Talk about a peaceful place , my goodness nature at its finest. The campground is pristine, spacious, full of nature sounds , wild life & water flowing. The camp host Loren... best camp host ever! He creates a super chill and friendly vibe, always there when you need fire wood , a good conversation, knows all about the surrounding area and is full of knowledge & hospitality. We are repeat guests , he makes you feel at home. I highly recommend this delightful spot to take some time and detach & find your center .. Please don't pollute!! Keep it beautiful. It's pretty cool in the sense that on a good day, a 90-minute drive from Phoenix can make you feel much further away than you actually are. Just don't expect a complete change of scenery. This is "high desert", which basically means it's the same old scenery, but more shrubs because it's a good 15 degrees cooler. You are not entirely escaping the summer heat, so if you're that sensitive, move further north. The campground itself is pretty boring. There's not enough open space to do much of anything but sit around and stare into the distance. It is also relatively flat, with no real hiking trails. If you like walking up tall things or participating in open-field sports like soccer and flag football, you will be disappointed. What's cool about this is the stream that flows through. It was 100 degrees out, but suddenly manageable as long as you sat next to the surprisingly cold water under plenty of shade. Walk a little bit upstream and downhill and you'll come across a shallow watering hole that appears to be the main attraction. But if you walk a good mile upstream, braving the terrible, terrible footing that is the seemingly endless off-trail pathway of large rocks, you will be rewarded. There's another large area for swimming, and the majority of campers won't bother going there. At roughly 5 1/2 feet, it's perfect swimming for just about anyone. But yeah...that's cool, but about the only thing (besides making s'mores) you'll really do here. It was cool for a one-night, one-day getaway if you want everyone in your life to leave you alone. read more

For us, it was Perfect. If you're looking for a peaceful, minimalist Tent Site campground with clean toilets, water, and trash removal, Clear Creek is about as good as it gets. Plenty of shady spots, picnic tables with fire ring barbecue pits, lots of trails to wander around on, and a cool creek nearby. The Host was friendly and informative about nearby attractions, like Montezuma's Castle and others. There is also a huge Group area if you want to reserve a camping retreat for up to 30 people. I definitely plan to re-visit this place in the future. They also accommodate RVs if you are so inclined, but for simple Tent Camping, you couldn't ask for more. read more

Amazing! Happened upon this place by accident . What a great weekend getaway it was. When you turn down the road it's a dirt road not bad at all even small cars can ride in and ride out. Pulled in was greeted by the camp host they where such a nice couple welcomed my partner and I along with our dog with open arms. Total cost for Saturday and Sunday 18 bucks total and very very worth it. They have nice clean bathrooms. It was not over packed or over crowded it was perfect only a few family we fit in just perfect! You can leave the camp site and walk to the amazing creek where kids are playing splashing all near the camp site it's perfect!! At night we pulled our chairs out in the middle of the open field they have and star gazed all night it felt like you could touch the stars how close you are it was perfect great ending to such a beautiful day at such a beautiful camp site! This place is a must go to you will not be let down easy to find nice friendly hosts perfect loved everything about this camping trip! read more

Camp site is nice. Drinking water, vault toilets, and fire pits available. It is a dust area not horrible but something to be aware of.

We had a beautiful, large level campsite with a trickling brook! Water, bathrooms, ice and firewood available. 10 miles to Camp Verde with groceries, gas, dump, hardware store and laundry. Camp hosts Kimberely and Michael were so very helpful to find the site for our 30ft 5th wheel. They are also super professional and always tidying and maintaining vacated sites and property. We were there early April 2022, temperatures great for boondocking. read more

Well we stayed here about 12 hours and didn't get murdered, so there's that. Our family pulled in after dark for a quick nights stay while on a road trip. There were a few unfriendly, seemingly shady characters around the site. No one waved or said anything to us. People were up all hours of the night. The camp host came by in the morning to make sure we had paid our $16. I said hi. He said nothing to us, could barely mange to wave. We have a transit van with a small trailer. We could barley fit in a space. They have placed large boulders along the road. It very difficult to navegate. I would not stay here again had I known! read more

Well, I really like the location. We stayed here two nights with a Cub Scout pack. The campground itself is pretty, green, and spread along the creek in two directions. The price per night per car is $16. The bathrooms are always hard to judge. Its a perma-potty. No sink, no running water... Just a hole in the ground vault toilets. Not terribly smelly, nothing fancy though. The time of year we went (early March) was beautiful and there was lots of water in the creek. The kids built a swing over the creek and had a blast swinging over and jumping off on the other side. There was great "hiking" along the creek and the boys got to "fish" for crayfish. They all got in the water even though it was very cold still. Some of the kids even went down the creek in a little canoe. Overall it was a really great time and I would come back and stay at this campground. read more

Some friends and I stayed here with our pop up trailers for the first time. It wasn't bad at all. Camp host was very nice. I wish we would have came here when the trees were bloomed with leaves. Very open and nice to hear the small creek all through the day and night by the fire. We got there late at night and easily found two spots for us to be next to each other. Campsites where we were at were spaced out pretty good. We were told there were no fish in the creek or river, but wet got some bites, unfortunately we ran out of bait so we didn't have a chance after that. Overall trip was great, campsite was great. We've camped here twice and have decided it's definitely going to be a yearly tradition for our family. We spend a day at Fossil Creek (an incredible hike nearby) and then set up camp and relax. Plenty of room to setup and very helpful camp staff, we love it. Our kids love the little brook that runs through the camp, and we love exploring the swimming hole and stream on the other side of the camp. All and all it's a beautiful site with lots to do, and plenty of space to do nothing. read more

Can't imagine why anyone would pay 16 bucks to stay here? Just go park out in the middle of somewhere with less "activity." The little creek is very... Little. I just drove through exploring the area to check it out. Nothing really screams out "Stay Here," as I was not really impressed. No motor homes or large trailers here, and sites are small and short. Clear Creek Campground - Entrance - Campgrounds Near Me - Camp Verde, Arizona

This campground is close enough to Sedona and Oak Creek (30 minutes without traffic) to go for the day or a meal, but far enough that we could still pull in at 9:30pm on a Friday night and grab one of the last spots. Camping closer to Sedona fills up really fast and there is very little designated backcountry camping allowed due to the high volume of visitors, so I will definitely use Clear Creek again as a base camp for exploring the area. You are certainly not out in the wilderness here and the campground itself is nothing particular special, but the creek is pleasant and deep enough for wading and dipping in and cottonwoods provide shade for a lot of the spots. I appreciate that the smaller size of the campsites meant that huge RVs and trailers (with generators, lawn furniture, etc) weren't as numerous. When we had to overpay $2 because we didn't have change for a $20 in the fee envelope, the camp host went out of his way to find us and offered the two dollars back the next day. The one really bummer thing was that we sadly chose a site which was pleasant and secluded but turned out to be downwind from the port-o-potties at the very popular group campsite. I think they see a high volume of scout troops and school groups here, so the breeze was not pleasant. A fine place to crash after longs days of exploring, but not a destination in itself. There are many hiking options and swimming holes along Clear Creek itself (we didn't start from the campsite but drove to a trailhead nearby) with some absolutely spectacular red rocks and beautiful scenery...total diamond in the rough! read more

We came here to escape some Phoenix heat, but wanted to stay relatively close to home. We arrived on a Thursday night around 9, thanks to some backed up traffic. So we didn't really get to see scenery as we arrived, had we, I probably would've opted to drive further north. That all being said, we set up camp for a 2 nighter. We found the fire rings, potties, picnic tables and running water handy. We took our 4 small children with us and realized the next morning there was quite a bit of POISON IVY/ANTS around the camp sites. Fortunately we stayed keen and had no trouble. We went on a hike along the creek, which is deep enough to swim, about a mile up, tho, we didn't swim. We enjoyed the shade and tall trees. After heading back to the camp, there was a very loud annoying bug, secada(sp?),I think, that was going nuts all day, more than one, it was actually quite loud and didn't stop until after dark. Once it did,everything was quiet. The host was also very nice and they stayed on top of the bathrooms and pretty much everything you needed, such a questions or firewood. We had a nice stay otherwise, I think I just pictured something different in my head as I'm not familiar with camping in AZ. I was hoping it would be more like Flagstaff just closer. read more

The host was pleasant. The campground is fairly open with no privacy. I would not go here as a destination, but it is good enough for somewhere to sleep after a day on the road. Bee activity in the area is worrisome, as Africanized bees are a concern. read more

We stayed for five days, including the busy Easter weekend. Ken and Jeanne, the hosts, were most helpful and guided us to an excellent campsite across a little creek. It was just right for three adults who liked a peaceful site and didn't care about being close to bathrooms. The creek walk is beautiful, with lots of places to stop and enjoy the water. There's also a large open field, which large groups with small children enjoyed.The campground is small and first-come, so getting there late in the day on a weekend will probably not work. However, it was an ideal place for us to entertain our European friend--there are many attractions in easy driving distance, including Tuzigoot, the Wet Beaver Creek wilderness, V Bar V petroglyphs, and Montezuma's Castle and Well. We'll be going there for future visits. read more

The campground is very small. The toilets were pit toilets with no sinks. There was one outdoor faucet near the bathroom. We were "upgraded" to a 30 ft RV, and this was our first planned stop, if I had known in advance I probably would have found a different place, as I was concerned it might not accommodate the size of our vehicle. I was correct. There was literally one site that we could pull in and out of easily. The paths are lined with big rocks so there's no wiggle room. The tent camper next door was playing music very loudly. Quiet hours starting at 10 were enforced, but even before 10 there really isn't a reason to play your music so loudly the entire campground can sing along. I would only stay here again in a tent or small rv, and only if it's just needed as a place to stop for the night, not a campground to really hang out and relax in. read more

Camped here several times, but recently it was bad. Camp host told us we couldn't split wood at the campsite?! Never heard this before in any campground EVER. I had a tiny speaker that I could listen to some tunes and they told me no radios. They kept driving by in their golf cart and one of them would "sneak up" and stand by my campsite at night. Really creeped me out. I didn't know who it was until a minute or two later they started talking. I was wondering what was next. Only 1 or 2 campsites that are half-way worth it here, but all are too close together with their silly layout. The things I like are the hiking/biking up the creek, how they diverted the water from the creek that goes thru the campground, and the nearby store. I usually camped here in non-summer months due to the heat. Camp hosts have me not coming back here again. I don't like paying $16 for this kind of camping experience. read more

We stayed here in March, because all of the rv parks were full. We felt very fortunate to find a campsite in this lovely place! The campground hosts, Ken and Jeanne were so friendly and helpful! They helped us find suitable sites for a camper and a trailer. The campsites were so clean, and must be shady in the summer. The sycamore trees were fabulous! The kids played in the little creek at the campground, and we took a fun walk along the river. We took a drive to Sedona, which was gridlock on a Sunday. Cottonwood was only 15 min. All in all, we loved camping here! read more

A very nice basic campground with concerned and helpful hosts. Nothing "fancy" but that is what we enjoy. Has a few isolated spots and spots that are more clustered. A nice open grassy area for kids to play or have a good group game. Great location for Camp Verde, Cottonwood or Sedona with wonderful hikes in the area as well as many Verde Valley historic sites. Spring and Fall are ideal, can get a little hot in summer or cold in winter. I'm a stargazer and it was a good spot to observe the night sky, especially near the Clear Creek Campground sign. The sites have wonderful trees so the interior isn't as good for stargazing. read more
