Ask the Community - Classic Cake Decorations

Do you sell Americolor?

Hi Valerie - we do sell Americolor. Should be on our new site as well. Happy Baking!

Do you sell premade buttercream?

Do you mean buttercream frosting? If so yes.

Do you carry edible gold leaf?

Hi Emalee - unfortunately we can seem to find any suppliers that carry edible gold leaf so unfortunately we don’t have any. Good luck on your search.

Do you carry guittard chocolate A'peels?

Sorry Sensi, but we do not. :(

Just want to make sure the new location is open .?

We sure are. Opened on November 5th. If you’ve ever been to our old location you’ll see a completely different store.

Are you open tomorrow for Memorial Day?

Sorry Bree but we are not.

TAWDI appeared highly rated, but it was also basically the only choice. Walking in to Mickey Mouse greeting you, it's a very homely, organized, and oddly empty shop with some Middle Eastern influence. They are big on marketing for their Dubai chocolate offerings, which I did try. The lady who helped was very kind, offering us each a sample by the chocolate type we liked. As she explained how they make chocolate in the back daily, I had to inquire about popular selections and what some flavors were. Basically, they seem to focus on Dubai chocolates and have some imported goods from Lebanon. While I trust that they make chocolates daily, I have to question how much, what flavors, and what is being turned over, because the sample I ate and the chocolates I opened up later certainly had obvious chocolate bloom, and yes they were stored at an appropriate temperature and eaten on the same day. At the price these pieces were, they certainly shouldn't have chocolate bloom nor taste like old chocolate. The filling of their Dubai bar was nice, crunchy, and moist, but the exterior chocolate shell didn't really have a taste. I am fine with paying a premium for premium-tasting chocolate and often do it, but I would have preferred eating grocery store chocolate, honestly. I'm not sure what others are tasting or whether people reviewing TAWDI are actually into chocolate, but I was disappointed when I didn't enjoy these.

There was one table inside only, but you can sit outside since it's really nice at the OC Mix. They have a delicious chicken pesto sandwich, and I also loved the coeur chocolat framboise. I spotted Moulin and, having enjoyed a few of their other locations, decided to grab some coffee and a pastry. The staff were pleasant and efficient. I ordered a café au lait and chose an apple tart to go along with it. I think there was a table inside but a lot of tables outside in a courtyard area, some specifically designated for Moulin customers. There is a window behind the front counter which allows a peek into the kitchen where the pastry chefs are at work. The coffee was smooth and made with a good roast; there was plenty of foam on top and it was immediately drinkable. The tart was fantastic. A perfect crust with delicious thin-sliced apples in a yummy goo underneath (not sure what the flavor was but I loved it). The sweetness was spot on - somewhere between "Asian sweet" and "American sweet". The "sweet spot" of sweetness. This location of Moulin, like all the others, is sure to please you. Thanks to Yelper Amy B. for alerting me to this location of the Moulin chain.

The emoji breads tempted us with their cuteness, but we were very curious about the Oyaki Mentai Caviar's combination of spicy cod roe and mochi. To be safe, we also got the Mentai Salt & Butter Roll. While we liked the Roll and its crunchy outside/soft inside, we actually loved the Oyaki. The mochi isn't sweet at all, just nicely chewy. Plus, whereas the Roll only had a little bit of spicy cod roe inside, the Oyaki was packed! I say this a lot, but truly, everything looked good. I hope to come back and try their Paninis and Danishes. If they're anything like the Oyaki, they'll be distinct, delicious, and downright delightful.

Too greasy, weird aftertastes, terrible terrible heartburn and upset stomach after... And with these, I didn't experience any of that(a little burpy after, but I mean, it's donuts... The Nutella Malasada was full of Nutella and it was actually my first time trying a malasada... bomb! The cookies and creme mochi was a nice surprise too. The cream was actually very flavorful and not just like a plain creme with Oreos thrown in like I've often seen. I'm sure all of the donuts would be really good here. Churro was super hard and stale, salted caramel literally tasted like nothing, blueberry tasted like sweet artificial fruit, carrot cake with cream cheese frosting was the best one.
