I popped into Clawson Shoe Repair with a pair of leather boots in need of a good cleaning and some minor repairs to the scratched heel. Intending this to be my litmus test for the service and quality, I left the other pairs of shoes and boots at home. These are my workhorse pair getting me through autumn and winter. The shop is fairly unassuming and filled with various paraphernalia for all your shoe needs and wants. I noted they carry several German soles, inserts, and the like which are usually confined to specialty shops or Amazon. If you're in the market for heel cups or cushy insoles, come here first. My boots were returned to me better looking than when I bought them. For $8, I got a cleaning until they were spic 'n span, polish bright enough to see your reflection (dimly) in, and all the scratches polished up until you couldn't notice. I was pleased. I intend to bring in a few pickier pairs of suede boots here to have them repaired. With the turn around time and quality, you can't really beat what you get. The price is good too, though until I see some more difficult work, I'm not sure what constitutes good or bad. read more

I love my dog. I love my shoes. I don't love it, however, when my dog does damage to my shoes, as was the case a few months ago when he ate the strap off of a brand new pair of Mary Janes (that were so comfortable and only worn twice!). I took them to Clawson Shoe Repair and just picked them up where a new strap was put on and they are good as new. Total cost of the shoes? $40. Total cost to repair the strap? $10. I feel very bad about not writing this review earlier. Over the past six months I have taken three new pairs of shoes to get 'capped' and my GF's very pricey snake skin bag in for repair. Service is prompt and the pricing is great. They took to time to explain how they would repair the bag and its held up 5 months after getting it back. I was also given some critical advise in regards to the cost effectiveness of a pair of shoes I wanted to have saved. If you have a question I wouldn't hesitate to stop in with you item just to get their opinion. I've had two pairs of lace ups capped by them (with another to go). I lost some weight and needed my belt refitted. For $4 they drilled two new holes and trimmed off the extra. Saved me $50 for a new belt. The stitching in a pair of my dress shoes came apart, I had a big hole...considered them to be garbage. Took them in and for $5 they stitched them up. Good as new. So here's a story: I was on vacation. I bought a beautiful, green, pricey, BCBG bag and loved it. It was my new favorite thing. And everything was good. Good until it broke 3 months later. The latch broke right off and it wouldn't close and I was sad. Heartbroken actually- I was heartbroken. So I took it in to Clawson Shoe Repair and held it out to them and they took the broken bag from me, gave me a numbered tag, and promised me they would make it all better. And a week later I stopped back in to see how it was doing and there it was. On a rack right in front, hanging there all better. I think they might've even wiped out some scuffs on the front of it for me. Either way, it was the best experience ever. And it only set me back $6! This place is tops! I have had several pairs of shoes repaired or spiffed up over the years. Always have been very pleased with the workmanship, the quick turnover time and the affordability. Alright, I'm gonna keep it at 4 stars - they did a great job! However, they said they would stretch the fabric of my suede boot down where it had ripped, and when I picked it up, they had just colored the tear in with some black. They did a great job on the heel on that pair of boots, and on my leather boots, but the repair was not as amazing as I expected. Also, I was charged $23. Not sure how everyone else got a $5 deal, but I know $23 to get another season or two out of my favorite boots beats $90 for a new pair. I will definitely be bringing my shoes back to Clawson in the future for any repairs - super friendly service, done on time, and done well. read more

My black loafers were in terrible shape. An entire winter of salt damage (I would rub it with everything--but later the same day, the white salt stains would reappear), a small tear in the front of the left shoe, and really, really muddy after a spring golf game pretty much ended their life-span. Until I brought it here. Seriously--they washed the pair of shoes inside and out with all kinds of salt-removing chemicals. Rubbed black leather dye into the show (it was unrequested) and repaired the hole in front. Made them look like new. And they were ready when they were supposed to be. For $15 (I was expecting $35 the way he was explaining the necessary steps) I salvaged a pair of $70 loafers. Never going anywhere else to get my shoe repairs done. read more

Unfortunately, i have to give a negative review for Clawson Shoe Repair. Im so disappointed to do this, as there so many positive reviews. All these positive reviews even convinced me to give this place a second chance. The first time I dropped a pair of brand new suede shoes off to be soled, they came back with a black glue stain on the side of the shoe. I don't think it was the owner, but his helper. At first they said the stain was there already, which it was not, as if there was, i would have exchanged the brand new shoes where I purchased them from. CSR tried to clean the stain but with no avail. I din't blame them for not being able to get the stain out, but they are responsible for the stain itself. I decided to give them another try. As I always try to be fair. I brought a purse in with leather flaking off. We agreed that CSR will repatch the 2 rectangular patches to match the current section of the purse. They also said they would glue down a few flakes. I picked up a purse which had uneven oval patches roughly, unevenly & crudely sawn onto existing rectangular patches (picture included). I asked why it was done this way and the lady at the front pleasantly dismissed it insisting she saw nothing wrong with this fix. The owner interfered & said I didn't have to pay the rest of 50% of cost. In 1st case I was not reimbursed & was charged full cost, in 2nd-i paid 50%. As much as I support small businesses, i associate them with I honesty & service. Unfortunately, based on this experience, I don't consider Clawson Shoe Repair provides good nor honest service. Very happy with the service here for a couple reasons. 1. it is quality work for the price - to get heels on a pair of shoes repaired cost me 11 dollars, which would have been cheaper except the heel shaft needed some work too. 2. the folks at Clawson shoe repair are really honest - brought in a BUNCH of shoes and got an honest opinion as to what could and could not be fixed so I didn't spend any unnecessary money 3. service is really quick. I don't get many shoes repaired that often. this is my second time here. my work dress wingtips needed a resole a few years ago. no problems. in fact I don't even remember which shoes they did it to. they look original. this time I had some dress casual leather Clarks resoled. they were ready when promised and polished as well (included in resole price of $45). the tread was aftermarket but better than new as they had some tread to them instead of some water dispursing type lines that offer little traction in snow. My friend recommended this place, I dropped off a pair of boots (one needed new heels) the other was a bootie that my fat foot split the seam at the top. They said they would reinforce/patch underneath and then stitch the top to secure. I paid in full at drop off (also pricing is dirt cheap!) and when I got it back there was cash in my shoe! So if you are old, lame and practical like me, visit the Clawson Shoe Repair shop and get your shoes fixed for a few bucks. New soles on a pair of dress shoes were $10 per pair. And refinishing an uncommon brown colored shoe was $8 for the pair. They even fixed my wifes coat zipper for $5. I was looking for a place I could trust my boots with that wouldn't end up costing me more than the original price of said boots. Then I was recommended to this shoe repair and was pleasantly surprised. It isn't much for ambiance or esthetics but they seem to do quality work and have very reasonable prices. Even though there was a line out the door when I dropped my boots off (a good sign of a good place!) the man who worked on my boots remembered me a week later when I picked them up. I brought in my pair of beloved Wolverine 1000 Mile boots. Not cheap, but my favorite pair of shoes/boots by far, and I hope to have them for a long time. I had previously had a half sole put on at a different cobbler; they did an OK job. The previously applied half sole had worn through, and the heel was starting to show some wear. The gentleman who greeted me took a quick look over the boots, and said the heel may still be good, but he would do a new half sole. I told him to replace the heel if he saw fit. I came back a few days later, and I was floored when he brought my boots out. They looked brand new! The new half sole and heel looked great, possibly better than original, and he had cleaned up the pair very nicely. The edge of the sole looks as good as new, and I don't think anyone but an experienced cobbler could tell that any work has been done. I was very satisfied with the price, quality of work, and speed of service. I will recommend Clawson Shoe Repair to any friends or family that need shoe repair (or general leather repair). read more

Hubby took his phone carrying case there because the magnet kept sliding around (where the closure tab is). They positioned the magnet and sewed it in place. Now it closed as intended. They are inexpensive and can fix a variety of stuff. I have a horse bridle that needs a longer leather strap/buckle so I will see if they can do that for me.
