Okay, when in NYC you 1000% need to visit Clara ! Omg, the special soup tonight was Baked Potato Soup, the best hands down the BEST potato soup I've ever had! The Roasted Tomato soup, crazy delicious, with a grilled cheese! The daily cake was Pumpkin Cream Cheese Cake was over the top ! A must must must try!

Let's just say our experience start to finish was incredible! The ambiance is very classy and welcoming , the servers are very knowledgeable with the menu and the food is delectable. We started off with drinks , I had a refreshing mocktail with cucumber and ginger beer, very good ! For the appetizer we did the ricotta and ramp toast with aged balsamic and fresno chillies. Let me just say we were speechless at how packed with flavor this was ! so delicious! For our main entrees we did the spring peas mint ravioli and the roasted chicken with mushrooms. Wow, wow, wow, these dishes had such rich flavors and everything blended together with every bite packing a mouth watering punch haha. We just loved our main dishes . To end our meal we went with the coconut dark chocolate sundae, and this was perfect. Not too sweet yet light and the toasted coconut was so good . We can't wait to come back again very soon, it's become or going to become our go to spot !

Wowza. A classically beautiful room on the park like Cafe Sabarsky maybe a tad smaller. Chef Diego Moya of tbe Oberon Group brings a majestic room & novel bold flavors to the UWS. Fine dining at museums is so fun. The Tiffany lamps add a stylish historical flair to the room. Are: Orwasher bread brown butter &9 Carrot tartare citrus & koshko $18 Vichyssoise $14 Steelhead trout with persillade sauce $39 Glass of Bordeaux mix $16 You had me at caraway butter. The carrot tartare is bright & citrusy & not to be missed. The vichyssoise is vegan & freaking delicious omg! Lovely lovely divine dining experience including delicious wine right on the park.

Clara, replacing Storico, in the New York Historical Society recently opened. I think there may be a few kinks to still work out but overall, my friend and I had a solid meal. The service was slower than molasses and the bartender had an emergency so no cocktails or mocktails could be made. We started with the charcuterie plate [$25] and the sourdough bread [$9] with caraway butter. I appreciated the cherries that accompanied the various meats but I don't know that I needed to spend $25 on something I could get at Trader Joe's. The sourdough bread was very nice. Crunchy on the outside, but not too much where I would break a tooth, and soft on the inside. I probably wouldn't have known there was caraway in the butter if you hadn't told me. I had the Clara Burger [$24], it definitely exceeded expectations. The brioche bun was nice and soft, the burger itself was a nice medium. I enjoyed the caramelized onions. The pickles were a little too half sour for my liking, I would have preferred fully pickled pickles. The fries on the side were great. However, I think they could've been in the fryer a minute or two more, they were just crispy enough. The coconut sorbet [$11] was a generously sized dessert. Again, I wouldn't have known it was a coconut sorbet unless you told me. I did immensely enjoy the toasted meringue and caramel, it definitely upscale s'mores vibes. The restaurant is quaint with Tiffany Lamps and books in glass shelving. The gold chandeliers lend an overall upscale ambience. The average age of the diner appears to be 65+ [LOL] but that's expected when you dine at the New York Historical Society on the Upper West Side. The meal came to $140 before tax. I don't know that I would go out of my way to dine at Clara, I'm glad I did, and if I were at the NY-HS, I probably would again.

Elegant, unexpected, simple but good restaurant. We stumbled in this place while we were visiting the museum, the food was exceptional. Will be revisiting this restaurant again.

Cake of the day almond raspberry

This was an amazing and delicious meal! The interior of the restaurant is lovely and the service is perfect. The food however blew us away. To start we shared the ricotta toast and the gem salad both of which were delicious. Then for mains we had the starker chicken which came with buttery and fragrant hen of the woods mushrooms and then a pan seared scallop dish which was divine! For dessert we shared the cake of the day, a creative and delightful almond cake with apricot jam and raspberry buttercream! An outstanding meal that has us excited to return!

Both failed epically. The bone marrow was inedible as it was like cold custard. Escargot had zero flavor and a real lack of garlic and good butter. Tasted more like vegetable oil than good butter. We shared the lobster pasta entree. Tasted more like Mexican goulash. No Italian flavors to be found in the sauce. Never once did the nameless waiter stop and inquire about our meal. Just all around a poor experience and a disappointing Friday night. There are far better places that appreciate your patronage. We will not be coming back. Not worth it.

The ambiance feels straight of the golden age, which is an aesthetic I'm certainly a sucker for. Even their robust cocktail menu fits the bill and is one of the prettiest menus I've ever had the joy of perusing. Staff was able to sit us a little bit ahead of our reservation which was also much appreciated. Wait staff was also very helpful and attentive, I don't think I've ever had my water glass so topped off! Starting off with cocktails, this place is a gin bar through and through and you'd be making a mistake if you didn't try one of their many options. I went with the 10,000 words, which you simply just give a spirit of your choice (I picked gin of course) and whether you antes) wanted your drink shaken or stirred and the bartender does the rest, so a bit of a surprise! I wound up with their version of The Last Word which was delightfully citrusy but I was hoping I'd wind up with something a little more adventurous app things considered. My girlfriend got the blackberry G&T, which was not only very pleasing to look at but delicious to boot. For food, we started with splitting some zucchini blossoms and beef cheek bao buns (both come in portions of 3). Both were tasty, but I love a good bao bun and these were so light and pillowy, I could have just went for an order of those for my main course. For the entree I went for the roasted half chicken, perhaps the most unassuming choice on the menu but this was maybe the best roast chicken I've ever had. Prepared perfectly, cooked to perfection, excellent portion size, and the kicker of it all was the stunning gravy that I was tempted to lick my plate for. Chicken is very easy to screw up, and they nailed it on all fronts here. My girlfriend went for the Valerie Signature burger with white cheddar and this thing did not mess around! A very rich patty, cooked to her temperature of choice served alongside some garlic truffle fries that made an American classic feel just a little more elevated. Our experience was delightful and I'd love to comeback here again, especially to check out more of the cocktail menu and soak in more of that golden age aura the place gives.

We reserved for a quick bite at Redeye Grill before catching Dog Day Afternoon on Broadway, but as soon as we walked up, some bouncer told us they were closed for a private wedding reception. We were dazed and confused because how was I able to reserve online? But the real plot twist was that it ended up being the best thing that happened. We actually stumbled into Tanner Smith's thinking it'd be the typical, boring bar-food spot. Nope. They first sat us at a hi-top by the door, but that wasn't our vibe, so we grabbed seats at the bar instead. Best decision. Our bartender, Josiah, was absolutely killing it. My cocktail had passion fruit, so of course I asked my usual question: "But is it real passion fruit?" He just nodded in agreement and that told me everything I needed to know. That drink was legit and had nice strength. The food was great too. My fish tacos were packed with fresh fish, the guacamole and salsa were chunky and full of flavor and hubs enjoyed his pastrami sandwich. I have no clue when we'll be back in Midtown, but one thing's for sure- we're sitting with Josiah again.

The menu on the table was a la carte. This did however work out better for me as I had limited time since I was catching a broadway show. Started with the olives then followed with the hot dogs and closed with the gem lettuce. They did come at different times. This gave me the perfect time to nibble slowly. We were already inside MOMA and entered via the inside entrance with a guard and a huge door. Since we arrived at 5pm when they opened we were led to a seated waiting area and provided cold water (a 100F day) and a smaller drink menu. Within a few minutes the main dining room was ready for us and we were led to a three quarter moon seat with a table facing the MOMA outdoor sculpture garden. This room was glorious with its high ceiling and cobalt blue paint and an impressive massive floral arrangements. There were plenty of museum visitors still outside wandering about in the sculpture garden. Each and every staff were wonderful in their friendly welcoming stance and conversations. Having perused their voluminous wine selection online ahead of time (an excellent thing to do ahead of time to avoid last minute decisions) we placed our wine order with the sommelier. Then there was the choice between the two menus, one obviously more expansive in offerings and the price. Since NYC was experiencing our extreme heatwave we opted for the smaller menu, which was totally sufficient and very filling. Most of the time, restaurant tasting menus have words and phrases that "sound" so inviting but wind up being a huge disappointment. However, words here really don't do justice as a description. The menu seemed simple and basic enough: "radish, shiso* crispy ham and cheese; hiramasa and garden peas; sea bass, crab and squash blossom; halibut, tomatoes, sweet corn broth or chicken and red wine braised celeriac; berries and cacao -- Impressions Menu -- 'a glimpse, capturing a moment' $175 (discovery 115 * reserve 295)". Prior to ordering we were informed that both of us had to order the same menu but that we had the option to sub and add on from the expansive menu--which we did with the eggs on eggs on eggs dish, as well as my choice of the lamb. Their signature dish--Eggs on eggs on eggs: a must have to add on this special course with caviar ($50/order). The dish is small, precious and very rich and was positively impressionable. That's the dish I go away with thinking about the restaurant. It came with a stick of toasted brioche to sop up the runny yolk and the caviar (which was neither fishy or salty). I would note the dish was served with caviar spoon. Staff knew enough that after we started eating this they brought an extra set of two more buttered toast sticks. Paired with our all Pinot champagne it was a magical combo. This is the kind of patron mind reading that differentiated a Michelin star restaurant. As the executive chef described the dish: "At the bottom of the bowl is a fried egg sauce, and is broken with a dill oil; second egg is a poached egg yolk (poached in a saline solution just so they are warmed through...we want the yolk to spill through the sauce...). We finish this dish with pickled shallots and more fresh dill for acidity and freshness, and drop a huge spoonful of caviar on top." The amuse was a great way to start especially with the pairing of our champagne. In lieu of the halibut in the Impressions menu I added the lamb from the other menu. Although it was only one piece in the rack of lamb it was terrific with the crunchy maitake mushroom and tasty sauce. The sommelier was excellent and professional without being pretentious -- as well as every single staff that greeted us and served us along the way. THIS Is what one should expect from a two star Michelin restaurant. I tasted the halibut from my wife and it seemed to be slightly under seasoned, though it had a decent sear. Service was perfection. They did not disappoint and I will be back!
