Excellent food. They serve mostly raw and all vegan food. Portions are smaller than expected, but that wasn't a problem for us, as we like to order lots of things when we go out to eat. You leave feeling happy and nourished and healthy-- what the name suggests! Everyone who worked there was super nice. My partner and I recently went from vegan to high raw vegan, and so we were thrilled to find a place that serves raw vegan food right by our house. I loveee Catch a Healthy Habit. When I was a wee Fairfield U student I used to come here a lot for lunch and partake in their fresh raw juices and dishes such as nori wrap, pasta primavera (zucchini instead of pasta) and AMAZING pies. I asked once for a pie recipe and apparently it's top secret, whatever they're putting in there is out of this world. I am neither raw nor vegan but I still enjoy the food. I would have been way more impressed with this place if i was shown even a little bit of customer service. After standing in front of the register for five minutes, I finally asked if that was where I was supposed to order. Placed my order - mojito juice and cilantro salad. When I got my food and drink, I walked out to leave and accidentally spilled my juice on the floor. My fault, I get it. While it would have been nice to have another one offered for free since it was clearly an accident, I understand it was by no fault of the employees there that my drink spilled. I got napkins to clean up and apologized several times to (who I presume was) the owner. She came out with a rag, seemed visibly annoyed about what was obviously unintentional and was super curt with me. The salad, when I finally got around to eating it, was bland and thrown together. I usually love little juice bars like this because the people are so welcoming and the menus offer fresh, tasty items, but this place missed the mark for me. A waste of $18.35 in my opinion. I am not one to complain, and maybe it's because I'm not a local or the lady was having a bad day, but not a good first time experience as a customer. I will not be back. I have been to his previous location in West Haven, CT which was also very cozy and welcoming. His new location is nestled in the busy hustle and bustle of downtown Fairfield, CT located next to the Train Station. It is very bright and open. I've been several times and appreciate the menu. I've never had a bad experience until today. In fact I loved all the food and smoothies and desserts! BUT today I ordered my $11 breakfast which tasted like poison. My research concluded the walnuts were rancid. They tasted like paint thinner; pretty nasty. Normally I would not post anything negative about a place but I called and asked if it was supposed to taste like this. They said they tried the cereal and it was fine (guess I just had a bad batch?). The part that bothers me is they didn't even offer a credit toward my next visit. Okay I get it: vegan, healthy, organic etc. These establishments are the reason why people think healthy living is unattainable. Ridiculously over priced. I went in here a few weeks ago and got a small iced coffee. $5.85!!!!!!! For a SMALL iced coffee?!? I don't care if it's organic or has come from heaven itself. You do not charge over $5 for a small iced coffee. And when I say small I mean less-than-8-ounces small. And $7 for a medium? To tell you the truth...it tastes no better than Las Vetas coffee next door. You wouldn't even find such prices in the city for organic coffee that's been roasted at the coffee shop itself. Pretentious spot that overcharges. $11 for a "large" smoothie. Much better smoothie shops around. Unfortunately it's conveniently located in downtown Fairfield by the train station making it the only vegan option. Although not vegan, Freshii is a 5 minute walk away that has vegan options and smoothies for half the cost. Fairfield needs another health conscious cafe to give Catch A Healthy Habit some competition so they can stop ripping people off. Home of my first wheat grass shot*. Let me tell you. The natural section at the grocery store has nothing on this little cafe. Raw ingredients, raw agave sweetened gelato, raw candy bars, and oh yeah wheat grass just to highlight a few items. I had a great conversation with a man who was serving, but I do not know if he was the owner or not. He was finely intune with every customer, which you all know, I just die for good customer service. The other staff and patrons were personable as well, making for a great natural foodie hang out. They are loaded with information and events for everyone. They are really creating a community to help you Catch a Healthy Habit, not just a kick every now and then. * Do not let anyone fool you when they say wheat grass is sweet. It is sweet, but it defiantly taste like grass. I would do it again, but I would already know what to expect. The guy who made it for me told me that it was therapeutic and used as an alternative medicine. I totally believe him. I took it on an empty stomach and got completely nauseous and sick. So, lesson one: Never take a wheat grass shot on an empty stomach. After eating and taking a nap, I was okay. Brownies This was more of a fudge than a brownie. It was flat, fudgey, no flaky crust, and crispy flavorful edge. It was cold too. I have a thing for hot food, so temperature is very important. It did have a a few nuts, but I like nuts, so I wanted them to be bigger and more. It also has a dark chocolate taste. I do not like dark chocolate. I love a good milk chocolate, though I do not believe I have had a milk chocolate since being vegan. I pray for vegan milk chocolate often. Favorite spot in Fairfield to stop before and after class !! My boyfriend and I love their young coconuts they cut open for you as a sweet treat and refreshing drink. The chocolate macaroons are delicious! We love their smoothies and juices so much! The tropical trip smoothie and V6 juice are our favorites. The prices are beyond affordable and the food is amazing! If you go to any diner you would pay 9-15 on a meal that's unhealthy and non organic and you feel like crap after you eat it.
