raised by lions has to be one of my favorite coffee shops in the area. i love that there are so many different flavors and options, so it never feels boring no matter how many times you go. i also think it's super sweet that they have drinks named after some of their regulars and staff. it gives the whole place a really personal, community feel. the shop itself is always such a vibe too. it's cozy but still lively, and it feels like the kind of place you can either sit and catch up with someone or just hang out by yourself for a bit. the staff have always been friendly and helpful, even when it gets busy. i've tried a number of items from their food and drink menus, and nothing has been a disappointment thus far. it's the perfect morning or weekend stop to spend some time and hang around with a nicely crafted drink. read more

Came here to meet up a friend and ended up trying their matcha. We got the strawberry and banana matcha. My friend got the strawberry with 1/4 sweetness and it was lacking. When it came to my order, no one mentioned that I could modify it so it was full sweet..too sweet. The drinks come with freeze dried fruit on top which brings some texture but the matcha does not taste ceremonial and slightly bitter. The ambiance is swanky and a spot for people to be on their laptops to do homework or work. They offer pastries and free wifi. This was a nice find. My mom and I wanted coffee and she has to have hot hot hot coffee. When she first received her order of a hot ube latte, it was only warm, even for me, it was a the much cooler side, as if they put the cold milk straight in instead of steaming it first. They did correct it though when we brought it to their attention. Mine was iced, much easier. You can taste ube and still appreciate the coffee flavor. I liked that it wasn't too sweet. My first visit to Raised by Lions was 2.5 months ago, but I've been there about 3-4 times as of now and must say that they make one of the best-quality matcha lattes in Orange County! It's just that there's so much ice in the cup that there isn't much to drink and it's not that cheap either. Brio Brio in Lake Forest offers a better quality with more drink volume, but Raised by Lions comes in at second place so far. The food is pretty expensive and I haven't tried it yet. The staff are quite nice, pleasant, and professional. The vibe is really chill and hip too, but not enough seating across inside and outside most times I've been there. I stumbled upon this place looking on Yelp. I was really disappointed with the Banana Matcha Cream. I added another 2g of matcha and it still was not good. It just tasted milky. The photos make it look like a vibrant, creamy green matcha drink, but what I received looked nothing like the advertised product. The matcha color was dull and unappealing, and there was barely any cream on top despite it being part of the drink's name. To make matters worse, the drink had a grainy texture and wasn't smooth at all, which made it unpleasant to drink. For the price, I expected something that matched the photos and description. Really smooth coffee! Came on a weekday around 1pm and place was bustling and packed! There are tables and chairs for people to do work or socialize and every seat was full. I've been here a couple times & always liked the coffee but find myself making the drive too often. I got a text offer (which I love that they do) and I happened to be in the area so I decided to stop by and tried the coconut vanilla latte which was really good! I love that more coffee shops are embracing coconut because I love it. I've yet to get a drink from here that I didn't really enjoy :) I also tried the avocado toast which was packed with avocado, the egg was cooked perfectly. But it was really ALOT of avocado, it got pretty messy to eat. It is pretty filling so I'd recommend to get it if you're really hungry. The avocado spread itself could have used more flavor it was a bit bland/mushy and the bread a bit rough. On a next visit I'd probably try something else but if you like your avocado toast more like this, give it a try. I will say this little coffee shop can get pretty busy and there isn't a ton of seating so if you're planning to use this space to work in be aware of that, they also have some limited seating outside. read more

Came here on a whim with my girlfriends and ordered an Iced Cinnamon Toast Latte with an Avocado Egg Toast and was very impressed with it all! I had difficulty deciding what I wanted to order at first in terms of coffee - I was between this and the Vanilla Bean Oat Shaken Espresso - and the girl at the counter helped me out by describing both drinks and recommending them by my preferences which I appreciated! The drink itself was creamy, sweet but not too sweet, and along with the espresso it was the perfect kickstart to my day. The Avocado Toast was great as well - I always love when places aren't scared of giving the customer a huge slab of bread! The balsamic drizzle over the cherry tomatoes and avocado really brought the whole thing together! There was both indoor and outdoor seating available, and since we were a bigger group (around 6 total) we were able to move some of the smaller tables together to fit us all. Our food came moderately quick for the crowd of people that had come both before and during our stay, and everyone seemed content with their food and drinks as well! The staff were all so patient and sweet even considering how busy they were. From the moment you walk in the tiled coffee sign on the floor was the first thing I noticed and I loved it! It's such a cute artistic touch. We ordered the Spanish latte with extra shots and the herbal loose tea 'The Flirt' which was chamomile and hibiscus. As well as a chocolate croissant and almond croissant. Spanish Latte was perfection and so smooth, whatever beans they used allowed the drink to really shine without overpowering it with espresso. The herbal tea did have to steep for a bit and once it did it was so flavorful!! They do come without sugar though so just heads up if you need that in your tea, ask for it. The croissants were absolutely delicious!!! The chocolate one though was probably the best I've had anywhere. We can't wait to come back to this place, they had stickers and cute merch as well! Cocoa Cream Cold Brew from RBL Staples menu: 4/5. A slightly acidic-tasting cold brew, but the cream helped tone down the acidity. It was also more chocolatey than sweet, which was nice. Kinda misleading since the cream is not cocoa-flavored like the name suggests...maybe it should be called something along the lines of cream-topped cocoa cold brew. This coffee shop in the corner of Red Hill and Edinger is always bustling. There is a line every time I visit, but the wait isn't too long. Staff are friendly and seem to do their best to work as efficiently as possible. Everything on the menu sounded way too delicious that I changed my mind about three times before I saw the 'barista faves' sign... The person in register was kind and patient with me as I kept changing my mind. I ended up getting the iced hojicha latte with one pump of lavender and sweet cream on top (a barista fave). DELICIOUS! Most hojicha lattes from other spots are typically grainy, but not this place! When I entered, it was pretty busy and no where to sit indoors. Many people were studying, having meetings, or just talking to each other. My drink came out in about 7-10 minutes, which isn't bad for how many people were in the store! read more

Well, I've got to visit a few times and I can say that this place is pretty decent. On my third trip I decided to buy some of their beans that they have roasted and whats cool is if you buy a bag you get a drip coffee for free. they have a wide selection of drink options as well as your basic coffee needs. They have plenty of food selections. I have tried the quiche and that I will give a 3 out of five stars. It's just ok and I have tried it twice. I got the breakfast sandwich. It is slightly too little for me. I would probably need to order two but the sausage flavor is pretty good. The bread is pretty soft. It's a basic breakfast sandwich. I would give the breakfast sandwich at 2.5 out of 5 stars. I have tried the black sesame latte which has a great nutty flavor. It's not too strong. It's actually pretty well balanced with the espresso that they used. This is probably my favorite so far I would give that drink five out of five. The service here is great. They're very knowledgeable on all the means that they have and they can help you pick out the roast that would be right for your drink, depending on what they have available that they can actually grind up for you. There is plenty of space to take your laptop and work from there for a while. You can't get a bit noisy at sometimes but if you go early, it's pretty quiet and you have a cool atmosphere to work since I work pretty close to here sometimes it or maybe even just once a week I'll be stopping by to grab a coffee from time to time read more
