Went to our usual spot, Clancys! I saw the Big Tae special on their Facebook and had to try it! It was smoked brisket and bbq sauce on mac and cheese. It was delicious. If you see it on their specials, definitely give it a try. As always, the service and staff were great!

I've been back here many times now and it's just getting better and better every single visit! The duck and sausage gumbo is freaking fantastic! It seems to be a little different each time but that's just fine because it is so damn good! I think it's due to age and temperature mostly. Gumbo changes a good bit over time. I have to start buying this by the gallon and freezing it! Brisket!! Holy crap I found a place with good brisket. Last time, I just ordered, and got a mix of fatty and lean, I wished I'd have asked for all fatty because it was perfect! I'm not sure how he does it so well with such little volumes of people dining here. Onion rings are the best I've ever had! Perfectly cooked and honestly the best breading I've seen in the onion ring game. Check out my picture of that salad. Ridiculous! Catfish is great! Breading is right on and they cut the fillets up smaller so they are nice and crunchy. Ribs are fire, be sure you get them dry, sauce onside... They are really, really, really good! Pulled pork... done very well... even the BBQ sauce is special. I dig the "hot" version! Free fucking Hushpuppies!!!! What else do you need in your life??? Nothing! The onion jam is Charity's jam!! She loves it! Oh yeah, almost forgot... Don't get caught leaving this place without a piece of cake either. Even if you don't want it now, get it to go and I will accept your donations later. The Hummingbird cake is phenomenal. This place is seriously legit! The owners name is Tyler Clancy, I finally met him last night. Please support him so he never leaves. That's right, I am selfishly asking you to drive your ass here and give him money so I can continue to eat here forever!

So nice to return to this local, re-opened-opened, restaurant. Covid set them back, but they have returned just as good ... if not better than ever ... So glad! You won't go wrong stopping in here -- whether buffet or off- the-menu. You can't go wrong!!!!

Clancy's Cafe is amazing!! They have a variety of food to choose from on their posted menu. This walk-in to be seated, hole-in-the-wall kind of place has great food and a relaxing environment. The small grandchildren were able to play in the country playroom, Clancy's Kids Corner after eating to keep them occupied while the adults finished their food. I would definitely recommend!

Clancy's Cafe is this out of the way family owned restaurant in Red Banks MS. Short drive from Memphis. Bout a 20 minute ride to the country. The friendliest ladies in town. Tender and juicy beef brisket.... Seasoned catfish and fries. Senior menu pricing as well. Super Delish -Chocolate Cobbler- and Banana Pudding. Service is fast and complete. Quick chef in back whipping up all the vittles of the day. Lunch and dinner menu. Big and spacious cafeteria seating, that would be good for a group. We will return we frequent this quiet area very often!

    BBQ Nachos... do it.

We arrived when they opened so we were seated immediately. Our party of 2 was seated at a table for 8 but ok. We had a nice view of the pond. Our side salad came to the table before our appetizer. We ordered fried pickle spears as an appetizer. They came out PIPING hot and were good. The salad was pale lettuce, a sprinkling of cheese and 1 cherry tomato cut in half. It was a pathetic salad but even worse was that it was served in a red plastic bowl. I know that I may be different but I don't like to eat out of plastic. I'm not sure why they couldn't put it on a plate or in a real bowl. My ribeye was good. It had a great flavor and was cooked perfectly mid-rare to order. My husband ordered the larger ribeye. He ordered his medium but it came out medium rare. He didn't want to send it back so he kept it. He doesn't care for the texture of mid-rare so it was a struggle for him to eat it. What made it worse was the gristle running through the whole steak. There's no reason for a quality ribeye to have gristle in it. Overall, the service was good. The restaurant decor was very outdated. The music was so loud that we couldn't hold a conversation across the table. We probably won't be repeat customers.

The wait was minimal and at no point during our time, there did service slowdown. Once we were seated our waitress, I want to say her name is Shelby was simply amazing so attentive, provided excellent selections. Everything she suggested we tried and it was phenomenal. The fish was fried in a way that I've never had before lightly battered well seasoned. The fish tastes so clean no after taste of swamp water. She informed us that we could try the blackened grilled and fried fish. My favorite was the grilled and second best would be fried, the blackened wasn't bad at all the other two just stood out way more. I know you'll probably say what all could you do to a baked potato to make it amazing I don't know what they do to their potatoes, but my simply loaded potato was off the chain. The pinto beans with fresh cut onions was also really good. I love that they are only open three days a week for five hours each day basically get it when you can and although this is roughly an hour plus drive I will be making a return visit at least once a Month. Great experience overall.

As soon as you're seated, you'll have a tempting signboard presented at your table with every southern classic you can imagine. With entrees like fried chicken and catfish, endless sides like turnip greens, white beans, and just about anything you can imagine fried, and every kind of southern pie, it's all there. The catfish is magnificent, with that wonderfully gritty cornmeal batter surrounding flaky, tender fish. The complimentary roll is also delicious! And the servers are very nice here! But there are some downsides. The fried okra, my favorite southern side dish, is actually soft and soggy. No self respecting southerner would ever make soggy fried okra. It's about the worst I ever had. And the onion rings, which are hard to mess up, were burnt black and lacked flavor. They were inedible. The cashier is rude and doesn't have time for "thank you" or small talk or a smile or even giving you your receipt when nobody else is in line to pay their bill. That's just how it is. If you want good catfish, Sling Shot Charlie's will come through. But if you want a southern culinary experience that's enjoyable, there are much better places to have it!

In a small town, I usually expect decent food at best--something reheated off a Sysco truck. Instead, this place completely surprised us. The food was outstanding. Everything tasted fresh, flavorful, and clearly made with care. We were told the food is prepared fresh daily and the menu can change, which explains a lot. Portions are huge--we actually ended up sharing plates just so we could try more items. Service was excellent: friendly, attentive, and helpful without hovering. The staff was happy to talk about what they've tried on the menu and what they recommend. There's limited outdoor seating, but if the weather cooperates I definitely recommend grabbing a table outside. From what we saw, the inside looked very clean and well kept. This has officially become our new weekend meetup spot. We're already going back this Saturday, and I plan to keep trying something new until I've worked my way through the whole menu. One last thing that meant a lot to me: they allowed me to bring in my sugar-free root beer. Since that's the only beverage I drink, that little bit of flexibility made the experience even better. Highly recommend.

Yet somehow, I'm also enjoying an elegant dinner that I didn't have to cook myself. The drinks are reasonably priced, and so is the food -- especially considering each dish is truly a work of art. You can absolutely tell this restaurant loves what they do, and they do it beautifully every single time I've been here. It may not be for everyone, particularly if you're used to heavily processed fast food at "fast food" prices -- which, honestly, aren't much cheaper these days. The difference here is that the meals are thoughtfully prepared, healthier, more filling, and far more delicious. If you appreciate quality, creativity, and care in your dining experience, this place delivers every time.

I happened across '1836 Desoto' and it was a wonderful experience. From the outside it basically is a block building, but inside it is a food haven that appeals to your taste buds. I ordered a cheeseburger with fries, and 'sweet tea' on the side. The previous night I had eaten somewhere in Collierville that didn't offer 'sweet tea' and they looked at me like they were unfamiliar with the term. Thankfully, just across the border in Mississippi, my love for the South was reaffirmed. The service was excellent and was just the friendly, polite, fast attention to my needs that I would expect from a local dive. After all, we treat people like family in the South; until they give us reason not to! The atmosphere was pleasant with a family feel, clean, well lit, and no music blaring. My waitress was attentive, positive, and quick to see to my needs while dining. My food arrived and it was delicious. The bun was perfect, the burger better than even I could have hoped, and the service remained excellent. They had quite an array of desserts, but after the sweet tea, I didn't imbibe.
