrived I checked out and paid $95 plus $10 tip. I should have waited. When my dog came out he had been shaved completely. Beyond being shaved his stomach area looked shaved by different blades. What I had been working hard to avoid by brushing him daily was undone without my consent. Now we have to wait 3 months for full growth. I called the facility and talked to a nice young lady, but since then I've had to follow up and no one has reached out to help. I probably won't be bringing my dog here again. read more

TLDR: Lois is one of the most rude, angry, and incompetent people I have encountered at any business. I just don't understand how she is not fired. Read this story and see if this is somewhere you want to go for yourself! ----- I've been going to this location for a while and all the staff have been super nice, and great customer service. However i think they have recently changed the manager or my first time interacting with her. Don't know her name, 1) she is SUPER RUDE and doesn't listen to customers and follow the instructions on how to do the styling. 2) unwillingly charged me $80 for half a day boarding because they never called me and notify me to pick up my puppy. 3) She didn't take ownership of her mistake, and without my permission charged my card. And didn't connect me with her manager. I really don't get how she became the manager of the store. 4) a few of my friend and family used to go to this store and after this incident we will never go again! ---------------- Edit 2 weeks after ^: The general manager (Andrew) called after this review and he kindly offered a complementary bath to make me happy. Extremely kind and understanding business owner. So I go to the the appointment, and Lois is there arguing with another customer also, again super rude and communicates with anger, like I owe her something. Makes me wait 10 minutes for absolutely no reason, that I almost leave to call Andrew again. Once I ask for a reschedule so I can call Andrew, she starts cooperating and accept coco. 3 hours later someone calls me to pick up coco and I get there in 1hr. She says no you are a few minutes later than one hour (this is absolutely crazy to me) and again starts fighting and charged my card for $50 for boarding without permission (this is literally credit card fraud). I call for the record the office but unfortunately Andrew wasn't available. It's crazy to me that a business is willing to make a loyal customer (more than 4 years, and brought many other customers) run away with bad taste, over something so stupid. Unprofessional and disorganized. I had an 830 am grooming (wash and face trim) for my 11-month-old puppy. One of the reasons I chose city dog club and made an early appointment was so I could watch the wash, which is what they advertise and be "in and out". I showed up at 827 and was told the groomer was handling a skunked dog who arrived late, so my appointment would be 30+ minutes late and my puppy could wait in the pen while the groomer was finishing. First, the entire office reaked because of the skunk smell so there was no way I was going to let my puppy into the groomer area with that smell. I'm sure some of that smell leaked onto the groomer's clothes. My nostrils are still smell the lingering skunk smell an hour later when I'm at home which is a common side effect in humans. Second, I did not want to leave my puppy in the pen where she would be overstimulated and exposed to other dogs since she recently recovered from a digestive issue. read more

I considered CD with very high hopes for daycare. We decided that it wasn't a fit for us after two flags we witnessed during our first visit. -- 1) How they hire. They will hire almost anyone. The staff member I spoke to confirmed that the jobs are all entry level, with the exception of grooming staff. This made sense, as everyone seemed to be under 30. 2) Hygiene and potty practices. Citydog is 100% indoors (unless you pay extra for walks), which can have implications on potty training and the smell that your dog can leave with. The staff claims that this doesn't impact potty training, but...come on, that's...that's false. :| There's a designated mat centered in the room, but it's small. We saw many of the dogs just peeing on the walls. -- Beyond these two flags, I'm leaving two stars instead of one because the staff was friendly and I liked their client portal tech. I wish more dog places had Citydog's caliber of client-friendly tech. I feel a little bad leaving this review, but as most of the low ratings here are based on grooming or personal drama, I feel like this data point could help other dog owners make a meaningful decision in where they choose to send their pups. read more

We have been a regular customer for my two furry babies for the last 3 years. The team is consistently reliable and helpful. Carolyn who is the manager there is the best. She is always willing to assist and takes wonderful care of my dogs. Ex: one of my dogs eats too fast but we forgot to let them know, and she noticed and make sure feed her separately and even used slow eater. She remembers which dogs my dogs goes along with and which don't and accommodate for them. For past boarding / daycare places I've used, cages were always the norm, and playtime with the other dogs mixed in. But here my little guy gets to hang in the play area with his friends all day and all night! We've been bringing our dog here for over 2 years. Caroline, the manager, is great. We've seen significant improvements in the operations since she joined the team. When there's hiccups, she is a great communicator and problem solver. The staff know us by name and are always very friendly. Their grooming is also wonderful! Our dog is comfortable with the co-existing environment and looks forward to going in to daycare when we drop her off. I can watch the live cameras of her play area throughout the day. And they recently upgraded their booking platform to look more modern. We think it's such a safe and good place, we literally drive out of our way on commutes to take her there. read more

This review is solely for Madeline she is one of the assistant Managers at City Dogs. She has a fantastic aura as soon as you walk through the door. She has exceptional customer service and such a bubbly personality. The groomer had left for the day and my fur baby needed her nails trimmed desperately. Madeline was sweet enough to do it herself. Having her type of personality working at the doggy Salon is vital because it sets a comfortable setting to drop off your fur babies too. She made me so comfortable to hand her my baby. Usually, it's difficult for me and my baby, bc she doesn't just go to anyone, but Madeline won me over. Thank you, girl. Looking forward to her grooming appointment in Mid-July. We have been bringing our dog to City Dog for almost 2 years and our dog enjoys his time there as well. The convenience of dropping off and picking up our dog at any time is wonderful and they have several additional services that are available for extra cost. However, we have had some issues with our dog being fed. By the way, it is also a $3 fee for them to feed your dog. There have been three separate days at daycare where our dog was not fed throughout his entire stay, which left him without food for over 12 hours. I left clear instructions with the staff as well as on their online reservation system and their reason was that they are too busy to feed my dog. When we talked to them, they were apologetic but were unaware of the situation, possibly due to staff changes throughout the day. We are a little frustrated and honestly sad because we have been happy with City Dog until the past few stays at daycare where our dog hasn't been able to eat. read more

Still no response from the company. City Dog is completely ignoring my phone calls and my complaint to the Better Business Bureau. I was sold a "package" of boarding/walks. Them was charged for services that should have been covered by the package. Then when I called to straighten it out I was me with unbelievably hostile attitude and told the "manager" would call me. I don't think there is a manager. I am out more than $500 in this misadventure. Maybe I don't ever get that back. But I just want people to know the nature of this business. My entire experience with CityDog! club was nothing but a positive experience. This is the first dog I've ever had and he's never been to the groomers before. We were requesting quotes from several groomers and this was by far the least expensive one we were able to find. I was quoted $60-80 for just a simple bath and nail trim. Citydog club only charges $47 for a short haired 35lb dog. Even before we booked the appointment, Lauren was very responsive and followed up asking if we had any questions or needed any help. My dog Tibbers (9 months old) hates being groomed when we try at home so we had to take him to the groomers. His groomer, Elena Woods, must've been a dog whisperer because she said she was able to groom, clean his ears and trim his nails with no problem (though he was whimpering a bit). She took photos of him throughout the bath and they give you a report card with an overview of how he responded to the treatment. She went above and beyond my expectations and I'm so glad his first ever grooming session was with her! He came out smelling so good and soft. Even when I bathe him at home he never feels or smells this good. They even put a cute bandana on him when he was done. I hope they're able to keep rates this low! When they're not ready to see the dog yet, they keep them in their own little room and provide them with water. The service and how friendly everyone was just blew my mind. The only thing I regret was staying around to wait. We were walking around the shopping centers because we thought it would take an hour. We dropped him off at 4:30, his appointment was at 5:00 and we ended up getting the call to pick him up at 7:30. It's good to know so we'll just go home next time. Also, note that a rabies vaccination needs to be on file. They'll require them before the dog is able to be groomed. read more

I was new to the service and talked to multiple people working there before purchasing the day care package. All people I talked to confirmed that there was no expiration date of the day care package. Now, I was told the package expired. I lost 7 days remaining ($350+ value) from the package. I was told there was nothing they could do about it. I wouldn't purchase the package if there was expiration date. I lost $350 in this situation. read more

Our visit to the groomer ended at the Emergency Clinic. After a trip to the groomer on Saturday, my dog was left with injuries that persistently troubled him (and continues to trouble to this day)! Immediately after we left the grooming salon, the dog felt very nervous, constantly tried to lick his belly and his ass, breathes rapidly and could not stand on his paws (only lay on his stomach) I was very worried about his feeling. This forced me to seek emergency care on a late Sunday just to address the harm. Where I had to pay $240 for a visit and emergency care. It appears the groomer had limited knowledge about the delicacy required when trimming hair from sensitive areas of an animal's body. I can't imagine what the groomer was thinking when he decided to shave the dog's butt, belly and his penis. As of today (sixth day after grooming), there is skin irritation on my dog's belly, buttocks and penis. we have to give him pills and treat patches of skin. Grooming in the Citydog club brought us additional unnecessary expenses and moral damage. I am very upset by the situation and the incompetence of the staff of this grooming salon. read more

I am so impressed with Carolyn, the manager, who is always so kind and genuinely interested in the welfare of all of the dogs in her care. We DID try the grooming services as well AND they really are convenient, quality, and reasonably priced. On the day of our pups grooming, we dropped him off a bit early to play and exert energy in the play areas prior to his appointment and got a call when he was about done to inform us he will be ready for pickup and/or have him return to the play park. I really appreciate this option of the play park because our dog gets extreme anxiety in a crate and most importantly, it makes me cringe when I've seen that setup at other groomers. Also, I appreciate that they use good smelling natural products but not ones that are overly perfumed/overly smelly. Sometimes there is a delay to get an appointment but what good place doesn't have that. AND they actually call people on their waiting list if you want something sooner. This is now where we regularly schedule our pups grooming. read more

We take our dogs here for daycare and boarding. We have boarded them in suites and in the play park. We were out of town for an extended about of time and one of our dogs cut his paw badly while there. Staff called us immediately and kept us updated. Our little guy had to have surgery while we were away! It was a very bad situation. The staff kept us updated and took extra care of our other dog that was stressed. This all happened in March 2021. We have noticed a change in staff and it feels like something has change, possibly with management or lack of staff- not sure but we still intrust them with our furry babies. My husband and I love taking our dog here and he absolutely loves coming here. We live in south San Jose and we totally think it's worth it to drive up. We love the small groups for all day play so he can really enjoy himself and the dependable handlers who also do health checks whenever you bring your dog in. Once our Meet and Greet was over we knew we wanted to bring our Hana here so we got the 20 pack since they were doing a promo(4 comp all day plays when you buy the 20 pack. We thought it might be a little weird having to street park on El Camino for pick up and drop off, but we really don't have trouble parking. The facilities are sparkling clean, the handlers are friendly and professional, and we love the fact that we can see Hana playing from the outside!
