Took my wife's car in for brake service twice and after both times brakes still had an issue. Before trying to take car in for the THIRD time for same issue, I asked if they could loan my wife an SUV since we have three children in car seats. You would have thought I'd them to provide a private car service. I brought my brand new (3 months old) suburban to them to get a warrantied part fixed. I bought it to them twice and once for a whole day after the part came in (ended up being the wrong part they ordered), it never got fixed, and ended with them never returning my numerous emails/voicemails. Eek! Like someone mentioned in their review, terrible lack of respect for people's time. I already wasted an hour with the service department and I don't want to spend more time on giving the more detailed review about my visit. But, still trying to give the review with more context. I am not in a mood beautify my sentences or follow the grammar. So here you go... I got a call from clay cooley for a service recall, booked an appointment at 2pm, got permission from MY WORK, made it to claycooley service dept. before 2pm, no one seem to care why I was there, I was letting someone who works there know that I was there for an appointment, he asks for email, I show him the email, he says the person who sent the email to me QUIT THE JOB 3 DAYS BEFORE he sent me an email (haha), I call the number in my email, been told to wait for someone, that someone shows up, says there are 2 service recalls, he can do one of the services ONLY EARLY IN THE MORNING, other service will take time and I have to leave my car and wait for few days, those days depends on the availability I may or may not get replacement car until mine gets ready. On top of all these, this person shows me what the service recalls are, asks me whether I have 3-6 year old, I say no. he says then THE SERVICE IS NOT IMPORTANT NOW and says other service he can only work on earlier in the morning. I mention I had an appointment for this, he says that appointment is only to drop off the car, also says just because I have an appointment he can't come and look at my car and in reality that won't happen and stuff, then I started wondering why they made me to get an appointment at the first place. Realizing nothing can be done today (or in the future) for my car, I was thinking of showing my frustration but didn't want to be mean to anyone and chose to leave the place with out having my car looked at and losing an hour of my work. Still furious about the visit and wanted to do something and realizing that I can't do sh**t about this situation and I have to suck it up like rest of the people in the world for lot's of issues in the world. RUN FAR AWAY! My husband and I drove 2 hours to come to the dealership. I was very excited, I had been searching for months and saving for 6 years to purchase my new car. I was working with Alex, the Internet manager, he assured me the car I was looking for was available and he would have it waiting for me at 1:00. I then received 5 calls from other sales people confirming the appointment at 1:00. We arrived at 12:45. (Less than 30 mins after speaking with everyone confirming the availability of the car.) We arrived to be told the car we drove 2 hours to buy was no longer available, apparently another couple had 'just walked in the door' and was trying to buy it. I understand you are in the business of selling cars to whomever walks in the door. However, it would have been nice to know there were other people looking at the car before we drove 2 HOURS to come to your dealership AND receiving multiple confirmations that the car was ready for us. The DISREGARD and DISRESPECT for our time and business was loud and clear. I now know why Clay Cooley has the worst reputation in DFW. Your sales associate did try to offer to sell me 'all of the other fabulous' cars on your lot. I didn't drive 2 hours to see other cars. And I doubt many of the other customers do either. I'm sorry I wasn't able to leave positive feedback from my experience at your dealership however, I had an amazing buying experience down the road with HILEY MAZDA- best people ever, the car I purchased 20 mins later from a welcoming and helpful sales associate, who did have the car I was looking for pulled up to the front door and waiting for us. I would not recommend this location. Thought financing was done. Had car for 3 weeks and the sales person Anthony called on a Friday evening at 8:30 telling me i needed to bring it back because financing didn't go through, which i was glad it didn't, because it was Exeter Finance which has bad reviews on the BBB. I asked how did it take 3 weeks to find that out. Was very rude, no apology and kept sending threatening emails. I have a part time job, so it was a inconvenience to just get in the car and go way to Irving at the drop of a hat. And to top it off he thought he was keeping my 1000.00 down payment! Again do not go to this location. If you want a car from Clay Cooley go to the Kia dealership. THEY ARE GREAT!!!!! i actually traded in my Forte which i purchased from them and upgraded to a Optima. We went into clay cooley looking to buy a 2014 chevy silverado. We told them what we could afford and he price range we wanted. At first the sales manager was really nice, but after turning down trucks and prices they got frustrated and the manager came out and tried to sell us some used trucks dating back to 2009. After about 3 hours there he told us that we couldn't get the truck we wanted and that trying to get that truck would be like trying to get a Ferrari on our budget!!!!!! Today (sat) we came to FRIENDLY Chevrolet and the people here are amazing. We worked out a deal in less than an hour on a much better truck and it was thousands of dollars cheaper than at Clay Cooley. They talked us through all of the rebates that we were eligible for and they even gave us the bed liner and side-steps for free. They also provided us with free lunch while we waited. read more

I had a good experience. I got the car and color I wanted. I have to say there are bad salesman who don't listen to what you want but there are ones who care and want to make a customer for life. There for I had Doug help me. Because I do work for a car collection agency I am knowledgable in dealership tricks. I had gotten a car previous to my current job with clay Cooley and they had me upside down and paying 3x as much for a piece of junk. But Doug was able to take it as a trade in and get me into a brand new car. I told him my budget and he was able to work with that and got me the best interest rate to keep my payments the same. I do have to say we as people need to educate our selves in car loans and the buying process can seem to be a scam if you don't know what you are doing. Clay Cooley makes their money by scamming minorities into buying their cars at a high interest rate and then taking advantage of people on trade ins. They called me out of the blue to make a full cash offer on my 2008 Porsche Cayman S and then changed their tune into trying to sell me a car when I arrived. They offered me $10k under what my car was worth after telling me they were buying it for my asking price over the phone. I got out of there as quickly as possible. Their show room is disgusting with no furniture, pictures, water, coffee just a bunch of obese guys in very cheap suits trying to scam people. I reported them to the Better Business Bureau. They had a car I was interested in listed on multiple online sites. I called them to confirm that the car was still available and they told me it was. When I arrived a couple hours later they told me they just got the car in, so it was being inspected and was not available to be viewed. I told them I could come back when ever it was available. They later changed their story and said the car was moved to one of there other dealerships and sold a few days ago. They did try to sell me a car that was older had more miles and was $4000 more than the car advertised. Classic bait and switch. Buyer beware. read more

During the paperwork to purchase a vehicle, the price of the car, before TTL and everything, jumped from $16,000 to nearly $20,000. The fees were $2,500 because the car was certified and a $1,340 addendum for features such as nitrogen in the tires and paint protectant. These were not options and they were not included in the advertised price. I was told the fees were not negotiable. The GM of sales admitted there is a standard addendum from $1295-$1995 added to their vehicles. This is not included in the advertised prices. I assume my fees were much higher because this was a "flash Internet price" as they called it. Do not be fooled by their Internet prices. No other dealership I visited had these ridiculous added charges. After I sent emails to management, they attempted to solve this situation by offering to sell me any car at advertised price (every other deallership did this from the beginning), but said the vehicle I originally wanted had sold. I sent the info on the vehicle I wanted and the GM of sales(top person listed on their website) said that was fine(11am) and he would be there until 9pm. I told him I would be up there later. At 5pm, after I got a cashiers check and everything together to purchase the vehicle, I messaged him and told him I would be there shortly. He responded to tell me the vehicle I wanted had sold the day before. read more

Someone from Clay Cooley contacted me because I had a 2013 Ford F-150 pick up truck for sale."had a lot of call for trucks just like mine". I go there with my truck. Everyone is all smiley and friendly. Offer to give me more than $1000 less than I need for it. Sign all the papers take my truck. Haven't seen the check yet and it's been over a week. Was told " just bring in your clear title and we'll cut you a check. " Over a week later -- Where's my check!!!! First time I stopped by to get it. Chris wasn't in and no one else could handle it. 2nd time I stop in Chris is there but basically brushed me off. States he just got the title just now. And he will have the truck check if there are no problems he will "send the paperwork upstairs" wtf....,!!!!! Then they will issue me a check. I was never told this. I was told "bring in your clear title and we will issue you a check". I have sent multiple emails. No response. Does not answer phone. What do I do now???! They have my truck. These guys are a joke. I called early in the day and told the salesman I had a deal on a car with another dealership but wanted to see if they could match it on a car they had online. I explained if they couldn't I didn't want to waste my time or theirs. After 6 hours and emailing them all the docs they asked for I got a call "we can do it, come on down" so I drove over. I waited for 4 hours while they put it together. Mr Lopez (sales manager) comes out with the terms. They marked the vehicle up $3000 over the posted price and raised the interest by 3 points. I went off, telling them they were crazy. So they dropped the $3000 but they paymen stayed the same. I go to leave, get in my car and they call my cell asking me to come back in. I walk back in and stand there for 5 minutes but nobody comes over. So I walk back out and get in my truck. Then the salesman and finance guy run out the door to my truck. I get out and he tells me he will drop the payment $6 a month. Are you kidding me? I drove 60 miles to get this offer? I told them on the phone exactly what the deal HAD to be. He tells me that they are sorry but they just can't do it. What a crappy place. I worked in the dealership industry for 13 years so I'm educated on the process. These guys are criminal! I even told him I was aware he could legally raise the interest rate above what the bank quotes and he admits that yes he can raise it by 2% by law to make more profit. The only reason they're getting 2 stars is because of Roland Lynn. He was great. If it weren't for him, they'd get one star. The sticker price on the car was cheaper than anyone else in the DFW area, but that was about it. I didn't feel appreciated. I also felt like I got screwed in the end. I had to wait for a long time after the monthly note was agreed upon before I made it to finance. Even though their is major construction going on, they didn't wash my car. I was stuck with having to literally BUFF the embedded dust out. You couldn't simply wash it out. You would think they would do a little something to make their customers feel appreciated besides fill up the tank, like maybe a car care kit, maybe include oil changes and tire rotations for a few years, or BOTH (like Vandergriff did) but I didn't even get matching key chains (like Vandergriff gave me). I felt like I was "lucky" to get a car with Clay Cooley.. With Vandergriff, they made me feel appreciated for doing business with them. read more

She purchased a 2015 Lexus IS350 and was under the impression that the car was in excellent condition considering it was used. Went in for selection and thought since it's a very large dealership, all would be done and easy. They wasted a good part of my day off only to come back with different terms than what we discussed. I had shopped other places and could have gotten things all squared away and been done. However you see the advertising by Clay Cooley - so I thought I would shop Clay. It was a total disappointment. I would try other dealerships. There are plenty in the area and I'm sure you can find one that will treat you fairly with less fees and frustration. I purchased a vehicle elsewhere and my customer service experience was night and day different. It's scary how many people buy cars at Clay Cooley because the haggling alone is a little tiresome. All the cliche issues people have with car dealerships are very much a part of the experience at Cooley. If you enjoy going back and forth only to be presented high costs and fees that are outrageously higher than what i paid at another dealership. When i say much higher - we are talking $1800 higher at Cooley than what i paid on my vehicle purchase. I hope this information is helpful because I wish someone would have told me about this dealership so i wouldn't have wasted my time. read more

This is my first ever Yelp review. Never thought I would have to do this. Bought our car here 8 months ago. And was told we would get a copy of our contract the next day when we would return to drop off a copy of the insurance. No copy of contract when we returned. Called a week later and was told it would be mailed out. Waited and still no contract. Came in for the first service went to reception and was given the run around again about getting a copy of our contract. 8 months later came back for the second service asked again the receptionist for a copy of the contract. She called over the intercom for finance to assist us. Now I've been sitting here waiting for 30 mins and still no one from finance has come out. Worst Customer Service EVER seriously people stay away. They don't deserve your business. Never thought something would be so bad to where I have to write a review. But I guess I had to "come see clay". All they care about is getting your money and getting you out the door. read more

Ok here we go. A few weeks ago I found a modestly priced vehicle online that I wanted to check out, I contacted the dealership, it was at a different Clay Cooley location. I was contacted by a salesperson about the car and asked to come to this location to test drive the vehicle. I agreed and made an appointment. I emailed my contact at the dealership to ensure that the vehicle I was interested in would be at the location I was going to (Chevrolet Galleria). They assured me that it would and they'd have it cleaned up and ready to go. Just to be safe I called again just before leaving to make sure it was there. They assured me it was. It wasn't there. I said I still wanted to see it and the sales person asked if my girlfriend and I wanted to go with her to the other location to look at it (40 minutes away and leaving my car at the galleria location). I said no, I'd rather that they go get it as I was assured multiple times that it would be there. In the mean time I asked to see any similar vehicles that were on the property. I was shown one vehicle that I was not interested in and it was $10,000 more than the one I had requested to test drive. After waiting for a very long time and being shown no additional vehicles, my salesperson finally left to go get the vehicle from the other location. While waiting the hour and a half for her to return I requested to be shown other cars on two separate occasions. Both times I was told someone would be with me shortly. Both times no one showed up and I was never shown any other cars. When the vehicle I was interested in finally arrived, it was in less that satisfactory condition (a lot of rust for a 2 year old vehicle) and hadn't even been cleaned. It was a pickup truck and the flat bed had a very noticeable layer of dirt in it. It was as though the car had just been parked in a back lot somewhere for quite some time. I expressed my concern about the amount of rust on the vehicle and under the hood and the employees at the dealership kept insisting it was fine and safe and tried to get me to drive off with the car for a few days to see if I liked it. I continued saying no because I didn't want to have to deal with driving it back to their dealership or anything when I already knew I wasn't satisfied with its condition. I asked that they take the vehicle to Toyota (it was a Toyota Tacoma) and have them do a presale inspection and I asked that that information be sent to me before I would agree to paying the amount they priced the vehicle at. They agreed. This never happened. I texted my contact the following Monday for an update and was told that the car had been inspected by Toyota and required $350 dollars worth of repairs. I asked the for the report I had requested and did not receive it. I continued requesting this report for several days to no avail. I called the dealership and asked to speak to the direct supervisor of the person I had been speaking to about the car. He told me he would get me the requested report in 5 minutes. 10 minutes later my contact texted me (after not responding for several days) saying that she had sent the car back to the original Clay Cooley dealership with the information I wanted inside and that she would track it down. I asked later that day and the next morning if there was any update on the situation. There was not. I gave up. The day before yesterday I received a text message from the dealership asking me to come in again and also questioning why they didn't earn my business and what they could do to rectify that. I responded to the text message expressing my dissatisfaction and I included my email address in case someone finally felt like addressing any of the issues I mentioned above. No response. In short, if I could give this dealership 0 stars I would. Absolutely no person who worked for or with this dealership was of any assistance whatsoever excepting maybe the nice receptionist who let me have a bottle of water while waiting for the truck to arrive. I felt disrespected, overlooked and entirely baffled not only by the ability of the dealership and its employees to waste MY time but also their own. If anyone from Clay Cooley reads this and doesn't agree or believes this is hyperbole I have the emails, text chains and names to back this up. read more

My wife and I flew into Love Field and Al picked us up from the airport. He was always the professional gentleman and made us feel at ease. Where do I start...Let's just say a good lesson learned for young, young adults. I went in to trade my 2003 Chevy Silverado and to get a 2014 Chevy, the sales man was extremely nice on the phone and informed me that everything was going to work out and he would not screw us. We told the sales man EXACTLY what we wanted in a TRUCK (5.3L 4x4 crew cab) which we told him multiple times. He then said I have the perfect truck, pulled it up to us and we test drove it. It was dark and we failed to check the motor, but whenever we were in about to go over financing he told us multiple times it was 5.3 L and not to worry. Whenever we were speaking about our warranty they suddenly tried to take the bumper to bumper away and say they never told us, whenever I stood up to leave they SUDDENLY remembered they said that and gave it to us. The Sales man also promised us that he would have the windows tinted for us and a trailer hitch receiver put on the following SATURDAY at 10AM The following day we were messing with the buttons trying to learn everything and it scrolled across the screen it was a V6. So we drove back up to the dealership and went to our sales guy and whenever we did he said "i am so sorry, I did not realize it was a 4.3L, let me get someone to help yall right away!" (AND THE CONTRACT SAYS NOTHING ABOUT THE MOTOR EITHER) HE then went to the manager and then the manager came out (OR WHO WE THOUGHT WAS A MANAGER) he basically told us there was not anything they could do for us, and we were going to lose the money on the truck because we could not get our down payment back from the truck we traded in and get a new one. I said "well the sales man said he did not even know it was a 4.3L and he said," "he told me he did tell yall it was a 4.3L, so you guys knew before you signed the contract" (SO THE SALES MAN LIED TO SAVE HIS BUTT) I asked to speak to the GM and they told me he was gone for the day and I could not speak to him. After that being the young woman I am I called my father (BECAUSE I DID NOT KNOW WHAT TO DO), he then called up to the dealership and requested to talk to the GM of the place. Well come to find out the sales manager and the GM have almost the same exact name and they are brothers. So the Sales Manager (THE BROTHER) decided it would be funny to get on the phone and pretend to be the GM. (THERE IS A GLASS WINDOW WHERE I WAS WATCHING ALL OF THIS HAPPEN) and they were all laughing about it saying they would call back and try to help. (AS I AM SITTING IN THE BUILDING) they would continue to stand there and then whenever my dad would call back they would tell him they tried and there was not anything they would do. We waited for 4 hours (BY THE WAY AFTER THE FIRST hour NO ONE SPOKE TO ME TO TRY TO HELP)n and then left. the following day we decided there was not anything we could do, so we called to see if we could still get the receiver hitch and the tinted windows and the salesman said he would have to call us back because he did not think he could have it done anymore, after we started to get mad he said "well I will call you back at first thing Saturday morning" (FRIDAY NIGHT 4PM) The following morning (SAT MORNING AT 10am.) we called and he said he would call back because he still did not know, called again at 1pm he said he would call back he did not know, called again at 6pm said he would call back before the day was over..... NEVER GOT A PHONE CALL, Called Monday 10am and he said he would call back between 12:30-1:30 NEVER GOT A PHONE CALL, so we called again at 3pm and the salesman said he could tint the windows but we would have to pay $400 for the trailer hitch receiver and that he never said he was going to have it done for free. (SO HE LIED AGAIN) PLEASE DO NOT GO HERE, IT WAS THE BIGGEST WASTE OF MONEY, ONCE YOU SIGN THE CONTRACT THEY NO LONGER CARE ABOUT YOU, I REGRET EVER GOING THERE. Stay away from all Clay Cooley dealers! These grifters scam and rip off the consumer with bait-and-switch tactics and price gouging. I went in this week to buy a used car. It was listed on the website as $12,995 + TTL. After spending an hour getting there and test driving it, I finally sat down to discuss pricing and details. It was during this time that they told me that I would be required to buy a "cleaning & protection package" for an extra $3,000 or they would not sell me the car. This brought the price of the car to $16,000 + TTL. First off, this "package" is NOT optional...whether you want it or not, you will end up paying for it, or they will refuse to sell you the car. Secondly, it is not disclosed on the website except for tiny fine print at the bottom. After I was adamant I didn't want it, the manager told me that he would remove the package, but he would under no circumstances sell me the car for under $16K +TTL. Basically, these con artists advertise one price on the website, and then refuse to sell it to you for that price once you go in and waste your time. What pisses me off is that instead of just honestly advertising the higher price on the website, they pull these shady tactics to lure you in and increase the price out of nowhere. I would've bought the car if the price was honestly advertised, since it was still a good deal, but couldn't on principle alone. To add insult to the injury, the manager tried to pass off the protection package fees as "part of the taxes you must pay no matter what" when this isn't the case, and they are an extra surcharge that no other dealer, let alone the government requires. read more
