We made open table reservations the day before and had an inside table; it's a clean and bright interior with typical French decor. Our servers were friendly and attentive. Place was packed but the food came out quickly. Here's what we had: 1. Eggplant zucchini sandwich with fries 2. Ham and gruyere with sunny-side up egg and fries 3. This place is not far from where we live, so we decided to stop by for Sunday brunch since we're always looking for new brunch spots. The atmosphere was nice and the service was friendly enough. My friend ordered the Grilled Chicken Sandwich. It was okay, but nothing particularly special. I went with the Classic Eggs Benedict with smoked salmon and a petite salad. Since it's one of my favorite brunch dishes, I had higher expectations, but the flavors were a bit flat for my taste. We also had a couple glasses of French wine with our meal. Overall, the portions felt a bit small for the price, at least for my taste. It was a nice experience, but it didn't stand out compared to some of other favorite brunch spots. Based on only this brunch visit, I'd rate it somewhere between 3 and 4 stars. I was blown away by my experience at Nice Matin for French Restaurant Week! Every food we had, from appetizer to dessert, was absolutely delicious. The escargot was incredible. My friend and I were both figured we wouldn't like it, but the sun-dried tomato and lemon were truly amazing touches. Their complimentary bread was warm and fluffy, and served with soft butter and olive oil. I was blown away by the chicken entree. The chicken itself and the gravy were so flavorful. The potatoes that came with it were crispy and delicious. Finally, I loved the peach Melba for dessert. It had four or five peach slices and very yummy ice cream. This was a great prixfixe menu and I can't wait to come back and try more of their menu. They had some particularly delicious-sounding cocktails that I need to try next time! read more

My MIL, NYC lifer, says it's the best brunch in Manhattan. I went for lunch, and I agree that it's top notch! Indoor and outdoor seating (most of it under umbrellas) and a delightful, patient, friendly staff. I had the salad Nicoise with large pieces of tuna. The berries were standard fare, and surely from a grocery store rather than a local farmer. Spacious seating so you have privacy with your conversations. read more

From the moment we walked in, until we left, we felt welcomed by the staff. We sat in a booth and the atmosphere was warm and reminded us of bistros we've visited in Paris. Nice Matin is fine, nothing special. I couldn't believe how busy it was at 9am on a random Thursday so definitely make a reservation. When I arrived they told me they have a limited menu due to gas inspection and that you can't order an omelet or anything made stovetop...okay, so why open for breakfast that day. The menu had things like granola, fruit, waffles, and a benedict but that was it. No pancakes, no fried eggs, no bacon... I ended up not eating since I came for the shakshuka but couldn't have it. That said, the coffee was very good. I had two lattes with oat milk. Service was friendly but painfully slow. It took almost an hour for them to take our order. My family was in town from LA and we went to Nice Matin before our trip to the Natural History Museum. I ordered a virgin bloody mary and a cheeseburger. The burger was cooked just the way that I liked it. It was bloody and juicy, and delicious. The french fries were also crispy and also chewy in the center so it reached perfection.The service was quick, and the food and the bloody mary had the right amount of flavor. Our waitresses were also really kind and accommodating. The salad that came on the side of my moms dish was really good and didn't include too much or too little dressing. Overall I could see how this is the perfect spot for brunch and for people who are looking to dine near the museum if they're going to be there for the whole day. read more

We stayed at the hotel next to the restaurant. I'm not sure whether the restaurant is affiliated with the hotel, but regardless, the hotel was good while the restaurant was not. The only French thing about the restaurant is its name--and not even the full name. :)) We went there once for breakfast purely out of convenience, and the food was below mediocre. They also gave me a really nice side salad instead of fries per my request. Ambiance was good - I liked the chandelier, but it was packed and a bit loud. Years ago, Nice Matin belonged to a group of restaurants specializing in regional French cuisine, each one a different region of France. The ones I went to were good, the food was interesting. I regret not having tried more of them. But Covid changed a lot and I have not been to Nice Matin in a long time. Two weeks ago a friend suggested it, so we went for lunch. I have already been back again and I will go there often....because... We two were given a large comfortable table and sat over an extended lunch and discussion for quite a long time. The restaurant became quite busy after a while, but no one made us feel we needed to leave. The service was friendly and attentive. The food was excellent, not too salty as is my fear when I eat out, the prices for our omelettes were very reasonable. Even after we paid the bill, we were offered more coffee. I felt so well treated that I spoke to the manager. i always want a good place for lunch, and this is certainly that place....as I said, I have been back already and the experience was just as good. A PS, the noise level is fine, I suppose partly because Nice Matin thinks people should be able to talk, and not have to shout over music that no one is listening to. read more

I came here with my parents for lunch on a Saturday afternoon. We made reservations for 1:30pm, but there were plenty of tables open. I came here for brunch and found the food to be very average. The spicy murguez scramble was not at all spicy and drowning in sour cream for no apparent reason. You can do better for a lower price nearby, but as it's winter and they have a strong heated outdoor dining game, this was the choice that worked for us. The service leaves a lot to be desired. The people who work here have no sense as to basic accessibility to a point that is almost comedic. When I first came in through the accessible entrance and confirmed that my reservation was for outdoors, the hostess led me through the whole restaurant to a side door that had a step to go out to the street. Why was this necessary when the accessible door was literally right behind me? ‍ Then midway through the meal I asked same hostess stand to point me in the direction of the bathroom only to find there are two steps to get up there. I asked a man who looked to be a manager if there was an accessible bathroom elsewhere and he told me there was not. Imagine my shock when I got a reply from the owner to my Google Review that there actually is an accessible bathroom available through the neighboring hotel but that staff didn't tell me that. Also did not appreciate that our sniffling waitress was working maskless. read more

This is indeed a great place to have a nice matin (morning in French)! I ordered the Pommes Paillasson ($26), which was a unique dish where every part of it was delicious and served a different culinary purpose. The shredded potato "pancake" was perfectly crispy and not too heavy, the smoked salmon on top was delicious as per usual, the onion gave a nice sharp flavor that wasn't overpowering, the sour cream added some creaminess to complement the crispiness of the pancake, and the fried capers added some nice crunch. I also tried the Croque Madame ($24), which is a French brunch classic. This one was loaded with ham and gruyere cheese on fluffy brioche bread and topped with a fried egg to make for a filling and scrumptious meal. It also came with a side salad, which was fresh and good as well. To drink, I got a Peach Bellini ($13). While it was a bit of a small size, it was refreshing and tasty. It was quite busy when I came for weekend brunch, but we were still able to get two seats at the bar without a reservation or any wait. The interior is beautifully decorated with a combination of modern trendy design and more traditional decor / French artwork. The space is fairly large and open. The staff are friendly and attentive. The service speed is pretty quick. Overall, I would highly recommend Nice Matin if you are interested in a delicious French brunch on the Upper West Side. read more

And the orange juice is the best anywhere. Today I had occasion to have another fine meal at Nice Matin -- this time lunch. I started with the tuna tartare. The tuna was very fresh and appropriately chopped. The sauces with which it was infused and paired were well-balanced & zesty. Two constructive criticisms: the ponzu marinate/infusion could be bolder. Second, it could use some crunch to it. For my main course, I had the burger with fries. I passed on the truffle aioli & had the fries with neither salt and nor seasoning. An order of "no seasoning" seems to flummox even very good restaurants; nevertheless, in this case, the excellent and ebullient server, Gable, got the order correct and it arrived as ordered.
