After years of being a Little Monster, I finally made it to Joanne Trattoria--and it was such a special experience. From the moment I walked in, they were playing Gaga's music, which instantly set the vibe and got me excited. The restaurant wasn't too busy, which gave me time to really take everything in--the photos, memorabilia, artwork, and all the little details that reflect Gaga's family history. It felt personal and unique. For drinks, we ordered the Lavender Blonde and the Garden of Eden. The Garden of Eden was definitely on the stronger side, while the Lavender Blonde was lighter and refreshing--both were absolutely delicious. We started with the Joanne Meatballs, which came in a rich red sauce and were incredibly flavorful. For our main, we had the Margherita pizza--super fluffy, fresh, and honestly one of the highlights of the meal. What really impressed me was how fast everything came out. Drinks, appetizers, and our main course all arrived in less than 15 minutes, which was amazing. Our server, Caleigh, was wonderful--friendly, attentive, and always smiling. They need to be out of the game. We had a 6 p.m. reservation at Joanne Trattoria near Lincoln Center and the night went downhill almost immediately. We started with drinks at the bar. While looking for the cherry in his Old Fashioned (which wasn't there), my brother-in-law found a baby cockroach floating in the drink. We quietly showed it to the bartender who had made it. The response was simply, "Oh no, I'll remake that." No apology. No concern. Just a replacement drink. Trying to move past that, we briefly tried the cabaret seating area ($5 cover per person). The speakers were positioned directly at head level and extremely loud, so we moved back to the bar before the show even started. From what we could hear, the "cabaret" ended up being about three karaoke songs. Next, we ordered truffle fries ($30) and calamari ($20). They took 45 minutes to arrive. The fries were average. The calamari was mostly batter with maybe four thin pieces of squid. All four of us ordered chicken entrées. None of them came with pasta, which we were told had to be ordered separately as a side. The one side of pasta we ordered didn't arrive until after we had finished eating, despite asking about it twice. When the bill came, the Old Fashioned with the cockroach was still on it. Total for four people: $325 before tip. We still left $50 because that's what you do when people are serving you. For that price, the food tasted like basic, bulk-supplier Italian restaurant fare you could find at almost any neighborhood pizza place. My husband used to work in restaurants, and he rarely complains, but this was too much to ignore. When he asked to speak with a manager, the only response he received was a repeated "I understand." There was no apology and no attempt to address the situation. We didn't realize until we were leaving that the restaurant has a connection to Lady Gaga. Judging by the prices and memorabilia everywhere, it seems like the place is relying heavily on that association. We made our reservation on Open Table. Got the time slot we wanted, but had to pay $5 each for the cabaret show. We requested seating at the bar (because we love bar seating) and they gave us the perfect high top table in the bar area. We enjoyed two glasses of Chardonnay at Happy Hour pricing. When we arrived, the bar was indeed crowded for Happy Hour. My husband thoroughly enjoyed his grilled chicken penne alla vodka. I had really tender chicken marsala. The cabaret singer sang in the back of the restaurant to our delight, since we are not a fan of this type of dinner entertainment, and were glad she didn't perform very long. Bartender Shiloh, our server, was fantastic and super attentive. We had a wonderful time at the restaurant and purchased some Lady Gaga items for my stepdaughter. The best things at Joanne's really is the Chicken Milanese, Thinly pounded chicken breast, panko and parmesan cheese. Another favorite of the pastas, this is spicy and garlicky and will lay down a nice base for the gallon or so of wine you drink. The sides are a meal unto itself, the spaghetti In small portion is tangy, salty , spicy and a tad bit sweet. The mash potatoes are a must add on to any meal. This might be the best Parmesan in town. We checked out Joanne this Sunday afternoon. We didn't know before arriving but there was a drag brunch in progress. We were welcomed in even though we didn't have a reservation, and we had a great time! The food was great - nothing pretentious and great homemade feeling recipes. We had the ricotta focaccia with honey and pears (already craving this!); spaghetti and meatballs; the vodka sauce gnocchi; and the tiramisu (wow!). Everything tasted fantastic! It's a cute place! Small and cozy. Lots of fan decor and a bright neon Joanne sign. They have a outdoor area but was closed off. Apparently they have different events during the week, definitely recommend checking it out. I had the eggplant parm sandwich with fries and I wish I'd ordered a second one to go. They used the foccacia bread and the fries were crispy. It was just perfect for me and hit the spot My family and I shared the fried Calamari, flavor was there, just needed it to be more crispy and less oily. The first time I had the chicken parm delivered was the best. The cutlets were obviously pounded so they were totally tender and it was served with spaghetti. It was delicious so I tried it again. The second time I received a huge cutlet also pounded and very good but no spaghetti. Last night I think they forgot to pound the huge cutlet and they forgot the sauce on the cutlet. It was a big chunk of dry chicken with cheese. The spaghetti was good. After reading the reviews for those who dine at the restaurant I see these inconsistencies exist there too. We were in town over the Memorial Day weekend and made reservations for the Sunday Drag Bingo spaghetti dinner through the OpenTable app. I had numerous forms of communication via the app/emails that confirmed our reservations for Drag Bingo. We were lucky that there was a cancellation and we were able to get a table in the back. as a vegetarian, I was pleasantly of the food and I had eggplant Parmesan with linguine, broccoli and the garlic Parmesan bread, which was delicious. Had an awesome time stopping into Lady GAGA's restaurant on a Sunday! We came in at 1:45 with a reservation and it was empty so we had our pick of tables and ate on the patio with an overhang to keep everyone dry after the rain the night before. The menus were iPads which was fun but we had a little trouble looking at the menu options when they glitched. But service was prompt (including in bringing us fresh bread after we realized our bread for the table was stale) and considerate and all the food was absolutely delicious! I got the Lemon chicken and artichoke and it was mouth wateringly good! I didn't wanna stop eating also ordered a spring rosé mocktail and appreciated how many non-alcoholic drink options they had! Prices are a little steep compared to a typical Italian joint, but the quality of the food is excellent and the cost is par for the course in NYC. If you are thinking of going to Joanne Tratorria for dinner, don't! Seriously, save your time, your money, and your appetite. The food was nothing short of a culinary misfire. I ordered the pasta with clam sauce, and I can confidently say the pasta was less "al dente" and more "straight out of the box after a two-minute soak." The accompanying sauce was truly a mystery--we kept passing it around trying to identify the flavor profile. Was it a failed attempt at a traditional Italian sauce? A distant cousin of cheap lo mein? Or did we accidentally ingest a hint of propane? The world may never know, but my stomach definitely registered a complaint. My friend had chicken which was so rubbery we had trouble cutting through it with the knife. While the kitchen was failing, the front of the house wasn't far behind. There were enough waiters milling about to staff three different restaurants, yet the service was agonizingly slow and profoundly unprofessional. They weren't rude, just seemed to be operating on a level best described as "enthusiastic amateurs." And then there's the ambiance. Look, I'm a huge Lady Gaga fan--I can belt out "Bad Romance" with the best of them--but I don't want to eat my disappointing dinner in what feels like a Planet Hollywood gift shop crossed with a livingroom shrine. Every wall is plastered with her photos, and the music was absolutely blasting her hits. I love a good singalong, but not while chewing pasta that tastes faintly of flammable gas. Couldn't they at least throw on the Tony Bennett album for some mellow dinner vibes? Nope, it was high-decibel pop MAYHEM. If you're only going because you're a devoted Little Monster, here's your strategy: Go to the bar, order a drink, snap a few selfies with your gals, and then have dinner elsewhere. The Joanne's Meatballs - Germanotta Family Recipe, to start, were very good, but I wondered if they might have been slightly undercooked. The Fried Calamari, Deep-fried crunchy exterior and tender on the inside. Panko, Salt, Pepper, Slices of Hot Red Pappers - though good I thought it would have more kick to it. I did enjoy the Joanne's Grilled Salmon - Grilled to your temperature and served w/ Lemon and vegetables market, but I would rather have it on the chef's recommendation rather than the push to grill it to your temperature. Service was mixed. For a simple order of Captain Lawrence Orbital Tilt IPA I instead got the Clearwater Kölsch. The can was already opened, so I didn't turn it back as that was a good second choice. The thing is, the "I need to check on that," comment from the server was odd for me as when I went out from the dining area you pass the fridge with all the beverages in it. In other words, it really wasn't complicated and there was no one else involved. The table busser looked like they wanted to be anywhere but here. Which was kind of interesting. Beyond that, you do feel the vibe that you would think should be here - Gaga. That could be good or bad depending on your expectations. My friend begged me to go to this one with her by saying, "Lady Gaga's restaurant is my new favorite restaurant and I want to go there." How could I say no? I can see why it's her favorite now. The layout is small, but the ambience is charming with its live music and colorful décor. My friend and I were both stunned by how flavorful our meals were, including the bread appetizer with olive oil. My gnocchi pasta with marinara sauce was amazing and perfectly filling. I don't think I've ever tasted such savory marinara sauce! And dessert? Equally incredible. My chocolate mousse cake even caught the eye of my 9-year-old friend at a neighboring table. He and his dad couldn't help but ask if it was as tasty as it looked and worth ordering. Of course I said yes! Our niece recommended Joann Trattoria after a recent visit. We gave it a try on Drag Trivia Night to boot (Chase Runaway did a great job!). Sherry and I shared a fried prosciutto and mozzarella ball. They were really delicious served with their marinara. Sherry had homemade gnocchi with the same marinara and melted cheese. I had baked eggplant parm and pasta. Both dishes were quite tasty. The eggplant was thick and fried perfectly; and covered in sauce and mozzarella. Sherry's gnocchi was baked with sauce and cheese as well. The dishes were hot and generously sized. I had a Aprerol Spritz to start which was tasty. Only thing is, even for New York City, was a bit overpriced, to us. Yet give it a shot for yourself. read more

Came here with two fellow mother monsters around 5:30 on a Thursday for the $20 prix fixe deal, and we were seated in the garden, which had a lovely atmosphere and adorable decorations. We loved the Gaga paraphernalia featured throughout the restaurant. First of all, the deal is crazy good for NYC! It included a beverage, salad, entree, and you can add an appetizer and cannoli for an extra $10, which we all opted to do. I started with a glass of house white, which was light and tasty. We also had a bread basket, which was nothing special. I enjoyed my Caesar salad, and my friends and I split the meatballs and arancini appetizers. I definitely enjoyed the arancini more! They were crispy on the outside and gooey/cheesy on the inside, yum. I got the eggplant Parmesan for my main, and while the eggplant was very good and well fried, the accompanying spaghetti was very very average. While I think there's definitely an upper limit to how good spaghetti and marinara can get, this spaghetti was decidedly mid. It had a stranger aftertaste as well. Dessert picked up again with a delicious cannoli! Tbh, I wasn't expecting that much from Joanne food wise, given the other reviews and the price, but I left full and happy and glad I went. There is a lot of amazing Italian food in NYC. Joanne may not necessarily be amazing, but it's a steal for the price and has Lady Gaga's claim to fame. We had a lovely chat with our waitress as well about Lady Gaga visiting the restaurant and occasionally cooking for guests. Tempura brussel sprout batter and dip was tasty. The sprouts inside were over boiled mush. Eggplant meatballs tasted like mucus somehow. There were also many undercooked and chewy pieces of eggplant within. The meatballs came without sauce! Spaghetti with red sauce was sour and under seasoned. Not enough sauce to put on the meatballs. Gnocchi with vodka sauce special was made almost entirely of cheese. The salt and heft were almost too overpowering. Olive oil had no taste. Bread was cheap quality and cold. Bill was wrong twice. First night in NYC and we chose to have dinner at Joanne's. It is a wonderful "neighborhood" type of restaurant. Quite cozy (i.e., you'll get to know your table mates) and casual atmosphere. The service as good, but the truly standout was the food. We started with Joanne's meatballs which were very tasty and large enough for two people to share. I ordered "Mom's Chicken" for my entree. It was very good and, while it was just the chicken, it caused me to eat the entire (and it was large) serving, without being overstuffed. Definitely recommend giving this place a try! read more

This was totally our bad, but we had NO idea that broccoli rabe is naturally bitter. I expressed to our waitress that we didn't think that it tasted good and she graciously removed it from our bill, which I felt was very kind of them. The carbonara that I got was fine, al dente but small portion, but I think that's the authentic Italian style haha which is they Italians are generally skinnier than Americans Truthfully I wasn't blown away by the food here, however I only tried one dish so I would be inclined to come back to try other foods on the menu, especially since I know that the service will be great! read more
