We brought our kitty to Dr. Alexander, traveling from San Diego, last summer. He had suffered a mysterious dislocated jaw injury and unfortunately we're quoted thousands of dollars here in the states. We were forced with the option to either put him down, or explore across the border clinics. Going into debt was not an option for us. We were recommended Dr. Alexander and a few other local vets. His clinic was most available to treat our kitty at the time. We are extremely grateful for the care we received, and almost a year later, our kitty is in perfect health. The service, the empathy & understanding made our experience smooth. His clinic definitely took on a more holistic approach and gave us the reassurance we needed. Vets here in the US were recommending all kinds of unnecessary treatments. It was fascinating to learn more about the primal nature of our pets and their self-healing abilities. Many US treatments are absolutely unnecessary and rob you if your money. $100 later after X-RAYS, medication and an adjustment on our cats jaw, we can confidently recommend Dr. Alexander and his thoughtful staff. They are also English speaking. I highly recommend you do your research, prepare yourself, and keep an open mind. Us Americans have a lot to learn from other cultures and practices.

Dr Alexander is very experienced. Vaccines are super cheap about $15 when in the states I pay close to $200 on vaccines. They offer dog grooming services and a very effective Bravecto flea pill which works way better than the other flea pills I've tried. Definitely recommend

Not impressed with communication, didn't receive X rays that I paid for. Receptionist is no help. They need to get better organized.

I brought my 4-year-old German shepherd dog to this clinic for ACL surgery because the cost was…read moresignificantly lower than what I was quoted in the United States. Looking back, it is one of the biggest regrets of my life. Before surgery, my dog was otherwise healthy. He would occasionally carry his injured leg due to the torn ACL, but he was still happy, active, playful, and acting completely normal. One of the first red flags should have been that I was never able to speak directly with the veterinarian--not once. All communication went through staff members. I also requested medical records and surgical notes multiple times and never received them. Exactly one month after surgery--the same amount of time I was told the pain injection would last--my dog began yelping, screaming, and showing signs of severe pain. Watching him suffer was heartbreaking. We immediately took him to our regular veterinarian in the United States for a second opinion. After evaluating him, they recommended revision surgery. During that procedure, they discovered multiple issues that needed to be corrected. We were told they essentially had to perform several repairs in one surgery because of the condition of his leg. According to our veterinarian, the plate had not been properly secured, his kneecap was out of place and had to be repaired, his meniscus was torn, and he also had a fractured bone. It was devastating to hear, but it finally explained why my dog had been screaming in pain. Around this same time, I also began noticing that his eyes looked cloudy. I brought it up to our veterinarian, but because of the severity of the orthopedic issues, we focused on getting his leg repaired first and planned to address his eyes afterward. Unfortunately, his condition continued to decline. He lost vision in one eye and then the other. Shortly after going blind, he began having difficulty standing and getting up on his own. Despite everything we did to help him, he continued to deteriorate and ultimately passed away only a few months after what should have been a routine ACL surgery. I cannot say with certainty what caused all of the medical problems that followed, but I do know that I brought a healthy 4-year-old dog in for a torn ACL, and a few months later he was blind, unable to get up, and gone. The lack of communication, the inability to speak with the veterinarian, the refusal or failure to provide medical records despite multiple requests, and the extensive corrective work required by my U.S. veterinarian have left me with far more questions than answers. If I could go back, I would spend the extra money and have the surgery done in the United States. The money saved was not worth the outcome, the suffering my dog endured, or the heartbreak my family has experienced.

It often felt like the nicer the place looked, the less they actually cared about the pets. Because of that, I gave up and kept paying the ridiculous vet prices in San Diego... until I simply couldn't take it anymore. Thank God I found Club de Nana on Yelp. After reading all the great reviews (and yes, they're REAL), I decided to give them a chance, and I'm so glad I did! From the moment I walked in, I could tell this place was different. The entire staff truly cares about every pet that comes in. They don't see animals as $$$ signs, they listen, they explain, and they care about your fur babies. My first green flag was seeing multiple pets being cared for behind the front desk, literally hanging out freely instead of being locked in cages, I absolutely LOVED THAT!! There are no appointments, you just wait your turn. I've been there four times, and only once did I wait for my turn about 15-20 minutes. Every other visit was less than 5 minutes. The clinic looks like a house from the outside, so parking is limited, but even then I only had to wait about 10 minutes once. I took my 7-year-old pittie because he was bleeding while peeing. They ran different tests, diagnosed him with an enlarged prostate, and recommended surgery (neutering). It's now been 11 days since he got surgery at El Club de Nana, his stitches are out, the bleeding is completely gone, and he's happier and has so much more energy. From the bottom of my heart, thank you to the doctors Lulu and Francisco, and the staff at Club de Nana. I have my healthy, happy boy back, and I couldn't be more grateful .

Groomers and myself have a hard time trimming them, because shes had a bad experience and ever since it's been tough. They told us to come 09/01 to bring her in for her cleaning. We bring her and front desk told us she'll possibly be done by 3pm. We get a call that there were other pets that had emergencies. We completely understand, but now she'd be done or out by 6-7pm. This entire process took us 12 hours. While her being under anesthesia would be the best outcome for a dog since they wouldn't be moving, they did not care AT ALL about her quicks. I understand that vets/vet techs are challenged with dark nails. But nails were shaven down extremely too short and uneven. She bled on all her nails. It sucks for those who also had a bad experience, everything in front desk felt absolutely rushed. We were speaking to too many different people at a time. Im also unsure if they treated her well during her dental cleaning if this is what her nails look like. I haven't gotten to look at her teeth yet since she's been exhausted after her appt yesterday. I will probably update, or not. I'm not returning to this place.

We've been coming here for several years now for vaccinations for our chihuahua. Located a few miles from the Otay border, I noticed the place when I was having work done on my vehicle at a nearby shop. I dropped in one day and saw the prices, which totally wooed me back! It had started to become inconvenient and expensive here(in US) for us. The prices are super reasonable and of course much lower than anywhere in the US. The quality and level of care is equal to if not better here, yes, believe it! Note: Take the time to exchange dollars into pesos, to avoid miscalculations and improper change back from transactions. On our occasional visits, there has been only one quality, licensed veterinarian that does all the exams and vaccines. Actually, we like this. He remembers our dog even though we come only once a year, and this goes a long way with us. He scolded my wife when she confessed to giving our little dog pork & chicken bones. I warned her.. More of a personal touch. It's never been a long wait time, and we can drop off the dog and hit Wicho's across the street, or shop at Soriana, which happens to be in the same parking lot. We always call ahead,(which I recommend)to make sure the doctor is in that day. It is a full on pet and feed store too with many items for cats, dogs, birds, chickens, etc. They have found a customer for life!!
