I called AAA who sent someone out from fort Bragg but his knowledge was limited to trying to jump start the battery. I thanked him but asked around and was directed to Schlafer's which is right in town. I spoke to Judy, and she sent Ricky Santos who was there within 2 minutes, tried several ways of getting the car started and we agreed that it was a bad starter and it needed to go to the shop. He was able to unlock the wheel. We pushed the car out into the parking lot. He pushed it to the end of the parking lot while I drove it, and I cruised down the hill to the shop. That was maybe 1:00. At 4:00 p.m. I got a call from Mike in the shop saying the car was ready. I had already asked around to my husband, and some shops here in Los Osos where I live, and they said the total bill including parts and labor should be around $600 to 675. I picked my car up and paid $665. The car has run perfectly since. I feel that they made a real effort to be helpful and to move quickly on behalf of two old ladies camping in a van out of town. It was a very smooth experience, and they were all so helpful and went out of their way.

A few days later, I looked and the detailing/body kit of my car, where they needed to pull to replace the light, isn't even installed back properly & could have easily lost these expensive pieces. I brought my car in for another service of a different type the same day I noticed, to another shop in Ukiah. I asked if they could look at it and pop it back into place for me. I was worried I'd loose my body kit, and that the light wasn't in correctly. They explained to me that it wasn't installed properly & that my wires were hanging/dragging & exposed, causing me to have to replace that due to Gordon's not installing the replacement bulb correctly. He informed me that unfortunately he didn't have time to do an alternator swap that day as he had a full day of cars to finish up. He happily agreed to hook my battery up to the charger so I could get to the next shop. We were able to make our bike rail skunk train ride while the battery was charging at the shop. When we got back, he informed us that he went ahead and looked around and found our alternator wire had fallen off and that we were good to go. he also tightened up our alternator belt as he found it to be loose. I give this Shop 11 stars. Ryland is a generous soul.
