The speed keeps getting worse and worse, the promised new hardware capable of faster speeds but nothing g thus far

I had an excellent experience with Chinzo from Cityside Fiber today who installed the fiber optic line into my house. From start to finish, Chinzo was professional and courteous. Before doing any physical work, he took the time to explain my options for how the fiber line would enter the house and where the router hookup box would be best placed, taking into account optimizing the wireless signal to reach all areas of the house. I appreciated how he walked me through everything so there were no surprises. The physical installation itself was quick, efficient and clean. And after everything was installed, Chinzo verified that the connection with my Google Nest WiFi system was working as expected. Thank you and many kudos to you! read more

I wanted to see if I could get it because their advertisements keep popping up. When I go to the website rather than just confirming my address as available they require me to put in my phone # and email address. What should have been a 10 second lookup becomes a 20 minute sales call. You shouldn't make it hard for me to buy your product. If it's hard to buy I can only imagine how hard it will be when something goes wrong. Edit: My answer to the comment from Cityside fiber. It it's not available then just redirect me to a page that says it's not available. I don't need someone calling me trying to sell me something only to at the end of the call say, yeah, it's not available yet at your address. read more

I'm finally able to get rid of Cox which had almost a monopoly on internet service in my area for almost forty years. Switching to Citywide is saving me over two hundred dollars per month and I was able to add more streaming services than I had with Cox. For the most part internet has been faster, TV works well (once in a while it lags a little). There were a few unplanned outages but only lasted a few hours at he most. They do have planned outages once in a while (usually early morning like 1am to around 6am. Installation took them three trips and went well. Everyone they sent was pleasant and knowledgeable. Response to problems and issues is terrible. I always have to call and email a few times to get answers. Once I get ahold of someone they are always polite and knowledgeable. I'm really happy I don't have to deal with Cox pushy sales people anymore (Polite but obnoxiously pushy). When I called to cancel their service they offered a much better price (not as good as what I have by switching to Cityside though). There's more but that's for a Cox review. So far pretty satisfied. read more

I owe it to Cityside Fiber to update my review. After 2 months of great internet, one of their staff cut our fiber line while attempting to connect our neighbors. Since then, for about a month we had spotty service despite that serviceman patching our line. Fast forward to now where after leaving last review, their service team contacted me multiple times, set me up with new appointments, and showed up and re-ran the line and checked the modem and made sure that my service is now steady. Based on that encounter and where we stand today, I am confident that should this issue still continue, they will be there helping and resolving it. In a world where customer service is non-existent and everything is outsourced to other countries, Cityside Fiber has got their local resources who speak native English and are highly educated in their system and can guide you to troubleshoot. And for that, I am grateful. I am also grateful for the fast and consistent speed internet for a good price. If you are with Cox or any of the others that have locked you into a price and with poor service, I highly recommend Cityside Fiber. read more

Cityside Fiber turned a very negative experience into a 5/5 positive one. The Director of Customer Relations reached out to me (Strider) personally and offered several options to resolve the issue. I accepted one of them, and I also want to say that I genuinely apologized for my part in how things escalated. Just one business day later, Jon-Michael from Technical Support contacted me and scheduled a new installation date. Mike (hands down their best technician) came out, quickly diagnosed the problem, and set up a new system that has been working flawlessly ever since. I can't say enough good things about Mike's expertise and professionalism. Logan also helped get the system configured and running smoothly from the virtual support side. I am now more than happy with Cityside Fiber -- both as an internet provider and as a company overall. If you're having any issues with Cityside Fiber, my strong advice is to escalate to one of the people mentioned here. Cityside Fiber - Mike - Internet Service Providers Near Me - Irvine, California

After years of dealing with Cox's horrible service, especially on the customer service side, we finally have options in the area. Cox Cable's coaxial service is limited, especially in terms of upload speed, as fiber optic surpasses it significantly. In this day and age, the average home has at least 15+ devices connected. Add in additional users in the household, and the demand increases. For most users, a 1Gbps package is enough, but if you want or need faster speeds, be sure to check the following suggestions below, as Networking is my profession to ensure you get the most for the service. There is a difference between having the device connected on Wi-Fi versus Ethernet (wired). In short, Wi-Fi, while fast on a Wi-Fi7 router, is still not as fast as using an Ethernet wired connection. Devices like garage door openers, smart appliances, etc. are ok to be on Wi-Fi on 2.4Ghz and 5Ghz bands. For streaming TV, game consoles, and computers when possible connect using a wired Ethernet cable for best experience on latency and speed. If Wi-Fi is your only option the devices should be on 5Ghz or 6Ghz band if available for the best experience. The 2.4GHz band has been around since the 1990s and will bottleneck the speed, and should be avoided for computers and streaming platforms that require more bandwidth. Just be aware that the general Network 101 rule is Cityside 2Gbps speed package to benefit requires a 2.5Gb LAN port on a wired Ethernet connection. 5Gbps speed package will require a device on a 5Gb LAN port or better. If the device only has a 1Gb LAN port that is most common on most computers your speed will be bottlenecked to only 1Gb. If you have a 2Gb or 5Gb package with Cityside and your computer with a 1Gb only tops out at 1Gb on speed tests, this is why. I signed up for the 5Gbps since I work from home and also need media files and gaming. I choosed not to use the Cityside WiFi supplied router as my home network is on a 10GB LAN Netgear Nighthawk RS700 with a 10GB unmanaged switch. Also note that when running a speed test offered on various sites like speedtest.net, most site servers cap out around 3Gbps, so feel free to try different sites to compare results, as only a few can test on a 5Gbps speed or better. read more

Our HOA entered into an agreement with Cityside Fiber almost a year ago. Based on their assurances, we postponed a major parking lot resurfacing project to accommodate their fiber installation. Unfortunately, communication from Cityside has been minimal, and promised updates have not been delivered. We've repeatedly asked for timelines or clarity, but the responses have been vague and non‑committal. The City has indicated that Cityside is attempting to take on too many communities at once, which may be contributing to the delays. At this point, we have lost confidence in Cityside's ability to follow through on their commitments. We hope they improve their planning and communication before taking on additional communities. read more

if you value your property I highly suggest you DO NOT switch to Cityside Fiber. They installed in my home last week. After the fancy sales rep promises to take care of my front yard and that "you won't even know we were here" it is all a bunch of BS. The first thing they did, after I warned them, and you would think that as part of this type of work that they would be acutely aware of, is, they cut the main irrigation line over the my side yard. They also removed the drainage rocks lining the driveway to bury the fiber, and proceeded to throw the rocks into the mulch, as opposed to keeping them separate to be replaced after. They spread mulch over where they buried the line, which was directly in the drainage path, so with the rains we had last week, all of that mulch proceeded to wash away down into the street and down into the gutters , leaving a mess on my driveway and side yard. I called and sent photos of both the cut line and the mulch. A crew shows up today unannounced with no Appointment to fix the rocks and the mulch which they did. They put a connector over the irrigation line which was not a barbed connector that should be used for that type of connection, and I said that I wanted it done correctly. They assured me someone would come later in the day between one and three hours. I said please have them knock on the door because I want to have a conversation before they do any work in my yard. No one knocked on my door. I went outside at about 6:30 PM and there is now a barbed connector that is not fully inserted properly into the irrigation line and it is still sticking 6 inches above the ground, which is not where they found it. Very shoddy work, very poor follow up. I absolutely would not recommend this company. UPDATE: regarding my call customer service tonight, when I made the call I was told I was third in line and it would take 39 minutes. It is currently two hours and 15 minutes later and I have been first in line for over an hour. This is obviously a company that does not value its customer nor know how to provide amy quality services. They honestly just don't care. read more

Install went smooth other than they scheduled me two days in a row and the same guy showed up each day. He even said on the second day, "wish I would have known I would have done all the work yesterday". That would have been much more convenient and efficient for me as well. Service was down for 12 hours then a few days later it was down again for about six hours then I looked on next-door and they were talking about how horrible the Customer Service was and how unorganized this place so I will stick with Cox and wait until they figure everything out. read more

Service quality is terrible. Can't talk to a single customer care. All you get is voice mail and they never ever call you back. Outages severely times a week lately. When it's not completely out we often experience latency. We were excited to finally have an option other than Cox expensive service. But now we may need to switch back for reliability. read more

FINALLY after a Cox monopoly for far too long, South OC is getting Fiber! No more overpaying for internet, no more data caps, faster speeds, and less latency--WOOHOO! The install was painless, their techs are super nice, detail focused, and will go out of their way to help. I waived using their equipment as I already have really nice networking gear and at first I wasn't getting my full speeds. The network installer stayed to troubleshoot, even though I was told in my pre-consult phone call that I'd be on my own for figuring out my equipment. I was blown away with the level of customer support. Cox would've probably left ASAP, haha. I did end up figuring out my personal network gear's settings (ASUS's QOS apparently needed to be disabled) and since then speeds have been great! Service has been reliable too for the past 3.5 months I've had service. The only downside for me, that probably won't effect the majority of users, is that this service puts you under a CGNAT. So if you host anything you'll need to use 3rd party solutions to access your stuff externally (e.g. Cloudflare Tunnel, Tailscale, or purchasing a VPS to host your own VPN). Talking to their rep you can't even pay extra to get a dedicated IPv4 address. They did say, however, that they plan to roll out IPv6 addresses at some point. I'm keen to see when that happens and plan to update this review with how that goes. read more

4th outage since signing up at the first of the year. Outages are long. We both work from home and rely on dependable internet which is why we switched from cox. Today went down just I was in mid sentence doing a screen share for work. Not good Considering going back to cox which isn't so great either but at least it was not as bad as city side. Their frequent and length of outages, lack of info on when service will be restored is frustrating. I'm having to tether to my cell phone more than I ever have had to before. Kind words in a response only go so far. I'm sorry to have to say this since they're local, it's just not dependable. read more

I started service since beginning of June 2026. First of all, I was very pleased with the crew who installed the fiber cable to my house. They dug up a path in my lawn to run the fiber cable to my house and put things back like they were never there. Then the technician came and did a phenomenal job in installing the fiber modem and I got internet by the time he was done. Very happy with the 1gig speed. My issue is I work from home and internet disconnected while I was working at least twice within weeks. It took at least 10-15 min before it came back on. Today 6/13/2026 at around 10:15am it disconnected again. I have tried calling tech support but they were no help. I was hoping switching to fiber would be more reliable but so far, a little disappointed. read more

Hazzah! We finally have ISP competition in our neighborhood and I'm glad it's Cityside. Great experience overall and such a huge difference from COX. Some small hiccups with the initial scheduling but nothing bad and the concierge team rescheduled pretty quickly and efficiently. They basically called to reschedule to the next day, which wasn't a big deal and happened well on advance for me to make work adjustments. Outside hookup was done on one day. The techs were super friendly and did a nice job. Inside hookup was done the following day. Robert was also super friendly and efficient and did a great job and knew what he was doing. Internet works great so far, no throttle issues during video conference calls, like I've experienced with COX. More speed (up and down) and better connectivity. Hopefully that will stay that way, but hard to judge based on a few hours only. Value is excellent. Hopefully that also stays that way. We've all been burned by the big guys and their lower entry cost before, before they jack it up again. Hoping you remain the good guy - Cityside Fiber! Update: CitySide posted a response to my initial Yelp review that they already provided compensation, supposedly a day after they acknowledged receipt of my complaint. Unfortunately, not only have I received $0 to date, I have not gotten any meaningful updates from their support team of Account Executives and Project Managers. I've left multiple inquiries over the last two months since this has happened, and the only response I've gotten, is their false claim that they've already resolved my issue and provided compensation for the $700 water bill I received after their construction team severed our water main. Like really? This is a branch of an $8+ billion dollar investment firm but y'all going around screwing random people for $$$ who aren't even your customers? I have a pending installation to switch over to Cityside, but after this experience I think I'm just going to stay with Cox. Absolutely absurd customer support. read more
