The food here is very good. The falafel is crispy on the outside and fluffy on the inside. Very generous pieces. Not your typical round shape but more of a tube/long shape which really works great for dipping them in tzatziki. We also had grape leaves which come warm. Yummy! We had a chicken shawarma and gyro entree. Both came with rice, salad, pita, and hummus. All very good. My one criticism is I prefer my protein sliced more thinly instead of a thick cut. It's a texture issue for me. The thicker, the chewier. The chicken also had a bit of chewy skin. It could have had more flavor. Still good but this is what made my review 4 instead of 5 stars. I thought the gyro had a little more flavor than the chicken. You order at the counter and then they walk your food out to you when it's gone. Our two appetizers came out very quickly. Our entrees just a few minutes later. Service was smooth and very good. The guys working there were all friendly. Great service! Good food but when ordering online they can forget to give you items in your order. This has happened twice. Last time they forgot 2 soft drinks at $3 each. They said it wasn't on the order. I showed them the online confirmation and they they gave us the drinks. The other time was that they did not give us an order of Baba ghanoush which we didn't notice until we got home. read more

We've been coming to Sahara Mediterranean Food for years, and it's just as good as I remember! The fries are so yummy--hot, fresh, and perfectly cooked every time. The hummus is also hot, fresh, and delicious, and the pita bread is soft and warm, which makes everything even better. There are many different serving options to choose from, so it's easy to find something you'll love. They bring your food to the table, but service beyond that is limited--however, the workers are always super nice and welcoming, which we really appreciate. It was a Sunday (Gyro's apparently don't exist on Sundays) and this is exactly what we were in the mood for. Since we were headed to Powell Gardens, we decided to grab a little lunch first, and Greek came to mind. So we stopped by two places just to find them closed. Then we got smart and did a search along our route. This is one of the few that was open. Well, let me tell you when we pulled up and this was in a little strip mall behind a gas station... I did not have high hopes. But, that was me judging a book by its cover! This place is fantastic! [[HIGHLIGHT]]The first thing I noticed was how clean and well-organised the place was. This is not a huge place, yet they still do the numbers that you take to your table and deliver your food. That is a little extra that is well appreciated in my book. I've had ok food here nothing compared to humans and pita in OP. Lamb was dry burnt and fatty, falafel dry even drowned in tazeki. Never coming again after this time. I live in lees summit, but just drive to OP so I can have edible Mediterranean. read more

Fantastic. I've never had a bad meal here, or even a mediocre one. Interestingly, I think they have the best french fries in Lee's Summit, which I would not expect from this type of place. Another minor anecdote: their mix ratio on the Coke machine is fantastic, best in the city if you're a fan of Coca-Cola. Great hummus, highly recommend the chicken dishes in particular. read more

Absolutely LOVED the chicken Shawarma Combo and the Greek salad as the side. So much so next time I just got a big salad with chicken and it was DELICIOUS! Listen... when I tell you that the hummus was so fresh and smooth like butter, the falafel was so delicious and light, and the pistachio baklava flaky and melt-in-your-mouth delicious with the perfect hint of rosewater... Raving reviews led me here in my search for Greek food in the Lee's Summit/Independence area. Located only 5 min. from Lee's Summit Medical Center, it is ideal for plant-based & healthy meals! I was trying to decide between the Vegetable Combo (appetizer) & Falafel Combo. Upon my arrival, I discovered the Falafel Combo was discounted at lunch and customizable! So, I ordered that substituting in baba ghanoush. I was ordering it to go, and the lady who helped me explained how I could get what I wanted in the Falafel Combo & she had it ready to go quickly. Ordering on-line would include a $3 convenience fee, or you can come in and put that towards a tip or more food...maybe baklava (wink, wink). The portion size was good (leaving some left overs for me). I enjoyed it & it's exactly what I was looking for. The rice was nice & soft. The hummus & falafel were my favorite of the combo. The only thing I would change is having warm pita bread and including 2 instead of 1 with what I ordered. However, it appears you can simply order one more pita for $1. And, I may be able to request warmed pita next time. So, these are likely easy adjustments. The ambiance is comfy & casual, with seat yourself booths and table seating. Next time, I will have to try the pistachio baklava that is such a fan favorite! Obviously, giving a 5 star review, I recommend Sahara Mediterranean (for takeout or dining in). Had lunch with a friend here. The food was great, the staff was great. Will be back for sure.

Thought we would try it out for a second time. Walked in there. Put our order in. Asked if we could switch something out. The guy said absolutely not okay. Maybe he's a stickler because the first time they were allowed us to switch something out had to use the restroom, [[HIGHLIGHT]]went into the restroom zero toilet paper at all. We're stuck having to walk across the bathroom with my pants down to my ankles to grab hand towels.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] After having to do that, a couple times went to go wash. [[HIGHLIGHT]]My hand soap dispenser is out of soap. Finally able to get enough out to wash my hands.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] Went out outside to speak to. What was the manager running the place at the time to let him know that that was embarrassing to having to do that and I was like what happened if your Cooks had to use the restroom in his rifai was well. Maybe they didn't have to use the restroom at all today so that tells me that nobody's washed their hands. Nobody's went into the restroom to check on it at all. Grossed me out. Couldn't even eat my food ask for a refund and they said they couldn't give me a refund at that point in time. They would have to do it in a day or two. Will never go back to that place again If I could give it a negative star it would get a negative 10 read more

Lame. The falafel was undercooked, The fattoush was swimming in oil and had an imbalance of ingredients. It seemed as if the salad was made it the night before, judging from its lack of freshness and soggy pita strips. The help was sullen and bored, and the prices were very high. They bill themselves as a casual restaurant. Their approach to food and service certainly is. Management needs to take a field trip to Brookside or Prarie Village on the Kansas side to see how Meddys does it and steal some ideas. read more

The portions were generous and each component was tasty enough to stand on its own. Our table ordered the baklava sampler for $6. Absolutely stunning Mediterranean food - I haven't tried others in the area yet as this was my first since moving to Lee's Summit but they've set the bar so high I don't think I feel any need to try other places yet. Absolute perfection comes out of this kitchen. The downside is that their phone line is constantly always down or busy so placing an order is often difficult. I haven't eaten inside the restaurant yet but maybe I will sometime soon to figure out their atmosphere outside of my own kitchen table. In any case - I love this place.
