The food wasn't bad, but ordering it to go was probably my mistake. If you want the best flavor, I definitely recommend dining in, especially if you're ordering pizza. By the time I got home, the pizza was cold and difficult to chew. I'm sure it would have been much better if it had been served fresh. The mezes were also packed together, so they ended up mixing with each other. It would be nicer if they were stored in separate containers. The chicken, however, was really good. I'll definitely be coming back to eat there in person and enjoy everything fresh.

Clay & Fire had been on my list to try for a while, and the atmosphere definitely lived up to expectations. My favorite part was the overall vibe and the beautiful views. The food presentation was gorgeous, with fun and eccentric plating, and the decor throughout the building really makes you feel transported somewhere else. The menu also offers a great variety of appetizers that would work well for both small and large groups. Unfortunately, even with reservations, we still had to wait to be seated. The portions were on the smaller side, and some of the flavors felt a little off. The standout dish for me was the soup

Ok I found my favorite KC restaurant. Btw, the owner likes to sit up front and he informed us that their online reservation system only allows them to book 60% of the restaurant, so 99% of the time, they can accommodate for walk ins every night. Good to know because we've been trying to get in here since they opened. Their menu online is not the same menu in person. I was a little concerned looking at the online menu, thinking it was a bit odd--a ton of dips and barely any entrees or foods with sustenance, but were so happy to see their full menu. We got their dip platter, kabob platter, and their short rib special. Everything, I mean, everything was fresh, delicious, and I loved the smoke flavor on the meats. Everything is cooked to order and on an open flame and the flavors.... THE FLAVORS. Can't wait to come back.

Came here around 5:30 on a Friday without a reservation and were able to get seated right away! We sat on the patio/sunroom type area and was good vibes. The tables were a little tight together but still had a good amount of space. Our server was great in giving us recommendations for what to order. It was explained that everything is cooked over an open flame so may have different cook times but everything came out super fast. Everything tasted super fresh and was cooked great!

Charming space and concept overall. I enjoyed the experience, but personally don't think I'd return. However I see why it was busy on a Tuesday. The vibe is great and I just love open fire cooking. . My favorite parts were the starters, the feta, hummus, etc. and the chicken kebab. I wish I could recreate the chicken kebob and buy the feta and hummus at the grocery store. The short rib was tough and dry, and the polenta wasn't great. Maybe I got a bad version but I wouldn't recommend it at all. Solid 4 stars.

"C" IS FOR CLAY AND FIRE. There's something about @clayandfirekc that surpasses just "going to dinner". It was a lovely afternoon outside on an actual front porch with birds singing and flowers blooming. The warmth from the sun and the breeze making your drink that much more refreshing--the food even more tasty. For an appetizer we shared the most delicious hummus that was paired with the best scooping utensil a girl could ask for: bread (flatbread). We also got an order of the grilled halloumi (grilled cheese!) absolutely amazing yummy goodness. My main course was the Kharcho. The short rib and polenta had so much zingy flavor and was comforted the soul. There's definitely a reason this restaurant books out weeks in advance. They don't cut corners and it's obvious they love what they do. The food is made exactly how it should be (y'all know I don't just say that either lol). If I have anything negative to say at all is that it's pretty expensive for what it is. With that said, this restaurant and food "genera"is unique to the KC area. There's not a lot of Mid East restaurants that are sourcing locally and putting out such an amazing product. Because of that this is a must go-to. You won't be disappointed!

Can't recommend this place enough! We tried one item from each category and shared. Our favorite was the grandmas pizza and dip trio. Everything was fresh and delicious. The patio was a little bit loud but we still enjoyed our time.

Being Persian, I was beyond excited to find a restaurant featuring Persian cuisine. I wanted to love this and was so disappointed. The restaurant features foods from the Near East, which was defined by our server as Iran, Iraq, Turkey, Afghanistan, and India. Anyone from the Middle East would've been appalled at the gummy, cold rice served; my Grandmother would have sent it back. I ordered Iranian specialty Kabob Kubideh and it was ok. The jujeh (chicken brochettes) had no lemon or saffron flavors. I asked for sumac for my kubideh and it was bitter and stale, not tart as it should have been to compliment the meat. The place was cute and cozy and the staff was very friendly. However, the food should've been the shining star and it just disappointed.

I have so many pictures from this place and have had yet to review it, which is a shame because it's one of my favorite places in the city! I love how cute and intimate it is here. My husband and I love sitting on the patio in the warmer months - and were recently seated in the enclosed patio! The Grandma Pizza is one of the absolute best pizzas in the city!! Hannah has kindly served us multiple times and been great at recommending drinks - which are also some of the best in the city!

Updating to 5 stars after multiple consistently stellar visits. The food is just THAT good. Two words: GRANDMAS PIZZA

    Kebab Plate - koobideh kebab

came with a couple friends and we got the mixed meze plate, Turkish pizza, and a koobideh kebab plate to split. Every single bite was shockingly delicious. Easily the best meal I've had so far this year. The service was great as well & the restaurant itself is very cool & well designed. What a remarkable experience.

My order was out super fast and it was accurate. I ordered the KC Döner Style Wrap: a blend of beef & lamb, tomatoes, lettuce, onions, sumac, and parsley, all wrapped in a tortilla and finished with house-made garlic yogurt sauce inside. OMG! It blew my expectations out of the water. I could've eaten 20 of these. It was so good. The meat was tender and flavorful. The tortilla was light but held everything together perfectly. And the garlic sauce was delicious. Highly recommend! I also added on 3 dolmas: grape leaves stuffed with rice. They were tasty but the wrap was above and beyond my favorite. I'll definitely return!

It was a small touch, but it immediately conveyed a level of attentiveness and professionalism. The highlight of the evening was the service. Kareem was exceptional. He didn't simply take our order--he guided us through the entire experience. His knowledge of the menu was impressive, from explaining dishes in detail to recommending wine pairings that complemented the meal perfectly. He checked on us consistently without ever being intrusive and genuinely made us feel welcome. He wasn't just selling food; he was representing the restaurant and the overall dining experience, and he did so exceptionally well. The restaurant itself strikes a wonderful balance between sophisticated and approachable. It feels upscale without being pretentious. I appreciated the attention to detail throughout the space, including the beautiful brass accents above the bar. The patio looked inviting, although the summer heat made indoor seating the better choice during our visit. The food arrived surprisingly quickly, and every dish we ordered was outstanding. Some of the selections were served chilled, which likely contributed to the speed, but nothing felt rushed. The quality and presentation were excellent. My only minor caution is parking. Depending on when you arrive, you may need to park a couple of blocks away and walk. It's not a deal-breaker, but it's worth planning for. If you're unfamiliar with the area, it may be helpful to call ahead and ask for parking recommendations. I would absolutely return and highly recommend it to anyone looking for a memorable night out.

We didn't have reservations and were dressed casually. The hostess was friendly and welcoming, and we were seated in what was referred to as the "other dining room," down a dark hallway into a musty, warm, and humid space. Service was prompt and courteous, but the food was very disappointing. We were served a cucumber salad that oddly tasted like peanuts, followed by six completely flavorless meatballs--no seasoning at all, not even salt. The prices might be reasonable if the quality matched expectations, but it didn't. The contrast between the main dining room and the "other room" also felt stark and uncomfortable, as if it were a second-tier seating area. Overall, I would not recommend this restaurant based on this experience.
