Did you know that Utah county has a distillery....and it's open on Sundays and holidays? What?! Yes, Clearwater Distillery is forging new paths in our little conservative county. I bought tickets for me and my parents as a Christmas gift to do a distillery tour and tasting. We had a fantastic time with Karen as our guide, learning about how the spirits are made, getting a behind the scenes tour of the facility and then ending up in the beautiful tasting room where we got to try a variety of spirits. They also have a humidor and an impressive selection of cigars. Check out their cigar tasting and cigar club if you want to learn more or hang out with other cigar smokers. What a cool place! Top notch experience. Popped in on a lark with time to kill but man am I thrilled we did. First and foremost, I need to give credit to Dan. It was clear he loves what he does and his passion is contagious. He gave us a tour ($20) and tasting and no regrets because it was a hoot. He was informative but in a fun way that didn't make me feel like I was in school. I was engaged the whole time and enjoyed learning about the process. Additionally, once you get to the tasting it just gets even more fun. The history in the names and the philanthropic efforts really take this place over the top. The wife and I drove an hour to do a tasting here. We didn't know what to expect, but it seemed like a fun time. The distillery is located in a semi-industrial looking park. If you are using GPS, it'll direct you to the middle of the park. You need to drive around to the other side. Walking in, you can see a nice selection of their spirits. They also have a small selection of cigars, and when the gent behind the counter (Dan) found out I enjoyed cigars we had a nice long conversation about them. I got to try a dry-cured Italian cigar that he recommended. The tour is, well, informative. Everything is contained in a small warehouse, so you're not walking around some old bourbon still. But Dan was a fount of knowledge and you can tell that he loves his job. It finally came to what we drove an hour for: The tasting. We were not disappointed. They had seven different spirits that they sold, and I enjoyed almost all of them. I could take or leave their vodka, but I'm a vodka snob. We picked up two bottles of their rye whiskey when we left. All in all, it was an excellent tasting, and they have good stuff. If you you're in the vicinity you should give it a try. read more

The motto here is "Defiantly Different"! I must admit that every bottle that I got from here was just awesome. Something different for every pallet. Their catalog of spirits are inspired after some cool people. Josephine Baker: Josephine Eau de Vie (name of spirit). She's a beauty. This spirit stands on its own. I love it really cold!! Goes well with a cigar as per many of my friends. Danish Arctic explorer, Lorenz Peter Freuchen Lorenz (name of spirit). I love this one, it's hella better than René Cassin was a soldier who won the Nobel Peace prize René Rye-Magnac (name of spirit). This is a combination of American Rye & French Armagnac. This one hits the spot every time!! Also, each bottle of Rene has a collectable coin under the wax. These are custom designed, numbered, and minted for each batch. There is 1 solid 18 k gold coin, 15 sterling silver coins, and the rest are solid copper coins unique to each batch. How awesome is that!!! It's like the Cracker Jack prize for Adults. Each of these spirits are decorated award winners. With every bottle, they give back to charities that they believe each of these icons would have supported. They also have one called ScandaLust which is a Cinnamon Whiskey. I loved this one because too, not sugary and very flavorful. Kinda of like a cinnamon roll, but 10 times better. HEY UTAH! THIS IS A MUST SEE & DO (if you're 21+)!! My husband and I moved to UT 2 years ago and were venturing around the area looking for things to do. We had lunch nearby and found the Clear Water Distillery Co was close to us. We're so happy we did. There are very few distilleries in the Salt Lake Valley, and this has been by far the best. We came in and the shop was bright and open. We were greeted by Dan and his welcoming personality. He was very knowledgable and passionate about his job. We did the tour & tasting with Dan. It was awesome! The tasting area was very unique and correlated to their brand. We loved the history they put behind each of their spirits. What a super fun place to visit and enjoy! Located in pleasant Grove, Utah, this cute little distillery is the perfect weekend adventure. Utah isn't exactly known for its drinking, but this place was super cool for the people that do. You of course have to do the tour. This is where the magic happens. At only $10, we got a tour of the facility filled with plenty of facts about liquor that I would have never learned otherwise-worth the price. It evens includes a 5 shot sample in their drinking room. This is where we sampled all the types of liquor they make and sell. This was hands down the best history stories I'd ever heard. The stories behind the liquor names are what really sets this apart from anything. Would 100% recommend. read more

Five stars!!! Not only was Dan a great tour guide but this was truly an interesting and educational visit. It began with explaining what was what and then the process along with a tour of the equipment. Who knew how much it took to create distilled spirits? Then for the whole reason of being there... the tasting. The tasting room has a fabulous setting, great atmosphere, excellent overview of what you're tasting and really really great spirits! What an awesome place! I discovered it thanks to Yelp and it was 6 minutes away from where my friends live. My friends had never heard of this place and they had driven me to so many fun places 30 plus minutes away I wanted us to have some fun close to their house. Our "tour guide" was SO knowledgeable and fun to spend time with. He could have been an owner I have no idea but if he's not and you're an owner reading this I'd suggest doing everything in your power to keep him!! Utah is a funny place as it relates to alcohol. And come to find out while visit apparently so is Texas (where I live) because it's one of the 5 states they can't ship so so unfortunately I left empty handed and wasn't able to have anything shipped. I'm already planning my tactic to ship to my friends who can easily drive to Texas where I can have it shipped. Or plan better and pack lighter next time so you can check it with my luggage! Such a quality distillery and you can tell whoever built it put a lot of thought and effort behind what they were doing. The place is TOP NOTCH all the way!! Beautiful spirits and I want to bring them home and experiment with all the suggestions for cocktails. My friends left with the Rye Whiskey. Price points are good IMO. If you are the area or nearby definitely check them out. They opened March 2020 so I'm sure not as many haven't had a chance check them out as they would have had something not changed in our world around that time. We had a tour by a gal that was super knowledgeable and friendly. It was nice to learn the history of some of the things they do and why. They had a really cool vintage room where you do the whiskey tastings with old timey chairs. The tastings were really cool and I love learning how to do it and how to taste the flavor notes. I would really recommend everyone come here. You really get transported back in time to the prohibition era. read more
