Last time I came into this amazing place I made the mistake of not trying their pup cupcakes! It was my dogs birthday so I made the drive from Long Beach to HB. Because 1- My dog is worth it. And 2- they have the best human cupcakes I've ever had lol When I walked in I was immediately greeted by the owner who is so incredibly sweet. She remembered me and greeted me like she's known me for years. They had a 4 pack of pup cakes already packed up. So I grabbed those and told her it was my dogs birthday. Don't forget to ask her if she has a free candle or birthday topper available! She usually has a bunch behind the counter she hands out. She gave me a candle (I got to pick out the color) and I got a little tiny happy birthday topper to put in the pup cake PS- the pup cupcakes smell absolutely delicious! The peanut butter frosting smells out of this world. I almost took a bite. As always, this place is extremely clean Staff is great! Parking is great! Flavors to pick from are great They have a huge variety. I'm so bummed I got there too late and missed out on their coconut cupcake and they had a pistachio one!! (Her flavors are always the best and always changing) So I had to go with my old trusty. I got a wedding cake one and a birthday confetti one. Again, these cupcakes are HUGE. They have the perfect amount of frosting vs cake ratio, they are not dry at all!!! Hands down the best in Orange County I got sucked in. She can make any of her cupcake flavors into a donut. So I tried the strawberry donut (inspired by her strawberry cupcake) the donuts are all in the back and not on display like the cupcakes are It's the best of both worlds The donut was light and fresh. It tasted like a Krispy Kreme but with the delicious frosting of a cupcake. This is on the sweeter side, for me? Sweeter the better. But might be too sweet for others. I can't wait to come back here for all my cupcake and cake needs in the future!!! I was just starting to search where to find some nice cupcakes for my hubby's birthday when I saw Laurel T's review for Smallcakes. It was just what I had in mind- to get a variety of a dozen and have one be the birthday cake. I called to place an order in advance and Kaitlyn told me I could just go into the store and pick the ones I want. I wasn't sure if she would have that many selections upon entering the store but she did! They offered awesome deals. If you buy a dozen for $62, you'd get two extra complimentary cupcakes and I got an extra pupcake for purchasing 2 at $1.99 each! [[HIGHLIGHT]]I appreciated that Laurel noted this place is dog friendly. I had Ocean with me and Kaitlyn was so welcoming and sweet to her. She gave me a small tray to serve Ocean a pupcake with and Ocean inhaled it in one bite![[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] I also didn't realize the paper was still on it. Whoops! Ocean did not seem to mind and loved the carrot cake and peanut butter frosting. They are baked daily so it's recommended that they be refrigerated if you'd like to keep them for a few days. Cupcake Tour - stop two The woman who works here is SO NICE, I gave an extra star. I loved all the cute signs, all of the cupcakes looked lucious and imaginative. We chose the Chocolate Caramel Drum ($4.75 for Signature Cupcake) and the Pink Creme Brulee ($5.25 for Specialty Cupcake). Chocolate Carmel Drum is supposed to be a play on an icecream Drumstick, which my husband and I love. But this didn't really taste like that. It was very good though, moist and chocolatey. We really liked the texture of the cupcakes here. The Pink Creme Brulee was a monthly specialty cupcake, For us the frosting was way too sweet and sugary.
