Order at the counter, get your drink and they take it from there. It's kind of an old place but the service and nostalgia are great. They serve every table a big basket of hush puppies. Fresh, hot and moist. Served with some kind of sweet onion relish. I ordered the catfish dinner. 4 small pieces so the cook is consistent. The tartar sauce is made in house. A little thinner than I like but really good. They told us all the sides are made in house except the fries and okra. The baked beans were excellent. I LOVE THIS PLACE SO MUCH! Anytime we can't decide on a place to eat I always suggest this one. The food is always good in my experience and reminds me of good home cooking. The service is always good and I always end up leaving with a slice of cake . The whole restaurant is cute overall and even has a small shop when you first walk in! I've been back here many times now and it's just getting better and better every single visit! The duck and sausage gumbo is freaking fantastic! It seems to be a little different each time but that's just fine because it is so damn good! I think it's due to age and temperature mostly. Gumbo changes a good bit over time. I have to start buying this by the gallon and freezing it! Brisket!! Holy crap I found a place with good brisket. Last time, I just ordered, and got a mix of fatty and lean, I wished I'd have asked for all fatty because it was perfect! I'm not sure how he does it so well with such little volumes of people dining here. Onion rings are the best I've ever had! Perfectly cooked and honestly the best breading I've seen in the onion ring game. Check out my picture of that salad. Ridiculous! Catfish is great! Breading is right on and they cut the fillets up smaller so they are nice and crunchy. Ribs are fire, be sure you get them dry, sauce onside... They are really, really, really good! Pulled pork... done very well... even the BBQ sauce is special. I dig the "hot" version! Free fucking Hushpuppies!!!! What else do you need in your life??? Nothing! The onion jam is Charity's jam!! She loves it! Oh yeah, almost forgot... Don't get caught leaving this place without a piece of cake either. Even if you don't want it now, get it to go and I will accept your donations later. Nice little drive from Memphis, but well worth it. Order and pay at the counter when you go in, get your drink of choice, pick a table and wait for your food to be delivered to your table. The server is very friendly with a down-home personality. Be sure to tip her! The food was very good. I had the pork plate with beans and onion rings. Very good bbq sauce, sweet and a little spicy. Beans and onion rings were your basic fare. The others with me dined on the Ponchatrain special. Catfish with a creole-type sauce poured over. Got good reviews from them. Dinner date on Saturday afternoon at about 6 pm. I'm still recovering from one of the worst meals I've ever tried to eat. Where do I start? First, you order and pay when you walk in the door. Bill was $35.86, two orders of catfish with sides and 2 drinks, tea and coke. I paid cash, this is where it started. Handed the girl two 20's, a dollar bill and a penny. This blew her mind! She handed me back the dollar bill and penny and said she didn't need that much. Gave me four ones and change back with the receipt that showed several percentage amounts you can tip. Tip? Why would you tip? Once our food was delivered that was the last time we had contact with anyone in the store, except for the manager (owner). Now to the food. The catfish was terrible! It was soggy and heavy with grease. Hushpuppies were overcooked, dry, and just plain. My onion rings were warm at best, and greasy. She liked her fried okra, my slaw was ok, a little juicy but the flavor was nice. The tea was good and my date's mist drink was terrible because the tank ran out of syrup about 1/2 way up the cup. By the way, they were out of lemon! Catfish, lemon,,,,tea, lemon...come on folks! Well, I had a short discussion with the owner about the greasy fish. Asked if it was cooked in advance and reheated, he said no. Then I asked if the grease was not hot enough, old or had not been filtered recently. Really never got a complete answer. He said this cook just "topped" it off. He did offer to replace the fish, which I politely declined, but that was it. He never offered us a refund, give us a gift certificate, buy us dessert, just walked off. Now being an ex restaurant owner I think I would have handled this mess a little differently. To be fair. Maybe we just caught Clancy's on a bad day? We've been once before, last year, and it was great! Like I said, me being an ex-owner myself I tried to watch all orders leaving the kitchen. Given the fact the owner was on site, I think maybe he was tired? Could be they were getting ready to close and the friers were cooling down? Anyway, I'd never let an order leave the kitchen I'd not eat. This was one of em. Will we go back? I don't know. read more

The small grandchildren were able to play in the country playroom, Clancy's Kids Corner after eating to keep them occupied while the adults finished their food. My husband and I had the Catfish Pontchartrain (the best sauce ever) with sides of turnip greens and a salad. The 2 blacken catfish were the very best I'd ever eaten. The salad was huge with cucumbers, tomatoes, shredded cheddar cheese and croutons with a balsamic vinegar dressing. These were fantastic meals!! Great service! Wonderful setting and it was very reasonable! If we ever travel through this area again we will certainly stop. I would give it a 10 out of 10 or a Five Star out of Five Star! read more

This was our first visit to Clancy's. I'd seen about it on the Marshall county Facebook page. It definitely didn't disappoint! Portions were very generous. Food was served quickly and was very fresh. These may be the best onion rings I've ever had. They were definitely the prettiest onion rings ever. The Mac and cheese was thick and cheesy. I'm he beef brisket had a very nice smoke ring and flavor. The serving size of the catfish was ample. I can't imagine how much fish must be on the large sized portion. Yuck! Where to start ‍ Mac and cheese cold and greasy I wanted to ask if they could heat it up but the paper boat it was in was screaming for dear life to stay together due the the soggy grease. Onion rings - warm not hot but again very greasy the paper under them was wet with grease spots. I'm quite certain they had been cooked earlier and then reheated. Fried catfish - Hot just like how I like it! It was good but lacked flavor. Very bland I fixed that with using the dipping sauce that came with the hush puppies. My son ordered the brisket and it had the leftover color you know that gray kinda green tint. Steam was coming up off of it so I'm certain it was just nuked in the microwave. I sampled it to make sure it was appropriate. No flavor just a strong taste of liquid smoke. The best thing was the hush puppies they bring out before your food. Not sure what exactly the sweet vinegar onion dipping sauce was but we loved it. My opinion that was the only thing worth buying and those came free. I was so disappointed we passed up several other restaurants on our way back home because I wanted to stop here. Maybe it was an off day but I'm completely grossed out and sad. The bathrooms could use some sprucing up or at least lights in the stalls, it's very dark when you close the stall door.
