Saw someone show this place on tiktok so I had to go. First impression was that the prices are more than fair they are great! Had the special Bahn mi and it was wonderful! Fresh in house baked bread every day had that super crunch and pillow inside. Full of fresh meats and vegetables. I also got the egg rolls for 1 dollar each!! I mean come on 3 for a dollar? Yes please and they were great. I didn't try it but it's the only place I've seen that has fresh squeezed sugar cane juice!!! I got also a Taro bubble tea for 5 bucks! I'll definitely be back when I'm in that area. Also they were really busy so I guess the word is out! So go get the best Bahn mi in Portland for 6 bucks!

    The menu!

After driving by a few times, I finally got to try this place out (and eating it as I type this) They're super nice! I was able to add avocado to my banh mi and they were super generous with it. Their bread? A+ and you can tell it's def baked on the premises. Mine was still warm, had a nice crunch, and one of the tastier baguettes I've had in town. The tofu? Rad!! It's cubed as opposed to shredded tofu and they do a great job of making it tasty and not taste like just a "cube of tofu" If you get it to go, don't forget to check your bag! This is one of those places that does veggie on the outside by default and you don't wanna miss out! Def a 5 star banh mi and I'll def be back!!

Love Bon Bahn Mi!!!!!!!!! French Vietnamese baguette rolls.

Super love Vietnamese French baguette sandwiches .There are only 2 in PDX besides Bon Banh Mi* Pho Bon LLC. Are my go to at least 2/3 times every week:)!

Had a great experience, picking up food for my family here. We ordered several banh mi dac biet and thit nuong. We also ordered Vietnamese coffee. The only thing that I wasn't satisfied with was pate chaud. I would come back for a sandwiches and coffee though! Despite it being a busy morning, service was very quick and efficient!

The No.1 Cold Cut Combo Banh Mi.

The Banh Mi was loaded, asked for extra jalapeños. Bread is crispy and fresh made in house. Spring rolls were flaky and tender on the inside. Bánh Bao (Vietnamese Steamed Pork Buns) had a perfect ratio, soft and delicious. Friendly, family owned business. Highly recommend.

Special #1 was stacked and super tasty.

Really great sandwiches! I got the special #1 and it was stacked and super tasty. The bread is amazing, fresh, and crunchy. It's family owned and the owners were super nice. Can't wait to come back and try more of the sandwiches.

Bun Thit Nuong - Grilled pork with rice noodles + eggroll included!!!

Have you been to Bon Sandwich on 122nd in Portland? You should definitely try! My favorite of all times, and keep on coming back, is the "Banh Hoi Thit Quay" - "Roast Pork with Vermicelli Rice Noodles" where you can eat it out of a bowl; however, I prefer the wrap. Of course, there's banh mi and I can never leave without ordering at least 1"Banh Mi Thit Dac Biet" -- "Vietnamese Sandwich Deluxe"!!! The banh mi is larger than others and lots of meat!! Today, I'm trying out the "Bun Thit Nuong" which is grilled pork with rice noodles and I loved it. Lots of lemongrass and plenty of protein. Each portion is perfect for 1 person, not too much but not too little either and best of all... it's totally affordable and everything is made fresh there; can't you believe that? Another thing I look for coming to Bon is seeing great customer service. This is one of the top reasons they draw me every week.

It just wasn't the quality of other banh mi sandwiches I've had. Perhaps it is more to the taste of others but not for me.

It took a while to get my order, but it seemed as if they hired a new worker and were showing him he ropes on how to properly make a good cheesesteak sandwich. The person teaching seemed like he had a passion for the craft of assembling and making the sandwich. But needless to say, he did, because it was pretty fire in my opinion. The beef was delicious! Very well seasoned and accompanied by the onions and swiss cheese, the sandwich was to die for! The peppers worked extremely well, and the roll that they used was super soft and toasted as well. The presentation of the sandwich was simple, but you're able to peer directly in and see all the ingredients inside the sandwich. Beef was tender and each bite was a melty, cheesy, burst of flavor in my mouth.

There's usually a company or two like this in every city, they compete with national brands of the same ilk like "Deli Express." I've written about 'gas station sandwiches' on an occasion or two. That's my phrase for them, it's not a trade label. I generally stay away from the "salad varieties" (tuna, egg), but the meat and cheese ones seem harmless. Pretty much my favorite is Deli Express' muffaletta. They take a little poetic license with the original recipe, but I like it just the same. Today I was perusing the cooler at my favorite Chinatown mini mart, and spotted Portland Sandwich Company's version of a "Reuben.' $3.49. I took it back to the office and dissected it. The label lists 64 separate ingredients that make up the corned beef, swiss, bread, and thousand island dressing (which I scrapped off). Two of the more interesting ones were "saurekraut" (sic), and "raisin juice." Hmmmm. Anyway, it wasn't so bad. The bread wasn't soggy from the kraut, which I anticipated, and the meat was passable, much more so than the press/chopped/form ham or turkey one usually gets. The food carts of Portland are great, but remember there are other small businesses in the food arena too. If you get a chance, support the Portland Sandwich Company.

Right now Captain's Galley is hidden behind a newly arrived red psychedelic-painted Mexican food truck. The food is as delicious as ever. Fried but not greasy, no old oil taste. My usual order is fish, shrimp and clams, chips instead of fries. All made fresh to order. The chips are to die for, fried just right. The breading in the clams, shrimp and fish has just the right amount of seasoning. They are so not greasy that I can eat them all as finger food and wiping my fingers off on a napkin doesn't leave greasy streaks. All are served with a little coleslaw, generous amounts of cocktail sauce, a spicy but not too much so dipping sauce, and the best tarter sauce I ever had in my life. I found something new to make me happy. They have delicious fish tacos! Before trying these I had fast food fish tacos that were more crunchy breading than fish. Captain's Galley brings the fish! Perfectly seasoned fish with toppings in proportion and a nice drizzle of sauce. Now when I go back it's a tough decision as to what to get. If you ever in your life liked New England clam chowder, get yourself on over to Captain's Galley for theirs. I've had New England clam chowder many times in New England and this is so much better! It comes with oyster crackers. This clam chowder is fresh enough that it can survive 2 days in the refrigerator and still be delicious.
