From start to finish, working with Citywide Custom Gutter was a disaster. I initially worked with Roger on the bid and it was like pulling teeth to get him to give straight answers and return calls. This should have been a red flag and reason to go with another company, but I reluctantly decided to go with them on a recommendation from my roofing company. When it came time to install the gutters, I was at home watching the installation. After the first gutter run was hung, I mentioned to the head crew member, Jacob, that the gutters looked like they were hung way too low. Jacob assured me that the gutters were hung at the correct height and there would be no issues. The crew then proceeded to install the rest of the gutters. A few days later, I decided to do a water test (which Citywide never did) and sure enough, the gutters were hung too low - a moderate amount of water running off the roof, overshot the gutters, rendering them useless. Upon bringing this concern up with Citywide Custom Gutter, I was told they would only do the repair (of their shoddy installation) if I paid them $400 ON TOP OF the original amount I already paid. They claimed this was because I had told them to hang the gutters low, which was a blatant lie. This company does not stand by their work and when issues come up, blames the customer. I just had Citywide Custom Gutters installed yesterday and am very pleased with their service! I had called another Gutter installer first and he recommended Citywide due to my home needing the Fascia 6" gutters (home has no fascia board). The receptionist was very helpful, and the owner Roger called me that day to schedule a bid the following day. He was very knowledgeable and helpful.The price was very reasonable especially since the home has a hip-roof needing gutters to surround the entire home. They scheduled me in for the following week. The work crew began work tearing down my old gutters and downspouts at 8:00am and replaced with seamless steel gutters and downspouts 11:00-11:30am. They were hard working and did an excellent job, and hauled away all the debris and left everything clean and neat. The gutters look wonderful! We had City Wide Custom Gutter referred to us by a local roofer. Roger came out to our rural home and looked at our simple single-family residence, needing only 2 straight 47' gutters. So, these people sent their quote to our roofer, who forwarded it to us. In the meantime, we changed our plan from a metal to a composition roof, so I emailed Roger Kruse, Owner/Estimator, asking for a modified quote considering the changes in design and color. Much to my surprise I got a call from Roger, who seemed insulted by my contact and request, then he abruptly declined our little job. He exclaimed several times that he just couldn't make any money on it, repeating several times that this all-day job, needing 3 men and would just not be worth their trouble. How do these people stay in business? Maybe a two-hour job with 3 men. Less than one hundred feet of painted steel gutter. The original quote was over $1700.00 and I suppose that's just not enough for two 47' gutters. I'm insulted and dismayed! If you need new gutters, it might be best to keep looking beyond City-Wide Custom Gutters, who's main message to me was that they didn't warranty against "Act of God" failures, described as; "heavy snow", when Roger was on site. read more

After some back & forth I got the estimator out and then 'scheduled' the install which had a 4-6 week delay. When I say 'scheduled' I mean that there is no actual date or time to plan around. When it had been 5 weeks I called to make sure they hadn't lost my name or anything and that Thursdays & Fridays worked for us because there would be someone home. The lady was cheery & pleasant but couldn't give me any further details except that she would pass along my info to the install crew. Another week elapsed and I finally got a call from Roger saying they might get to me the next week. When I mentioned about Thurs/Fri installation he said that they can only do M, T or W because they do WA jobs on Th & Fri. *deep breath* *eyeroll*. This is the first I heard about that. Roger still had no actual date for the install but said that he'd call me when he knew. On this past Monday Roger contacted me & said they would come out Tues "afternoon". I asked if he could narrow it down as one of us had to take time off work for this. No response. My husband ended up taking the day off work then sitting around the house all day waiting for an installation crew that never showed up. When I called Roger at 5pm to ask WTH he replied that the day was crazy and they would need to reschedule for another time. But he couldn't tell me when. But maybe next week. But he would call me when he knew more. Probably next week he would call me but he was unsure about that also. WHO STAYS IN BUSINESS OPERATING LIKE THIS?l UPDATE: within 1-2 minutes of posting this review I got a call from CityWide about this review. He explained that I didn't understand that sometimes things happen, they've been in business for 11 years, they have many other things to worry about other than contacting me and that I needed to find another company to work with. Avoid dealing with this company! We got an estimate December 14, 2020 and called to give the go ahead on December 29. At that time, we were told it would be 4-6 weeks out, which was acceptable. As of February 25, 2021, no contact from Citywide Custom Gutters. We called on 2/25 and it seems that Roger Kruse had no recollection of the estimate or subsequent conversation; he stated he would get the job on the schedule and call back. We called again March 1, as no one at the company had communicated in any way, shape or form. Were told that they would come out March 15. March 15 was a no call, no show. Roger Kruse showed up unannounced on March 17 and he was told we were getting another estimate; had been more than patient and his lack of professionalism was holding up other necessary work to our home. He attempted to bully us verbally and threatened to charge us as he had bought the metal. Went so far as to send an invoice for a "re-stocking fee". When I called to advise him to cancel for all of the reasons, he shouted at me, attempted to bully me and threatened collections. Of course I asked him to turn it as then I could pursue legal recourse. The date I was to receive an email verifying cancel of the bogus invoice, he called three times between 11:49AM and 12:05PM. Avoid like the plague. I shudder to think how many folks have been bullied into paying "re-stocking" fees when the company never followed through... read more

I replaced 2 26 ft gutters. The estimates I got from other gutter companies were more than two three times higher than this gutter company. It turns out they are not cheap. They are honest. Others are ripoff. They did an excellent job. You may have to wait 4-6 weeks for installation, but I have no complaints whatsoever. Waiting is better than getting ripped off. "Custom" is entirely misleading. After rescheduling the estimate multiple times, they finally came to my house (late). I told the guy the exact same thing I said on the phone, and he told me that the project was too big and they couldn't do it. What a waste of time. read more

These guys are cheap - for a reason. They have no common sense. They were subcontracted out by our contractor and shorted our gutter by about 3' - when it was blatantly obvious they needed to go a bit further to get the job done right. The guys took off without asking us to come and take a look at the work before they left and I had to call and chase them down. Not impressed. You definitely get what you pay for with this team. read more

Very pleased with the service and work product of Citywide. We had a 1800 ft house job with black gutters on a few levels and gutter guards on one side of the house. The price was very reasonable and the entire job was done in about 4 hours. They were quick to respond and come out for a quote, were able to get us (and our neighbor) done about 2 weeks later and we had no issues whatsoever. Very responsive with any calls as well. Scheduling was a little funny, but their price was 40% less than the other company who quoted us. I live in Parkrose neighborhood, so I'd been looking at Portland companies. I'm convinced that Portland companies charge more than they need to... because they can! If I remember correctly, they called us the day before coming out after several hit-and-miss calls back and forth. Again, though, 40% cheaper. For us, a small job, that was $400. I'll take it!! I called City Wide Gutters to give me a replacement bid of our single car detached garage in Oct. 2015. They indicated they were 30 days out. I never heard back from them until Wednesday Jan. 6, 2016. They sent 3 men out the next day Jan. 7 to replace the gutters. I was told I didn't need to be at home for them to do the job. I took pictures of everything on and around our patio because we had alot of things on the patio. I also moved everything out from around the garage. When I got home they were finishing up. I noticed that our garage window was wide open. Our garage door was locked. I asked one of the workers why my garage window was open. He said, "I don't know anything about that". Which I replied, "really because when I left this morning it was not open". I had to go into the house to relief myself. When I came out they were driving out of the driveway. I came out and shut the window. That Sat. Jan. 9th my husband and I left as we always do to visit his Mother who is in a home. When we returned we noticed a circular saw on our patio chair. It was our saw! It was then that I realized that City Wide Gutters broke into our garage to use our saw. This saw was on a bottom shelf in our garage and a person had to move some things out of the way to get to it ! I contacted the owner Rodger Kruse to come out and explain why my window was open. He explained to me that on Thursday their saw had broken and generally they should call the company and they would have sent someone out to replace the equipment and they should have asked to use the homeowner's saw. I also showed him the picture that I took before and after. I sent him half of the 639.60 since they broken into our garage and stole our saw and didn't return it until Sat. Jan, 9 2015, Rodger called to let me know that I owe him the balance and he didn't know I would have put a monetary value on this. Then he sent me to collections for the balance of $288. So I have decided to let other people know that this Company is anything but honest !!!! read more

I really don't want to be writing this review but I really think they need to step up their game quite a bit before I would recommend these folks. First, when doing the estimate they left off a couple of things on my quote even though we discussed it......but the worst was when I was rudely awoken at 7am to crashing & banging & someone walking on the roof of my house. We had discussed that there were particular days when they could come to my house to work on the gutters AND that I needed a call in advance so that I made sure everything was clear for them to access the roof. The man who quoted the repair said...'we will call before we arrive'..to which I quickly responded 'No. I need a day or 2 lead call.' But I did not get a call at all.....and the couple of things that needed to be done in advance of their arrival had not been done. So they were only going to be able to do HALF the job & come another day. After they left, I inspected the job & found that they had nailed in the trim board & broke off a long chuck of the trim & it was kicked under the porch....& I had not 'leaf traps' as I had requested. After a very long conversation about the way this was handled & the repairs they would be doing to my house, we rescheduled for the back of the house. They came as requested and at a reasonable hour & completed the job...BUT on the first rain I discovered that one run of the gutter had been jammed up under the 'drip line' of the roofing, curling up the edge so high that it caused the water to pool on the shingles behind the gutter & water ran down BEHIND the GUTTER & the trim board. At this point, I had had enough........I really did not want to deal with them again! A friend & I took it down & fixed the issue. I would not recommend them. read more
