After a day at the wineries we decided to end the day with some drinks ( served in real glasses ) and cigars sitting on Adirondack chairs on the grassy knoll overlooking Strongs Marina. With a band setting up behind us we settled in for a relaxing evening. Read a few reviews about the Windamere ( located above the marina) which made us pause but hunger outvoted hesitancy so we threw caution to the wind. Honestly I was pleasantly surprised. Even though we did not have a reservation we were warmly greeted and immediately seated on the outside patio area overlooking both the marina and band. Our server Victoria was outstanding, the epitome of excellent customer service skills; professional, friendly, engaging, menu knowledgeable and attentive. The food was very good starting with the baked clams and mussels. The baked salmon and seared tuna dishes were well seasoned, moist and flaky, the salmon served over rice and asparagus. Found the food good, slightly under portioned compared to other establishments but reasonably priced. During dinner we enjoyed listening to the band ( Radio Flashback) which we had seen previously. Overall a pleasant evening at Windamere enjoying some good food and drinks while listening to some great music. Although there is inside seating I'd recommend the outside patio area. Just a word ( or two) of caution the bar area overlooks the marina pool which can be a little noisy so if your eating would not recommend that patio area and just remember the lyrics to the song 867-530/Jenny you'll understand later . read more

Another recommendation. Saturday we decided to go to the Windermere at Strong's Marina. My band performs there a few times during the summer. Last year I saw that they had a lobster roll special for $19.99. Add a soda for $1. The Windermere odd a beautiful place to go and enjoy lunch or dinner and some live music on the weekend. They have outdoor dining with plenty of umbrellas if you choose, or go out onto the sprawling lawn and relax in a Adirondack chair by a fire pit and enjoy the surroundings, and the waterfront. We had a lovely table and a great waiter with personality. Michael H was a lot of fun to chat with during our lunch. He insisted on me mentioning his awesome hair ! He took great care of our table and provided great conversation. We were a part of 5 and we each ordered the lobster roll warm. You could get cold too. The lobster rolls were really delicious and generous and a great deal for $19.99!!!! It came with no sides so we ordered the onion rings which were perfectly crisp and stacked on a tall skewer. We also ordered fries as well and most importantly, a round of there very delicious martinis and a gin/tonic. Our day at the infante was perfect, michael the waiter was great (shout out again) and the lobster rolls are the best deal around! I highly recommend going there and seeing for yourself! Don't believe the positive reviews which are nonsense. I knew we were in trouble when the hostess attempted to seat our party of 4 outside in the sun in 90 plus degree weather despite the fact that the place was empty. The waitress pushed sparkling water; the table next to us sent it back because it was flat. The Old fashioned was low on alcohol and high in pulp, the Blue Moon was flat (I didn't even know that was possible), and the mixed drinks were artificially flavored liquid devoid of alcohol. Everything had fries: the waitress decided to bring salt, pepper and ketchup after the meal was over. Two of sandwiches were inferior versions of McDonald's Filet of Fish and McCrispy Chicken. The hot lobster roll was edible: it should have been, as it was $34. Actually despite largely sub-par food and drinks, the total bill was $230 before tip. The location is great! The food was delicious. The band was entertaining. The service was subpar. We felt that the waitress was annoyed having to serve us. She never came by to ask if we needed anything else. She walked by our table several times without checking on us. We had to stop her to get more water. We were considering getting dessert, but she never came by to ask if we wanted dessert. So much time had gone by we finally asked for the check. When she brought the check it was for a different table. There seemed to be plenty of staff working so I don't think was the issue. This is the first time that I have given a restaurant a negative review. read more

Unfortunately, this was a very disappointing stop for my wife and I. We had never been here before, but the view looked excellent online. And by all accounts it was just fine. Wait staff was very kind and attentive. But, then again we were the only customers. The water comes in a nice decorative bottle, but sadly that is where the positives end. The cocktails were served in clear plastic solo cups. Flavor wise, they were fine, but for 18$ the cups were a puzzling choice. We ordered the duck wings, which were fine. I ordered the shrimp scampi and was very disappointed. The shrimp were extremely overcooked and the scampi sauce was flavorless with a watery consistency. The pasta was overcooked and was a touch away from being mush. My wife ordered a chicken sandwich, which was also very overcooked. Though at least the sandwich was generous in size. I can't say if this is the usual quality of food, but I also won't be returning to find out. read more

If you're looking for a spot with amazing ambiance, this place nails it. The views of the water are absolutely gorgeous, perfect for a sunset dinner or a romantic date night. The vibe is relaxing and upscale without feeling stuffy. Unfortunately, that's where the good news ends. The service was painfully slow, we waited over 30 minutes just for drinks and over an hour for our entrees. When the food finally arrived, it was cold. Not lukewarm, not "cooled off a bit", straight-up cold. For the prices on this menu, I expected something fresh and hot, not something that tasted like it had been sitting in the kitchen for 20 minutes. The staff was friendly, but no amount of smiles can make up for such a long wait and disappointing food. If you're going just to enjoy the scenery and don't mind mediocre food, this might work for you. Otherwise, you might want to grab a quick bite elsewhere before coming here for the view and a cocktail. read more

We have been to Windamere numerous times for the lobster roll special and for lunch and have always had a good experience. So we decided as a group of 9 ( family) to do Mother's Day there. They told me there was a brunch. So that is what we got. Our bill was exorbitant. And when I got home and looked at it I saw that they charged $80 per person for a brunch. No drinks were included. My mom and I found this place while driving around out east and we are so happy we did! The restaurant and grounds are absolutely beautiful and you can see all the amazing boats on the marina. The service was impeccable and so was the food. We were greeted by Dan who is the manager, and he was also our server. He couldn't have been nicer or more accommodating. He made us feel so welcome from the moment he saw us walking in. The atmosphere is nautical which I love, and it is bright and airy, with the best views of the water. The food here is amazing, and mom and I agreed they make the best baked clams we have ever had! I had seared tuna which was cooked perfectly, and mom's fish and chips were perfect. Not greasy at all, and the fish was flaky and moist. The shoe string potatoes were also excellent, and also the best that I have ever tasted. Another server was named Angel, and she came over to our table to check on us. She was so nice and also so attentive, even though we weren't her table. Dan and Angel work so well together, and made our entire experience the best! We will definitely be back, and I encourage you all to try this place. It is so relaxing and beautiful. We came in hopeful--great cocktails and friendly, attentive service set the tone early. The place was nearly empty, which should have been our first clue. Unfortunately, things went downhill from there. The tuna, which should have been the star of the meal, was clearly not fresh. Its texture was off and the flavor just wasn't there. The other dishes didn't fare much better--bland, underseasoned, and lacking any real identity. For a restaurant that shows promise in atmosphere and drinks, the kitchen seriously needs to catch up. It was a beautiful day so we took a drive out east and decided to try Windamere after hearing its name come up several times over the years. Not too many people eating lunch there; outside seating only during that time of day, but it was perfect out so that was fine. Our server was somewhat attentive and generally knowledgeable about the menu. Was not overly friendly but our orders were accurate. I had the shrimp tacos and spouse had the lobster roll. Both were very good. Would have appreciated a larger menu selection even for lunch. We will consider coming back to try their dinner menu at some point. The only tables that they were seating people at were right in front of the pool, which was not enjoyable because it was somewhat loud. There were tables further away from the pool but I felt like it was an inconvenience to request one of them so as not to make the server go too far from the other tables. We also felt a little out of place as we are not members of the club there. Lately we've been exploring restaurants we haven't been to yet, so we were glad to try here, but definitely not one of our faves. Perhaps we will change our minds when coming for dinner! read more

ABSOLUTELY HORRIBLE, worst restaurant experience of my life. Our family of 7 (5 adults, 2 15 yr olds) had dinner @ Windemere. Ordered cocktails and all were terribly made except for the Yeungling on tap! Cosmos were bright red and overly limey, their "signature drink" a lavender Elderberry something tasted like a grape lifesaver. We ordered 5-6 apps to share. The fried calamari ($19) came on a tiny plate with 10 pieces (yes I counted); we sent it back and asked to speak with the manager. Chicken wings were nuked & soaked in hot sauce. Baked clams were heavily crusted filled with something but not sure what, watermelon feta salad was good but the shrimp cocktail was borderline fresh. As for entrees the shrimp tacos has small bits of shrimp in a lettuce, tomato, onion, vinaigrette mixture slathered with a sauce that was so wet the soft taco broke apart at the bottom and so we were left eating the filling off the plate. The fish on the fish and chips was either frozen or made days ago and not fresh fried. Kids' Rigatoni Vodka sauce was over salted. However the insult of the night was the lobster roll which is advertised for lunch at $19.99 including fries & soft drink. The dinner version was a roll skimpily filled with lobster pieces for $39!! (Guess I should have asked what MP was but the lunch version was $20 so I didn't bother). Our server was a nice enough young lady and very apologetic, but not an experienced waitperson. Ambiance is wonderful; a beautiful property on the water. $450 + $90 gratuity (it wasn't her fault) and the manager never came over, guess he was busy managing something. read more

What an incredible find. Made a Resy, and was easily sat in the courtyard. Fantastic view of the marina. Able to walk around as you please. Quiet and upscale outdoor patio that is well kept. Visited this place for the first and only time tonight. Had a reservation for 7:30 and we were seated when we arrived at 720 because our party size had decreased from 5 to 3. Waitress came over for the water order right away. She then took our cocktail order at about 730/735. By 7:50 I was asking a diff staff member where our waitress was because she didn't come back with the drinks, she said they were backed up 15 mins on drinks but they'd be out soon. 8pm our first round of drinks arrives and we order food. The menu isn't fancy so it's basic stuff..... then 835 our appetizer finally comes out. Just calamari, it was ok. Dinner doesn't arrive until 9pm. I ordered a very simple chicken sandwich... chicken isn't cooked. I flag down a very young man that works there and he apologizes and takes it away. He comes back about 5 mins later they somehow tried to reheat the fried chicken, but there was two pieces and the other is STILL not cooked. At this point I say forget it take it off the bill. This was about 0915. When the waitress finally comes by 930 and asks how everything is I tel her because she didn't know anything about it. It then takes us another almost 20 to get and pay the bill after the chicken sandwich was removed and they put on some kind of discount. The waitress apologized but not management came out, nothing. Haven't had this bad of an experience at a restaurant in years, serving undercooked fried chicken cutlet is crazy. Especially since it took an hour to prepare it! Called for a reservation and almost didn't get one as they weren't taking any more reservations but on special talk with the manager we managed to get one. When we arrived and after we left there were a dozen empty tables. What was that all about? I had been looking forward to my delicious scallops I had last summer on our visit by boat to Strongs Water Club only to find they changed the menu and were no longer available. Ordered the fish and chips and it was just awful - fishy, greasy, and salty. Last summer I gave a four star review. My only complaint was they wouldn't allow our two well behaved toy poodles. This year I saw several dogs. I think good food is more important! We will try again while docked at the marina for the week and see what happens, but for the prices we expect much much better. read more

Two stars for the view. This was our first time since new ownership took over and i won't go back unless a lot changes. We were 0 for 4 with our orders and waitstaff and management knew it. The old fashioned was murky on ice, the bartender made it over twice. The calamari was overly fried and salty. The manager even said he didn't like it and knew it was bad. we ordered the burger medium rare and it was well done and over cooked. I wanted to be forgiving but for a $125 bill and everything to be bad, it's just not something I would go back for. None of the meals were comped. But the managed did give my daughter a free ice cream which was nice. Bottom line, if you don't mind spending a lot of money for mediocre food and a good view then it's fine. Came here from the winery. There wasn't any wait although we made reservations. The weather was perfect so we sat outside near the pool with a nice view of the water and boats. The menu had many options. I went for the catch of the day which was halibut. I was a bit skeptical on beet risotto but when I tasted it I was in beet risotto heaven! Mmm mmm mmm! My dish was dish-liscious! And my drink the Bristol fashioned was made with love, thank you. Service was good also. Us ladies took some pictures by the water . We chose Windamere for a celebratory dinner out because the menu looked delicious and gluten free items were marked as such (I have celiac disease.) I was very disappointed during the ordering process to find out that most of the items marked as GF were not safe for celiacs due to cross contamination (the fries and duck wings are made in a shared fryer with gluten) or just due to containing wheat (the duck breast is marked GF but comes with a side of farro which contains gluten and the jerk shrimp is marked GF but our server told us this was a mistake.) Our server was very accommodating in speaking with the chef about my options and I ended up ordering the Catch of the Day which was blackfish with a carrot stew. It was absolutely delicious and perfectly cooked, but honestly left me hungry, as I had arrived ready for a big meal and it was not very filling. My husband ordered the fresh bread to snack on and pork belly as his entree and he loved both. Overall, we thought that the service was great and food was delicious. The attention to and accommodations for allergy needs were sorely lacking. We hope Windamere can update their menu to only mark items GF if they do not contain gluten/are not cross contaminated with gluten to keep all guests safe! I knew we would have a good meal when stopping by at Windamere for lunch, but seriously, today all expectations were exceeded, and we were both WOWED by our lunches. Starting with the Tuna Tartare appetizer, s super fresh and generous share portion. The fresh tuna over a bed of guacamole, topped with Chinese noodles, and a sweet dipping sauce on the side. For entrees, the fish of the day, Pan Seared Halibut over Beet Risotto, was a super fresh and tasty entree, that pardon the pun, Can Not be Beet! And our other entree, the Grilled Duck Breast, over broccoli rabe, was super tender, tasty, and was as good as a top quality sirloin. I can't forget to thank or server Nicole for the great and attentive service. And also the newly renovated outdoor patio, with ample tables and umbrellas, overlooking Mattituck Creek, makes for an excellent and memorable dining experience. First time here, not sure if I'm coming back on a weekend. This review is purely based on the service, since the food is good and tasty. Had the chicken and waffles, which I highly recommend. The location is unbelievably beautiful and peaceful, wine selection is great, and the servers are incredibly friendly, but the live music singers are disturbingly novice, which seems like the owners have their kids singing, since it's worse than karaoke. The music by itself is nice, but when they sing, they kill the atmosphere. One note, it did take an hour to get our food, but the servers did their best and really made the experience good for us, especially Matt. read more

Manager's hostile "apology" was that they had "16 people just come into the restaurant". We were there at 6pm and ordered long before their arrival - nearly empty restaurant at the time. It's so bad when the manager makes a meal go from bad to worse. Pasta dish was as dry as wallpaper paste. Just plain stupid to make people walk all the way around the exterior of the restaurant only to walk them all the way back if they are dining inside. Bottom line. Go for a drink and the view.
