Stopped in this past Sunday with my wife. Wow ! What a different look for one of the last dive bars left. I hadn't been there in a while and was presently surprised by the new look. Place looks great and the wings were A+. The young lady behind the bar was a joy to chat with. She also was A+. Definitely will be back !!! read more

I came with a group of friends, and one group member was wrongfully profiled and kicked out of the establishment. After contacting the owner to clarify what happened, he proceeded to fabricate a lie that the entire group was doing drugs and that the girl kicked out was on video doing drugs in the bathroom. This does not make sense, however, considering the night this occurred, the bouncer specified that everyone in the group was fine and good to stay except the girl who was using the bathroom. We calmly spoke and attempted to reason with him, but he maintained that only she needed to leave. When we decided to all leave with our friend, the bouncer even tried to apologize to me and said he wanted to make it clear that the rest of us were welcome back. When I called the owner the next day, he claimed that our entire group was "problematic" from the jump, doing drugs, and that the girl was doing drugs in the bathroom. All of this could not be further from the truth. His story is not only a lie meant to cover himself for the profiling and singling out of a single person for no apparent wrongdoing, but also would suggest that the bar is run by creeps who film customers in the bathroom. I am going to start off by saying that I hate leaving negative reviews. In fact, today alone I am leaving 10 positive reviews for local businesses to offset this one. But after what I witnessed at Clancy's Tavern on Friday, I just cannot keep quiet. I was at Clancy's around 8pm with my husband, sister, and friend (who is a former Clancy's bartender). We went to Clancy's only because we knew another bartender working that night (which I suspect is the reason a great many people go to Clancy's). We sat at a table and ordered drinks, and then struck up a conversation with a gentleman who came in right behind us, who was sitting at a nearby table with some friends. He ended up sitting with us after he had been rudely reminded by another bartender, the owner's son, to put on a mask. We were preparing to leave when, out of nowhere, the owner's other son, Griffin, came storming through the bar, shouting (with no mask on), ordering these gentlemen out, alleging that they were dealing drugs. In the interest of full disclosure, one of them was seen on camera rolling a joint. Did the owner have the right to ask this group of gentlemen to leave the bar after one of them broke the law? Absolutely. I don't have a problem with that. What I do have a problem with was how he did it--shouting, using expletives, overall angering and humiliating them. It's no wonder one of them hit him. But the drama wasn't over. He then came up to our table, mouth bloody (still no mask) and started shouting at us to leave. I guess we were guilty by association because we were talking to one of these men? I don't know, but what I do know is that never, in my entire life, have I been treated with such disrespect by a business owner at whose establishment I am a patron. But it was the way he spoke to my friend-his former employee-that has prompted me to write this review. No human being should EVER speak to another human being the way he spoke to her. The things he said were disgusting, and I will not repeat them here, because unlike Griffin, I am not interested in humiliating people. No one deserves that, let alone from someone they know, let alone a female from a large male. He wasn't done though--he then proceeded back in the bar to intimidate his female employee by shouting at her (still no mask) in front of the entire bar. His actions cost his father's business another long-time employee with a loyal following. She bravely chose to stand up for herself and stick to her principles by resigning her position. She will be fine, as is the former employee we were there with that night, because both are good at what they do and enjoy it. They are old-school, classic bartenders, who listen to their patrons, are loyal to those they are loyal to, and who people go and see intentionally. My husband and I have spent hundreds of dollars (and will spend hundreds more) patronizing the businesses at which they work for no other reason than that they are there. They are the type of people that sustain a business like Clancy's, and cannot be easily replaced. The whole incident was toxic white masculinity at its absolute worst. It is no coincidence, and should come as no surprise to anyone, that the gentlemen we met at the bar that night were black. I doubt this was the first time they had been treated with such utter contempt, and sadly it probably won't be the last. I was born and raised in Saratoga. One of the things that makes this town so amazing is the way that the whole city supports local businesses. There is room for everyone. Saratoga needs a bar like Clancy's just as much as it needs places like Hamlet & Ghost and Gaffney's. Why? Because each type of business meets a different need. They have a different share of the market. This is something that Tom Clancy, the founder of Clancy's Tavern, knew so well, and it is the reason he has been successful. It would seem that this knowledge is not something he taught his sons. They do not appear to understand that they aren't hosting a party in their basement, but running a business...and running it straight into the ground. You simply cannot treat paying customers that way and expect to last in this town. Griffin had two other options that night: quietly ask the gentlemen who had the pot to leave, or call the cops. Instead he chose to cause a scene. I know I will never set foot in Clancy's again. The owners will probably read that and think, "Good! She's not welcome!" But unfortunately for them, it is exactly that attitude that ruins businesses in a competitive market like Saratoga, regardless of how long they've been around. read more

Got thrown out for playing metal on their jukebox by who I assume was the owner. I was on a date so it was a bit on the WTF side but the place was dumpy so arbitrary customs and rules weren't a complete surprise. Very low end for Saratoga at least the other dump bars have some sort of personality. read more

So now That I have a time to reflect. I got kicked out of Clancy's Tavern last night because I used the single woman bathroom that had a door and lock in the whole bathroom. I couldn't find the men's room and you know I have to pee 24/7 after my kidney surgery . I just felt humiliated and disgusted that they would grab me by my shirt and swing me out of the place like that . I just feel like it was a single bathroom. And I didn't know it was a woman's bathroom. I didn't see the label on it. Ugh I will never be back there again ! I think they need to be more with the times and stop putting their hands on an innocent guy just because they think they can . They are lucky I didn't press charges for assault! If this isn't your last stop before you end your summer night at 3:00 am, you're not living! This bar is a hoot! You have quite the mix of characters. The bartenders are your typical dive bar tenders, this bar reminds me to live a little! read more

Service is nonexistent at this Saratoga 'off the beaten path' bar. Would not recommend.

This is my favorite bar in Saratoga. Always a riot. Hot, fun bartenders. Come here if you are looking for cheap drinks and a great night!

Had the opportunity to stop in at Clancy's during a visit to Saratoga Springs this past weekend. My local friend advised me that it didn't have the best reputation, but we had a blast there all the same! Definitely not a fufu bar, but from what I could tell it's a pretty down to earth place; something I definitely prefer to the shallow and materialistic meat market type of locale. Bad reputation or not, it was a fun place, and I've definitely been to much seedier dives! read more

Sweet. Love the bars that allow people to swipe their card there 9x for over $60 a charge there. The bar swiped the card. You have to know its a blank. Be aware this place let's it's awesome customers use stolen credit cards!!!!!!! Wish I still lived in NJ. I for sure would stop in to see the live circus. read more

Unpretentious place with a laid back staff (Hi Meagan !!). Good jukebox. Strong drinks, big shots. No nonsense comfortable place to chill.
