While in Lubbock on our whirlwind trip, we needed a place to go for all of the out-of-towners to meet up for dinner as our party of 9 was a bit too big to figure out on a budget. Thankfully our local friend provided us with the details for Chuys. The decor on the inside really leans into the 1950s/1960s Americana vibe that's often associated with Lubbock without leaning into kitsch territory. The table we were at took about 5-10 minutes to clear up for us and once we were seated we felt right at home. Food came out hot and exactly as expected. The server also recommended that I HAD to try the local concoction adult beverage that apparently is a staple of this location. It was a nice treat and a quick way to feel at home. Our bill was also not exorbitantly high, which is also something else to note about this place. You'll get your dollar to go far while here. Service was great! Reagan was attentive and helpful with attention to detail on how we wanted our food. The queso was a 7 of 10 and the jalapeno ranch salsa was 6 of 10 but it may be my flavor profile favors a NM style or a Mexican take on flavors. This place is fun and the decor is reflective of that. The bathrooms were accessible and a changing table is available. The decor was next favorite to the service which was outstanding! They can accommodate groups in side rooms which gives your group privacy and space for enjoying your meal. The kitchen and floors looked well kept and clean. The tortillas were better than store bought but not momma made level. I would give them that they were better than most Tex mex fast food. Went to Chuy's today (04-19-2036 around 5:30pm. As we were being seated the floor was filthy and trashy with chip crumbs on some seats. The Hostess laughs and says excuse the mess. When we addressed it to the waitress, she said it was dirty because of shift change . So where is the manager supervising the customer dining area? I recently saw that this location received 20 violations for food safety. A few weeks ago, I ordered carry out from them online. Chicken and steak fajitas - I always specify no beans and double rice. In the probably 15 times I've ordered from Chuy's Lubbock, they get it right half the time. A young lady brought the order to my car saying "Here you go mama", (ugh). I tipped her and she left. I checked the order and they had included beans. Yuck. So I take the order inside and the same young lady asks, "Hey mama, you need something else?" ....sigh..... So this is a problem. I get that people throw "mama" around as an endearment, but it does not sit well with me. Please, reserve it for people you know. I said "I need for my order to be right" and explained the problem. She got huffy and took the order back and returned with the right food. I get home and cut into the chicken, which is pink. I call the store, explain the issue and I'm asked if I want a replacement meal. I say I do not, but would like a refund (it could've been a partial refund for all I cared). The lady said "okay" and hung up on me. No "we're sorry", nothing. I've eaten at a lot of Chuy's throughout Texas, so it's sad that this one isn't up to par. We ordered a dine out order last Sunday at Chuys. My husband went to pick it up and called the number in the drive up spots. He waited for over 30 minutes when the hostess finally answered she said it would be "right out". He waited another 20 minutes and ended up having to leave due to my baby and kids being in the car, so he wasn't able to go in. I then made my way up to the restaurant and went inside. There was about 10 other people waiting for their pick up orders as well and had the same issue that the staff was not picking up the phone. I explained to the hostess that I had a pick up order and she wrote my name on a list. I then continued to wait for another 30 minutes and one by one people were getting their to go orders. Once I was the last person waiting, I asked again on the status of my order. A waitress came out and told me that they were out of chips and they weren't sure when they were going to be able to make some because the cook "wasn't there" . I then said that's fine, we just wanted our lunch. After waiting for almost 45 minutes in the restaurant, the waitress came out and said that they didn't have record of my order anywhere and they aren't sure how long it would take to make our new order. I just had to end up leaving without our food. They DID give us a full refund. We are long time customers of chuys and usually have great service along with great food. I've been to many Mexican restaurants and this place is one of my top Mexican restaurants. First when you get seated you'll see decorations everywhere even at the corner of your eye. The service there is pretty good everyone who takes your order is chill. Now when you get the chips and salsa, you get one chip and but dip it in the salsa the chips get so addictive. Um, I was looking forward to another review for a Mexican establishment. But uh... we ended up being sat down and never got our order taken. We were guided to a table and sat there for 25 minutes waiting, no waiter came by, no chips were provided, no nothing. We eyed as many staff members as we could, but no one ever serviced our table. Please understand this is probably not a normal occurrence here, we saw 4 tables which came in after us be serviced, but if I am honestly reviewing my experience here, it'd be about as low as you can score. First timer. I had been wanting to try since it always looks packed so after running my errands I decided to order online and pick up on my way home. I ordered the cheese enchiladas which came with rice, beans, chips, salsa, and a jalapeno dip. I thought boy oh boy can't wait to get home and eat! Boy oh boy was right. I was deeply disappointed. The enchiladas had absolutely no flavor whatsoever, the rice was just as flavorless and the beans didn't taste like beans. The tortilla chips were good but the "salsa" tasted more like marina sauce and the "jalapeno" dip was just good old ranch dip, no jalapenos detected. Not at all impressed. For starters this is my first review I have ever left in the 2.5 decades I've been around, so that's how you know I had a bad experience. Food was mid at best. For some reason they put the queso on the bottom of the chimichangas so it's all dry even after scooping the minuscule amount of queso on top. Oh and I totally forgot to mention the incompetent staff who stole my girlfriend's purse. While she may have forgotten at the restaurant; the staff screwed us around by claiming there was no purse or wallet. They don't even have inside cameras (how safe of them) The following day she receives a call saying they found a wallet on the floor but no purse (how odd indeed you may be thinking). She then goes to Chuys , only to find out that they gave it away to someone with the exact same name but didn't even bother to check the ID picture, so how would they know it's the same name (incompetence, lazy, or thieves I guess that is for the reader to decide). The following day she receives a call saying that they do in fact have her wallet, but still no purse. Now you may be wondering how that's possible. Why would a thief steal a purse but no wallet? I guess the thief has a modicum of decency to leave the wallet but still the disgusting morals to take something that isn't theirs. Now dear reader while there is humor in this review, make no mistake, everything is true. This location has incompetent staff, thieves and liars in their midst. Do not waste your time, money, and digestive juices on this mediocre excuse for a restaurant. Be a true American and keep your money in the community by eating at a local restaurant. My family and I come here often and enjoy the food and drinks. This time was a disappointment. While our server Carley was nice, her service left much to be desired. My mom and I shared a burrito with overcooked/mushy chicken, when we told Carley she offered to remake it but we had lost our appetite. We both took 2-3 bites from our halves. Our plates were left untouched pushed to the side for a long while before Carley prebussed the table. It's hard for me to actually give this place a review for certain reasons, so I gave it a five star rating. I come here often, the atmosphere its always joyful and fun, almost like a big party. The service is always great, but the food is unpredictable. There are certain times I come in and the food is awesome the next time its just so so, it never is really bad though. So I'd have to say, the high me will give this place a 5 star rating, throw in the hot sauce and I'll give it a 5.5 star rating, the drunk me will only give this place a 4 star rating. I tried their cheese enchiladas with their signature boom boom sauce. Their boom boom sauce is basically queso, but spicy. Emphasis on spicy. Pretty delicious though in my opinion. Food was quite salty last time we were here. Service can be a bit inconsistent, but this is one of those places I crave going to now. Decent prices! The atmosphere and food were up to standards. I'm very picky with my refried beans. Chuy's beans were some of the best I've ever had. The main course (green chili chicken enchiladas) were something special. Very unique in appearance and taste. The only complaint I have is the salsa served with the chips and the rice included with the entree. The salsa isn't blended, which threw me off. As for the rice, it was subpar at best. At the end of the day, Chuy's lived up to the impossible standards I initially perceived. A great place for anybody to find a delicious meal. read more

( at this point there were 3 staff watching him and laughing., it was absolutely disgusting. We asked for a manager and he was just as bad. All his did was say he had someone coming to clean them and was there anything else we needed. He was very dismissive and rude. Also one of my husbands Tacos had only half meat on it and he pointed it out and they offered to bring another but we were already done and getting ready to leave. NO offer of any compensation! I always heard about this place and saw a lot of cars there and knew I wanted to try it finally. It was around 6 on Sunday so really busy. The queso and guacamole was very good. There was a mix up in the food by the waitress and had to wait another 30 minutes just to get the food. There were two of us and she got the sauce wrong on the enchiladas . The tortillas and the enchiladas were good and tasty. The chips, I'd say, is the best food at this restaurant, because they're hot. The food was not warm enough.
