Yum! This place is delicious and adorable. Excellent seafood and amazing espresso martinis! I wish I could have experienced their happy hour, but I was too busy on the slopes. However, my friends highly recommend the drinks and the burger for HH deals. I'm not a huge fan of oysters but they do have a large selection. All of the seafood was super fresh. Word of advice to management and staff, people visit aspen from all over the world and most don't wear their wealth these days - nonetheless, treat everyone as an equal regardless of their appearance (instead of looking them up and down before deciding how to serve them). Food was good, nothing to rave about tho. Their drinks were ALL ice so I would recommend staying away from those... you'd think you'd be able to get more than 2 sips out a drink; but not here. read more

We randomly stopped here for lunch today and were able to walk right in without a reservation. All of the staff from the host to our server were incredibly nice and attentive. The restaurant has an upscale bar in Nantucket-vibe and the menu has a lot of great options. We had amazing Bloody Mary's (they are light and go down fast), fresh oysters, and then I had the crab cake (it was perfect and not full of breading like most - the sauce complemented it very well) and my husband the linguini mussel dish. It's simple: get the lobster roll. We had to wait 36 mins (yes I kept that close of an eye) for our table, and it was worth it because once you sit down, you don't want to get up. Clark's has outdoor seating that brings a lot of attention/traffic. If you sit outside, there will be random people walking bye eyeing your delicious food--we were those people before we went in and asked for a table. It was happy hour around 3 in the afternoon, which included martini specials. I wasn't hungry at all, so I just ordered a side of fries. They are basically shredded potatoes with garlic and some other herbs and come out super crunchy. Then, I watched my boyfriend eat his lobster roll and tried a piece. I not only ordered my own, but we also convinced the couple next to us to order it as well. They make the bread in house and idk where they got this lobster from but it was meaty and rich with flavor. A definite must go while you're in Aspen. read more

Highlights: Great martinis Great wine list Have to start with the tartare and the crudo I liked the crab cake - it was full of fresh meat. We are going back tomorrow to try their charbroiled oysters. It's a bright, beautiful restaurant with a surprisingly cozy ambiance despite feeling upscale. ---WHAT WE ORDERED--- We started with the clam chowder, which hit the spot on a cold day in Aspen - it was perfectly balanced and they were so generous with the clams. Definitely a must-get if you're a fan of chowders! We also tried the shells 'n' cheese with lump crab which was so unexpectedly tasty! I had low expectations when it came out but truly, you can't go wrong with cheese, pasta, and crab! For our entrees, we had the lobster roll, seafood cioppino, and grilled octopus. The cioppino included several pieces of buttery, garlic toast to dip into the seafood-packed broth and was probably my favorite dish! You can't sleep on the lobster roll though, it's probably the best in the area! Finally, the grilled Spanish octopus was perfectly tender - that one left us wanting more but mostly because it was a little smaller in portion than the other dishes! JUST KIDDING. Of course, there's always room for dessert - we got the basque cake to share. It was a good portion for sharing and tasted flavorful and pretty unique with the cream cheese ice cream complement! I had a marvelous dinner here so I feel like I should give credit where credit is due. I made reservations for dinner and was led to my table about two minutes after I got there. The place was packed, but I was fortunate enough to get a corner booth that felt like my own little corner of the restaurant. I was given still water and bread/ butter before I even got the menu. The bread and butter was served with delicious butter and came with a pinch of salt and sliced radishes...Um, since the light in the restaurant was low, I thought these were sliced apples and I ate one. Not really my thing, but the rest of the spread was great. When I was presented with the menu, I decided to order a blueberry lemonade and the crab cakes. The lemonade was SO good! It seemed like there were other flavors at play. I didn't really get much of a blueberry taste, but there seemed to be a hint of strawberry and cucumber(?) I don't know, but whatever it was, it was delicious and refreshing. When my entree came out, I dug right in and was so happy with the entire dish. The crab cake had giant chunks of glorious crab meat and was in a delicate lemon butter sauce. The accompanying field salad was magnificent! Let me say- it had the BEST vinegarette I have ever tasted! I ate every single morsel on my plate. That folks- never happens! Even though I had stuffed myself silly, I was determined to try dessert. I ordered the Pot de Creme and it was perfection! PDC is always a very decadent dish, you eat a few bites and you're good for a long time. Clark's may have a rather simple front, but inside is a whole different story. You go in and it feels like you've stepped into a restaurant that's built on a harbor front or in a harbor town. The atmosphere is bright, and the service is great. Reminds me of the beach. The place was busy when we came in, likely due to the weekend farmer's market and the fact it was lunchtime. My party chose to be split in two to avoid the wait - we got two high tables across from the bar. Since this place was an oyster bar I had to try their oysters. I chose one from the East Coast and one from the West Coast. The West Coast one was saltier than the East Coast one, but maybe that's because I'm from the East Coast. Both oysters were good, in my opinion. The specialty dishes here are not for the faint of heart. The portions are quite generous, depending on what you get. The octopus was rather underwhelming compared with the other dishes my group got. Two of us got the linguine and clams, and my goodness, really good and worth the price! Compared with a similar place on the coast, this place is roughly equal. If you're looking for better, I'd recommend you to travel to the coastal states. If you're not looking to go beyond Aspen or the Rockies, then Clark's is your go-to for good seafood. read more

Clarks in Aspen is the kind of place that you wish Yelp had more than 5 stars. I would highly recommend making reservations. I made mine 30 days in advance on Open Table. The accept reservations 3 days out and I actually had it on my calendar so as not to miss out. Upon entering we were immediately seated and had waters on the table within a minute. The tap water tasted like silk and our glasses were never left half emptied before having them filled. I also want to add that I love the water glasses. I was so tempted to put one in my coat. We were expected to be rushed since Open Table states there is a table limit and not once did we feel rushed. Our server Georgina was just perfect. She gave us exactly the right amount of attention at the table. The oysters blew us away. We decided on 3 different types. I chose the Mussels and Clams and actually took a few spoonfuls of the sauce since it was THAT good!! It was served with 2 large pieces of grilled sourdough. This is not a cheap place but you will get your money's worth out of this entree. My daughter chose the Grouper and it did not disappoint. I had only mentioned on Open Table that I had come to town to celebrate my daughters birthday. Did not mention it and a candle had been added to the dessert we ordered. That was just nice, classy touch. Speaking of desserts SAVE ROOM for the key lime slice. You will not be disappointed. I live in Florida and know a thing or two about key lime pie. I also want to acknowledge the female bussers that were on Friday, 1 October. I loved the time they took to sanitize the tables and the time, time/detail they took setting each table. That did not go unnoticed by me. Disappointed. I'm a Clark's regular in Austin, TX. The food was great as usual, the service was NOT. I sat outside and was forgotten about from the get go. I had to find a wait person to help me several times and then go inside to the bar to pick up the forgotten wine I ordered from my wait person. When my bill was brought, she made a snarky comment to me that she was sorry I had to wait "5 minutes" for my wine. Always our first stop for lunch when we arrive in town. Can't go wrong with any item here. Starting with the large slices of bread with soft butter and sea salt on a wooden plank, you know you're in for a great meal. From the ceviche to the burger or lobster roll, it always satisfies. Our server, Maria, was so sweet and accommodating. This time we started with the caviar, which was fantastic. Followed by the octopus, not very large but very tasty. Stopped in for lunch here today with my family before they left our family holiday vacation for the airport to head home. The outside is unassuming, looks rustic but when you walk inside you're transported to a fancy seafood bistro somewhere in a major metropolitan area, not thinking you're in Aspen- Our group started off with their bread service that came with butter, radishes, and flake sea salt. The bread is clearly freshly baked. Hard not to eat all of it and share with the group. We went with the seafood tower: 6 jumbo shrimp cocktail, a dozen oysters, ceviche, crab salad, a lobster claw and knuckles with mignonette, cocktail sauces, and freshly grated horseradish and plenty of wedges of lemon. Between the four of us, we didn't have issues finishing the tower but I was worried because we had more food coming, haha. I ordered the Wedge Salad, it's HUGE. Essentially two smaller wedges so you can share. Really nice accompaniments, bacon lardons, egg yolk cooked perfectly, red onion, heirloom cherry tomatoes, blue cheese and homemade dressing. Couldn't eat it all. My brother got a side of the Mac n cheese with the crab. It's incredible! Hard not to keep stabbing his plate with my fork and rudely wolfing down his food. Our parents shared the cioppino, this was simply insane how the presentation came out. Garnishing the dish are two huge slices of their homemade bread seasoned with thin slices of garlic. The dish had plenty of seafood, (mussels, clams, crab legs, snapper and halibut, and the sauce was so delicious we all dug in and used the bread to soak up as much of the broth as we could. It's an extravagant place to eat, but one you shouldn't miss when you're here if you like seafood. When we walked out we couldn't be happier with our experience. read more
