We've been coming to Sahara Mediterranean Food for years, and it's just as good as I remember! The fries are so yummy--hot, fresh, and perfectly cooked every time. The hummus is also hot, fresh, and delicious, and the pita bread is soft and warm, which makes everything even better. There are many different serving options to choose from, so it's easy to find something you'll love. They bring your food to the table, but service beyond that is limited--however, the workers are always super nice and welcoming, which we really appreciate. Overall, it's a consistently great spot that we'll keep coming back to.

Rear dining area. Nice and quiet. Very clean restaurant.

Another great lunch. I look forward to coming here. [[HIGHLIGHT]]Every time the restaurant is clean and the staff is welcoming.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] [[HIGHLIGHT]]I like the paintings on the walls.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] This time I tried the lamb kebabs, and I am glad I did. The kebabs were grilled perfectly and tasted great. The hummus wa creamy and the lime pepper flavor was amazing. The pita's were grilled and still nice and soft. I loved the tabbouleh, it was fresh and bright. I can't wait to come back next time I am in town.

A very good hummus and pita!

The good: This place is 45+ minutes from my house! The bad: This place is 45+ minutes from my house! It was a Sunday (Gyro's apparently don't exist on Sundays) and this is exactly what we were in the mood for. Since we were headed to Powell Gardens, we decided to grab a little lunch first, and Greek came to mind. So we stopped by two places just to find them closed. Then we got smart and did a search along our route. This is one of the few that was open. Well, let me tell you when we pulled up and this was in a little strip mall behind a gas station... I did not have high hopes. But, that was me judging a book by its cover! This place is fantastic! [[HIGHLIGHT]]The first thing I noticed was how clean and well-organised the place was. Top marks right there![[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] [[HIGHLIGHT]]It was decorated nicely. Not over crowded and a great feel (vibe if you are under 40).[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] The next thing to rave about is how quick and efficient the staff was. This is not a huge place, yet they still do the numbers that you take to your table and deliver your food. That is a little extra that is well appreciated in my book. And I love it when a place does the little extras. And then the part you have been wondering about... the food. Well, the hummus was good. And then the Gyros showed. It is hands down the BEST I have ever had in the KC area. THE BEST. No question in my mind! So... I'll be taking those long drives just to get to this place and have some more wonderful food! Maybe I'll see you there!

    Burnt Lamb Combo Platter

I've had ok food here nothing compared to humans and pita in OP. Lamb was dry burnt and fatty, falafel dry even drowned in tazeki. Never coming again after this time. I live in lees summit, but just drive to OP so I can have edible Mediterranean.

Absolutely LOVED the chicken Shawarma Combo and the Greek salad as the side. So much so next time I just got a big salad with chicken and it was DELICIOUS! The Variety Baklava was a great little treat after too. Definitely need to add extra green sauce, I love it on everything! I didn't love the Hummus alone but I'm impartial to spicy and flavored versions so adding the green sauce made it amazing to me.

Listen... when I tell you that the hummus was so fresh and smooth like butter, the falafel was so delicious and light, and the pistachio baklava flaky and melt-in-your-mouth delicious with the perfect hint of rosewater... I need you to understand that I mean what I say! Not only was the food hot and fresh but the service was kind and welcoming and there was ample space for us to find a spot to eat. I don't live in the area but the next time I come there I will for sure be back. FYI - the french fries were perfectly made, and they had an unexpected spice on them. They also has unsweetened iced tea

Delicious! Food was plentiful and tasty. We both ordered the beef gyro platter. Hubby also got a side salad (ice berg lettuce). Restaurant is clean with lots of seating. Not hardly anyone there which can be alarming. They're just missing out in a good thing. Will definitely be back.

I'm a huge fan of Mediterranean food. We have a favorite place back home in Las Vegas that we always go to. I looked up this place and Lee's Summit and here we are. Mmmmm!!! : ) That's all I got to say!! I ordered the lamb and chicken kabob. And it hit the spot. Come on by and get this a try!!

Falafel Combo with baba ghanoush substituted for tabouli (also including 1 pita).

Raving reviews led me here in my search for Greek food in the Lee's Summit/Independence area. Located only 5 min. from Lee's Summit Medical Center, it is ideal for plant-based & healthy meals! I was trying to decide between the Vegetable Combo (appetizer) & Falafel Combo. Upon my arrival, I discovered the Falafel Combo was discounted at lunch and customizable! So, I ordered that substituting in baba ghanoush. I was ordering it to go, and the lady who helped me explained how I could get what I wanted in the Falafel Combo & she had it ready to go quickly. Ordering on-line would include a $3 convenience fee, or you can come in and put that towards a tip or more food...maybe baklava (wink, wink). The portion size was good (leaving some left overs for me). I enjoyed it & it's exactly what I was looking for. The rice was nice & soft. The hummus & falafel were my favorite of the combo. The only thing I would change is having warm pita bread and including 2 instead of 1 with what I ordered. However, it appears you can simply order one more pita for $1. And, I may be able to request warmed pita next time. So, these are likely easy adjustments. The ambiance is comfy & casual, with seat yourself booths and table seating. Next time, I will have to try the pistachio baklava that is such a fan favorite! Obviously, giving a 5 star review, I recommend Sahara Mediterranean (for takeout or dining in). Try an old favorite & try something new...You won't regret it!

Everything about this place is Grade A. And the tazitki?! The best. Their chicken was juicy and tender.

What a neat little place run by big hearted people. Stopped in today for a beef and lamb gyro and…read morea chicken shawarma sandwich. It is all made fresh. The gyro was packed with meat, and the pita was fresh and warm. It has tzatzika sauce on the gyro and there some additional sauce on the plate. It is a big serving. We also had a chicken Sharma. It is in a wrap. The chicken was tender and the filling was good. It also had some hummus on the plate. If I could I would make one change, that being to put it on a pita - however, there is so much meat that it would not be close to fitting. Nice and enjoyable lunch out with great food.

Chicken Gyro (no tzatziki) - Large, well-grilled pita with tomatoes. Simple and solid--this is why we came. It delivered for her--she was in a full-on food coma after. (4/5) Beef/Lamb Gyro - Enormous--one of the biggest I've had. Nice grilled crust on the pita, tasty meat. (4/5) Wish it came with diced onions, and the tomatoes were diced instead of sliced. Tzatziki is a bit thinner and slightly off from what I'm used to. But on mine, there was some on the sandwich and a side--hadn't seen that before. It actually worked well, kept the meat moist--without making it mushy--and let me add more as needed. Added sambal for heat, which helped. Kebab Platter - Mixed bag. Steak kebab was solid (medium rare), minced kebab was decent (in between), chicken was just okay. Rice was very dry--I think I noticed some sumac on top, but either way it didn't help. The salad was excellent--fresh with a lot of pop. Not something I'd order again, but if I did, I'd eat the salad with the rice and kebabs instead of starting with it. It adds the moisture and pop the rest of the plate is missing. That said, each component should stand on its own. (3/5) Overall: 4/5 Gyros carry. Salad and steak kebab were nice, but the platter didn't land. I'd stick to gyros or just do a steak kebab plate next time.

(Parts from original review 10/13/2022) * OMGOODNESS!…read more We soooo enjoyed our meal here. This restaurant serves up huge portions and extremely delicious Mediterranean fare. I'm always taking food home. The fresh vegetables they served in our salads were positively the freshest we've enjoyed outside of our home. The Lamb was magnificent! Also the falafel and the hummus were the best we've ever had. Smooth and savory, without being too acidic and overpowering with lemon. The entire meal was unforgettable in a great way! We'll be loyal patrons for life! So glad they opened this location so close to our home. They also serve up the best fresh squeezed lemonade ice ever had... I ordered the mint flavored lemonade. However, they have cherry, strawberry, and blueberry as well.. all fresh made to order. Only one size... about 32 ounces... also enough to share! We highly recommend at "any hour", always hot, and always fresh to order! A must try!

Using Yelp to find a healthy lunch for myself and some fellow pickleball moms, I came across Jerusalem Cafe. It was super close to the venue, I could order online, and it had some delicious looking options. Plus in addition to the great reviews, I saw a local family enjoying their Jerusalem Cafe order which cemented my decision. I went with a Greek Salad + Chicken Gyro for myself and ordered a "Build a Bowl" for one friend and another Greek Salad another friend. I also ordered a hummus with veggies for us to share. Everything was ready for pick-up when I arrived. Service was friendly and I found the pricing to be fair - especially for the large portions. It was around $45 total for all of the above. We enjoyed everything we ordered as well as the pita it came with. Was it the best I've ever had? No. Was it perfect for the occasion. Absolutely. I would definitely consider ordering from here again or even dining in as the restaurant is fast casual, offers plenty of parking, and appeared clean. Thanks Jerusalem Cafe!
