I have been a long standing customer of this restaurant. More recently I have stopped going as often because of them raising prices. Recently (March 2), I went with my family; myself and my partner arrived later. At the end of a so-so breakfast we went to pay. My partner realized the check was wrong and instead of us receiving an apology and adjusting the price, the cashier decided to tell us the difference that was owed to us by our other family. If you order the Big Walla Walla breakfast, be prepared to not be hungry the rest of the day! If you want lunch foods, go for one of the European sandwiches. This place is a solid diner, with pretty solid diner food. I'd give it a 3.5 if I could, only because the service is soooo slooow, and there are occasional grumpy waitresses. And you know how sometimes those restaurants still get customers who say nice things about them, but those customers are really, really old and set in their ways, and just go to the same places because that's what they've always done? That's Clarette's. Let's be real here. The food is bad. It's just no good. The service is meh. People are nice, but it's slow The decor looks like something off a truck stop. And with all that, it's almost as pricey as the cute boutique breakfast restaurants that serve WAY better food. Go to Bacon & Eggs instead. It's like two blocks away. We love Clarette's. As long time Walla Walla residents, we've probably tried every restaurant in town. My parents started bringing me here years ago. Way back when....being vegetarian wasn't so popular, breakfast was often the only 'eat out' meal a vegetarian could do. How wonderful that times have changed. Over the years, the menu has changed, but the HASH BROWNS have always stayed the same. Wonderful, golden brown crispyness on the outside, tender in the center. So yummy. I can honestly say I've never had a bad meal here. I'm not a vegetarian, but I love the fact they have really GOOD vegetarian offerings, and not just for breakfast either. Back to those HASH BROWNS. My burger and fry sons have a burger and HASH BROWNS. The servings are large. I'm partial to the skillet breakfasts. FAR too much for me, and I leave alot on the plate, but never the HASH BROWNS. I know some people have complained about the waitress from hell, but thankfully, we never got her. Service is always prompt and friendly. Being locals, we know better than to try to go there during the Balloon Stampeed, the Fair, The Sweet Onion festival or other big doings in town. We stay FAR away when the Car Shows are in town, because the lines actually go way down the street. Actually, even with long lines, the wait really isn't that bad. My wife and I found Clarette's while in Walla Walla on Memorial Day weekend tasting wines. We actually stumbled upon it while running on Sunday morning and noticed the crowd for breakfast so we decided to give them a try. We went for dinner that evening and I ordered a cheese burger with joe joes and my wife had fish and chips with sweet potato fries...our dinner meals both came with a house salad. Our salads arrived quickly and were fresh but had no tomatoes on them? As for our dinners, both arrived quickly and were really good. We also shared a slice of their Pumpkin Pie and it was ok but I would not order it again as the crust was damp and the pumpkin filling seemed almost runny with moisture. Breakfast seems to be Clarette's specialty as they serve it all day long and have an extensive breakfast menu so we decided we would come back the next morning for breakfast. So the next morning we arrive at the restaurant and are promptly seated and brought some much needed coffee....the coffee was good and hot...not Starbucks but good. My wife ordered sweet potato pancakes and I had the biscuit and gravy plate with 2 eggs over easy and a patty of breakfast sausage....we split some hash browns. We had hardly drank half our coffee when our food arrives...this is looking good. The hash browns were perfect...brown and crunchy on the outside, moist and tender in the middle. My wife's sweet potato pan cakes were nice and hot and tasted very good. My gravy and biscuits with 2 eggs over easy and a sausage patty looked really good...then I took my first bite...the gravy was stone cold! I'm not talking luke warm or even heat lamp warm...I'm talking absolutely stone cold? How does a restaurant serve cold gravy? Did they forget to microwave it? Do they microwave the gravy? Needless to say I was really disappointed and attempted for about 4 minutes to get the waitresses' attention. Finally when she came over to our table what she said baffled me and my wife. Before I said a word about my cold gravy, she said "Oh, cold gravy"....like it was a common occurrence or something? She took my plate and it took almost 8 minutes for her to show back up with another breakfast for me...all the time she never came back to refill our coffee cups. I thought it had taken way to long for them to fix my breakfast and when my plate was finally brought back found that it had apparently been micro waved as the yoke in my eggs were almost like hard boiled eggs. Not one to complain...I ate some of my breakfast and we paid our tab and left....no apology or discount or credit of any kind was offered for the cold gravy. All in all, we will probably go back to Clarette's again if visiting Walla Walla...I just won't order the gravy again and will make a point to tell the waiter that our food needs to be served piping hot or not served at all. read more

I and my son went there on his Whitman orientation day for lunch. I ordered Jamaican chicken salad . The quantity is just right to fill my hungry stomach. The sauce is come kind of peanut sauce more like Thai one but no chili paste. My son was satisfied with his Tuna steak and this restaurant became his favorite restaurant. read more

Definitely the best place to get breakfast in town and the waitstaff is always prompt with getting refills and always makes sure things are okay with the customers and you get good portions of food at reasonable prices, it can get busy during the peak breakfast hours though but they serve breakfast all day long which is great. read more

Clarette's is a great family restaurant! I was born and raised in WW and my family went there almost every weekend for breakfast when I was growing up. I still stop in when I come back to town to visit and the food has remained consistently good (not fancy fare, but tasty and very filling). The french toast and the strawberry crepes are two of my favorite dishes. I also love that some of the waitresses have been here for decades, it definitely makes it feel like coming home. read more

I'm not even sure if I would give this a 1 star rating after our dining experience yesterday. We had 4 in our party & our service was horrible . At least 3 tables that we seen that came in after us were served their meals & one even their check before we even got our food . Our waitress blamed it on the kitchen being slow . One of the food items was spaghetti & meatballs . Not only was the appearance terrible but it was totally inedible. The meatballs were actually black laying on top of the Spaghetti & Meatballs with no sauce on them . The dish was totaled splattered with sauce like it just came out of the microwave . The meatballs were like hard rubber that you couldn't even cut . The waitress said the cook forgot about it in the microwave . When I told her how bad the plate of food looked she claimed she did not notice it when she served it to our table . They took it off the bill & it got sent back. But that still didn't fix the problem . We also had a Meatloaf dinner that was edible but not much better in appearance & that too looked to be microwaved. We have eaten here before & decided to return but I will never go here again . It was the worst food & service that we have experienced . The cashier didn't even ask how everything was ! This is a great spot for breakfast. Especially after a late weekend night when you just dont feel like making your own meal. The waffles are served large and you are given an array of choices for toppings and syrups. The omelletes are stuffed full with any ingredients you so choose to add. I was eating there the other day, service was terrible. I think the server was named Sarah? I went up to pay and I believe it was the manager because I see her there a lot, she was screaming and cussing out one of the employees in front of a customer and also maybe where they where cooking. I was extremely disappointed at what I saw and heard. I recommend not going there, things have really changed over the years, it is a shame about how the manager is treating the people. read more

We go to Clarette's every time we're in town because we love the vegetarian options. It's the only place I can find vegetarian biscuits and gravy, so it's worth the trip there. We usually have a long wait on Sunday mornings, which we expect. Last weekend was particularly frustrating, tho, because we made reservations in advance for 10 people and it still took over an hour to get a table and another 40 minutes to get served. We wouldn't have been so annoyed about it except that the exact same size group who had reservations 15 minutes AFTER us got in 45 minutes before us. That was frustrating. The reservations made 4 days in advance didn't do any good. Literally every person was seated before us. You will get in faster with a group of 4 or less. If you have a large group, eat before you go 'cause you'll starve while waiting, take snacks for the diabetic and children in your group, and don't expect advance reservations to help. read more

So my review isn't about the food but more on the customer service. I visit this restaurant quite frequently but my last two visits were not the best of service. The first visit of the week one of the Waiters that took my order was spiting with every word he said so who know what was in my food. The spiting was just about disgusting. The 2nd visit of the week ( yes I eat out a lot), I ordered the roasted turkey dinner with all the fixings. We ordered two of these meals. The first one came out with everything on it like it was suppose to be. Mine came short of the bread and cranberry sauce. That wasn't a big deal because they said they would bring it right out. Well half way through my meal I noticed I don't get my mash potatoes and gravy. I brought this to the waitresses attention and she replied back" let me see what I can do since your paying for it anyways". I thought this was really tacky and I never asked for the meal to be free. Also I don't understand why the two people that run the place feel that they need to hang out in the booth next to the cash register all day and night. I mean if your worried about getting ripped off then maybe you should find some better help and pay them accordingly. read more
