Came here with a big group as we heard so much about this wonderful place. Lets start by saying the ambiance is impeccable. The staff was very polite and respectful. We were served by Georgy. She was such a wonderful server. We ordered a dozen and half oysters, shrimp cocktail, caviar, wedge salads, sea bass and a muscles and clams dish. Everything was so good. What a great meal! Clark's seems to be one of Aspen's best high energy casual restaurants. Food was great, people were all so nice - the crowd was beautiful and full of energy! You could tell it was well heeled guests and healthy happy locals! We kept it simple - great chowder - awesome yet not heavy. Loved the celery crunch (ok, could have used a few more clams)!!! But - delicious. Crudo - excellent and interestingly good presentation, chunks, not slices - we loved it! Wedge was a standard wedge, but we got 3 great shrimp with it. The rudest staff ever. Looked down on us like we were actual peasants. Got sat and a server didn't come over for like 15 minutes and when we finally asked a staff member for water and a server he said "I'm about to leave but okay.." and gave us waters and walks away... super weird. Every time I am in Aspen I come here. And every time it is amazing. We happened to be there during happy hour so we tried the 1/2 off burger. Tasted great! The service is fast and on point. I like the vibe here, it's sophisticated yet down to earth. I was surprised the hostess didn't have availability when their were many empty tables the entire time we were there, but so be it. We ate at Clark's for our 5th wedding anniversary. Here's the deets: We were supposed to have a reservation apparently. We were pleased to be seated with a cancellation. The atmosphere had a mix of classic old and new. I loved the 10,000 gallon fish tank, which added to the ambiance. As far as the food, we had mixed results. The appetizer bread was served burnt unfortunately- first time ever in a restaurant I must say. The waitress did forget our drinks too at first. We ordered a few things - the seafood and shells as an app, 2 Oysters, the Red Snapper, and the Grouper as well. Of all of the above, the red snapper was definitely my favorite. It had a flavorful side that complimented the fish flavor. The grouper wasn't bad- it was pretty "vanilla" though for the price tag, and the salad that came with it was disappointing- not sure how 3 leaves of a plant equates to a salad. All and all a decent experience, a bit pricy for the food quality, which was underwhelming- you'd expect a bit more for sure in Aspen. read more

I was debating between 3 or 4 stars, but decided to go with 4 only because I can't give 3 1/2! Firstly we do NOT eat oysters so this is a review of other menu items. To start I got the Bibb salad which was big in size but really just okay, very average and bland, and my husband ordered the clam chowder which he really liked it. We ordered the crab cakes which were a little better than average, but maybe we are spoiled from SoCal restaurants, and a side of cauliflower... which was pretty awful! When I say I want a seafood tower, I am not kidding. Clark's delivered on that front, and then some. I probably over-ordered but it was worth every single bite. This was one of my first meals dining in since February. It was on the more expensive side, but when in Aspen, you gotta go big. Reservations were required back in June and face masks were worn by all staff and patrons (until seated). The restaurant was definitely not at capacity, every other booth was occupied and outside there was only two-seater tables available. I've been to the sister Clark's in Austin and remembered that they do seafood and cocktails very well, so I had to start off with a dirty martini and fries. From there, it was a full seafood platter (oysters, prawns, crab salad, lobster, ceviche), cauliflower, and a wedge salad. WAY too much for two adults, but it felt like a big coming out party. I was excited to try this new-to-me restaurant on my recent trip to Aspen to visit my sister. The atmosphere and decor are very Cape Cod/Nantucket. The restaurant has an extensive oyster bar so we decided to start with a half dozen oysters. The oyster menu is divided in half separating East Coast and West Coast otters, which is pretty clever. All but one of the oysters we sampled were delicious. Next we had the Smoked gravlox salmon plate which was OK, but I would have preferred they offered smoked salmon. For the main course, my niece had the kale and goat cheese omelet, my sister had the linguine and clams and I ordered the crispy red snapper. We also ordered a side of shoestring fries and the grilled brussels sprouts. Overall, the food was very good! The standout dish was the linguine and clams. Unfortunately, the service was unbelievably slow. For whatever reason, they had the wait staff also bussing tables, and the priority seemed to be on cleaning and turning tables over so our meal took forever. read more

It is now 1/4 the size for same price and SOGGY. NOT FRESH! We've NEVER loved Clark's but would maybe every 3 months go to mix it up. Steakhouse gives you TWO delicious crispy crab cakes for less money. We are the opposite of cheap. We know there is inflation but tonight's crab cakes were a ripoff and beyond YUCK! We will NEVER return. Also, there has always been a super weird vibe. Woah, the people who run this restaurant lack the most basic business sense, and it's really unfortunate in the already low-margin restaurant business. We showed up on a Saturday night without a reservation (not high season, fwiw) - half of the restaurant was EMPTY, including both tables and bar seats, yet they said they were fully booked for the night. Couldn't put us on a waitlist, and said their kitchen was under staffed. C'mon, a Sat night, your place is only half occupied, and somehow you couldn't seat people who walk in, and can only serve them drinks but not food, AND takeout is not an option? The future of the restaurant business is omni-channel (esp after the pandemic), yet this place is probably like 0.000001 channel at this point. I swear that DMV workers are more efficient than this restaurant being able to turn tables and generate sales. Consistently superb food, ambiance and staff even during the pandemic. It was so good we came for lunch three days in a row. I kid you not. High-quality drinks and food. Staff is friendly and accommodating and they all know their menu -- isn't that refreshing?! Cocktails are on point and martinis are silky and cold! Oysters were fresh. The table bread has the perfect crust-to-doughy-airy center. The accompanying butter is malleable and freshly whipped and unsalted for a DIY table experience. Grouper was seasoned well (read: simply) and the kitchen executed THE perfect, patient sear so that the top turned into this type of chicharron goodness. Yum. Asparagus is so good and still has a crunch to it. I omitted the pepper flakes and or was still good. The darn grits are outrageous. You will need to hit the mountain an hour longer because of it and it is so worth it. The butter, the cheese, the grots all coalesce together to form this cloud of symptoms sin that must be tried at least once. Shells and cheese with crab is excellent. My partner and I popped in for lunch on Thursday afternoon and we are so GLAD we did! The staff, down to the last person, we're very friendly and took great care of us as soon as we stepped into the restaurant. Food - we didn't have appetizers, as we thought we weren't that hungry but as soon as the bread, butter, sea salt and radishes came out we pretty much destroyed two loaves. Our waiter recommended the Clams & Linguini w/Jalapeños and both of us can honestly say, it was the best Linguini we've had in years! The individual should not be the face of any company if that's going to be the temperament to which a guest is met with. This place was amazing! I love the beach-y vibe. My husband and I ate here on the last night of our honeymoon and it was the best meal we had the whole two weeks. They had halibut (I think halibut) collar, which is a special when they do. My husband loved it. I couldn't eat it but it looked great. I had scallops with just roasted garlic and butter. The scallops were a very good size. It was a generous portion and it was DELICIOUS. We had oysters to start and they had a large variety from the east and the west coast. After a day exploring the town and hiking through some trails up the mountain. Clarks hit the spot! My overall experience was a 9/10 and will definitely be back. The atmosphere is great and met this nice couple at the bar. We stat at a high top table for lunch and ordered oysters, a cup of New England clam chowder and split the burger. The oysters were tasty and the perfect size. Next the clam chowder was flavorful and came with a size of oyster crackers the chowder was filling and perfect temperature. The burger was a good choice to split after the oysters and the clam chowder. We finished our late lunch around 4:45pm and chatted with some people at the bar. It definitely starts to get busy right around 5pm recommend making reservations ahead of time. This was my first time at Clarks and it didn't disappoint. Decor: Clean, chic, understated Patio: Not sure it can be called a patio...outdoor seating is just a few two top tables and it's so very lovely, especially with the gorgeous window boxes in full bloom. Menu: Classics with modern fun twists. Seafood is the way to go for this girl! Lobster roll, tuna salad sandwich, clam chowder, scallops....seriously delicious. Real unique & unexpected standouts would be the pickles and the Tuscan kale salad. Iced tea is served with bamboo straws which I like so much more than paper. Since not many places are open for an impromptu lunch in the off-season (October), we popped in here by process of elimination. We didn't have to wait long for an outdoor table even though we didn't have reservations. Too bad I can't say the same about our food. All around us, diners who arrived later were served before us. After 45 minutes (!!!), our food finally arrived. Fortunately, they gave us their signature complimentary sourdough bread while we waited. It was so fantastic that we devoured it and asked for more. This place is expensive, but the food is good. I didn't feel like spending over $30 for a tempting fish entree for lunch, so I opted for the Pan Roasted Black Angus Hamburger on their house baked bun with Gruyere and Sauce Gribiche ($22). It was more like a slider, but the meat was juicy and delicious. The ample serving of shoestring fries that accompanied it hit the spot. My companion chose the Grilled Spanish Octopus ($24), which he gobbled up. Gorgeous views and fun people watching added to the experience. More like a 4.5 and I would definitely go back. We got there at 8, but didn't even fully sit down before the server asked if we had a chance to look at the drink menu. There was about a five minute turn around from when we ordered our food to when it arrived. Microwave? Wasn't a crowded night, but it definitely wasn't a slow night. Whatever they did to get our food to us that fast doesn't really matter because it was delicious. The octopus was outstanding, and I would go back to that restaurant and reorder the same thing.
