Had a trifold window installed about a year and a half ago. Pretty soon after install I noticed the window was not sealing and was loose on one side. I called multiple times and was given multiple dates that someone would be out to take a look at it. When someone finally came out to look at it they worked on it a while and stated it was fixed. within a few weeks it was leaking and loose again. I called in and was told they were waiting on am part to come in. When the technician was out they claimed it was fixed. The part finally came in and we set a time to install and no one showed up, this happened when he originally came out as well. After it was finally installed the seal looked all bunched up on the bottom and soon after it was leaking again. This time when I called in they stated the window was not able to be fixed and the owner would have to come out. Three dates and times were given and every time no communication and no owner. The owner finally came out and claims he does not think he could do anything to fix it and it will need a completely new window since the measurements were slightly off. He said he would look into some things and get back to me and that he couldn't just provide a new window since this was very expensive and custom. His team did the measurements. I have reached out to him every week for the part month with no response and this window has not been sealed for a year and a half resulting in significantly higher bills. I had them come to our home, and the price was a good one, was told the would have my quote for me by the end of day. nothing not a call or anything. then I need Financing at the visit and 2 weeks later I finally got it. We ordered 7 windows on the phone with "Josh". Our windows were all sliders ~5 of them, in a rectangle shape, with similar dimensions, except 2 fixed windows. Unfortunately, one of the windows we ordered as a slider left to right~ came back as a single hung. It was turned sideways... made about 20 inches across and 40 long. It looks ridiculous. I called to let them know, and they gave me some song and dance about how there was no "proof" I ordered the windows from Josh, so I was pretty much out of luck, unless I wanted to pay $350 and wait 4-6 more weeks for a window. No thank you. I don't appreciate being called a liar. I'll order the rest of my windows for my upstairs project from Newmans. read more

ClearMax was suggested through Yelp. Not sure how that happens as this is the worst glass repair company to deal with. If this is all you read, DO NOT hire this Company. They will not be able to repair on time, nor correctly. Read the details below. DO NOT follow Yelp with this Company. On 12/4 I called and spoke with David who gave me a quote over the phone after providing pictures. He assured me this could be done within 7-10 days. I asked about rushing the order and he stated he could have one of his guys come out and measure the window to give me an accurate date of repair. Since they were busy that day, he promised to send them on Monday, 12/7. On Wednesday, I called David because I asked him when we could schedule the repair. He stated that he was on vacation and couldn't handle it. He referred me to the front office. I called and spoke to Danielle who apologized and told me she would get back to me. On Thursday 12/10, I spoke to Joshua, the owner. I let him know that this was a rush order and I was under the impression that the glass had already been ordered. He stated he could order the window within 2-3 days once we get the confirmation. I insisted that it be rushed. He later informed me that it would take 12 days to get the window. I verified that the window would not only arrive on the 22nd but would also get replaced. He said YES. I decided to wait since other companies giving me a 7-10 day turn around time would put me on the same date and they had already charged half of the order. To make the story short, the window still has not been replaced. They brought out a window on the 23rd and it was cracked. The technician also said that the measurements were incorrect and that he would have to reorder the window and make it an emergency repair. That did no good. I complained profusely and was utterly disappointed with the continuous lack of follow thru and broken promises of delivery. They actually had another company come out and do the repair. This was temporary since the manufacturer's window was still not being delivered. I was promised another date of 12/29 to have the window finally installed. Of course, this didn't happen. So here I am, almost a FULL MONTH after the initial contact with a temporary window and no follow through. This Company is a sham. I have learned my lesson and will not follow Yelp reviews anymore as they probably pay to have good reviews. FIND ANOTHER window repair/glass repair company. read more

I received quotes from 6 companies and 2 for repair companies. I went with this company because they offered a lifetime warranty, offered a price match and they were easy to talk to. I needed 2 sets of patio sliding doors and they came to measure initially. Once I signed a contract, John came to measure again to double check the figures. They came in to install 2 weeks later. John and another gentleman whose name escapes me came in and completed the install in 3 hours. I'm on a second floor balcony and they were very efficient. I cleared the area and pathways in advance and everything went smoothly. I chose a heavy laminated patio door and a regular double pane door. If I had more money, I would have gone with the laminate for ally doors and windows as it decreases noise considerably more and you can really tell the difference. It's only been a week and so far I'm very pleased and would not hesitate to recommend this company to my friends and family. read more

I'm a builder that purchased windows through Clearmax. The windows were ordered in December of 2022. The communication was great during the ordering process; however, once they received over 30 grand, I have got two dates of delivery. One was March 16 and one was April 11. Obvisouly these dates were bogus, with no response to my emails or returned phone calls of why I still don't have windows. At this point, I feel like I have been scammed. I called ClearMax for a quote to replace a French door solely based on their Yelp reviews. Alex, a salesman, showed up the next day to give me a price and show me a few pictures. Despite his hard sell tactics (one price if I sign a contract TODAY, another, higher, price if I did not sign on the spot) I decided to proceed with the door because I am listing my house for sale and needed a new door installed asap. I wrote a check for a 10% down payment, and Alex told me a guy would be out two days later, between 3:00 - 5:00 pm to measure. I sat home ALL day waiting for this guy because the errands I had to do would take several hours and I know how places like this can work... despite giving you a 3-5 pm window, more often then not they will call you an hour or two early and say they are 5 min. away. So needing my door asap, I didn't want to run the risk of missing the measure guy if I was 45 min away doing errands. 3 o'clock comes and goes, then 4 o'clock, then 5 o'clock, then 5:30. Finally I text the salesman and ask where the measure guy is. I am disgusted that they would not even bother letting me know the guy was running late and give me the option to reschedule. LIKE REPUTABLE BUSINESS'S DO. You know, not waste customers time?? Twenty minutes later I get a lame text that he is 'on his way'. "On his way" from where?? Come to find out, he is yet another 25 min. away. I called the owner of the company, Josh, and could not cancel the contract fast enough. I absolutely refuse to do business with outfits like this that take your money under high pressure sales tactics, and then waste your time. If I can't trust your employee to come out and measure like he was supposed to, or at least call me to let me know he will be seriously late, how can I trust you to make and deliver a $3,000 door? I can't. In addition, while I was sitting here waiting for ClearMax's no-show, I was looking over their contract and noticed something I thought was ILLEGAL. They require a 10% down payment, and then half the price of the door when the guy comes out to measure, and the remaining half when the door is installed. This is 100% illegal folks! I was married to a contractor for 25 years and know well that the 10% down payment is ALL they can ask for up front. Special order, materials order, no matter. Look it up on the State of CA Contractors License Board yourself. The Contractors Board especially is interested in companies that ask for OVER $1,000 when materials, including custom orders, are placed so I will be shooting a copy of my (now cancelled) contract over to them. This is taken, verbatim, right off the Contractors Board website: "For example, it is a crime for a contractor to accept a deposit check from the homeowner to fund a window manufacturer's requirement for a 50% down payment before fabrication begins." I don't know how they earned the few 5 star ratings they did, unless they are dealing with customers that just don't know any better. Between the shady sales tactics, the complete lack of respect for a customers time (Josh, the owner, actually tried to make a lame excuse for the measure guy and say "well, he is new and he didn't know he was supposed to call you if he was going to be late". I'm sorry, a 10 year old would know - if you're gonna be late - as in HOURS late - you CALL. DUH.) and the illegal deposit requirements, I would run far away from this place. read more

My husband and I were in the process of a kitchen remodel and decided to replace the large bay window in our kitchen, because we figured if not now, when? Well, we got in touch with Clearmax, who was recommended by our contractor and began the process. We scheduled our initial consultation and explained what we were looking for. The person sent out came, listened and took measurements for our project. They sent over their bid, which we accepted. We then paid our initial deposit thinking our project was now well under way and our supplies were being ordered. About a month later, when we tried to nail down a detailed timeline for the window installation we were told they needed to come and take another measurement. That was perfectly fine, we were still months away from our desired installation date and figured measure once and cut twice. Unfortunately, they then returned not once but 3 more times to measure throughout the next few months. This should have sent alarm bells ringing- why so many times? Wasn't our product already ordered by now? Their sales people were extremely pushy when it came time to write the check "You need to hurry up- with supply chains being so backed up, the sooner the better." Agreed. We wrote the check in a hurry, where was this same sense of urgency regarding the ordering of the product? Well, of course when we conveyed our desired installation date, they were not days, or weeks off from hitting that target. No, they were MONTHS! When you've already written a check for the bulk of the project, there is very little recourse, so we simply waited. When installation day FINALLY arrived, they did a very average job. The seal between the window and the countertop is patchy, messy and sloppily done. By this time we were willing to overlook it because we figured our contractor would clean up any and all mediocre finishing touches. Which, to their credit they did. Months later, we realize we have a weird problem with ants flooding in through this kitchen window. So, after doing some investigating, we find out that a critical piece of one of the windows is missing, essentially creating a perfect tunnel for any insect to walk directly into our kitchen. When we called to inquire about getting this small piece installed/ repaired, we were told to wait because "our installer isn't available until next week." That's fine, I understand a business being busy, overbooked whatever. But, if I had done such a poor job to begin with, causing a months long delay in a project due to my procrastination in ordering paid materials on time, I'd probably be more readily available to fix any fuck ups from my piss poor installation job, but hey- maybe that's just me. Save yourself the time and money and go ANYWHERE else. read more

This team did a great job transforming a wall of our family room into a 3 panel sliding glass door. Josh managed the project and was very responsive, coming to check the work himself as well. Clemente and his guys did a beautiful job on the install. Sometimes there are hiccups along the way and the job took a bit longer to complete than originally estimated, but they dealt with everything with grace and made sure the job was done right rather than rushing it. I had a wall with two windows that I was thinking about bringing down and add a folding door there. Opening was about 15' and the height about 7.5'. I got several quotes from different companies who "claimed" they were installing bi-fold doors for "years"! One of the companies was this "ClearMax" who gave me a quote for a "Windor" door 16k. I had another quote from another company for a little less so I called "Josh" the owner and explained the case and he said he'll lower his to 15k. I sent him photos of my current wall and explained to him exactly what needed to be done. I am a licensed civil engineer I'm CA so all the calcs and design was supposed to be on me. So far so good right? Everything changed when I went to their "showroom" and talked to him for 10 15 min. You could clearly see he didn't have a clue what he was talking about. He showed me a " La Cantina" door and told me "this is Windor!" Then I told him no, Windors panel is 3.75" wide and this is only 3", Windor doesn't make a 3" Vinyl panel. He says let me check with the Rep and calls his Windor guy. Now how does someone who claims selling around 10 Windor Bi-Fold door a month doesn't know the simplest spec about the door and has to call his Rep?! I was searching doors for a few hours and I knew more than him on a lot of different aspects of the door. That was a red flag right then and there, once you speak with him for a few minutes, you quickly notice he doesn't have any idea about this job (Bi-Fold doors at least) he just says stuff about doors and windows with no clue! Anyway, he looks at my photos of the wall and we talk about the design and he says no problem I'll do it for 15k. Once I confirm he says he sends his installer to our house to make the final measurements for the contract the next day. Nail in the coffin? 2 days passes and I don't hear from him at all. I call his office and he's on vacation! I asked for a return call and he emails me within hours that yeah sorry the quote that I gave you for 15k is actually 35k!!!!! Mentioned some bs about the header being too big. All along he knew that my opening was 15' and my header was going to be an 18" tall beam 15' long. Nothing changed. Again he clearly doesn't have a clue about the job. He said he has to bring a crane to our because the piece of wood is too heavy for even 10 men to lift lol!!!! Anyway, long story short, he wasted my time for 4-5 days, tried to lure me in with a low quote and bait and switched from 15k to 35k after I told him I was ready to sign the contract. Not sure about other areas, maybe he's better with windows but for folding doors, stay away. Definitely look elsewhere. read more

One Star is to much for ClearMax. Do yourself a favor do not use these people Josh has no idea what he's doing and I don't know why the other reviews say that he does. It was a horrible horrible horrible experience and I want to save people from it. I ordered four windows two picture windows and two La Cantina doors from Josh at ClareMax. At first Josh seemed to know what he was doing, when my order came in one door was opening to the right and should've opened to the left, all four of my windows were measured wrong and were too big, the installer had to modify the openings which cost extra, and two of my windows were made horizontally instead of vertically and it was an huge mess. I had to wait two and 1/2 months for the two windows that were vertical instead of horizontal. It's been two and 1/2 months now and the door has never arrived. I ordered the door from La Cantina through Josh and La cantina was not able to give me any information on the door even when I had Josh on the speakerphone with me talking to them. The correct door was never put on order. When I finally got through to the president of La Cantina I was told that Josh had the information all along and was just lying to me and lying to me and lying to me. He has caused my job to be 4 months delayed because now, Feb 2, 2021 I have to reorder it again from someone else whom by the way was $2000 less than Josh's price. I reordered it for $3,000 and Josh charged $5,000 and also wait until the end of March 2021. So from Dec 1 to March 31 my project is delayed. This delay has cost me several thousand dollars in rent to the tune of $12,500 because I rent the property. The Milgard windows are low quality also and Josh suggested them. The picture window frame was put in wrong, get competitive bids on La Cantina Doors as ClearMax is a rip off. Call me if you want another vendor for your needs that has much better prices, higher quality and come over and measure and go over the specs and have you approve the orders.
