So happy to revisit the revived Clear River Tavern. This place has the feel of a Cheers type bar where everyone knows your name except 60% are likely leaf peepers or ski bums who happened to stumble in. It's located against the stunning backdrop of Vermont's gorgeous Green Mountains, so we were happy to sit outside as the sun was just starting to set. It's nice to see that they have an outdoor mini stage for local acts, a cornhole game set up and an 18 course disc golf course. How fun to play and then dine afterwards or during! And everyone I know is happy to see that the pool tables are back in the bar area inside the restaurant. I had a glass of Kendall Jackson Chardonnay for only $8-and it was a nice sized pour. My husband had a seasonal ale. We had the fried pickles to start and we were happy to see that they were in coins, not spears. Coins are so much better for dipping. The coating was nice and light-not heavy at all. I had a taco salad and added grilled chicken while my husband had a classic French Dip. Both were very good! We also had a delicious pumpkin creme brûlée for dessert that was delicious. Our server was very attentive and pleasant. Good quality standard food without pretentiousness! I was really surprised by how good the food is! I love the dinner roll. I was impressed that the restaurant made their own bread and their maple butter is so good! We also had the special home made s'mores ice cream, amazing. They have tons local draft beer. They have two pool table and many TVs you can watch sports at. It's a local bar and everyone is very nice great environment. The owner Mark is super nice. Highly recommend, no place better in this town then to spend a night grab some food and drink. read more

So disappointing. We visited CRT twice when we were here last President's Day weekend and it was so good. What a difference a year makes. Absolutely terrible. Everything we ordered was frozen. Crispy chicken sandwiches were just frozen, Weaver-like chicken patties. Chicken tacos were the same. Fish tacos too. Horrible. All clearly taken out of a box, thrown in a deep fryer, and served. My husband and I had great meals! I had the special... Scallops with mushrooms tomatoes and spinach and it's delicious Italian sauce it came with a baked potato and maple glazed carrots that were so delicious. My husband had a steak that was cooked perfectly just like he likes it pink in the middle. The waitress was very attentive and very nice I wish I had asked for her name. We totally enjoyed Clear River Tavern. I love the dining room. The tables aware unique and and fit the space perfectly. The lights matched the decor and completed the tavern charm. The wait staff was pleasant and fun. The food was delicious! The maple balsamic dressing was perfect. The truffle fries were a nice change from the usual choices. My 10 year (who is the pizza Queen) thought is was the best pizza she had ever eaten. We look forward to coming back here. read more

Stopped into the bar for some post-road trip drinks before we got to our Airbnb. There were no bar seats when we got there and we settled in at a table while deciding on our drinks and the bartender came out from behind the bar willing to answer any/all questions we had and take our order. We were fully prepared and fine with going up to the bar ourselves, but this was super nice! They had a decent beer selection and full liquor selection including a menu of their own hand crafted cocktails. Atmosphere was great in the bar area and there seemed to be a lot of regulars which was a great sign. Peaked into the dining room area and it looked beautiful! Would definitely sit down for dinner if we are ever in the area again. 4 stars just because we only stopped in for 2 drinks and didn't eat, but like I said if we are ever in the area again we will definitely grab a bite as well! read more

I went there for dinner Saturday Night. Wait was long, barman gave us an attitude because we wanted to seat at the bar to have drinks while waiting for the table. Then we got a sarcastic and condescending waitress who had comments on anything we asked. Food took forever, it was average, I would not go back there, even if I was planning to stay there but I heard the motel is just decent for the price. (My party was staying there). Sat outside on the patio due to COVID, they had a speaker on the patio that was jamming heavy metal.... knew this was going to be an interesting dinner. My wife asked for the fried chicken and a side of onion rings. I got the steak medium rare. They brought the onion rings out on a paper plate. They were premade frozen o-rings, like you would get in your high school cafeteria only cold. Not sure how they were able to achieve this, but the steak came out well done, but had no char marks. One of our favorite places! We eat here regularly when in town and the food is always great, atmosphere fun and the service and staff great too! We were just there for New Years and it was awesome. We got there around 7:30pm and had dinner and it started off quiet, but picked up as the night went on. Bow Thayer was playing and they were great! Had dinner with my family here on Saturday evening. Generally, we stick closer Killington proper but decided to venture out a (short) bit. We've exhausted the Access Rd. establishments. But a quick, lovely 10 minute car ride up Rt 100 brought us to the Clear River Tavern. What a lovely little oasis situated on what I assume is the Clear river? Beautiful setting. It only got better from there. The ambiance, food, service were all excellent. And at a value compared to the Access Road offerings. Between the 4 of us, we shared 6-7 items off the right-sized menu. Wings, fried-chicken, pizza, burger, charcuterie board, salads...all excellent. The CRT is always consistently good and excellent service. We often eat here when visiting the area. The pizza is spot on. Probably some of the best I've eaten, especially up in this neck of the woods. Any of the food I've had there has been very good and they have great taps, as well as a good selection of wines. The staff is friendly and welcoming. There is a large selection of food, from pub food to full entrees and nightly specials. They have excellent local talent playing there. Fun, casual place. This restaurant is not somewhere I would go to eat or even relax for a drink. The owner is extremely rude and obnoxious. He insulted me when I asked him to return my credit card to me. He has a bad temper and is very impolite. He should not be in the restaurant business. His reaction is certainly not what is expected from a business owner. Please stay away! read more

Very homey place on a cold Vermont night...packed with revelers, families, and diners, "The Clear", as they call it, really hit the spot. Everyone who works there is super-friendly, especially Doug the bartender who was very attentive to us even has he was being swarmed by drink orders. Food was pretty good; above average bar fare, but nothing spectacular, and not exactly cheap. I treated myself to the most expensive thing on the, Black and Bleu steak...it was fine, though I wish it were a little bigger for $24 at a bar. The bar has two pool tables and a giant Buck Hunter HD, which I love, and was obviously super convenient for someone staying at the hotel (the hotel, by the way...not any reason to go out of your way for, but that's beside the point). Otherwise, I'm not sure it's convenient to anything else, as it's a good 10 miles from Killington, which has plenty of bars around it, but if you are in the area, this was definitely a nice little surprise. read more
