Apparently, I need to cross the river into the city more often. Why did no one tell me about Nour's KC in Hyde Park? Holy falafel, Batman. This place is not only gorgeous ... ... but it's some of the best Middle Eastern food I've had in Kansas City. Everything was fresh, ridiculously flavorful, and seasonal. The watermelon feta salad deserved its own standing ovation. (It was a meal in itself.) And the lamb burrito? Just order it. Don't ask questions. Trust the process. Oh, and if you skip the baba ganoush with a basket of piping-hot pita? That's a character flaw I'll let you work through on your own. Next on my list: Beirut Taco near KU Med. Same owners, I'm told. I think I found one of new favorites here in KC! Went here for a light dinner and I was really impressed with my mocktails, burrito, and the baba ghanoush. Everything was fresh, tasty, and plentiful. Wow!! This place is amazing!! A friend of mine turned me onto Nour's, where we met for dinner before a play. The ambience here is very cool. I love the decor and the bench style seating with the rugs. He was already seated and had ordered something to drink when I arrived so I did not catch our servers name, but she was excellent. I'm a huge fan of Lebanese cuisine for over 30 years and this stuff is good! They absolutely know what they're doing and I appreciate that. The hummus here is super creamy and heavy on the tahini, which I love. It's not too heavy on the lemon or garlic like other places. I had the chicken Shawarma burrito, which was outstanding! The jalapeño sauce was magnificent. I don't care for garlic sauce, but if I did, theirs was good. My friend had a lamb and rice with mint sauce and he enjoyed it very much. I had one bite of the excellent and tender lamb. Nour's sits right in front of the 39th St. Apartments that were converted from a school. It's up on the parking deck. Kind of hard to find but stick with it. The payoff is worth it. read more

Phenomenal food! Such a unique, fun atmosphere. Great service. Lots of fun cocktails and mocktails including a seasonal rotation. We tried a little bit of everything including the hummus, baked feta, chicken shawarma burrito, and Laban emmo (slow cooked lamb with yogurt sauce and vermicelli rice). If you're looking for something beyond the usual brunch, NOUR'S is worth a visit. My friends and I could not decide what we wanted to order. So instead, the three of us shared the Green Shakshuka Skillet (my choice cause it had a green sauce kick) the Armenian Breakfast Burrito, and the Kunafa French Toast. Each dish burst with flavor, blending familiar ingredients with Lebanese spices in a way that felt both unique and memorable. The space is roomy and comfortable with plenty of fenced in parking. Our server, Karter, was attentive and professional, made the experience even more enjoyable. Our only disappointment was the specialty drinks, which were average compared to the food. The cuisine is the real star here, and I'll definitely be back to try their lunch and dinner menus. Food alone makes NOUR'S a destination worth visiting. read more

I got a gift card for my brother for Christmas to Nour's and since we were going to be on the plaza for a candlelight concert, we thought we'd make a full date night out of it at Nour's. First impression - we were a bit surprised. We're so used to doing order at the counter places with Lebanese food in Kansas City so it was a nice change to have a more refined seated restaurant experience. We did have reservations, which we needed, at 7:15 PM on a Friday. We were seated right away and given water. And then the service went down a little bit. The bus and hostess came by probably eight or so minutes after we sat down to see if we want any water and if she could grab us any appetizers. I got Coke and my fiancé got a hot tea. It was really cold in there. Something was going on with the HVAC unit with it being so warm outside. We ordered the muhummara to try something different. That came out relatively quickly with our drinks. It was tasty, but I probably wouldn't order it again. I was trying to be adventurous, but I didn't like it as much as I like a hummus or baba ghanoush. But then we waited. We had almost finished our dip when our actual waitress finally showed up around 25 minutes after we were seated. She asked how we were doing and I said OK and she started to leave the table and my fiancé stopped to say hey we're actually ready to order dinner. I thought she was finally greeting us, but apparently she was going to take our order. Anyway, I got the zaatar milanese with fries and he got the chicken Shawarma burrito. That also came out quickly. Both were good, but I ultimately preferred his burrito. The sandwich was just a little messy and I should've been more adventurous. Again, we waited a little bit for somebody clear dishes and I did ask about dessert and I said we'll just try all your Turkish delights, cause it's one of my fiancé's favorite things, and she's like oh well we have 13 flavors at which point she didn't say what flavors they had, she just said I can bring you four of my favorites. I said ok. That took her a while to do and so when she brought the dessert, I ended up giving her the gift card for dinner and she went away again for a while. When she came back, she said technically you weren't supposed to use that gift card in store, only online, which I thought was wild, but she forced it through. At this point, we need to hoof it because I'd given us an hour and a half for dinner thinking that would be more than enough time considering the fact that our meal was pretty straightforward. And while food came out really quickly, the service just wasn't where it needed to be. She was sweet and added a macaron to our dessert plate to say thank you for our patience with how slow it was, but it seemed everyone else around us was getting very good service so I don't know what happened. All in all, I would certainly go back, but don't have it before a planned event because you may end up having to run out of there because it takes so long. read more

Loved trying this new restaurant yesterday! I sat on the patio and the server was so friendly. He brought me a lemonade on the house while I waited for my friend. The patio was so spacious and nice, but we ended up moving inside after a bit. The drinks were refreshing but not very strong. I had a margarita and my friend tried a cocktail as well. I showed up with zero idea except that it was Lebanese food. Boy was I overjoyed to walk in to the fun, colorful and bright aesthetic! And the menu!?! I wanted to order everything. This place is very cute! The atmosphere and decorations blended beautifully and was thoroughly picked because the attention to detail was amazing. It was a bit busy when we went and we got seating at the bar which was perfect as we still got to hear the music. I got the steak batata and it was alright. The sauce was a vinegary and gave it a unique taste but nothing special and the portions were quite small. The bloody mary's were amazing tho! The service was also decent. It took a bit for someone to greet us and there's no waiting area in the front for guests waiting to stand so it's a bit awkward being crowded when the rest of the restaurant is staring. If you are looking for an interesting, different restaurant with a healthy, tasty menu, put Nour's on your list. The Lebanese/Middle Eastern cuisine is fresh, full of flavor, uniquely spiced, and comforting. Our table enjoyed Muhammara (red pepper dip), goat cheese truffles (very mild and served with three different spice coatings), and pita for starters. We loved it all! For entrees, we ordered the chicken and steak kabobs, lamb burrito, and Samke Harra (baked branzino with tahini sauce). Everything was amazing! We were seated close to the exit door that goes out to the restrooms, which was quite chilly on a 5 degree evening, but the restaurant is quite warm and inviting otherwise. The food came out quickly. While the wine and cocktail list is not very large, they do offer a very reasonable $10 corkage fee, so plan to bring your own if desired. I am planning to keep Nour on my restaurant rotation. Nour's is a large stylish space with a main dining area, an outdoor deck, a bar and a few tables in back of the bar hidden by the kitchen. This is where I was seated and it put a bit of a damper on my experience, since there was plenty of seating in the large elegant dining area. I snarkily voiced my displeasure to my waitress about the hostess seating me at the worst table in the place and soon a manager came with an apology and an offer to end my solo segregation and kitchen view, but my food had been served so I declined. All is forgiven since the issue was addressed, apologized for and a promise of better seating upon my return visit. Will there be a return visit? Oh yes there will be! I ordered from the Brunch menu on an early Saturday afternoon. I had to google some of the ingredients but chose the Armenian Burrito. The eggs and potatoes I understood, but "spicy sujuk" and "basturma" were new to my vocabulary. Basturma is cured lamb meat and sujuk is a fermented lamb sausage. I did hesitate before ordering a dish with a fermented meat, but I pulled the trigger and so happy that i did. With a side cup of labne crema - spiced yogurt for dipping or covering this was one of the most memorable flavor combinations I've ever experienced. The wrap was grilled perfectly and had a crispness and buttery coating and tons of ingredients making for a very large serving. Beautiful space, amazing food and great customer service and follow up. Nour's is absolutely one of my favorite places to eat at when I'm visiting Kansas City. I'm surprised it's not blown up yet. All four different types of kabobs are packed with mouth watering flavors and beautifully charred. We ordered it without the rice. I wish I could bring it on the flight home with me. The restaurant is clean, trendy, and has lots of seating/parking. I had the salad,(second time getting that dish-wonderful dressing) and then I had the dish veggie dish with carmelized onions, citrus cabbage and grains. My daughter and I went for lunch. Nour's had been on my list since they opened. What a gem! I had the pulled lamb burrito and my daughter had the chicken burrito. We shared the goat cheese feta truffles served with warm, fresh pita triangles. Everything was amazing! Only misstep on our part was assuming the lentil tabbouleh was a combination of traditional tabbouleh with lentils added. It's strictly lentils so be aware if you're not a huge fan of lentils. We had heard so much about this place and were excited to try it. The food was really good. We got the baba ghanouge, chicken schwarma burrito and grilled chicken skewer plate. The burrito was really big and had great flavor and the baba ghanouge was good. But we had a terrible experience all around with the service. The server greeted us when we sat down but never came back. We had to flag her down 20 minutes later, then she was really short with us. Our waters were never refilled and we had to walk to the front to ask for more water. We asked for boxes to pack our leftovers, including little sauce containers. But she didn't give us a bag. As we juggled our boxes leaving the restaurant, one of the sauce containers fell to the floor, leaving a small mess. Some of the sauce had splattered on us as well. We looked up and saw the host just standing there with a disgusted look on his face. He didn't even offer to help. We had to ask him for napkins to wipe ourselves down as he was looking at us up and down. He didn't notify the staff there was a spill, we had to do it. A variety of sweets from Turkey are kept at the front counter- you need to stop there and choose one for your dessert. They have beautiful Turkish Delight rolls including one covered in rose petals! Natural light, spacious setting with many plants and books and wood. Concrete floors are a bit noisy but also feel organic. Kind and attentive staff.
