My wife and I have been searching for a good Cuban restaurant in the Cape. We have a favorite spot in Naples, but we'd really love to find something closer to home. We've tried most of the Cuban restaurants in the area with very little success. To start, we ordered one beef empanada and one ham and cheese empanada. The beef was outstanding -- great flavor and very well done. The ham and cheese, however, was lacking that solid, bold taste we were hoping for. We also ordered the Cuban sandwich. It was good, but it just wasn't quite what we were looking for compared to our favorite in Naples. The restaurant itself is very clean and has a nice bar area that's great for watching games. It was a bit loud for our liking between the blenders running and the iPad at the bar announcing orders. Overall, we would rate it as a "give it a try." 3.5 read more

This is about the third and last for me the last times we've had to return the food because it was room temperature not hot so it seems like the serve the rice beans side and let it sit while the cook the steak or whatever you order by the time it comes to the table only the protein is hot, the manager is very nice but it's frustrating every time we come it's the same even this time we mention to the waitress and still the same we called the manager which knows us already and said that the waitress is a new hire, it's a shame because the food is good but frustrating for us, if you don't mind your food room temperature you will enjoy it. read more

Was really excited to find a new Cuban restaurant to try in a super convenient location but ended up a bit disappointed in the mediocre food. My husband and I both ordered a Cuban sandwich with a side of Yuka fries. The Cuban was lacking flavor and the Yuka fries were cut too large and didn't cook all the way. The highlight was the sauce for the Yuka, that was delicious. Our daughter had the kids chicken tenders and they were hand breaded and cooked perfectly. My brother ordered a burger and said it was one of the best he's had with delicious spices. The service was OK but we had to ask for drink refills after having empty glasses for a while. Oh no, yet another favorite Cuban cuisine but close to where I am living at the moment in Cape Coral. Old Cuban Restaurant and bar is beautifully decorated, the ambiance is casual but equal to dressing up if you wanted to. The food.... Oh the food is incredible. I came in for lunch on Saturday. The space was very pretty inside, with hanging plants and elegant lighting. We were seated right away. Service was good, and cuban bread was brought to the table. Each day of the week has different specials in the menu. Under Saturday, I ordered the chicken and yellow rice with a side of fried yucca. The fried yucca was some of the best I've ever had, and the sauce paired with it was perfection. The chicken and yellow rice were so good. It had peas, lima beans, red and green peppers, and corn within the yellow rice. While the dish tasted great, I did have 2 bones within pieces of my chicken. A better job should be done checking for these things while prepping the chicken. Everyone at the table was happy with their food and the large portions. read more

I came to this place twice, and both times have been highly disappointing. The first time I came for breakfast was on a Saturday morning, and the waitress at the bar told me that their coffee machine was broken, so I left. That same week, I came for dinner with our daughter and her family and sat at our table and waited over 20 minutes for our waitress to take our drink order; meanwhile, other servers were passing by our tables doing nothing and just talking with each other. We finally got our drinks and from there it got worse, our food was cold and bland, my Oxtail must have been reheated in the microwave because it was dry and tough. There are so many Cuban/Latin restaurants in this area that you would think management would step up before you start losing customers. read more

Last night we went to Old Cuban for an early dinner. This was our second visit, the first being for breakfast a few weeks ago. The restaurant is open for breakfast, lunch and dinner. Dinner yesterday included their chicken noodle soup, delicious Cuban bread, chicken Milanese and steak Milanese, black beans and rice. The staff is good at checking up on drink refills and also getting us another basket of the fantastic bread. Overall we had a nice time, great food and comfortable booth seating. read more

They are pretty good about charging you for an item even tho they done have it. I showed up to pick up my order and was not told that they did not have the only item my toddler wanted. Went all the way home to find the item missing and was charged for it. Tread lightly with this place, its managed like a banana republic. Now I have to go elsewhere to feed my daughter since she's priority. So much for a quick easy meal. First time visiting and I was definitely reminded of Havana 1957. Service was amazing very attentive and friendly we were seated right away. Ambience was great very cozy and music definitely portrayed old Cuban culture also did the pictures on the walls. Decor was beautiful every little detail was very well executed. Discovered this nice Cuban restaurant while we were near Pine Island. It was Saturday and I ordered caldo gallego and it was delicious my husband had steak and eggs. This new restaurant reminds me of one of my favorite Miami Cuban restaurants Havana 1957. The place just recently opened and came highly recommended. It has a nice looking bar, spacious seating and very clean. The walls are adorned with nostalgic pictures of Cuban and some of the most iconic musicians. We really enjoyed eating here! Be ready to be served tons of food and truly delicious. The wait staff is super attentive and gave us excellent service. They made us feel at home. We had several traditional Cuban meals such as palomilla steak, mofongo, tostones relleno and roasted pork. The meals were all delicious and hearty portions. Definitely a great place to eat. We've eaten here before and it was decent but each time we pick up food to go, the quality continues to decline further and further. This time my husband and I just stopped in for a coffee at the bar. We ordered 2 cortaditos. Our standards may be high, being Cuban American and from Miami, but the coffee was the absolute worst I have EVER had in my life. It was watery, overly bitter, and just plain disgusting. Being such a staple, they should consider training the bar staff on cafecito cubano making skills. We'll continue giving the food a chance but never ordering a coffee here again.
