Pink Flower is a great place to get your Vietnamese food fix! They have lunch specials so you can dine for less and don't get a huge portion. They have online ordering which makes it easy to run and pick up your food. Today I tried the beef pho and spring rolls. The pho is pretty good, I wouldn't say its the best that I've had. My husband and I always see this place because we go to Aldi. We decided to check it out since it's pretty close to home. We went on a Friday night for dinner and the place was pretty empty. We got sat right away by the friendly wait staff. There's not much ambiance to this place. Food wasn't great but it wasn't terrible. My son was told of a yummy Vietnamese restaurant we should try out, so that's what we did tonight. The restaurant had a lot of seating and a not a lot of ambiance. The service was good though. Their menu is huge, offering at least 100 items, with a nice description of eat item. The Egg Roll was a 2 star egg roll though. We have had so many egg rolls this year that trump these. The rest of the appetizers were also 2 star. My son really liked his Beef Curry. I normally don't like curry much, but also thought his dish was much better than mine. I had the Kung Pao Beef, which the presentation alone was off putting. It tasted ok though, but nothing that I will order again. Ordered pick up. Counter help could not initially find the order although it was sitting in front of them. Ordered Vegtable Egg Foo young. Imagine my surprise that it was just a take out container of vegetables, not the typical patty style. That was a disappointment. Food came in separate containers which did not allow me too combine my rice and chicken. The whole experience was different and disappointing. The only way to get good service is if you're a regular. The egg rolls are great. Kung pao chicken was good. Chicken pho was good. So with that being said I probably won't ever dine in again. The one waitress working seemed nice but was kind of cold to us. I asked for fried rice in substitute for white and I got yellow rice. She said that's what you get when you sub it for the white rice. I wouldn't order the fried rice again. Very plain and not worth the up-charge. The atmosphere was eerily quiet and the chairs were very uncomfortable. The tables are also lower then expected. There aren't really any decorations other than two hanging fish in the entrance and a small wind chime by the door. Overall, not super welcoming. read more

Stumble across this restaurant...when I was in the area (New Brighton) for my cat's Vet appointment and we had a considerable amount to wait in the car after they took her for the appointment and it was dinner time! We drove one block down the street and found this restaurant, open for takeout only since it is Pandemic times. It's located inside a mall though and plenty of bench seating inside so we enjoyed dinner there. Vietnamese food is all the rage right now, healthy, hearty and easy, even on picky people, since we have some authentic options here in Minnesota I decided to give it a try. The soups are usually beyond compare, but its hard to go wrong, it's just sort of "better" than the other options. Vietnamese cuisine is highly influenced by French colonization and their quality and savor shows this. The easiest go to is a bowl of Vietnamese soup (phö) there is a basic chicken or meat version and a traditional broth home made and secret to each family that's better than any soup you have ever had. Served with some loose basil, and some lime and sprouts on the side, you feel warm and filled and like you can survive a another double shift. There is some sauces too, highly personalizable flavors, but basically perfected already so you don't have to worry about it. During Covid it is so important to try to find something interesting to do, and something inspiring to eat. For me sometimes trying new things is the way and the places that have the food that we need are the most under threat. I was lucky enough to be passing by Pink Flower and noticed the tell tale signs of a place with perfected and underpriced Phö and and immediately jumped at it, googled, called found they were still open and got a to-go order. In their shopping mall, Pink Flower stands out like a diamond in the rough. WIth their own entrance, its such a nice place. The family that run the restaurant are really pleasant and helpful for those who are unfamiliar with their offerings. I honestly recommend eating here, for a number of philosophical reasons but fundamentally this is one, darn good bowl of soup. Check it out. It had to be said. read more

What a nice lil place, was really busy with to go orders! The staff was very pleasant and polite. I got Pho and it was yummy! The broth was some of the BEST I have ever had! the noodles were a fair portion and the shrimp and squid were good. I was a lil bummed that I got only 3 shrimp (medium sized at best) and 3 scallops (small) but they were very yummy! I have a VERY good Vietnamese place here in Duluth - Phoholic! and I measure all other places against them.. This place came in a close second and I would recommend it if you in the area. Prices were pretty good for the value and the service was top notch, the owner came over and chatted with us and was very nice! I will be back as I go to the Twin Cities fairly often! read more

A good friend of mine who moved to Las Vegas was in town and loves pink flower. With him being back of course we had to go to one of his favorite places to eat and this surprisingly was my first time being there. The reason why I'm giving this a three star review is because the five other people with me all enjoyed their meals. Unfortunately I didn't enjoy mine as much as they did. I ordered the C5, sweet-and-sour chicken with a side of fried rice. The outer layer of the chicken was very thick and a little chewy with a small piece of chicken inside, and the sweet-and-sour sauce tasted a little off to me. It wasn't terrific first experience for me as I couldn't finish the chicken. The fried rice on the side was very plain and needed a good amount of soy sauce to have some flavor. I'm not gonna knock it though I'll definitely be back in the future. The staff and owners were very friendly and the service was fast and great. The menu is very large so I'm sure there's going to be quite a few items that I will be able to enjoy when I go back. I would recommend trying this location if ever in Moundsview Minnesota bring a friend or two! Maybe don't try the C5 :) read more

I went here with some coworkers for lunch the other day. It was average. My coworkers hyped up the egg rolls which I would say were quite good. The pho was average. Nothing special about it, broth didn't have much flavor. I feel for the price you pay the bowl wasn't that great of a deal. There are many other pho places around that give you better sizes for your money's worth. I would say skip the pho. The lunch specials or combination meals seem like your best bet. I'm going to start with the good, the Eggrolls are always the best of the best! Now to the bad. I've coming here for years and the food has progressively gotten worse. For example, the spring rolls tonight consisted of nothing but vermicelli noodles, shrimp and lettuce that was way past its prime. No thai basil, mint, cilantro or pork, plus I bit into something gelatinous and that was it for me. Waste of money. Now onto the egg roll Bun. Again with a mountain of vermicelli and the aforementioned bad lettuce. No cucumber or mint. I met my parents here for dinner before seeing a movie at Wynnsong theater close by. It's an overall average place for Vietnamese and American Chinese dishes. We were the only table and only after we had started eating some more people trickled in for dine in and take out orders. I ordered the Curry Beef- it was decent, good spice, beef was tender and onions had a nice crunch. The other dishes ordered were a #7 combo (sweet and sour chicken with egg rolls, chicken wings, cheese puffs), Mock Duck and Potatoes, and a Seafood Pho. They accidentally made us a Vegetable Pho instead... My dad was gracious enough to eat it anyway so as not to waste food and we let the server know so she wouldn't charge us for the Seafood pho instead. The mock duck tasted tinny like it was straight out of the can and hadn't been rinsed with water. Otherwise the potatoes and sauce were tasty, it would be better if we ordered the dish with beef. The pho broth was ok. If I came here again I would stick to the Vietnamese part of the menu, the items in the combo were edible but that's about it. The server was friendly and very apologetic about the pho mix up. Unfortunately neither of the 2 workers there came by once to refill our empty water glasses. We have now become regulars ordering at least weekly and it is my youngest sons all time favorite place to order takeout from. The staff has always greeted us in a friendly manner even before we became regulars. My favorite items on the menu are the egg rolls, they are better than their competitors, and the Vietnamese style chicken chow mein; I love the tiny crunchy noodles and all of the vegetables with the traditional chow mein taste. The food and service has been inconsistent (highs and lows), but I guess the fact that I keep coming back means "I'm a fan", right? (I guess.) One time I came in and was not checked on once after I received my meal, and eventually had to flag down someone to get my check. PS there was only 1 other patron in there. Food: I usually go in for their pho (rice noodles) or mi (egg noodles). They have 6 varieties of pho, and you get a big ass bowl for $7! I've had no complaints, it's pretty good. My boyfriend is through-the-roof for their sesame chicken - it's crispy on the outside and soft on the inside, and the sauce isn't too tacky like most. The egg rolls are pretty good too! However, I am always full of regret when I order the spring rolls. I've tried both of them and they left me in a sad spring roll stupor - they're mostly vermicelli noodles and iceberg lettuce, and the protein is very dry and doesn't taste fresh. One time I didn't even want to continue eating my serving, which is something I am NOT known to do. We stopped in for dinner and had our choice of seating. Only two other tables were occupied. The staff were friendly and brought us water and menus within a few seconds of us being seated. We had takeout from this place in the past and dined in once before. My husband likes their pho. My son and I ordered Kung pow chicken and our other son ordered the sweet and sour chicken. We also had appetizers of egg rolls and cream cheese wontons. The appetizers were just ok. Not a whole lot of flavor in the egg rolls and the cream cheese wontons were really sweet and probably didn't need the dipping sauce which was a gelatinous syrupy mixture. My sons sweet and sour chicken was breaded deep fried chicken doused with the same dipping sauce as the cream cheese wontons. It also didn't come with any vegetables but came with yellow rice. Our Kung pow chicken had a ton of peanuts and diced water chestnuts. The flavor was ok and the spice level was good. I ordered it hot spice. My husband likes their pho. I think they could give a bit more broth in the pho. Their prices are great. Average is about $7. Their takeout business is a constant revolving door. Tons of people coming in for that. However, there are so many other places we think the food is better. I don't think we will be back here because we have tried three times and just don't think the food is worth it. read more

I love any kind of SE Asian food, and good Vietnamese usually tops my list. This place is not the first place i would go to, but I work in the area, have limited delivery options, and I 'm not a fan of the fast food options in the area. So, this little family owned restaurant in a nondescript strip mall off highway 10 is the only Vietnamese/Asian Style restaurant in the immediate area. The decor is pretty typical of a small space, multi-person seated Asian restaurant, and the place is usually pretty clean and kept up well. I have had most everything on the menu, and although my order is usually prepared fresh and quickly, the food is pretty flavorless and bland on its own. The spring rolls are bland with no mint flavor, the peanut sauce is ok - needs more peanut flavor and more salt. The Rice noodle dishes I have had, including the Pho, have been bland, and with the exception of the egg rolls and the hot and sour soup, the food in general, although tasty enough I wouldn't turn it away, leaves me longing for the flavors I experience at other restaurants closer to Minneapolis.
