This place is one of the best spots to eat Cajun seafood in SJ. The place is a bit small and sometimes the parking can be a bit hard especially during dinner time but it's worth it. They don't mix sauces together but the best sauce is there most popular sauce. I got the mild sauce but they can their spicy sauce is very tasty and most people like their spicy. I do like they offer the combination which includes, sausage, potatoes and corn in the bag. This place tastes way better than Boiling Crab. And Kickin Krab. I would recommend getting the shrimp, mussels, and garlic noodles, Cajun fries and the raw oysters. My friend got crawfish and luckily they were in season so the crawfish size were huge. The service is pretty decent. They made sure they came around to refill our waters a couples times. This place is a hidden gem for San Jose. Very family friendly place but again really small. Claw shack is my preferred Cajun boil restaurant in the South Bay! We got a pound each of mussels and headless shrimp and made it a combo to add in corn, sausage, and potatoes. We got it in medium shambalang sauce. We found that medium spice was just the right amount of spice so that our bodies wouldn't hate us later LOL we also got an order of Cajun fries which pair so well with the seafood! I'm also a huge fan of their garlic noodles but decided to go with the fries this time. We called in to make our order and food was hot and ready in 15min. Great service and awesome food read more

The best spot for cajun boil in the bay!! So many delicious sauces like the shambalang and shackies. Medium spice is the way to go. It packs heat without dying for water. Our typical order is a pound of shrimp with head in shackies medium. The snow crab clusters are $28 currently for about 10 legs and also comes with a bread roll (so good for dipping in sauce)! I usually get the garlic noodles but went for the garlic fries this time. Probably would not get again because the fries were very hard and not in a crispy way. Outdoor seating is still available but not many tables to begin with. So plan on coming before the dinner rush. read more

I've dined in twice and ordered to-go once. SAUCE: Two times, I ordered the shambalang medium which was delicious and the perfect amount of spice for me. Garlicky and spicy, just the way I like it. The other time, I ordered shackies medium which is advertised as the restaurant's thickest sauce that clings to the shrimp. However, the shackies sauce is rather disappointing. I found it to be watery compared to the shambalang sauce. Tastewise, it's sweeter too. Overall, I like the shambalang sauce better. SHRIMP: I always order it with the head on and every time, the shrimp has been fresh, big, and plump. I've tried other seafood boil places in SJ like Boiling Crab and Capt Loui and Claw Shack is my favorite by a long distance due to how delicious the shrimp and sides are. SIDES: -potatoes: they use the classic red potatoes and they have always been cooked perfectly when I order them -corn: delicious with a nice crunch. I don't like it when the corn is dense and soggy and I've never had that problem here -sausage: thick tasty slices of sausage -garlic fries: I ordered this two separate times. The first time was in summer/fall of 2021 and the fries were thick cut fries with a lot of garlic and I found them absolutely delicious. However, I ordered them again in summer of 2022 and the fries are no longer thick cut and were actually hard. I usually really enjoy Claw Shack (pre quarantine), but my visit for takeout (during quarantine) heavily disappointed me. I had an order for fathers' day consisting of: -Garlic noodles -1 pound shrimp -1 pound crawfish -fried fish fillet / fries -wings / fries -extra sauce I came to pick up at the time they said it'd be ready and went home (~10 min), but upon opening my food, EVERYTHING was lukewarm, except my crawfish... :( I was super bummed! I had to microwave the garlic noodles, and threw all of the wings, fries, fish into the air fryer. I couldn't do much about the shrimp so we just ate it lol. I always get the shrimp w/ the shackies sauce which is very garlicky and savory with a hint of sweetness, it's like a flavor bomb in your mouth and the shrimps are big and plump. I also love the garlic noodles, it's hella garlicky and flavorful and if you want some spice just add some sauce from your seafood. If there was a claw shack closer to San Francisco I would go every week. The prices here are very reasonable for the quality they consistently push out. A lot of their stuff is ala carte but their sauces are pretty good compared to most. I really like their shambalang sauce it's a combination of all their signature sauces. We've ordered their boils, jambalaya and a few other things. Boils are good. We always grab the shrimp and the clams with the shambalang sauce medium spice. We just add potatoes and corn to it and sausages. Jambalaya wasn't very good. Just soggy and kind of tasted bland. We've sat both inside and outside. Both when it was busy and not so busy. We ordered the crawfish and prawns with the shackie's and shambalang sauces. Personally I feel that the crawfish were a little small, so I enjoyed the prawns more. Also we liked both sauces, but preferred the shambalang sauce for its spicy, garlicky and lemony taste. This is a late review, since I've been coming to this location for years now and I came back to try it about 2 weeks ago. The sauce at this location is so much thicker/and has more flavor! I love both the shackies and shambalang sauce and can never choose between the two. This place has the best garlic noodles in my opinion, and I love that they serve garlic baguettes. My server was really friendly and also gave gloves automatically, which was a plus! The only con is that they don't check on you so if it's busy you have to flag them down. I also ordered togo and they forgot my garlic bread, but either way I'd still return especially since it was so good when I went! read more

Been to many places like this but first time trying Claw Shack. Ordered 1 lb of shrimp & clam in garlic butter, garlic noodles, and garlic honey & onion glazed wings with fries. The take-out was ready in about 15 min. My main complaint is the lack of sauce. Even for the food that had sauce, it was not mixed very well. The quality of the shrimp and clam also left a lot to be desired. The garlic noodle was good though, and the wings were crispy. I have been here many times in the past 5+ years. I honestly liked this place more than boiling crab and kickin crab because their food was always consistent. At least up until a couple days ago, when the clams tasted fishy and the chicken wings tasted a bit old. There were also at least 6 FOH servers not helping anyone and were just talking and eating amongst themselves. The major turn off was when a server (wearing a hat, glasses, and hoop earrings) VAPED INSIDE THE RESTAURANT. That is definitely not ok.. I absolutely love this place so much! One thing that Claw Shack that allows it to be different than other cajun places is that their their sauce is thin. It's not as soupy and watery as other places. This place gets so busy when it's at night! Especially on the weekends :). Staff is really friendly and will help you with your needs. I always love coming here when I have a strong craving for seafood. I love their special sauce! It comes with everything as it all blends together. Especially if your order potatoes too.. oh my god.. being able to drench it all makes everything so much better. We also got their garlic noodles and cajun fries. Easy to find parking Nice vibe in the store. Good place for a group of friends to hang out here. We ordered 2 pounds of crawfish combo in shackles with medium spice level. And 2 pound of crawfish + half shell green lip mussels in shambalang. Waitress will give detailed descriptions of each sauce if you ask. I forget the details of each one but they are really patient and explained everything. Garlic noodle is so good!!! Goes really well with all the seafood. Really fun experience overall! We decided to order the following: -2 lb of crawfish with shambalang sauce -2 lb of shrimp with shambalang sauce -Cajun fries -Fried calamari with fries -Garlic noodles For the crawfish & shrimp, you can choose the spice level. We went for medium, which was good. I think I could've done mild to make it more bearable for myself. If I were to pick fries, I'd go for regular fries since there is a lot of flavor in the other entrees. Garlic noodles were good too - a popular pick here. This place can get a bit messy. If you don't want to get your hands too dirty, ask for gloves and bibs! This may become a staple of places for us to eat for GNO! read more

The food here is quite oily/buttery but honestly, from a health conscious person who likes to skim on butter in a baking recipe, I am glad this place does not skimp on their butter because the amount of oil in their dishes just MAKES IT 10X BETTER AND WORTH THE FAT. My fave things to order here: 1. Garlic Noodles- i swear i could eat 2 plates of this myself (maybe not actually but I would ideally like to if I could train my belly to expand) 2. Yelp says they close at 9pm so we drove all the way from SF and when we arrived at 7:45pm, the waiter said they were already closed and no longer taking tables. I usually call in for pick up orders or go earlier in the evening to avoid a long wait. My typical order is a pound of shrimp head on, crawfish with all the fixings, garlic noodles, and cajun fries. The head on shrimp pairs super well with their shambalang sauce! The shambalang has a nice balance of spice and citrus. I recommend getting this compared to their other sauces. The head on shrimp is $15.99 a pound and it costs $6 to make it a combo which includes corn, potatoes, and sausages. Fries are pretty standard, nothing special and just something you get when you're craving fries. No Cajun meal is complete with garlic noodles! I'd give the garlic noodles 4/5, they're good but not the best I've had. They do have chunks of garlic on there and lots of pepper for flavor. The flavor is good but the noodles can afford to be just a little chewier. The shrimp 4/5, tastes fresh not frozen but obviously not as fresh as it would be if you bought it at the market yourself. Give it a try! The service is always great. Servers are attentive, knowledgeable so they're able to answer any questions or give recommendations, and they're always friendly. The garlic noodles are a MUST when you come here, they're the best ones I've ever had. Everything was very flavorful and not overly oily like other places. You can dine in or order takeout. They offer both indoor and outdoor dining with lots of space between each table. They also provide gloves if you don't want to get your hands dirty. The food comes out pretty fast but the wait can be long (and parking can be hard to find) if you come during a busy time. I'd recommend coming right before the dinner rush. My boyfriend and I were craving seafood boil after having Boiling Crab last week, so we decided to revisit Claw Shack since it's usually less busy and has the wonderful combo deal. We ordered around 3pm for pickup and it was ready in about 15 minutes. We ordered 2 lbs shrimp + combo (shamba, mild/medium) and 1lb crawfish + 1 lb mussel + combo (shamba, mild), clam chowder, extra sausage, and cajun fries. It came with a bag of lemon wedges and salt/pepper. Unfortunately we didn't ask for bibs, gloves, or a table cover so none of that was included. Overall the food was delicious, no denying that. I love that for $3 more, the combo lets you get some potatoes, corn, and sausage to break up the monotony of the seafood. At BC each of these items is a separate charge. The shrimp here were also bigger and in general plumper/fresher tasting than BC, although I believe they overcooked 75% of them as they were sticking to the shell and difficult to peel. The crawfish definitely tasted fresher than the frozen crawfish from BC, which makes sense. I also really liked the mussels and I would definitely get mussels over clams just for the amount of meat you get per shell. I do feel like their 1lb of crawfish was way less than BC's 1 lb, just by shells alone. I'm a little suspect about their weighing in general. Boiling Crab's sauces are thicker too and cling better to the food, whereas the sauces here are definitely more liquid. Either way I was chugging water afterwards from all the salt, and I also took a nap which always seems to happen after I binge on seafood boils lol. I would also say that these sauces are not as spicy as the equivalent level at BC. Mild/medium just made your lips burn a tiny bit. Clam chowder was tasty and had some hefty clam pieces, and cajun fries were a good complement to all the seafood. I would say between Claw Shack and Boiling Crab the pros and cons kind of equal out and they're very fair competitors. My leftover shrimp the next day were nearly impossible to peel and were super mushy and sad :( Never had this happen before so I'm a little disappointed. read more

We got a huge dinner here last night and everything was really tasty. I got the Garlicky Mild sauce for 1lbs shrimp and 1lbs fresh crawfish combo (sausage, corn, potatoes added). Hubby got the Garlicky medium sauce and just 1lbs crawfish. Definitely spice level was similar so he was disappointed and will go up a spiciness level next time, but still tasty. He stole some of my shrimp so definitely needed 1.5-2lbs for each of us. Staff were polite and helpful, but mostly left us alone to do this carnage in peace. We got beers and enjoyed eating outside under the covered patio on a cool summer night. We weren't forgotten out there and got good service still. 12.15.2021 This was H's choice when we asked her what food she wanted for her graduation dinner with the family. She said her friends highly recommended this place vs. other seafood boil places. I ordered two of their Combo Deals through the app and hubby picked up our order. The food was packaged well --no smells, no leaking juices or sauces. Combo Deal for the boiled entrees cost $4 more and came with 2 corns, 2 potatoes and 5 sausages. One combo was all shrimp with the Shackies sauce and the other combo with shrimp and mussels had the Shambalang sauce. The sauces were packaged separately from the seafood. We mixed everything together when it was close to dinner time. The seafood was definitely fresh and cooked well. I had no idea what the sauces were so I ordered a couple of them guessing they were signature sauces. Their app or websites didn't have any sauce explanations or descriptions. The Shambalang sauce was a darker sauce and had a little more kick to it. The Shackies sauce was just as good. I did order extra mild for spice level so the flavor kick was definitely in the sauces. The sausages had a good kick and flavor and the mini red potatoes were the perfect size. The mini corn cobs were yummy. We ate some leftovers the next day and it tasted just as good. We reheated the food in a pan/pot. We would definitely order from here again. Great quality food and easy ordering and take out service via the app. Oopsie! We got 2 pounds of shrimp to share (felt like less than 2lbs to be honest but I can't prove that and it did not factor into my rating). The flavor was good but was on the lighter side for sure compared to other places, I found myself having to drench my shrimp in sauce to really taste the flavor. The potatoes and sausage were good.
