This was a really fun find. The restaurant feels like a mini history lesson in midcentury Taiwanese culture. I loved the classroom desks and seats, the glass cases full of old toys, and magazines and other memorabilia on the walls. I would go back just to take in all of the things on the walls. The menu was a bit bewildering. You can get a combo of one food from group A and another from group B. Some items from group A and B were available a la carte, but others weren't. If you want lots of vegetables and few carbs, this is not the ideal place to go. You can get baby bok choy and various iterations of tofu a la carte, but most of the items are noodles or rice. I ordered the beef noodle soup. As I had hoped, the beef was tender and generous. The broth was not as complex as I anticipated, but it was still pretty good. The baby bok choy tasted like it was boiled separately, and it didn't take on the flavor of the broth. I liked the chewy noodles, but my mom didn't. My mom seemed to enjoy the miso seafood noodle soup broth, and the seafood itself was also generous. Something didn't agree with her afterwards, though. The bathrooms were clean and well-stocked. We ordered at the counter and got a buzzer, but the staff kindly brought our trays to the table. Overall, I enjoyed my visit. I might go back to try the boba tea. read more

Food, service, ambiance says it all on this restaurant. Ana, the owner always tries to go above and beyond to improve her menu. The drinks here, are a little. You have a lot of choices from teas. , toppings, and taste test before, ao you can pick what you want. This attests to the long lines. A cute branch of Class 302 with the same classroom decorations, featuring no-frills comfort food and self-serve boba! Note that there is NO free wifi as listed - we came here intending to study using that, but they didn't have anything available. The food here is nothing mind blowing, but solid and comforting! The fried rice was good, and I'd get it again! The broth from the beef noodle soup wasn't the most flavourful, but the beef was really tender. The Cumin Popcorn Chicken was delicious too, with a great little spicy kick. They're only offering medium size for drinks right now and the honey boba is still limited to two scoops, but don't let that concern you. I LOVE boba and two scoops was enough for me - it's honestly about half the cup. The main downside for me was that the teas are a little sweet (I usually order 50% sugar or slightly less at other places), but I think that's worth it for the toppings you can get and the mixing and matching you can do with the drink flavours. Overall, I'd come back here! It's a great spot for some lowkey eats and a friendly face for those of us bubble tea drinkers who like more boba than regular. read more

I don't get the bad reviews on this place. At least in my opinion, the food is good, the service was prompt, and the location was great. Parking is extremely easy since this place shares a lot in a large plaza. You order at the counter and service was quick and easy. The food was solid that night. We enjoyed our meatball soup, popcorn chicken, and various rice dishes. Portions are huge that there was plenty to go. Have been coming here for years, and came here for the first time since their remodel last night and they NEED to change how they run their store back to how it was before the remodel. The store is now stuck between a sit-down restaurant vibe and casual cafe vibe and it does no favors to those who work there. I do not understand AT ALL why people who are ordering food need to be seated at the tables by the employees who also simultaneously need to man the register. I sat here on a Friday night for a few hours while getting some work done and I witnessed the employees struggle to work through the Friday night rush in a new system that seemed INCREDIBLY inefficient. My assumption is that many people like myself go to Class 302 because they enjoy the casual ambience, food, and drinks. I promise you nobody who comes here needs to be seated for dine-in and have their order taken by an employee at the table instead of just ordering at the front like we did before the remodel. I was feeling second-hand stress for the employees as I watched them try to handle the drink orders at the front, track down the customers who ordered to-go, and seat and serve dine-in customers while the store grew increasingly crowded with the line of people waiting at the front. And I must clarify that this is no fault of the employees, who absolutely continued to do their best to provide great and friendly service, but the fault of whoever it was who decided to switch up the business model. This self serve boba place in Irvine needs to be rated higher just for the experience! No other boba place in the city has this. Can test out flavors with small sample cups before picking one to commit to and unlimited topping options. Imagine how much these toppings would cost at any other boba place when added on? Class 302 is back with a remodel!!! That being said this new order system makes no sense. They have 2 lines now, one for just takeout with only 1 kiosk and a separate one for dine in. If you want drinks you can't even go up to the cashier as they will directly back to the kiosk. Only having one causes a build up of people huddle all around the kiosk, plus the few people that are trying to get into the dine in line, plus people trying to place their drinks on the counter so they can get sealed plus the people that want to get their toppings making everything look very unorganized. Why have drinks for takeout only be ordered through kiosk when regardless we have to talk to the cashier to when adding toppings for our drinks. There is also this Asian girl with glasses with terrible service. I'm not one to complain about service but with the remodel they're items to menu that have been added but also taken away. For the popcorn chicken we asked if the sauce that was handed before was the same. She coldly says no it's better (as if flavor is not subjective) then proceeds to tell us the sauce we are looking for is at Panda Express!! I'm not sure if there new management but from mediocre popcorn chicken to deceased tea flavors. I'm finding this new remodel very lack luster. It's a shame I had plenty of old memories of this place. Love Class 302! Been a fan since visiting their Rowland Heights location over 10 years ago (RIP RH location). This review is for the BOBA only. I used to frequent this location when it first opened a few years ago. The concept of self-serve boba was mind blowing to me at the time. I love how you can pick and choose your preferred toppings and mix and match different flavors of milk tea to make your own boba concoction. I recently took hubby here and he fell in love. We probably come here once a week now. He loves sampling the different milk teas before building his own. His go-to is almond milk tea, jasmine milk tea, or taro milk tea. My personal favorite is the wintermelon milk tea or Jasmine milk tea. He loves adding pudding and boba into his tea but I just love plain boba. The boba here is very good. Consistency is chewy and they try to make fresh boba everytime we visit. We love it. The milk teas aren't overly sweet and they all taste great. Overall experience here is always great. We love mixing and matching our own flavors and it's always such a treat. We hope to try out the food another time! I also hope they bring back the shaved ice as well. read more

Food poisoning alert. We were fans of the very original 302 class branch and this is our first time back to Irvine in a LONG time so we decided to give it a try again. The food was great, Beef Noodle Soup and Spicy fried rice were quite memorable. The noodles had a nice chew to it and was very flavorful, while the spicy fried rice was too spicy for me but also extremely tasty if you LOVE spicy stuff. Sadly, we got the slushy coconut drink with added almond pudding and boba. I really don't know if it was the coconut drink or the pudding that did it. I'm suspecting that the slushy machines don't have great turnover and maybe weren't cleaned properly. Projectile vomiting, diahrrea, the whole nine yards. I just couldn't believe it. read more

I am a very big fan of boba drinks so when I saw Class 302 Cafe, I got reeled in really quick LOL. From the outside looking in, I saw self serve boba drinks. I was even more curious and intrigued about this place. I didn't know how the ordering of self serve boba process works. The gentleman at the cashier was nice enough to share with me on how it works. Thank you kiddo! Everyone behind the counter looked like college students. Process: 1. Pay for the cup... $5.75 + tax. Just one size. 2. Choose your toppings. You can have as many toppings as you would like... sweet! Maybe you just want toppings as your drink and no liquids... now you can LOL. They will put the toppings in the cup for you. 3. Go to the machines or buckets and get your tea or other drinks. 4. Bring the filled up cup back to the front and they will seal the top of cup for you. This was my very first kinda self serve boba experience. They had to pack the toppings and seal your cup for you. So it wasn't entirely self serve LOL. It was different indeed and kinda fun actually. Here's what I got... all 3 teas mixed together with the 4 toppings... I didn't know what to expect, but it turned out really great tasting! I liked the 3 tea flavors. Toppings were good, too. Btw, you can ask for a taste tester cup (it's a really tiny cup so don't get too excited too fast LOL) to try all of the teas before choosing. I did LOL. There's quite a number of teas to choose from... only a few caught my taste buds. Choose wisely! I love this boba place at Tustin Marketplace. The cashier was very accommodating and kind. Even when I brought my dog in a pet carrier backpack, she couldn't resist commenting on how cute he was. She also helped us choose the perfect toppings and drink. While Class 302's food is mediocre, I visit for their amazing drinks. The beef noodle soup I had was too salty and the beef was dry. However, their drinks are fantastic. Yesterday, I was thrilled to find that they had brought back their sample cups. The variety of slush flavors and the mango green tea are my favorites. I even mixed the mango green tea with mango slush, creating a killer combination. Among my preferred toppings are strawberry popping boba, litchi jelly, mango jelly, and mango chunks. I always get carried away and add too much jelly and boba, leaving little space for the drinks! Overall, I highly recommend this place more for its drinks than its food. read more

I think this place is nostalgic for a lot of my OC folks. Places like these put boba entrepreneurship on the map. I regrettably haven't tried 302 before, so I had to stop by this Irvine location. As you probably know by now, it's self serve. You pay for the cup and choose your toppings, then head over, choose your actual drink, then head back to the counter to seal. The order didn't really make too much sense to me, since I feel like the purchasing step is unnecessary and the sealing step had me cutting quite a bit of people in line. Either it should be streamlined like fro-yo places, or have multiple employees at multiple stations. Anyways, I appreciated how generous they were on samples. I got to try all of the teas, milk teas, and slushies. I didn't quite like the fruit teas because of how artificial it tasted, probably flavored with those giant tubs from the restaurant supply warehouses. The wintermelon and 302 teas were really good, and the slushies were alright. I had grass jelly as my topping, but I think it was old, since it tasted a bit off and was quite rubbery. Overall, class 302 is a great concept and I'm glad to see it still around. There's still those consistency issues that I'm pretty sure fell apart in recent, but I trust that they'll be able to iron out. read more

They then give you the cup and have you go fill it up from pre mixed teas. Decently busy location. Only one staff member at cashier to help everyone by taking orders and the people who return to get their drink sealed. We like coming to this location as there's plenty of other casual restaurants to order food from with covered patio tables to eat at. We've been coming here the last 5 years specifically for the create your own tea drinks. We've been to other locations and food and drinks are comparable. It's a really good value considering I usually have my cup 1/2-2/3 filled w various toppings (i.e. boba, almond jello, lychee jelly, aloe vera jelly, grass jelly, pudding, etc). Unfortunately due to COVID, you can't sample the teas before filling. Because I don't like mine too sweet, I usually will add at least 1/2 jasmine tea and they used to have an unsweetened tea (if you ask). They also got rid of the rose milk tea which we liked. Fried pork chops w stir fried noodles or other dried noodles are usually my go to. Popcorn chicken and stinky tofu is good too. this place is under new ownership and nothing like the old Class 302. The girl working the counter was rude. My daughter and I ordered two items and she gave us 1 fork! Went in to ask for another fork and she came out from the kitchen obviously annoyed. Instead of, "Can I help you?" I got, "yes?" Again with an attitude that reflected she was annoyed. Ordered the pineapple fried rice with bacon and we got CURRY pineapple fried rice! ‍. The sweet potato fries were soft and soggy. Never patronizing this place again and would not recommend it. It's a fun experience for kids getting to pick their drink and their toppings, but the drinks were too sweet and I'm not a big fan of boba that isn't made to order. I've been here a couple times because I love the self-serve boba bar concept and they have really yummy food items. My personal favorite is the popcorn chicken and 302 Milk tea. But, I love all of their milk tea and green tea options. I am not the biggest fan of their smoothies but a lot of people get the thai tea smoothie. They have a ton of different options for toppings and you can get as many as you want which I love. The price is a little high but worth it. The seating area is really great for a casual dinner, quick snack, study session, or just to hangout with friends. There is an older gentleman there who is always so sweet and kind and fixes anything whenever I ask (such as making the popcorn chicken more spicy). If I could give this place 0 stars, I would! The workers are a big contribution as to why. They are rude & inattentive. They are getting paid to do a job and they can't even do that.
