NEVER AGAIN! Here's why.. While waiting for our table at one of our used to be regularly visited fave North Fork Restaurants.... We walked far away from where the other fellow guests had been eating. We decided to smoke a cigarette, since we had 25 minutes to spare. As we were smoking, keeping to ourselves and completely away from others one of the Clearly judgmental Claudios employees aka Karen, insisted on aggressively approaching. Screaming at us to leave, we instantly started to move away when she continued to scream and harass us and then go as far to call another employee over for backup -now, teaming up on us- and one would wonder why the extreme measures? We were blindsided. Was one having a bad day or was one simply judgmental and homophobic? It was quite odd she walked past myself first, the older woman also smoking a cigarette, and went directly to my younger brother? The woman was in a blue and white light pinstripe button down shirt with a Claudios logo, short brown hair with glasses. Whether she was associated with Claudios Restaurant or Claudios waterfront etc etc i hope Claudios can rectify such a situation. The years of love and memories and fun at this restaurant were destroyed within a 30 second altercation. Quick idea Claudios.. find this employee and move on from your relationship with them. Right this wrong. She is not a loyal employee, just and antagonist. One of which i might add not phased by the laws of social distancing, considering her proximity to our faces. There are hundreds of good people currently looking for employment. read more

Besides the beautiful view of the pier and the upbeat and attentive waitresses, the food was quite disappointing. I myself had the Po Boy crab cake sandwich, which set me back around $18 - in some form or another, the crab cakes were definitely frozen. It was such an ambiguous taste that I was confused the entire time I was eating it. The oysters were fine in taste, but had hardly any meat attached. I also tried my friend's lobster roll and it was rather lackluster. My other friend said the beer battered shrimp was good but not worth the price. For a restaurant right next to the water, the food was just not as fresh as I had expected. I sat down with high expectations and got up feeling dissatisfied. Maybe it was just that day.. I don't know... but what I do know is that I would not recommend Claudio's to a friend based purely on the food I ordered. read more

I would give zero stars if I could. The guy checking ID's at the door was totally rude and out of line. He unnecessirially yelled at my friend and I when a normal private conversation could have been more appropriate. His outburst was completely uncalled for and unprofessional. read more

Sunday, we had a great lunch at Claudio's Waterfront! We pulled up on the boat, and the guys were there (in masks) ready for us to dock. We checked in at the hostess stand (a bit of a wait) as was impressed at how everything was properly marked out keeping with the 6 feet between guests! It was a good crowd and everyone was wearing a mask! Yay! The bar has cool, clear partitions between groups, so the bar experience is still available and safe here! Lobster Cobb never disappoints, and Ashley our server was professional and kind. Great Day at Claudio's! Bravo to the Pro's at Claudios for adapting in these weird times!! read more

Claudio's is a great spot! I'm not one for really busy places normally, but they have a way of making you NOT feel overwhelmed by it. That's remarkable! Let's start with the people--summertime, has to be seasonal staff, right? And this family owned forever spot knows how to look for and train good people! They are young kids for the most part, but seem to have skipped participation in their own Generation. Attentive, friendly, and eager, the staff is a great reason to come back here alone--coupled with the great spot on the water in the biggest little town on the North Fork! ***Full disclosure, been here in the dead of winter too, when only the main restaurant is all that's open...sit at the bar and they'll make you feel like family. Good people all around*** The Food, as consistently good as it gets... You expect what you do being on the water in eastern Long Island, and they deliver...great local beer, great catches, and honestly, a Very Fair price. What a terrible disappointment for my husband's birthday dinner. Started with a Strawberry Daiquiri: watched bartender take a small plastic cup and add a tablespoon of three syrups and seltzer water. Paid $16 for the worst drink ever, and not resembling a Strawberry Daiquiri in any way. Next we were told sorry your appetizer is taking so long; can we bring out your appetizer and dinner at the same time? Both ordered Claudio's Combo for $35 with fried flounder, scallops, popcorn shrimp and clams. Shrimp and clams inedible: simply tiny overdone pieces of batter with negligible taste of any clams or shrimp. Piece of Flounder and scallops dry with no taste. Gordon Ramsey I suspect would have thrown both combo plates into the nearby waters while raging at Claudio's culinary ineptness. Thank Goodness on the way home, we stopped at Briermere's for their Chocolate Cream Pie, so my husband would be able to have one gastronomic goodie to save his special day. The place has had a beautiful renovation! My server was so pleasant and accommodating.The food was fresh and delicious, the new menu has so many more options. The only issue I had was my favorite two dishes were taken off the menu! Please bring back the bang bang shrimp and the marinated burger. read more

View great! Women workers are forced to wear short shorts. Older men are stand around googling them. A real put off to me. Go for a drink and the music. Don't bother with the food. It's average at best, overpriced, and they take at least a half hour to bring out your food, which has been sitting around. read more

Claudio's has been a long time go-to place for my folks. In addition to the original restaurant they have several other outdoor places on the water. They're an institution in Greenport. Perhaps because they don't really need business...they're almost always busy...they stopped trying. Four of us arrived for lunch. We sat indoors and waited a while for the server to arrive. It took some time, but they were busy so... We eventually got our menus and when the waiter came back we began ordering. I wanted to start with some oysters. "I'd like some oysters with the mignonette. Oh...I'll have to see if we have the mignonette. Ok, if you don't have it I'll have something else then as I don't care for the cocktail sauce." He came back a while later saying they had it. Great. A dozen for the table. I also ordered linguine with clams. I'll cut to the chase. The "mignonette" was a doctored oil and vinegar and was disgusting. Oil on oysters? My linguine was tasteless and the pasta was certainly not fresh. They offered no sparkling wines by the glass. The service was awful...mistakes with the orders, waited forever, dropped plates. There are too many restaurants out there and life is short. No need to ever go back to Claudio's. I guess folks on Long Island are used to settling for less. read more

Can you give a restaurant no stars? Well first of all, I got a terrible stomach virus from eating here. My sister complained that the food here trigged her shell fish allergy. And my friend complained the bill was so damn high! There are ao many negatives, what about positives? The only good things were not having to wait for a table and the tap water they give you at the beginning of the meal. The Clam Chowder, is not worthy of an award. This review is for the night scene at Claudio's. Band was great, but way too loud. They played late 80's and 90's rock and the lead singer was really good. Drinks were overpriced, but nothing out of the ordinary for Long Island. You can expect $6 beers $8 drafts and $10 mixed drinks. $10 cover was a little steep for this place. The venue is large and can accommodate a large crowd. There are two bars, a dance floor and a seating area. The vibe was very college-esk but there were definitely a handful of people in there late 20's and early 30's. Overall we had a fun night! read more

Spent a cloudy, yet picturesque afternoon at Claudio's Clam Bar (not to be confused with Claudio's restaurant or Crabby Jerry's at Claudio's). It was a bit too chilly for outdoor seating so we parked ourselves along the window, staring out at the docks and swaying sailboats. The place had a casual dining feel but still possessed an air of modest, New England, Americana. I started with the cup of clam chowder, which they boasted as one of the best - verdict: personally, the best I've ever had. It was thick, chunky, chock full of clams and had that distinct seafood brine flavor that I love in a good chowder. We also had the steak bits for appetizer - wasn't sure what to expect here but was delightfully surprised; chunks of marinated beef - soft, tender and braised. Couldn't quite pinpoint the flavor but tasted of worchestire sauce and other spices - perfectly complemented with creamy horseradish dipping sauce and slices of garlic toast. For my main course, I had the mussels steamed in white and the bf had a lobster roll. The mussels were delicious but wasn't expecting too much variation there. The lobster roll wasn't the usual mayonnaise mess you might expect , but instead had big chunks of claw meat which really set the value on this entrée. Prices were very fair, I've read some reviews claiming overpriced, but from what I would normally expect to pay for seafood in NYC, this was value for my dollar (plus a view!) Have seen Claudio's over the years and always heard good things, but I was (finally) able to partake myself and I am so happy I did. An amazingly beautiful drive out on the North Fork making our way there is, of-course, a plus, but the casual yet special ambiance makes this place a go-to. We ate outside on the deck area, which is covered - the wait staff was attentive and courteous. We each split a lunch order as well as a dozen clams on a 1/2 shell. The marinated burger was one of the best I've had....and we also went with the Mahi Mahi Reuben, glad we did! Its the Mahi Mahi and a Hawian inspired slaw with a cheese (forget which kind) on a nice toast...it was really tasty...clams were nice, not huge and nice flavor to 'em. Holy crap what a disappointment. I sat down at 2:04 and ordered baked clams and 2 lobster rolls - one to go, one to stay. Here is a list of the vast problems, which I was SHOCKED to have for the price tag of a $30 lobster roll: 1. My lobster rolls did not arrive for AN HOUR 2. Upon the 3rd time asking the waitress she alerted me that she put my order in all at once because she knew there were back ups at at the "lobster station" - why wasn't I alerted when I put in my order?? 3. She then got her manager involved - and 60 seconds later the $30 lobster rolls appeared! 4. The manager did NOT stop by and apologize, I was not comped ANYTHING while I was waiting or on final tab, and although the waitress apologized she instructed me to "yelp". $74.95 tab for the record at an off hour. 5. The lobster rolls were mediocre at best. It took an hour to put a small portion of cold lobster salad into a potato bun? Which by the way, was stale by the time it got to me. 6. For $30 I got bagged potato chips? Just saying, fries would at least have elevated a crummy dish. Do yourself a favor - DO NOT come here for the lobster rolls. read more

Tried this place on July 4th as a refreshing seaside 'real seafood' meal. But the lunch was a total disappointment. The famous creamy clam chower was salty. the steam lobster was dry/over cooked. The seafood bake (that is more expensive on July 4th @ $ 29.00) is totally not worth it - all the king crab leg, jumbo shrimps, mussels and clams are small(really really small) and dry. The food was over all over cooked. service was not too bad but the food kills it all. would not come back for sure. ZERO ZERO ZERO!!! This place sucks. A seafood location that CANNOT get seafood right. For the first time In my life I had calamari that actually smelled and tasted like raw fish. Calamari was also mushy and tasteless. The marinara sauce seems like it was poured out from a Prego jar. The dinner menu is no better. Again, I don't understand how a seafood location can screw up a salmon so bad. Mushy, tasteless, and salty. I'm really annoyed I spent over $160.00 on this terrible dinner. Went there this past Friday for the lobster bake dinner for my sisters bachelorette party. Our waitress was from Staten Island and she was so entertaining and on point (I think her name was Mandy or amanda). She catered to everything we needed and offered recommendations. We stayed for some live music by Larry who kept shouting out the bride to be. We went back Saturday for some nightlife by hot date. Brendan the security guard made us feel safe and secure. Is the food great here? No, not really? Is the ambiance and the fact that your on the water in pristine untouched or messed up area of LI great? Yes, and that's the reason that so many people flock here on any given day in the middle of August to eat raw clams, people watch and just to unwind from the stress of life a bit... Or at least that's one of my reasons for going here. The food aforementioned is nothing great and pretty basic for the most part. SO dissapointed in claudio's new managment. My friends amd I have been going to the clam bar for night life,especially the fourth of July, for years. Tonight, security told us they were closed for the night (July 4th). We saw people drinking at the back wharf and asked why they were there and the security reluctantly told us (after probing) that they were the owners. Typical Manhattan finance guys shutting down the whole place for them to drink. They took a classic North Fork, family owned, casual place and are using it as their personal playground. They don't care about the business or customers- they just care about themselves. I love Claudio's but can't bring myself to support these guys. Closing on July 4th is just a shame and shows how self absorbed these new owners are. read more

Do yourself a favor and save your money. Besides the beautiful seating right by the water, the fod is just mediocre! I ordered the "catch of the day" which was swordfish and while fresh, the rice it came with was ice cold and going rancid! Appetizer were little neck clams so tiny abut the size of a quarter!!! The mussels were not fresh at all, with half of them mushy and clearly falling apart of the shell because they were not fresh! Besides the great location and nice staff, this place needs to step it up in the food dept! I wouldn't go back there and suggest you think about it too!! read more

Good food. Other than that I guess if your the right person, Covid guidelines dont apply to you. First come first served, big boat pulls up with 20 people. No reservations, manager greats them as they come up, whisper to front desk woman "we will put them in the back table" (heard you bro) they all get seated as soon as tables are clear. Most of them did not wear masks and walked around with out them on. Never were told to wear one. Others were, and I wasn't the only person to notice. If these people were friends or owners or anything else you should be ashamed of the example you made today. First trip to the area and the town should be ashamed for all the people that did not follow guidelines. Manager on 6/20 shame on you man for playing favorites. And picking and choosing who gets reprimanded for not following guidelines and who gets a free pass. Hope some one reads this and adds to it. read more

Driving through Greenport, this is a good place to stop and not have to worry about parking. It's $10 to park, but they refund it at any of the Claudio's restaurants right there. This place was on the pier surrounded by water, not a bad setting. Average service, we didn't have any major problems. For an outside table we had to wait about 10 minutes, but we sat at the bar to have drinks. Our table was ready before an appetizer of fried clams arrived. My drink was poured super, super strong. The lobster chowder ($8) was pretty fantastic. I had a Mahi Mahi Reuben sandwich ($14), which was really unique and pretty good as well. read more

Lemme tell ya something. Some vacations just turn out magical. Everywhere you go, everything you eat, the people you meet, the things you do. Everything is perfect because it is, and because you let it be. Claudio's Clam Bar was part of that magical experience for me and one of my best girl friends, this August 2012. It was the last night of our Montauk-Shelter Island-Greenport adventure. We walked all over town looking for a restaurant that seemed decent. We hadn't asked anyone, but we saw the signs heading into the marina and we head in. Its a Friday night, kind of late (9pm), and some places aren't open anymore. We're thankful to see Claudio's, and, what's this!? Its ladies night?! Its Lobster Bake night?! Holy crap!! But...they stop serving at 9. We make puppy dog eyes, and the lady hostess relents, and seats us. We know what we want and get the lobster bake. For $20 or whatever, you get a 1 1/4 lb. lobster, clams casino, mussels, sweet corn on the cob, fingerling potatoes, butter and lemon. Everything was fresh and hot. Everything was freaking delicious. I tear up thinking of this meal. We finish, are satisfied and head for the back bar area. Barstaff is CUUUTE and friendly, my cup is never ever empty for long. We settle down at the stools in the very back on the deck overlooking the marina. Its not crowded for 10pm. The DJ starts spinning decent club-ish music. Nice for talking, smoking, and relaxing. Suddenly the skies OPEN up! Everyone rushes to the bar area, and the plastic side panels are quickly unfurled. After the quick 20 minute storm, its over and the side panels are drawn back up. Somehow, around 10:30pm, the place gets kind of crowded! There's a mini-fight in the crowd and all (cute) male staff are all-hands-on-deck and its quelled quickly! My heroes. Including the short order cook by the bar; they're still serving bar food (burgers, hot dogs, fries, and the like). Over the course of the next few drinks, this place turns into the best freaking PARTY EVER. Everyone is friendly, enjoyable, having a great time. Drinks are flowing, the DJ is fistpumping along with these amazing remixes I've never heard and am likely to never hear again. Someone passes out cheap sunglasses to everyone, and we're dancing in groups of strangers, taking pictures with the statue of Captain Morgan. By 12am, my best friend and I are exhausted. Everyone is pretty drunk, but still having a great time, but we have a long journey ahead the next day. We walk home in the magical drizzle, not caring about getting wet, we're drenched in sweat from dancing. Magical. read more

Ah, so lovely out in Greenport. Came here on the last Saturday the outdoor clam bar section was open, and it was perfection. It was breezy, but they did a great job of keeping the outdoor restaurant insulated so you had the beautiful views minus the crisp night air. The wait staff was unbelievably kind and doting. Our entrees took a little long to arrive, although I was here with a party of 8 - so I won't judge that so harshly. The food was absolutely delicious. I ordered the Crab Cake Po' Boy sandwich. Dream worthy. I wish I was back there right now for another. This sauce they give on the side: DRENCH THAT ON EVERYTHING. I should have ordered another cup of sauce. Went this past weekend during the Maritime Festival. Very crowded in the streets but not long wait time in the restaurant. Good atmosphere and the wait staff was very polite. Appetizers and entrées we're good, just one of the entrées was undercooked. Diane was our waitress, she was very nice and attentive by checking on us several times during our meal. We've been coming to Greenport for years. Have been to the main Claudio's many times but never the clam bar. Glad we changed that this trip. Really cool atmosphere literally right on Greenport Harbor. Service was fast and friendly. Beers were local and iced cold. For pub fare, it's everything you want. My girlfriend got a big salad that she loved, I got a wrap that was just very solid with homemade chips that I devoured. My advice to people visiting Greenport is to come to the staples like any of the Claudio's family of restaurants. Best way to get the truest sense of what Greenport is all about. A BIG WARNING THOUGH, I used the ATM at Claudio's, it looked a bit worn but I figured that was from being near sea water. It neither dispensed my money nor gave me a receipt, but it did charge my account. I've been stuck now for over two months trying to talk to money tree to get my money back but they say the owner says it dispensed the money. TOTAL BS. I'm furious. Ordered the Claudio's special, got over cooked seafood deep fried to within an inch of its life. Obviously they buy the breaded fish, shrimp and scallops pre breaded ( as surely the chef did not destroy this food on his own) so this is disappointing for a seafood restaurant. Unappealing food but it has a great location, so that gives it 2 stars instead of 1. Should have tried the main restaurant as that looked good. read more

This is the best outdoors place to eat during the summer in Greenport. The place looks clean and the atmosphere is casual. The food is both visually appealing and it tastes good. I don't mind paying a few bucks extra on the menu if the restaurant has a good combination of food, service, atmosphere and view. Our group enjoyed the lobster roll, crab cake sandwich, flounder fillet sandwich and the skirt steak sandwich. Everything was fresh. Even the steak was pretty good for a seafood place. read more
