The bartender is amazing! She makes you feel like you are walking into your neighborhood "Cheers" she even recognizes your voice and knows your name if you should call! It a very relaxing environment, super chill with different music playing all the time! When the restaurant attached is leased out it's always good food! Not friendly! Walked in on Sunday afternoon after perusing the car dealerships to get a beer and bite. Lounge was EMPTY. She had her attention on the TV as I walked in. Bartender, older dark hair, greeted me with "You got ID?" Granted I look young for my 47 YEARS but after laughing it off (I enjoy getting asked nicely for my ID these days), I said "Sure" she responded with "Well I'm gonna need to see it" . With her demeanor and approach, I looked at her for a beat and said "I'm gonna go somewhere else, thanks" No "hey how are you? What would you like? Cleary's is my neighborhood restaurant and bar, I've been there a few times with my husband on both sides. When some friends and I decided to get together for a meet up to buy and sell some of our crafts I reached out to Cathy at Cleary's who agree to have us use a few tables for our meet up, and who was very gracious and accommodating when I upon confirmation, I realized I got the date wrong. Our meet up was today and we had a few tables set up and waiting. Cathy herself helped all of us, a loud group of 10 as we each came in and got in our orders. The food was on time and delicious and Cathy even made a point to let us know we were welcome anytime. I will definitely be back wether it's by myself or in a group. Dunno what happened, but this place has gone downhill. The last three or four times my family has gone, we left promising each other we'd never try it again. How do you screw up bacon and eggs? Just yesterday I took a young lady on a first date. The pictures online made it seem like this was a quaint little place to sit, and get to know someone. I sat down, and we really enjoyed the time together. The initial waitress was very sweet, and very attentive. It wasn't too busy, and she spent that time ensuring that everyone was attended to, and had everything they needed. The woman left, and proceeded to suggest that if we needed help we could ask the replacement waitress for assistance. About 15 minutes later there was not a single person in the diner in the restaurant except my date, and I. I asked the new waitress if I could get a refill on my coffee. Her response "it depends on how many you've had". There was no limit on refills to my knowledge. She wasn't preoccupied with any other customers. My response "maybe you didn't hear me, I said I'd like a refill on my coffee if I may". It was very obvious that without the expectation of a tip she wasn't interested in doing anything. It's sad to see people who are so focused on themselves that they portray passive aggressive behavior onto innocent people just because they are miserable. What's even funnier is the fact that as she reads this review she'll understand that someone realizes the depth of her emotional issues. If you're look forward to anything nice I'd suggest going somewhere else. Certain people here obviously aren't genuinely interested in appreciating the resource that keeps the doors open. read more

When it comes to eating, napkins are probably not something that most people think much into; but as a child, they were my saving grace. For YEARS I use to line my pockets with napkins and nonchalantly slip all the food I didn't like into them, only to promptly flush it down the toilet or stuff it to the bottom of the trash can after meals (Shh...don't tell the starving kids in Africa!). I had this process down to an art, and for all my parents knew...I was eating my dinner like a good little girl. This lovely memory crosses my mind whenever I have to go to Cleary's. As I glance over the menu (praying that it changed), I wish nothing more than being able to revert back to my younger days and bring back the ol' napkin trick. I am trying my hardest to find something positive to say about this place, but it is proving to be difficult. If my memory serves me right, the chicken strip salad was tolerable (meaning no napkins were involved)...but seeing as I have been a vegetarian for 9 years, I am kind of S.O.L. on that option. I suppose their plain salad is pretty safe, but a plate of lettuce is really nothing to write home about. Everything else semi vegetarian friendly is deep fried and/or pocket shove-able. Overall, something about this place really creeps me out. Maybe it is the bazaar decorations that range in themes from Sesame Street to Elvis Presley, or maybe it's the freaky Cher albums I somehow always get stuck sitting by. This is a neighborhood bar in a strip mall. Could use a little spiffing up. Had the burger (plain.) When I was asked if I wanted onions I asked back if I could get them saute'd. YUM! But was not told it would be $0.25 extra. Shame, 'cause I would have said: "OK make mine double!" I like it when I'm charged for sauted onions because then I can expect the real thing (or else!) :-) The burger appeared to be hand-made and not a frozen-stamped patty from Costco. WOW! That's unheard of these days. Really "old fashioned." Came with one of those extra small bag of chips. SIGH! Everything is priced ala-carte. Tucked in a strip mall and comprised of 2 storefronts Cleary's has been a neighborhood staple for at least 15 years. It originally opened 1/2 it's size as just a typical neighborhood bar... but due to success double and opened a dining area for all ages. There's lots of crap on the walls to look at- including a homage to I Love Lucy and Elvis... and old classic vinyl covers run the perimeter. But be warned if you're from out of state... they may get confused as to why your Date of Birth on your ID is on the "wrong" side. (Uhh... It's Washington, that's where it is on everyones!) Be prepared to do some explaining! (Ok... so that probably was just a fluke thing... but I was still caught off guard.) They have typical bar food and a full dinner menu. Typical brews on tap, full bar, and RC cola (which I didn't even know was still around.) So hubby and I wanted a mini date night but we're on a budget and decided on this place because it's close. We were very surprised by the quality and size of the shrimp dinner that we ordered to share. It came with about 9 shrimp, fries salad and garlic toast and there was plenty not only for us but we had some to take home too. So two drinks and dinner later we were out only $17 for date night because we allow ourselves $5 each for video poker and I made enough to cover tip and one drink. Why would anyone keep going to a restaurant that they clearly don't like? Force of habit, apparently... I , on the other hand, actually do go there for the food - simple fare, but plenty of it, and a 'spaghetti special' that would easily feed two folks of normal appetite. I normally take half of it home - two meals for the price of one! Cleary's is the 'go-to' choice for my wife and I when we want a night out, close-in, no-hassle parking and available seating - rarely have to wait to be seated. The fact that it is right up the street from our business, CrowningLori Hats (product placement!) is a major plus, too. Most of all, however - and more frequently - I enjoy their breakfasts. Quick service (normally), good selection, crisp hashbrowns (a must for me), and low-priced Specials. Yesterday was one of the two of my days off. I was busy out and about all day running errands. I was with a friend from out of town we were looking forward to going to Clearys to finally relax and eat... I hate to admit that I will never go back and I'm disgusted by a disturbingly distraught grotesque employee by the name of Danielle who had the audacity to chase me out of her restaurant screaming profanities and starting a fight with me saying I won't ever do that again I don't know what it is I had done I had walked out of the restaurant after fndng my booth to get my friend who was taking too long looking for their wallet after she had started yelling at me I looked at my friend and I'm like what is going on is she speaking to me he's like she's speaking to you don't fight her why would I fight her what is even happening here I said I'm going to go confront her to figure out what the confusion is I didn't find out what the problem was she was making ridiculous assumptions of some sort she seemed to be under the influence or lacking drugs that were needed she was a hefty woman starting to try to fight with me picking and bullying me I wanted to call the police to have them go there to figure out what this woman's problem was because I've never seen such a erratic Jerry Springer type behavior and very very unemployable human in my mind she needs to be suspended fired or they need to get evaluated this employee named Danielle literally followed me out of the restaurant started yelling at me and as she heard me asking my friend if she speaking to me she get turned back to try to start more stuff she was stirring up a pot she was trying to fight I've never seen something so ridiculous in my life I'm sorry I have every right to go and get somebody from outside and go back in she acted as if I had violated some law or something by going outside to get my friend how dare her assume whatever it is she is assuming like there's a problem. She treated me as if I dined and ditched or came in there and stole money off of tables. Her behavior was very scary it was very rude it was very off the wall it was offencive and it was very questionable I was worried about her mental state I was offended by her aggressiveness and all I was going to do was eat there and didn't even get to do that because she had started a web of nastiness with me for no apparent reason I'm a decent-looking well-mannered middle class female I should have been treated like s*** by a woman that is lower than me sorry but she's classless and trashy and had the audacity to treat me like s*** which made me lose my appetite make me shake a leaf. I go to this restaurant 3 to 4 times a week for breakfast, they have the best oatmeal and they spoil me with extra raisins.
