My bf loves cajun seafood and we've been to many different restaurants. This is one of our favorites! The food here is so scrumptious! We got a combo of peeled and regular shrimp with cajun sauce, sausages, and rice along with the corn and BBQ wings as our sides. I usually love the cannon ball for a sauce since it's a combination of all three, but we wanted to try something different. I definitely like the cannon ball best though. Can't go wrong with the garlic in that! The shrimp are a good size. The cajun sauce was a bit runny, but flavor was good! The corn is bomb.com! Love it's cheesy goodness. Definitely recommend ordering that! The bbq wings were average, not bad. The place is clean! Their staff are friendly and make casual conversation which was nice. Becareful they will charge u $1 for a lime (yes that's right ONE whole lime)!! Had the hubby pick up dinner and asked him to ask for an extra lime because in the past their lime sometimes do not have much liquid. The so call "manager" decided to make this extra charge but if u look on the menu no where does it state u will be charge for extra lime. So RIDICULOUS that this "manager" made up his own rule as if he is the owner. We were frequent customers and never had this issue before when asking for extra lime. They just lost our business. If the owner is reading this please have this "manager" retrained in customer service. Being so stingy will only drive customers away. For the apps we had cajun fries and these fried chicken wraps things which were awesome .. My girlfriend and her friend also had a side of rice each and garlic bread which was delicious. All in all it was a good experience and the service and food was great..Our total was around $84.00 and that was with (1) 6.00 beer and (1) soft drink the 3lb combo with 2 apps was $48.00 with the side and extras it added up quick. I asked to be seated and would order for the other kids, so no loss for the restuarant, however the staff stated, "We'll seat you when the other 2 in your party arrive & walked away." From the start they don't take reservations. They do have a texting service to text you when your table is available. The wait for 2 was estimated 20 mins, but the actual wait was much less than that. These Cajun seafood places are so much fun to eat at, however the worst part is having to work for you food and peel your own shrimp. THIS PLACE IS AWESOME. They have a peeler in the back that PEELS THE SHRIMP FOR YOU FOR ONLY 50 cents!!! what a deal! Honestly I'm giving them a 1 star because the front of the house staff either needs to be fired or retrained. Three times they forgot to input our order into their system. DO NOT COME HERE DURING COVID. They do not know how to handle take out orders vs walk in take out orders. They pick and choose who they serve, rather than first come/call first served. I watched as tens of people got served before me because they CALLED in even though I had been waiting for 45 min +. The price is kind of high but the quality is definitely there. I would suggest only getting crawfish when live crawfish is available ($14 per lb) because their frozen crawfish tastes like rubber. I would also recommend the regular (unpeeled) shrimp ($14 per lb) which are huge and the shells retain a lot of the delicious juices so the flavor comes out a lot more when you eat it. My go-to side is the cajun fries with ketchup-mayo dipping sauce. The fries are crispy and seems as though they are double-fried. I prefer my fries a little soggier but I order these anyways. Food is good but it's so annoying that the phone often doesn't work. This happens regularly. My wife called dozens of times trying to get through. The last time this happened they told me that they only have one line and that it's only busy when somebody's on the phone. Of course, when I arrived on my recent visit, nobody is on the phone. And the phone doesn't work. I tried calling while I was in the store and it didn't even ring. Also, the last time when I couldn't get through, I came in person and they wouldn't let me order food to go. So four stars for the food. Zero stars for the lack of a working phone. This is my first time at Claws. From the parking lot it is a little deceiving how big and spacious it is. The customer service is fantastic! Every host, waiter and runner worked together to ensure that we were taken care of. I ordered the Cajun shrimp pasta (spicy) and my husband ordered the fried shrimp a la carte with fries. Yes, wow, delicious If this is your first visit something to note is that the shrimp in a bag and peeled shrimp is not deveined. Our sides were fries and a French baguette topped off with sweet tea - old school black tea that was down south sweet with sugar. But I came ready to genuinely give this place a try. It's always super busy so it must be good. Well, must be the location because this place did not come close to that other place. I ordered a lb of the long shell mussels (garlic spicy), a lb of shelled shrimp (lemon pepper no spice), a lb of crawfish (frozen, Cajun spicy). Also had some potatoes and corn in the crawfish and a potato and corn in the shrimp bag. Can't say much about the shrimp. Never been a fan of shrimp and the bag was mostly to cater to my son. They were pretty big shrimp. He seemed to enjoy it. The mussels, they keep both shells on them! And some of them don't even come with meat in them! I feel cheated from the lb I paid. The crawfish was good in size and tender for a frozen batch. But quantity felt nowhere near the lb I get at that other one place. The sauce/flavoring on all of them: not satisfied. More powder substance (almost salty like) than actual ---sauce (liquid) flavoring! Huge huge disappointment there. Huge. My potatoes and corn usually stay soaking in the Cajun sauce/flavoring until the end. They were pretty dry. I will say this though, I'm a sucker for Spicy (hot). The other place, even when I order their spiciest option, it's a hit or miss. They're not very consistent with the level of chili there. Here, at Claws, I ordered the 2nd to spiciest option. I'm going to save you the time and tell you to go another cajun/seafood spot. I came in today with my boyfriend around 4:30PM just to try the place out and it wasn't too packed so we were seated immediately. Our waitress was super accommodating and helpful in explaining the menu. Right off the bat I noticed that it was strange that this place only included one seafood combo (crawfish, shrimp, clams, mussels) and and that potatoes, sausage, and other things that usually come with a bag are an additional charge. We ended up each getting a pound of snow crab clusters with a corn with a side order of fried calamari and garlic pasta. Our food came out pretty fast starting with the garlic pasta which was delicious! The fried calamari came out next and it too was pretty good. Finally we got our crab legs (they kinda skimpped us on sauce) but as we tried to eat them, we noticed that the meat of the crab was really stringy and hard to take out of the shell in one piece. When we told our waitress that our crab was funky like it had been frozen, she proceeded to tell us that ALL their seafood EXCLUDING the crawfish and mussels are frozen and NOT fresh! BLEH! Overall this place is okay. Our waitress was very attentive and we're so glad she was honest about the frozen seafood. Once I was introduced to this place , I knew I was never going back to the boiling crab! Then she told me that last call is also at 930 PM. So I said that fine I can get there and wait but I won't be there until after 930 and she stated "yes, the kitchen's last call is at 930." So what are you trying to tell me? I asked then, so can I order for pick up then? And she said "yes, we just can't start your order until you arrive since that is our policy for first time phone orders...and last call is at 930." I literally had to break it down for her. "If I place my order now and (like I already told you) I love 15 minutes away, if I arrive AFTER 930 will my order be prepared?" She pauses and says, "no." 3 things: 1. I have been to Claws several times over the past few years. Tonight I took my family and was very disappointed. I had never before gotten king crab legs with the meat inside so dry and empty. One of my legs was okay but the other was unacceptable. My other family members had the same experience with the quantity and quality of the king crab legs. We informed our server and eventually the manager Joseph came out. I explained that I'd been very happy with the food quality in the past and even showed him where the crab meet with dry and stuck to the shell. I asked to for a discount on the $240 meal for four. He would not accommodate. I asked for the corporate number and he said that it was a private business and call back and ask for the owner Ted. I am not sure I will ever go back to this place. When I pay $45 per pound for crab legs I expect the quality to be really good. I know they cannot control every batch. But, in my situation I expected more understanding and some compensation but no discount or gift certificate was offered. I am very upset with the manager Joseph. read more
