And I'll hey serve the mustard BBQ sauce on the side which I like so I can add sweet & smoky BBQ sauce to mine. We ordered a pound of chopped BBQ with potato salad (lots of dill), very good coleslaw and great baked beans with a slice of lemon meringue and a slice of pecan pie. I was really hoping for some great BBQ from a hole in the wall type place. Wow, was I wrong. Dirty, rude employees, and bad food. This place is a hard pass for me. 1-Environment-It is dirty. Like really greasy dirty. The flies are a force to be reckoned with. The floors don't look like they've seen a mop in decades. The tables are all sticky. Every surface is just gross. 2-Staff-They are rude. Why? Why are you rude to customers who are paying you good money? There's no excuse for being rude to customers. 3-Paying-They do not take cards. Living in an almost cashless society, this is just lazy on the part of the owners. Perhaps the IRS should see who's money they are laundering because I really can't see how else they are staying in business. 4-Sides-Disgusting. The cole slaw tasted like someone put sweet pickles, mayonnaise, and a lot of sugar in a food processor. The potato salad is bland and seasonless. The baked beans, tasted like premade baked beans with sugar added. A lot of sugar. Everything was cloyingly sweet, including the sweet tea. Unsweet tea isn't an option, so there's no cutting the sweetness. 5-The meat-The chopped pork is so bland and tasteless it's hard to describe. It has almost no smoke flavor, perhaps this is the type of place that puts the meat in the smoker long enough to get a little color on the outside, then finishes it in the oven. When pork is properly smoked, the fat renders into the meat making for a sweet succulent product. While technically done, the fat was in big globs and layers and had not even begun to render. It either needed a couple more hours in the oven, or 10 more hours in the smoker. Also, there was no sign of a rub or injection or any attempt to season the meat. Truthfully, I'm sort of shocked about how awful this place was. read more

The meat's great. L.A. Yelpers will probably understand if I say that my husband compared this place to OkiDog - total hole in the wall, and not to be missed for that "only here!" ambience. The Sausage Q sandwich is indeed a unique twist. Who on earth does that kind of crazy? It works, though. The "BBQ Slaw" was mindbending; when my husband said, "this place is like OkiDog, so where's the kimchi?", I immediately pointed to the BBQ Slaw. I don't know if anyone else in the Columbus area is making this, but I've never seen anything like it anywhere else. Mustard BBQ sauce-slathered minced cabbage. Essentially, cracker kimchee. Beans are nothing special, they tasted like Campbell's or something from a can. Didn't try the corn on the cob or potato salad. Dunno whether we'd have enjoyed it if it were more expensive, but for the price, it's an unbeatable cultural experience. Extra star for that alone. read more

I had the chipper sandwich here and it was fabulous. They're only 99 cents! The pork in them is some of the best quality I've ever had. The slaw and pickle chips they put on it is a perfect addition because it kind of offers a foil for the extreme spiciness if you get it hot. Try out the sauces they have lying around. They are really special and can go great with the chipper. The corn on the cob and potato salad is also great here. I would give it 5 stars, but I took one off because they're cash only, the employees don't make you feel too welcome, and there's nothing great about the ambiance. Best chipped sandwich on earth! Clearview takes a throwaway dish and makes it their specialty and it is out of this world! Don't be afraid of the lunch-time line out the door; it moves fast and the wait is worth it. I go there on my lunch hour regularly and I'm always back to work on time. Everything on the menu is great, but the chipped sandwich is by far the standout. These things are mana from heaven. In fact, I'll usually grab a couple extra when I go and stick them in my freezer. Clearview is another great BBQ restaurant in the Columbus Georgia area. I've long believed that Columbus has more BBQ stores than any city it's size. It seems that most stay in business and prosper despite all the competition selling essentially very similar products. The hickory smoked pork reminds me of the NFL'S; Any Given Sunday and perfect competition. Clearview offers the 99 cent Chipper as it's signature sandwich and the value is hard to beat. The meat is chipped, tiny shards of pork that don't have too much texture when combined with BBQ slaw and sauce, dill pickle chips give you something to sink your teeth into. The potato salad and BBQ slaw both lack texture as if someone gets "too happy with a food processor". However the sandwiches are great to take home and microwave. The chopped and sliced pork plates come with white bread an pickles. They have at least three mustard vinegar sauces and probably one under the counter with real kick. Abso lutly the worst Bar B Que ever encountered. I give it a 1 star because there is nothing lower. Dirtiest place I have ben in, flies everywhere, tables left uncleaned and the help looked unkept. About the meat they call Bar B Que.. Noticed that it had no (zero) smoke or bar b que flavor so I looked around, there is no chimley, no fire pit no amoky smell, nothing! The chipped sandwich was not enjoyable, smoked chicken is truly smoked black and dry; nonetheless, the sausage-que sandwiches was great. The sausage was sweet, the pork was juicy and tender. I heard about Clearview just yesterday from two different sources, looked at the reviews on Yelp and had to give it a go. It has a great BBQ atmosphere and at 2:30 there were still a fair amount of folks showing up to eat. There were maybe 10 people in line the whole time I was there. I heard if you go for lunch the line will be out the door. I don't like lines so I waited till I thought I could get served without too much of a wait. I've been on a chip sandwich tear lately so the $.99 sandwich was a must. I like the way it was prepared on top of a panini type cooker with the bun slightly toasted. I had slaw and pickles with the hot mustard based sauce, and a side of Brunswick stew, and an iced tea. I was a little surprised they only had sweet tea sitting out for refills, and I'm not supposed to ingest refined sugar, but heck, I'm on vacation. Now to the story of the sandwich and stew. My first bite of the sandwich, my mind and mouth say "salt!". Not as in it needs salt, but salt is the overbearing taste in my mouth. I thought, it's because of the pickles, so I remove them. Next bite, still salt. Huh. I go for a taste of the stew: delicious! I have a few more bites of stew and give the sandwich another try. Still salt. Not the delicious meat, slaw, bread and sauce flavor I'm used to with chip sandwiches. OK, maybe it's the slaw. I really couldn't separate it from the meat and bread, so I filled my spoon with the hot mustard sauce and took a sip. Mustard. At this point I need to say that I make my own mustard sauce in the same style of Chicken Comer's, and it doesn't have an overbearing mustard flavor. The heat was good in this sauce, and was just the right amount of runny to soak into the meat and slaw, but the mustard was too there. All this to say that for $.99 it's way better than any burger experience you'll find at this price, but if you're looking for a smoky meaty and slaw experience in your Chip sandwich, you might have to go elsewhere. read more

Woohoo, exactly! We yelped this place on a LONG trip between Panama City and Atlanta, destination barbeque, thinking that we just had to try the real thing.
