Came here last night after having a weird craving for a hot dog. I eat hot dogs maybe once a year at a baseball game and since I didn't attend any baseball games this summer, I guess my body was telling me to just give it one. I used to love Classic 50's when I was in HS and hadn't been back in decades. I ordered the Chicago Style Hot Dog and decided to order a Theta Burger because I hadn't had one in decades either and I rarely see it on a menu anymore. Sadly, the Chicago dog was not that great, but OMG the Theta Burger which I couldn't even finish was the best thing I've had in years!! If I ever come back it will be for the Theta Burger. Overall good. We were recommended by a friend to stop here on our way to Dallas. The prices were a bit much for the quantity of food, especially for the potato boat. The shake was delicious! Place wasn't even half full, and I couldn't even get someone to answer the button. I even went to a different parking spot in case the menu / order button was messed up on my first one, but sat there for another few minutes and no one answered. Luckily there's a Sonic right across the street. They answered promptly, delivered my food, and let me get on with my day. I seriously dislike writing bar reviews but this one isn't good! My stomach hurts as I'm writing this from the cheese coney I got there earlier. It literally was like a bar s weiner ,on the cheapest bun they could find,the worst can chili they could find,old onions,and cheese. Did I mention it was barely warm?? Don't know how it stays in business. Workers are running around acting insane busy meanwhile there is only four cars. Didn't get the order right even though it was ordered loudly and clear as day. Food is burnt and re cooked. Fries and curly fries are never served hot and fresh or with a plentiful amount. Ordered a large and was given a small. This is why they will ultimately go out of business. They also have been doing this a while if you look at other reviewers. Could just give you hot fresh food that is appropriately sized based off how much the cost was. Don't wish them luck! read more

As a student 10+ years ago, I never tried Classic 50s. I had come back to Norman over the weekend and decided to try it. I figured if it was still in business all these years, that it should still be good right? Nope. I ordered a large Cajun Pickle-Os and a small pina colada slush. I was quite shocked by how the fried pickles looked and the small amount they gave for a large. I'm not sure if they gave me a regular size instead, but this was a large, then that's pretty disappointing and not worth the money. Not only did they not look good, they also didn't taste good. Some were burnt and they mostly tasted too greasy (like they were fried twice or more). The slush was good but was a little melted already. To be honest, I don't know if I will order any food from here again, but would try other slush flavors. read more

I got a bacon cheeseburger no tomato and added onions and pickles. It was so freaking delicious the meat was actually seasoned. The bun was a little soggy I'm assuming from the pickles but it was a small spot and I didn't mind it. The fries were hot and crispy. I've seen this place for years but we've never stopped. Apparently we have been missing out. Whenever I come to Norman I will definitely consider this place. My buddy was taking me around Oklahoma and showing me some of his favorite places he used to eat at in Oklahoma. We wound up here at Classic 50's drive-in. I got the bacon cheeseburger, crinkled cut fries and pickel-o's. The burger was flavorful and the bacon on my burger was crispy. Also enjoyed the batter they used on the pickel-o's. I would for sure stop by here again if ever in the area only next time would ask them for less ice in my drink. read more

I realize they are trying to compete with Sonic and they are a hometown business but I am disappointed with how they take their orders. I pulled up to a stall, pressed the button. It did not light up but I thought the stalls are in bad shape and I just figured the light didn't work. After 3 minutes, I pressed the button again. After another few minutes of silence, I assumed it just wasn't working. I pulled up to another stall, hoping this one was working. Again I had the same experience. I decided to call to see if the stalls were working. Finally someone answered the stall speaker. I stuck around because I am rooting for them as a long time Normanite. But I can imagine someone who wasn't would drive off. I would suggest posting signs that say, stall is working, we hear you, we will answer shortly. Or a quick, we'll be right with you. Otherwise your customers who aren't regulars and know the drill might assume they aren't in working order and move on. read more

Thanks for a burger with cheese that should have been cheese less, as well as the ton of mayo that made everything a sloppy mess. Also the baked potato that was supposed to be butter less. Silly of me to not check my order before I leave when you read everything back to me as requested. Also get some carbonation for the sugary sweet soda's. Prices have increased but not quality. Not only was the service slow and rude but the food was cold and to make matters worse there was a toothpick side ways in my burger it wasn't visible at all like how'd you would expect it to be only visible when I lifted the bun and oh don't try to call them because when I tried to after the toothpick situation they didn't answer probably the worst fast food experience I've ever had and not to mention I bit into the tooth pick which you can kind of see and it wasn't pleasant definitely not worth the money read more

Went last night for the first time and was thoroughly impressed. I had gotten a hotdog, cheeseburger, and oreo burst which were all delicious! I was especially surprised by just how tasty the burger was. Only problems were the service was slow and I had no chili on my chili and cheese dog, small problems that mean nothing when it comes to the taste! I'll definitely be coming back. Everything, especially the physical menu, really captured that "classic 50" ambiance, the prices weren't half bad either, I would definitely recommend trying this place out! read more

Burgers have been great every time I've been, service has always been acceptable, usually pretty quick with the order, lots of people hate on this place, but if you want a good old style burger it's the place to go, just taste like back in the day, I love this place and go often! read more

This place is adorable! My daughters new sorority sisters recommended this place to her. This place is known for their sprittles which is delicious! However, once we where here I decided to try their coney dog, fried pickles, jalapeño bites, burger and fries, and hot fudge sundaes! The draw to this place is the 1950's atmosphere! They have a little patio with tables and misters to keep you cool and It really is cute. But that's where it stops for me. The food was dry, the hot fudge sundae only had fudge around the edge of the cup and the limeade was blah. I really wanted to have a better experience . I'm sure we will try again though. Hamburger bun was cold. Not room temperature cold, refrigerator cold. The onion rings were horrible, I had to send them back. Whoever cut the onions didn't bother to remove the brown outer skin. I tried this place a few months ago and it wasn't anything I'd rave about. I tried it again today and was very unimpressed. I got the chicken box, chicken was insanely dry to where it cut the moisture of ranch and gravy was weirdly chunky. My sister got a potato boat and found a short hair in it. Was told by everyone we had to stop by and try this little place out. Loved the old school feel and how friendly the staff was. You cant find places like this in Seattle or pretty much any where in the US. I'll give the food a 3 out of 5 but visiting was every bit worth it and reliving such an awesome era made me so happy !! This place used to be so good, stopped by for a quick dinner and our buns were burnt to a crisp on our burgers, one burger was missing the extra piece of cheese like we ordered, one burger had onions even though we ordered without, the large Cajun fries were filled up less than half way. This experience was less than a 1 star in my book. Probably will not return - 7:30 on a Friday night, they weren't even busy. Not sure why our order was less than perfect. read more

Learned about this place from a friend, was excited about trying it out. Was not impressed at all. Classic name and drive in but that's where the classic stops. The car hop was friendly. The menu offers plenty of options. However the food was not seasoned at all. A little salt and pepper goes a long ways. My husband's hamburger was mediocre and Cajun fries were flavorless. I had the Fantasy potato boat and broccoli cheddar bites. My potatoes were hot but no seasoning , the meat was tasteless and the bites were decent but nothing special. let's talk about this whole situation the only thing good about this meal was the darn sprittle. the service sucked it took forever to receive cold burnt food. I asked for ranch and she said it would be charged extra. I asked her even when purchasing a chicken basket meal? she said you could sub the gravy. I told her no thanks just charge me. she comes the car and the bag is stapled shut I asked her if the ranch was in the bag she said yes. I looked and it was not in there. she said it is prob at the bottom. then walked off. I continued to look for the ranch by taking everything out of the bag. surprise!! no ranch! I buzzed the button and told her it was not in there she bring me out ranch that has barely anything in it. not even full. I buzzed again and told them I'm sorry but there is nothing really in here. the girl comes back out and I tried to show her the cup she said whatever just give it to me took the cup back rolled her eyes and walked away. I work hard for my money just like you do. and you failed to put something I paid for in the bag in the first place. when I asked for what I paid for you bring something out that wasnt even enough ranch to eat any thing dipped into it. when something was said again you don't even apologize but roll your eyes and storm off. to top it off when I got home the corn dog was so burnt it had a black burn hole marks from the batter over cooking. not impressed. will never be back due to service and over priced cold food! don't waste your time or money. spent 30 dollars when I could have gotten better service at sonic or del rancho. the quality of the food would have been a lot better as well read more

As a 12yr old kid in the early 90's, I used to love going to Classic 50's. It was one of the few places I could eat with my food allergies since they offered potato boats and fried in peanut oil instead of soybean oil. Maybe more nostalgia but I will always be grateful for Classic 50's giving me a place to go where I could order right off the menu and eat fries like everyone else. I still go back and enjoy my same order every time I can. Love boat, krinkle fries, and the crimson and cream slush. :) read more
