I seriously dislike writing bar reviews but this one isn't good! My stomach hurts as I'm writing this from the cheese coney I got there earlier. It literally was like a bar s weiner ,on the cheapest bun they could find, the worst can chili they could find, old onions, and cheese. Did I mention it was barely warm?? I knew as I was eating it that I shouldn't have.. If a hot dog ,the most basic menu item can be this bad,how much better can the menu get. Nice people and I hate writing unpleasant things about a place I've come to since high school but truth is truth.

Pickles were over cooked "burnt" and tasted like old old oil, and pickles were cut paper thin slice, not recommended

A classic Norman establishment owned by the same family forever. Forget other drive ins. This one is the best. But get real for a bit, it's just a drive in. Too many reviews on here are expecting gourmet food. Weirdos! You go for the nostalgia, variety of drinks, good burgers, Cajun fries, and PICKLE-O's!!! It's the perfect place to go in the summer after hanging out at the pool and need a slushy cool down.

As a student 10+ years ago, I never tried Classic 50s. I had come back to Norman over the weekend and decided to try it. I figured if it was still in business all these years, that it should still be good right? Nope. I ordered a large Cajun Pickle-Os and a small pina colada slush. I was quite shocked by how the fried pickles looked and the small amount they gave for a large. I'm not sure if they gave me a regular size instead, but this was a large, then that's pretty disappointing and not worth the money. Not only did they not look good, they also didn't taste good. Some were burnt and they mostly tasted too greasy (like they were fried twice or more). The slush was good but was a little melted already. To be honest, I don't know if I will order any food from here again, but would try other slush flavors.

My buddy was taking me around Oklahoma and showing me some of his favorite places he used to eat at in Oklahoma. We wound up here at Classic 50's drive-in. I got the bacon cheeseburger, crinkled cut fries and pickel-o's. The burger was flavorful and the bacon on my burger was crispy. Also enjoyed the batter they used on the pickel-o's. I would for sure stop by here again if ever in the area only next time would ask them for less ice in my drink.

I debated between a four- and five-star rating, but overall this was still a five-star experience…read more This was my second visit, and I returned because I remembered having the best steak I'd ever eaten here. While this steak wasn't quite as impressive, it was a bit tougher than I'd hoped, the flavor was still phenomenal, with a great smoky, straight-off-the-grill taste. Our server, Gracie, was fantastic: friendly, helpful, and accommodating to our large party. We ordered several appetizers and enjoyed most of them, though the cornbread was noticeably dry according to several people at the table. The coconut pineapple margarita was a standout and well worth ordering. The tropical flavors were delicious, and the coconut rim was a great touch. I also loved my salad, especially the tomatoes, which were surprisingly flavorful. For my entrée, the steak was cooked well and paired nicely with the mashed potatoes. Although the texture kept it from matching my first visit, it was still very enjoyable. One thing we really enjoyed was the atmosphere. We were seated in a room toward the back near the wine cellar, adjacent to a pond outside. It ended up being a great spot because we could watch people enjoying the outdoor area throughout the evening. The restaurant struck a nice balance, it felt upscale and welcoming without being overly quiet. Our group was able to be a little loud and goofy without feeling out of place, which made the experience even more fun. What ultimately secured the five-star rating was dessert. I can't remember its name, but it's pictured in the photo. It was enormous and absolutely incredible, one of the best desserts I've ever had and the perfect ending to the meal. Overall, I would absolutely recommend this restaurant. The steak wasn't quite as tender as I remembered, but the excellent service, great drinks, solid appetizers, enjoyable atmosphere, and outstanding dessert made for a wonderful experience.

Another person in my group also ordered the Wagyu steak, and we both felt the same way--it was not good at all. For a $51 steak, I expected excellent quality, but instead it tasted like something you could buy at a dollar store. I ended up leaving hungry because I couldn't bring myself to eat it. I do want to recognize the staff. Our server was a very polite young man who provided excellent service, and the hostess was welcoming and hospitable. In the end, my bill was around $60 because I decided to splurge on myself today. It's disappointing to spend that much money only to end up wasting it on a steak I couldn't eat. I truly hope the restaurant takes another look at the quality of its Wagyu steak because it did not live up to its price.

I've been to the OKC location a few times in the past but this was the first time to the Norman location. The Norman location is fancier inside and outside. I loved the decorations, especially the fireplace at the entrance and lobby area. Our server was friendly and attentive. I had a Don Julio 1942 which had a nice sweet aroma. I could smell it every day, and I don't drink. I had the American wagyu ribeye steak, a hybrid of wagyu and black angus. This was one of the specials with the other being the Japanese Wagyu for $30 per oz, which I had the last time at the OKC location. The steak was cooked perfectly, medium rare, with a pink red interior. The meat was moist and tender. The only thing I didn't like about this cut was the large piece of fat in the steak, instead of being evenly distributed in the meat. I would recommend to either get the Japanese Wagyu or the regular ribeye because of the "unequal" distribution of fats. I got a free crème brûlée for my birthday. This has always been my favorite dessert on their menu. I also got my go-to appetizer and sides: rock shrimps, asparagus, and sautéed mushrooms.

Great service and atmosphere. Food was uneven in terms of quality…read more My wife and I ate here for the first time with two other couples on a Saturday night. One couple lives in the Norman area and reserved our table. I was excited to try this Norman institution and enjoyed doing a little research in The Oklahoman archives ahead of time to find out more about its history. The dining room reminded me of Cheever's in OKC: close quarters, white background, plenty of extra items hanging everywhere, including wine glasses hanging from wooden racks attached to the ceiling. The menu reminded me of both Cheever's and Charleston's. It leans into a more sophisticated set of flavors, but they're not trying to rock the boat. The list of items on the menu is long enough that everyone in your party can find something that they would like to eat, but it's not overwhelmingly long like the one at the Cheesecake Factory. Another couple ordered the spinach artichoke dip for our table. I had a bite on one of the petite toasts that were served with it. Not bad, but it didn't have the background spiciness or discernible parmesan cheese flavor that I like to taste in spinach artichoke dip. Every entree comes with a salad, and I ordered the blue cheese wedge salad. On the positive side, the wedge of lettuce was icebox cold and crisp. The bits of bacon sprinkled on top added just the right amount of salty and meaty to the salad. On the other hand, their homemade blue cheese dressing did not have as much blue cheese in it as I expected. Not sure if their recipe involves so much mixing that the blue cheese chunks disappear in the process or if they started out with a blue cheese that doesn't break off into chunks. I prefer blue cheese dressing with tang, and this one didn't have it. My entree was one of the specials: miso-mushroom fried chicken thighs. I was enticed by the menu description which mentioned bone-in chicken thighs and local mushrooms in the sauce. I was disappointed that what came to my plate were two boneless chicken thighs. They were wrapped in a crunchy fried coating that I enjoyed, but boneless is not bone-in. The mushroom sauce was tasty, but it didn't match what I imagined in my head. I was expecting whole or halved mushrooms but received little bits of mushrooms. I respect their recipe. It still tasted good, but I would rather sink my teeth into mushrooms when they are called for. The accompanying squash medley was excellent; crisp tender squash added color to the plate and sang out the praises of summer vegetables. The accompanying sour cream mashed potatoes were silky and complemented the chicken well. For dessert, my wife and I tried the chocolate peanut butter pie. It was not what I expected based on past experiences with desserts that go by this name. Usually, this is a chocolate cookie crust with a light peanut butter pudding filling. What we received was a chocolate brownie crust topped with a layer of peanut butter frosting (confectioners sugar + peanut butter), a layer of chocolate syrup, and a few actual peanuts. The peanut butter frosting was much too sweet, there were not enough peanuts to create a crunchy counterpoint, and the chocolate brownie base was almost a crunchy counterpoint by itself because it was so dried out. It helped to eat bites of the pie with the vanilla ice cream next to it, but the manufacturer of this vanilla ice cream put barely any vanilla flavor in it. Our server kept our drink glasses full throughout the evening and answered our menu questions with honesty. Overall, I can see why Legend's has survived for nearly 60 years. I wish them all the best for many more decades as a leader in the Norman restaurant scene.
