Don't mess with a classic. This bowling alley is a clean iteration of the alleys you bowled in childhood. The lanes are updated ( though it took us a while to figure out how to put names on the scoreboard). They are sticklers though. Once you make an reservation it can't be altered. I called and asked if they could add additional time to our reservation and they said yes. When we arrived they said no, that the lanes had to be cleaned. Then they told us we could keep bowling because we were at the last lane. But they shut us down though, and didn't let us continue. It's clean, it's fun. Not many available times though, because they have leagues, and schools. DO NOT BRING IN FOOD. Boba Burger is delightful though. read more

Great atmosphere, friendly staff and clean facility over all. Highly recommend you visit. They have open bowling and leagues available. I've been bowling here for 15+ years and enjoy it. Best part is the bar and gaming area. The bartender Deirdre "Dee" is very friendly and makes great drinks besides the usual cocktails. I haven't gone bowling in well over a decade, possibly even two. Dropping in here though to take advantage of their weekday senior rate was a blast. And it was about time to just see what bowling felt like again. Classic Bowl has been around for a long time and is a well maintained and well deserved popular 38-lane bowling venue in this area. I know of a couple of guys that bowl regularly in leagues here and they speak highly of the venue. The weekday senior rate (age 65+) is $4.50 per game from 9am - 5pm Mon -Fri. The regular game rate is $6.50. There are no practice throws, and every extra frame will cost you $0.75 per frame. I checked out all the rules as it's been a long time for me. Rina was the friendly and informative staffer at the desk and she is well known to the regulars and vice versa here. Eons ago I bowled in a work league and we practically bowled 1/2 game just as free practice, but none of that now! The wife and I found out our 48 year old balls still work and knock pins over lol! That is, when they are aimed properly! No more scorekeeping either (and I know that dates me) as you just punch in the bowlers' lineup on the keypad and go. I've been a long-time customer at Classic Bowl, and I'm honestly disappointed with how things were handled recently. When my belongings went missing in a locker I rent there was no recognition, no urgency, and no compensation with absolutely no consideration from the staff when there missing items that anyone can access through a universal locker key in which anyone from outside can access and enter and open any locker with just 1 key. The locker is open and had a camera that doesn't work (from what I was told ) . For someone who has supported this place for years, I expected at least a little accountability or an attempt to make things right. Instead, I was met with zero compensation, no apology, and no effort to help resolve the situation. It's frustrating and really unprofessional( Regional Manager) who disconnected from our call evading any answers or explanations concerning his business practices . I'm genuinely reconsidering coming back after this experience. Classic Bowling needs to do better--especially for loyal customers. #FEELINGUNAOPRECIATED#NOCONSIDERATION!!!!! read more

Thanks to the gentleman at the front desk for making my grandson's first bowling experience great! My husband and I hadn't been to a bowling alley in over 30 years. He clearly explained entering names on the score keeper and asked my grandson if he would like a green or blue ball. Obviously we used bumpers for him and for 3 frames he was doing pretty good! Then the gentleman brought over the green dinosaur thingy to help him with the ball. Grandpa actually lost! Thank you for such positive attitude and energy! What a horrible experience. Went bowling with my family. Lane stopped working after 20 minutes, waited 15 minutes, got moved to the next lane. We were informed by Paul that we would receive an extra 15 minutes to make up for the time lost. Finished our game and started the next one with about 15 minutes left plus the extra time that was promised. Paul returned, loudly stating that our time was up and we're in another reservation's lane - saying "I got these people yelling at the front desk complaining their lane is taken" (in front of said people). Basically telling us to get out of the lane immediately. We were in the lane that he chose, he moved us to; it's not our fault he selected a lane with a reservation that overlapped...that's not our responsibility to manage. I told him we still had our reservation time and he didn't need to yell at my family and embarrass us. We assumed we were coming to a legitimate bowling alley with professional staff and where our patronage would be valued. Paul talked over us and said that he worked there forever. It was such an uncomfortable experience that the customers whose reservation we overlapped with came up to us to apologize for what happened. They were also shocked. Paul must have remembered he moved us and gave extra time because he quickly changed his tune....saying that it was another team member's fault at the front desk and he's willing to give us 30 minutes, then he said 40 minutes (disregarding we already had 30 minutes we PAID for). We moved lanes for a THIRD time. Realizing how ridiculous this treatment was, we decided to leave before our time was up. My family didn't want to stay there another minute. If you're looking for a place to spend money and have your family (our child was with us) yelled at in front of other customers for no fault of your own, Classic Bowl is the perfect place for a continuously disrupted and unforgettable bowling experience where you'll leave feeling completely disrespected. I have been on a league in this house for 15+ years, and I have to say that the regulation of the temperature this season has been poor. It is been too warm and my bowling ball ends up sticking on my hand to the extent that my thumb slug pulled out. I have asked for the fans to be turned up, but it just circulates warm air. I've been bowling here for years and the staff are super awesome. Jonathan, Ashley, Yolanda, Dee, Paul, and the Boba Crew have been doing a great job making the alley feel welcoming and a place for you to want to keep coming back everyday when there's nothing fun to do. They have options for you to do like leagues and tournaments throughout the whole year which you will meet new folks and make new friends on the long run. Classic Bowl is a really cool bowling alley that is so big it almost reminds me of your grandfather. Ahem. Lots of cute people bowling here including an Asian muscle guy that was rivaling me for how show offy and superficial he was. Date nite with my boo was really chill here. We basically had the whole place to ourself. My boo knew that this place is not really going to have many visitors during the summer months. The staff was very friendly and we had many laughs with them. They do have a full bar. Spirits are about $6 or so. We appreciated being about to have a reasonable selection of hard liquor to choose from. Otherwise, they have your classics beer. I am not sure if they serve food. I don't recall seeing food sales. We played 3 games which there was a special with show rental. Our shoes were new, so that was cool. We really enjoyed ourselves. If you come at the end of the night, I recommend coming in one hour before closing time. They did turn couples away around 45 minutes before closing. On this weeknight, they were not open till midnight. It's not the newest place, but you can tell it has a story and a lot of love within this alley. Give it a try! read more

My family has been coming here for years for many various events, but the service and prices continue to go downhill each time. This past weekend's trip will likely be our last. We had a group of 12 and had reserved 3 lanes in advance for 1 hour 12:15-1:15pm. We decided we'd like to continue playing, and prior to the 1 hour being up inquired if that would be possible (the alley was pretty empty at this point still). We were immediately told that this would not be possible as there were parties and leagues coming in. One of the most maddening things is that our lanes shut off at 1:13pm, a few minutes early, with only one person having ONE ball left to throw to complete the game. Unbelievable. Our group stuck around for almost 1.5 hour longer, as we were finishing up drinks and talking. In this time, not one league had showed up yet and the birthday party was already occupied at the end of the alley. We 100% could have completed a full hour of bowling, but we were told that they had to oil the lanes before leagues began. However, the oiling did not begin until approximately 2:30pm. Something similar to this has happened to us in the past. We will have to find a new bowling alley to enjoy! read more

Cushy benches with bag/shoe understorage, custom cup holders built into the booths, greasy lanes, TVs to watch sports/news, two bars, food venue onsite, convenient bathroom locations. It's pretty close to heaven Nothing but leaguers. Parking lot can be tight, getting in off Waukegan is a breeze but turning left getting out can take awhile. Getting a warm up or pre-bowl session in at this venue can be challenging due to it being mostly a league house, not many off nights to work with. Drink specials all week long. The man working the desk/cashier was rude. We paid for our lane and got set up. Tried to get bumpers for the two young kids with us and he refused. Said it was for kids 8 years and younger - did not even ask how old the kids were by the way. One of them had literally turned 9 just a week ago so it's not like he looked older. He's still very young and small. I understand policies exist - but this is a discriminatory policy. Age should not be a limit on bumpers at a bowling alley. There are several reasons someone may need bumpers regardless of their age, such as a disability or handicap that may affect a person's strength or coordination. This kid clearly bowled so much worse without the bumpers - all gutter balls for 3 frames. He was crying and emotional. He just wanted to have fun but knows he struggles to hold the ball and needed bumpers to help guide him. He tried so hard, nearly dropping the ball on himself or throwing it out of the lane for 3 frames before they finally put on the bumpers for him clearly noticing he needed them. When policies are in place - I typically do not question them because I know there are reasons for them. However, I hope this one is amended because all customers deserve to have an enjoyable game of bowling regardless of their physical ability to properly play. read more

Classic Bowl is a standard old school bowling alley. The lanes are all automatic and computerized, but it isn't the high tech experience you will get at some of the newer places. The alleys are all clean and well maintained. The staff was friendly and we didn't have any issues during our games. The few times I have been here it hasn't been too crowded and we easily were able to play. Games were pretty cheap during the day - around $5 each if I remember correctly. There is a huge parking lot and there has always been open spots when I drive by. The main reason to come here isn't bowling. It is the delicious food at Boba Burger. They make some awesome Asian-burger fusions! You can come here and eat your food as you bowl - a wonderful combo! read more

Unlimited bowling after 9 pm for around 10$ a person? Count me in! Came here last Thursday night with a group of 8 and had a great time. I am by no means an excellent bowler, but I do enjoy playing a few rounds with friends and having a few beers, and Classic Bowl was the perfect spot to do just that! Located a bit outside the city, it took around 25 minutes to get there (no traffic) from the South Loop. The interior is dated, but well kept and cleaned! And everyone who worked there who I interacted with was super nice and pleasant, despite it being so crowded. The place was packed this particular evening, and there was a bit of a wait for two lanes, but we didn't mind waiting. Drinks at the bar we're average price, 12$ for a pitcher of domestic drafts seemed fair! We played till about 1am, and although my high score was only 120, we all had an amazing time and I can't wait to come back here again! read more
