I took two cars to Mike that had been scratched up by sidewalk chalk pretty badly. One was a newer SUV and the other one was an old sedan. He was very good with laying down expectations of what could and could not be done to restore the cars (which he exceeded, but we will come to that later). The newer Highlander had scratches and artwork from sidewalk chalk all over with significant damage. Mike worked his magic and restored it in a day (and was even gracious about me nervously checking up on his progress through the day). The car came back looking shiny and bright with no signs of the vandalism it had endured. 10/10. The second car was an old black sedan and while I didn't have much hope for it, Mike managed to get the chalk scratches out from that one as well. He also cleaned the headlights (which was a nice bonus and not part of the job). He was very professional throughout the process and gave me a good price for both the cars. I highly recommend Mike for his work on my 1970 Porsche 914. The car was new to me and had a fair amount of rust on the floorpans and engine compartment and needed the battery tray installed . This was a tricky project as the old rust had to get cut out and new floorpan patches welded in, while avoiding fuel lines and various cables under the car and working in the cramped space of a mid-engine classic. Mike's work was fantastic and his attention to detail was greatly appreciated, including adding fixes discovered during the process. He is very knowledgeable on classic cars and put a lot of thought into our project. Mike was good about sending pictures along the way and keeping me updated on progress. He was very communicative when we picked up the vehicle, showing us pictures of every aspect of the repair. Awesome service! I brought Mike a unique job (a vintage crane/hoist, so not even a car) sent pictures, we emailed back and forth a bit discussing the restoration options, then he gave me a quote. It took about a month before we were able to get it in because he had other projects lined up. He kept me updated during the process with pictures at different stages. Wow! I've never been yelled at big a grown man who sounded like a grade school boy who got his video games taken. (The shop owner Mike.)I called this shop a week ago everything went well, he asked me to get my repairs approved before getting my car towed to his shop. Understood. I spend 45mins with Statefarm arranging it all and they even offered to call Mike and tow my car to Concord. I thought great its all working out. When I call the shop unbeknownst to me Mike was trying to reschedule my tow w/statefarm. I call to update and get immediately screamed at. Ridiculously unprofessional and childlike, I never raised my voice & continued to ask him why he's yelling at me. Which was followed by "im not gonna bend over backwards for you!!","what the hell does that mean!!", "where the hell am I gonna put your car!!", whatever just bring your car, I'll stick it somewhere " ect. I been wanting to do a review on this shop for awhile now he was a jerk...... I had him do work on my chevelle awhile ago to install my all new suspension with "body work" that he says he could do. sent my chevelle to him going off the reviews online . We made a deal he would fix my floor pan rust put it to bare metal and fix my inner fender well rust and put on my suspension on. He put my suspension on wrong. He fixed rust with a plate of metal and screwed it in with some type of glue wtf???? I took my chevelle out his shop asap after seeing that and he did. He didn't care about his work. He wouldn't let my car go without paying it of. If I knew what I know now I would of took him to court. what I paid for was pretty much suspension put it on wrong and a patch of metal screwed on with glue to fix rust .... wouldn't recommended this shop if I could i would put 0 star.... read more

I found Classic Restoration online. Called and spoke with Mike, told him I needed a hinge stopper replaced on my 1940 Ford. He said to bring it by. I did, he looked at it and said no problem, gave me an estimate. We agreed on the price and he did the work. I also had him installed a couple of new outside mirrors and adjust the door handles. If I had to create a list of what I would want in a mechanic/classic car guy/girl, they would need to be: Knowledgeable Responsive (Communication) Fair (pricing) Mike went well beyond all three of those, not only giving me an upfront estimate for the work I described, but also gave me updates throughout, completed all in some seriously short time, went over all the work he did once I arrived and gave me back all my old parts (car people will understand the importance). Additionally easy was the well thought invoice which contained all the work to be done and allowed me to pay for it then (which I did - others may wait to see the work, but trust me, you will be pleased), so picking up the truck was a snap. Requested quotes at several local body shops to get some wheels refinished. Prices and timelines were astronomical! Then a friend suggested Mike at Classic Restoration of CA and I called him. Explained what I wanted done, sent him a picture of the current condition, agreed on an extremely fair price and dropped off the wheels. These are all great reviews, and I was under the assumption that Mike and his guys were going to do sheetmetal work on my car. Everything was going fine until I showed him pictures of the car a (66 Mustang). Then all of the sudden it was "We don't have time" "Its going to cost 12,000.00 to do the work. For that price I can get a brand new Dynacorn complete body. This is the same problem with most Bay Area bodyshops, they want easy work for easy money. Not what I was expecting! Place looks legit. Nice cars inside, but the skinny guy is full of bs. I had him repair the rust in the floor of my impala and it was done horribly. He welded the new piece over the existing and if u look under the car you can definitely see it overlapping! He also tried to sell me extra stuff that I wasn't interested in at an outrageous price!
